Review: I received an Amika straightener as a gift a few years ago with a lifetime warranty. The lifetime warranty was the reason the straightener was purchased because it was a good deal to be able to have the straightener replaced for my lifetime.
My straightener broke and in December, 2013, I sent in all of the information (that I was told I needed by the seller) along with a check for $22.95 to received a new straightener/fixed straightener.
On January [redacted] I had a voicemail from the company stating they had gotten my straightener and warranty but they were missing the receipt of purchase and to email them.
So I emailed the company stating that I had received it as a gift and was told all of the information was in the box. There wasn't a gift receipt and the person who got me the gift no longer had their receipt.
Friday at 5:05 pm (after closing) they sent me a general email on how to purchase a warranty.
I emailed back saying I didn't need a warranty and that my email was regarding the receipt of purchase.
When I received no response I called the company. No one answered. I was not sent to a voicemail. I called multiple times, all during business hours.
I then sent an email to the company asking if anyone answers the phone. I also sent a message on [redacted] saying I had called with no answer and that no one was answering my emails.
The person running their [redacted] account replied to me and said they would let someone know in the customer service department.
A couple hours later I received a nasty email stating that only humans replied to their messages. They also stated they sent me the general email about purchasing a warranty because that is what my original email had been about.
I emailed again saying that my email hadn't been about getting a warranty. I already had one on the straightener that they had.
I didn't receive a response.
A week later I sent a message asking if they had been closed for the week. I knew there had been bad weather out east and Monday was a holiday so I was curious since I hadn't received a reply.
I then got an email asking what I needed.
I, again, explained the situation. I let them know about the voicemail I had and about how I received these emails in regards to purchasing a warranty but the warranty was already there.
The response I got, again, included information on how to purchase a warranty. This time they told me they never received the warranty.
Considering the original voicemail I received said the ONLY information that was missing was the receipt of purchase, I find it quite suspicious that my warranty is now "missing."
This is the worst customer service I have EVER dealt with. The company is one big scam! To pay over $100 for a hair straightener and a lifetime warranty, pay the $22.95 "shipping and handling" and then be told your warranty is "missing" and that they needed more money, is completely ridiculous and unprofessional!Desired Settlement: I would like the fixed straightener or new straightener that my warranty guarantees me!
I at least want my $22.95 back!
I also believe something NEEDS to be done about this company. Other people have posted complaints similar on the internet. It's not ok for a company to scam people like this!

Response:
At this time, I have been contacted directly by Amika regarding complaint ID [redacted], however my complaint has NOT been resolved because:
The business contacted me after receiving the complaint. They stated that the same response would come from the Revdex.com complaint as what they were telling me in an email. I then said if they aren't going to honor my warranty I would like my check for $22.95.
On 1/**/14 I received this email.
