I tried Animoto in 2015 once with one video in what I believe was a trial period. My bank account has been charged every year for 5 years for an annual subscription I did not believe I authorized, but must have been in the fine print. I have tried multiple times to call and email Animoto to stop charging my account and to refund charges. This year I called my bank to reverse the charges which they did temporarily. However, then Animoto sent them a copy of what I signed up for along with the fine print and said I have "been a customer since 2015" and showed them that I had uploaded some photos and made a video in 2015 - once. Based on that my bank had to allow the charges and Animoto is holding they can go on charging me over $200/year forever even though I have tried and tried to reach them to no avail. Both phone numbers I can find (NY and CA) go nowhere. NY says discontinued and CA says not set up for messages and no live person every answers. The number my bank statement has gives an automated message that says you have to email them. I have emailed them and never received a response. This is such a fraudulent trap! Over 5 years they have cost me approximately $1000 and I can't get any response, refund or assurance that I will no longer be charged! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, ANIMOTO, OR GIVE THEM ANY FINANCIAL INFORMATION!

I did not want my account to auto renew ( again ) there have been issues in the past with " auto renew" but they were resolvedI am now retired and was seeking medical advise in California at Stanford when Animoto auto renewed meI wasn't even aware of the bill until months later when I returned home I protested but to no avail and I have not used the service which I was charged $for a one year subscription which I have no use for
Very disappointed after using Animoto services for years to be treated this way

My experience with Animoto has been much the same as others on this page, which I find deeply troubling. Like so many others, I purchased a one month subscription for a single project. Animoto's product is adequate, their customer service is not. After the initial one month, they sent a notice of expiration which provided a prompt to renew. I did not do that and assumed that our business was concluded. 15 months later, I noted on my PayPal statement, that I continued to be charged $16.00 each month for a service that I did not authorize or access. I contacted Animoto's Customer Success Department via email requesting a full refund. I received a response from Sallianne, who stated that she understood and had closed my Animoto account and would issue a refund. Great! I received three $16.00 credits to my PayPal account. When I responded to a follow up survey, stating that I was not satisfied with the issue resolution, Sallianne sent another email which stated that she was sorry, but had already exceeded her authority within the parameters of company policy. I requested connection to someone with greater authority. I was contacted by Brittany, who said she was the department manager and requested that I email some backup documentation for her to take to her accounting department. Lo and behold, all emails have been returned as undeliverable and the issue has yet to be resolved.

I appreciate this opportunity to voice my dissatisfaction and any progress that can be made toward resolution.

Animoto is hopeless, after I cancelled in ITunes, it came back again, kept charging me for nothing. Keeps changing Expired status to Renewed. Can’t leave balance in ITunes account for other stuff I want, in case it gets stolen by hopeless Animoto.

My exact experience as well. I subscribed for a one month membership and paid via PayPal. I completed the project successfully. Animoto sent a subscription renewal notice that I did not authorize or activate. My PayPal account continued to be charged for the next 15 months. I contacted Animoto's Customer Success Department. A refund was issued for 3 months of charges. Salliannne stated that this refund was in excess of the company's refund policy. I was not satisfied by this remedy and asked to begin a conversation with someone of greater authority. I received an email from Brittany, who said she was the Customer Success manager and requested documentation to take to her accounting department. I forwarded same and now all emails are returned as undeliverable. Pitiful business practice.

Review: they are charging my credit card 29.99 a month which is not even their advertised price I have never ordered anything from this company and dont know how they got my information. I tried to contact them online but you have to log in I do not have a log in and I am not willing to give them access to my FB to log in, you can not contact the company by phone to be able to stop the charges.Desired Settlement: I want them to stop charging my credit card

Review: As Founder and CEO of a newly launched business, I took a giant leap of faith and paid the $499 subscription fee for a Premium Pro Account with Animoto. The primary factor in selecting the Premium Pro Account versus the less expensive subscription options was the advertised "Custom Post Roll" feature, giving us the ability to create videos and add our logo at the end for a professional look (as in the "SweetSpud" video ad currently being promoted by Animoto). I called Animoto's Customer Service number (###-###-####) and left a message requesting a custom post roll, but no one returned my call. I then submitted a written request to Animoto via email ([redacted]) for a custom post roll on Friday, 9/*/13 with the following: Hi, We have a Premium Pro account with Animoto. We'd like to put in a request for a custom postroll for (name of my company) videos as soon as possible. I've attached our logo in a jpeg file (we have other file formats if you need them). Please let me know if there's anything else you need from us to help make this happen. Thanks for your time! [redacted] Customer Service Coordinator, replied with the following email later that same day: Sep ** 02:56 pm (PDT) We will get that started right away and let you know when it is ready. Then you just have to select the option to have it on your video under advanced settings. -[redacted] Customer Service Coordinator I called the Customer Service number on Monday, 9/**/13, couldn't get through (it seemed Animoto was having some phone service issues), again on Tuesday several times because they were still having phone issues, and was finally able to leave another message, but again, no one returned my call. I called again on Wednesday, 9/**/13, had difficulty getting through so had to call several times, and was finally able to leave another message explaining that several important business projects were being held up because we were waiting on the post roll to add to two different video presentations. So I sent a second email with the following: Hi [redacted], Thank you for the email. Can you please provide a date as to when the Custom Postroll will be done? As a side note, I've been trying to call your customer service number since Friday and cannot get through. It seems that the number is not working at all. This is the number I have: ###-###-####. Is this correct? If so, are you having service issues? Kind regards [redacted] sent me an email later that afternoon to say the following: Yes, that is the correct number and we should have your post roll done today. -[redacted] Customer Service Coordinator Expecting the post roll to be finished on Wednesday, I kept checking my Animoto account throughout Wednesday and the better part of Thursday... no post roll ever appeared. So I called again on Thursday, 9/**/13 to inquire about the status, left another message, and had a member of my team send another email with the following: Hello, We'd like to put in a second request for a post roll with our company logo. Please see attachment with both ai and eps files. We submitted our first request by email last week but haven't received it yet. Our CEO also left a couple messages by phone. Several very important projects are on hold waiting for this. [redacted] had emailed our CEO yesterday and said that it would probably be finished yesterday, but we're still waiting for it on this end. Can someone please email us back and let us know when you can get this done? Thanks. Appreciate your time. It is now Friday, 9/**/13 and we are still waiting for the post roll. I called the Customer Service number and left another message today and sent yet another email but have not heard back from anyone. I paid $499 for this service to promote my business. All I need is that dang post roll to move forward and finish these projects. What does a girl have to do to get a post roll around here?!Desired Settlement: A post roll with our logo, please.

The business against whom I filed a complaint (complaint ID [redacted]) has resolved the issue at hand. I am satisfied with the resolution and service provided. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

Respectfully,

Review: I signed up online for a MONTHLY subscription for $39.00 for a video-making service. Animoto then AUTOMATICALLY continued to bill my credit card. Being that I am inundated with daily emails, including frivolous ones from this company, I didn't notice emails stating they had charged me. When I did catch it, Animoto, via email, assured me they would credit me but said I didn't "uncheck" a box when I ordered that automatically continued the service. After waiting a month for the credit to show up, I see they only credited me one month instead of the 4 months. This company has no phone number and replies to emails with "templated" responses that don't even address the customer's complaint. I received one response which I replied to that didn't even address my concern and restated my problem. They sent the same "templated" response again.Desired Settlement: I think Animoto should credit me for the unordered months of service that they automatically charged me for. Anyone can see that I used this service the ONE month I ordered it in May, and then NO activity during June-August, in which they charged me $39.00 every month. 3 months x $39 =$117.00 refund.

Review: I have tried to reach this company by email and by voice mail leaving many messages with no return call. This company has been charging my credit card for the past two years with a $30.00 charge. I didn't realize it in the 2012 billing but did the other day when they charged my credit card $30.00 on 6/**/13. I immediately called my credit card company to verify that this had been done and it had. They told me I needed to contact the company and have them call my credit card company to have it credited. Needless to say Animoto will not return my calls or emails. I had gone on line to find out what company this was and found that I had used them in 2011. They had my credit card and was billing me in 2012 and 2013. When I found this out I had gone on their site to immeditely stop any future charges to my credit card since I do not use their services. I have tried to get this $30 off my credit card on the day they put it on with no success.Desired Settlement: I would like my credit card credited for the $30 they have charged me on 6/**/13. I realize since I didn't notice the charge in 2012 I can't get that but I do want this charge for this year credited back to me.

Sincerely,

Review: I signed up for one month of service. When they charged me for a second month of service, I immediately cancelled my account and then contacted them for a refund because I no longer required their service. They responded to me and said they don't give refunds. And that I can have another month of their service at the professional level.

If I wanted to continue using their site, I would pay for it. I don't even have an account and they are charging my credit card for their service.Desired Settlement: Refund me $19.99 and never charge my credit card again.

Review: I bought a "1 month" service for video editing through Animoto. After contacting customer service due to files getting lost, I decided to accept the $5 loss and give up on my project. Nevertheless, I recently realised that I have been recurrently charged for several months. There was no warning and no communication ins spite of having no activity on the website for months. It appears that the default is a recurring charge. Also, although they still keep the practice of making the 1 month service as a recurrent charged subscription, back then the interface looked a much more confusing and it was easier to be mislead than it is today.Desired Settlement: Refund

Review: This company and I did business in 2010. I had a year service contract that I never renewed. Now for the second time since they have ran an unauthorized charge. They have no direct contact number other then a voice recording to go online. I have had to file my second dispute with my credit card company to reverse these charges.Desired Settlement: Credit back the charge and correct their data base from charging my account in error again. An apology would be nice since this is the second time I've been billed in error and had to waste my time to have this corrected.
