House Issues with Anatares
Problems with house ceiling had lanes in it. I think about 6 months after we moved. Floors had cracks in it. Cabinets in the house broken and screws coming out the cabinets hitting me in the face. Still having those problems. Now A/C problems in the house. Poor equipment in the house! Would not refer any one else for a Anatares Home ever!

They refuse to honor their warranty
My floors are peeling. They (Antares) claimed they were wood floors. However, they are far from anything resembling wood. It's some sort of cheap textured vinyl over some kind of manufactured board material. It's not in any way made of wood. The floors started peeling about 6 months ago. It's now September 1, 2021, as I type this. We moved in on November 17, 2020. So we haven't been here very long at all. The builder says we got the floor wet and that's what caused the peeling. They claim you cannot get the floor wet at all. They put the flooring in the kitchen where there's a good chance of water dripping on the floor. They also put the same flooring in front of the entryway and the back door. Again, in areas where water/snow/moisture can be present. I'm looking at $1000's in repair costs as a result. I have also been dealing with an ongoing HVAC system issue that neither the builder nor installer can seem to figure out. I have cracks in the exterior mortar between the bricks they have also refused to address. We were so excited to buy our first new home. That excitement has turned into a lot of buyers remorse. Do yourself a favor, DO NOT BUY YOUR NEXT HOME FROM ANTARES.

Beware
We were preapproved for a loan through their “preferred” lender. Sent to design studio to pick our “upgrades” at which time we had to pay percentage of our upgrades. One week before closing date, we are informed that because income drop due to covid we will not be getting the loan. Nor will we be getting our earnest money or cost of upgrades we paid for back! Their contract states that once a preapproved letter is signed, the money is non refundable...isn’t that ironic? You’re approved so go pick out your stuff, oh but wait, we can back out and take all your money and still resell your house at higher price with all those upgrades you paid for! Buyers beware! Couldn’t choose no star option or I would have!

Once they have your money, they no longer care. I am dealing with a mess of a situation in my Antares home. HVAC isn't functioning properly, floors are peeling, cracks in the exterior masonry, the driveway is crumbling. It goes on and on.

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 10808423, and find that the meeting with Antares is a good start to resolving our issuesWe will be looking to move forward to a resolution and have opened a line of communication with them

Dear Sirs:We have listened to the recording that has been provided to us There is no commitment that the home would be completed in December, rather the comment was made by Ms [redacted] that, at the time of the recording, the home was anticipated to be completed in December I believe the date of the recording according to Ms [redacted] *s August 2015.The executed Sales Contract clearly states that certain issues may delay the completion of the home.......issues such as the very well documented, significantly above amount of rainfall and severe weather experienced in North Texas in the spring of Most builders lost between 45-days of production due to the weather according to other builders and industry expertsOn Friday, January 8th I spoke to Mr [redacted] about the Revdex.com complaint filed by Ms [redacted] and the weather issues that had primarily led to the delay in the closing of the home Per Mr [redacted] , they felt that Antares had not communicated with them sufficiently regarding the anticipated closing date We discussed his frustration and I communicated that his home should be completed in the second half of February, but of course the closing could be delayed if we had an abundance of weather issues, etc.I think it was a good conversataion and Mr [redacted] seemed satisfied.Respectfully, [redacted]

I, along with Antares' VP-Production [redacted] , met with Mr/Mrs [redacted] today, 9/18/15, at their home to review their situation I took several photos I believe we had a good conversation about the situation and I believe we understand what the [redacted] are requesting.I explained that this situation was complicated as it was likely going to involve other parties and that it could take some time to come to a final resolution of any kind I asked that they bear with us during the process They both agreed that they understood it was potentially a complicated issue and that it could take some time.I considered it a good meeting

Dear Sirs,We need an additional few days to fully research and respond to Mr D***'s complaint We commit to responding by 4/20/Thanks, [redacted] M***

Good afternoon.....attached for your review are 1) a written response to each issue raised by the Customer in their claim, and 2) supporting signed documentsthank you, T***

The Customer should be hearing from a different member of our management team today to re-look at the issue I suggest we revisit this complaint in a couple of weeks thanks

To whom it may concern,We have an extended history with these Customers dating back to the summer of In January 2015, they selected a home with the assistance of their Realtor and after several meetings they said they were ready to write a contract Our Sales Consutant prepared the contract, and waited with the Realtor for the Customer to come to the sales office and execute the contract The Customer came into the sales office upset about a personal matter and did not sign the contract We were fine with that....we get it.....things happen. In March, the Customers, along with their Realtor, returned The homesite the Customers had selected in January was no longer available However, they did like a different lot where we had already 'started' a spec home Unfortunately, the home we had started was not one that interested the Customer So, we stopped the spec start (we spend money before a Customer sees any activity....engineering, fees, etc) that was in process on the different lot that was acceptable to the Customer and they executed a contract to purchase the home According to the Sales Consultant, the Customers looked at another home that was under construction at the time to see the bath layout and breakfast nook According to the Sales Consultant, the Customers liked the changes in our home designs After executing the contract and providing the required initial earnest money, the Customers came back to the community several times to look at the progress of the other home that was under construction It is appropriate to note that the contract clearly indicates that the earnest money is only refundable if the Customer fails to obtain an acceptable take out letter from an acceptable lender In this case, the Customer had an approved take out letter by late March.Nearly a month later, in April, the Customers indicated they had concerns about being able to access the master tub They were about to have their first appointment in our Selection StudioWe have a process where we allow certain approved changes to a homes designs or features depending on the request and depending on where we are in construction As part of this, in addition to the cost of the requested change, we have an 'undo fee' which is a deposit we require from Customers in case they change their mind and do not close on the home This undo fee is meant to protect us in case we have to undo changes Customers make in order to make the home more marketable It took some time to come up with the correct pricing and there was some confusion in regards to the documentation of the undo fee, but there were several explantions from each of the Realtor, Selection Center Coordinator and the Sales Consultant to the Customer clarifying the fact that the undo fee was just a depositWe normally allow visits to the Selection Center This Customer, along with their Realtor, had appointments The Customer had a very difficult time deciding on their selections. In summary, homebuilding is a fairly compex activity because of all the moving parts We start spending money almost immediately when a Customer executes a contractThere are costs that a Customer sometimes has a hard time appreciating such as the cost to stop a home that is started, the time value of a lost inventory unit when the market is very active, the cost of the Selection Center Counselor, the cost of our Associates in our Purchasing Department, and dont forget there is simply the cost of processesing the contracts and paperwork that goes along with selling and building a home.We feel that we spent a tremendous amount of time and effort with the Customers and their Realtor In our opinion, the Customers were indecisive and created much of any inefficiency that was encountered We believe the Customer's Realtor would support our conclusion as well.Respectfully submitted

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me Regards, [redacted]

The response from Antares has more information than has been given to usIt seems that Antares is more concerned with its relationship with the Revdex.com than with its customersAlthough Antares claims this is a complicated situation, it stands to reason {based on their stonewall tactics) that their subcontractors building material is substandard and the quality of workmanship is also substandardMy family is in dismay that Antares expects us to bear the burden of liability negotiations between Antares, their subcontractors, material manufacturers, financial, contractual and business practice problemsThey are a large corporation and have lawyersWe are a single income family that cannot afford attorneys nor can afford to repair something in which the builder was remiss in supervising materials and workmanship of their subcontractorsAside from the materials used, There is also another problem that was presented to Antares about fencingThere is no reason to consult any attorney about fencing erected by Antares that is approximately sqftover our property line, into the neighboring lot (based on certified site survey which Antares has a copy)That is a no-brainer"Y'all put the fence in the wrong place".Antares proposed a meetingWe responded, that we can meet with certain stipulationsAntares declined to meet with any stipulationsWe requested any information that is delaying the repairsAntares refused that requestWe have sent several emails to Antares requesting updates and have had little success in responses, Not even a phone callAntares had requested documentation from us based on our claimsWe forwarded documentation immediately to them giving full disclosure but no disclosure from them.We ask that Antares to fix the fence, then deal with its internal financial affairs on its own timeRevdex.com, Please let us know if it is perceived that we are being unreasonable.Attached is the UPC label (given to Antares) attached to the fence posts embedded into the ground for structural posts used in constructing our fence

We appreciate the telephone call on January 8, 2016, but respectfully reject the response from Antares for the following reasons:The audio from the telephone call with [redacted] occurred on August 20, @ 2:13pmThe extended rainy weather ended in JulyShe confirmed a December completion date in August which is long after the extended weather in JuneIn addition, we received an email from [redacted] on August 24, confirming again, a December completion dateThis is a few days after the call with [redacted] Please review the attachmentsWe entered into a contract with Antares to have a completed home within six months of the contract dateThe initial build time quoted was six monthsNo exact date was given, but the month wasThat is clear [redacted] reiterates this during the call [redacted] conveys this in her emailThis was an escalated issue when [redacted] asked [redacted] to call and answer our questionsI realize that sometimes people make mistakesNo one is perfectI am unsure if this is the result of a mistake being made or intentional disregard while working on other homesOur emails were ignored from October 20, until current date We sent emails to [redacted] ***, [redacted] , and ***The only communication received in the last three months from Antares is from Tommy/Todd [redacted] on January 8, After the Revdex.com submitted our complaint to Antares, MrTodd [redacted] telephoned Mr [redacted] We have sent countless emails and called several timesNo one from Antares responded until the Revdex.com was notifiedIf the weather is to blame for the delay, why were we completely ignored for several months? Someone within this company could have easily conveyed that messageIf the weather is indeed the blame for the delay, it would delay our completion, and affect everyone building in the communitySo, did Antares ignore everyone building or just us?

We can only meet after hours due to our schedule. Antares never stated the meeting would be in Our home in their statement. Also, we are unable to accommodate the number of people Antares intends to bring to the meeting. I would suggest they limit the number of people they bring to Our home. Previously, the Antares' representative showed up at Our home several times without our prior knowledge and without an appointment. Antares representative came through the back yard where my children were playing instead of ringing the doorbell. We look forward to meeting with the person Antares appoints.

Mr [redacted] has raised a very complicated set of issues and we are taking those issues very seriously To that end, we have spent significant internal hours doing research; we have had two meetings with the subcontractor who purchased the fence material and installed the fence; we have talked to the material distributor and I think we have talked to the manufacturer; we have had numerous conversations with our attorney and he has been in touch with others in the homebuilding industry that might help us land on the appropriate resolutionAs you know I met with Mr& Mrs [redacted] a few weeks ago At that meeting, I told them that based on what I heard them saying this was going to take some time to get our hands around the issue and come up with a recommended plan should one be required By the time I was out of the community after the meeting, we already had an initial meeting time set up with the fencing subcontractorThe point to all this is that we are trying to address the issues and we just want to make sure that if we indeed need to do something, we are doing the right something! Please advise if you require anything further at this time,

The customer's complaint will be addressed no later than the end of November The issue raised involves more than just this customer, and we are working towards a resolution for all affected customersI have been out of the state since Friday. thanks

We reject the insulting Antares response from their
higher managementWe have been homeowners of new and pre-owned homes for over forty
yearsDuring those years we have experienced remodeling as well as major
structural issuesWe were being very careful to get our final home, designed
with the best products the builder had available to selectAntares was aware
of this importance from the beginning
It is obvious, Antares will not take any responsibility
for our canceling this contractUnfortunately, we were mislead that Antares
could be the home builder requiring whatever amount of time needed for our
major home investmentThe process is simplified when a customer accepts the
standard choices or only a few upgraded selectionsWe experienced trouble
selecting upgrades because they had trouble defining what was standardThere
were many choices, prices were not immediately available, and upgrade
selections became jumbledAntares did not provide the help we needed for
electrical and lighting layout, additional fencing and other details to
specialize our homeAntares did not have the upgrade list with all prices
complete and correct, even though they were pressuring us to signWe were on
track to purchase a lengthy list of expensive upgrades
Antares never put the “undo fee” costing $12,500.00,
explained on a documented paper as to how this would be handled at closingWe
don’t believe that the master bath would be jack-hammered to restore it to the
plan design master tubAntares would sell the house “as is” with all the other
upgrades selected
Due to limited characters allowed for our complaint, many
facts were not statedThe house plan was a good design plan for us and it took
many months of looking to find this one-story planThe house we saw in March,
with the sales representative, was in its early stages of drywall and the
master tub was not installed at that time of choosing this planThe printed
diagram on Plan only showed the placement of the master tubThe sales
representative never mentioned this plan having a new design master tub with a
different shape and dimensions from the expected version master tub in their
housesWe witnessed her surprise response on another visit after our surprise
discovery had been reported to herShe was showing the house to other visitors
and we joined them wanting to see the house againApparently, the sales
representative became surprised at that time, from her vocal comment, when she
entered the master bathroomEveryone was in agreement this style master tub
wasn’t acceptable for us due to senior limited mobilityThe sales
representative did spend the time notifying corporate that we needed the master
tub to be changed to their usual and our expected designShe was trying to
work with us because she knew the importance placed on this house for usWhen
we returned to the sales representative with our realtor, we asked to review
the NSO letter that no one was able to give usThe sales representative had
not seen the NSO letterShe commented about the major structural modification
cost quotedGenerally this type of high cost is for an added garageThe
statement from her appeared to show she was being sympathetic to usIf she had
known, she would have given us the “heads up” information earlierIf this
information had been told to us at the beginning, we would not have chosen this
planWe were given cost information on elevation design, structural
modification options, and on the extended patio, as well as changing the dining
room to a study before signing a contractWe were not informed until April
from the VP of Operations about this major issue that has resulted in our complaint
about Antares
The sales representative did spend a lot of time with us
and we clearly stated to her our appreciationWe respectfully waited for her
finishing with other visitors as she was becoming overworked due to
understaffing at that timeOur history with Antares since 2014, and returning
in March indicated we liked the Antares homesWe liked the sales
representatives during those several monthsWe were excited
The surprise discovery was made by us after the contract
process started wasting everyone’s time and money involvedWe are well aware
of what has been involved in time and costsAntares insults again are
untruthful and prove their disrespect to us as an approved customer, and having
our paperwork in order to not delay the processAny inefficiencies were due to
Antares delays
We are upset over canceling this contract, as well as the
sales representative involved, who clearly has let it be knownUnfortunately,
she was on a well deserved vacation and Antares didn’t have the needed people
to send us the formShe sent us the form with only “Sign This”Without
further instructions given to us, the next entire morning was spent leaving
messages to corporate, to ask to whom do we send this formAfter contacting
our realtor, we informed her we were sending the form by certified mail to
corporateA message was left from corporate to give the form to our sales
representative after we mailed the formThe weekend had started and we didn’t
need further contact with the sales representative knowing she was quite irate
The form to cancel the contract, the required letter for our reason canceling
the contract, and our request for refund of our deposit was sent to corporate
The certified mail delivery of this form wasn’t received until late MondayThe
sales representative told our realtor that day she had not received our form at
the sales officeThe information was relayed we sent it certified mail to
corporateAfter the tracking showed corporate had received the form, a reply
from our sales representative, just simply stated, “Here It Is”
This is our conclusionFor the record, this has been our
first Revdex.com complaint on a business we felt needed to be filed, based on our
experience with AntaresIn the old timers days, word of mouth was the major
method that could make or break a businessAdvertising wasn’t a required
overhead cost for those businessesToday the Revdex.com is a methodWe want our
complaint to become helpful for someone else learning about purchasing a major
home investmentWe don’t want them to have the untruthful, insulting, Antares
conclusion stated about us, “the customers were indecisive and created much of
any inefficiency that was encountered”
Antares will continue building houses and build Plan
2621, but the quality and customer service remains for future customers to be
aware
The bright side to this experience, we stopped having
this house built before any groundwork started, we were fortunate to have seen
their misleading surprises before the house was built, and Antares lost our
businessWe also had this opportunity to reject Antares higher management
insults. Now, our time and nonrefundable $deposit has not
been wasted

Given the following: 1) our
history with the Customer; 2) the fact that the original builder and the
original Warranty Person are no longer with Antares; 3) differences between
items submitted by the Customer via our Warranty Request process and the Revdex.com
complaint; 4) the need for clarity
regarding some of the warranty requests
and/or noted complaints; and 5) the need to get the right people in the room to
wrap this process up, I believe the best approach is for our Production
Manager, our Warranty Manager and me the owner, to meet with the Customer to
compile a complete list of things the Customer is requesting be repaired. In the meeting, we will separate
the list between the items that are warrantable and those that are notAntares
will take care of the warrantable items even though we are outside the warranty
period. We will not take care of items
that are not warrantable. If the Customer is not satisfied
with the final outcome, they can, of course, come back to the Revdex.com.Antares has an excellent
reputation for both taking care of our Customers after they close their home
and honoring our warranty. If the Customer is agreeable to
this approach, please let us know and we will begin scheduling that
meeting. I would note, our Warranty
Manager is on vacation until 4/18/16, but we will set up the meeting as soon as
possible upon his return
