This is the worst company I have ever done business with After phone calls trying to find out when they were going to do my driveway they finally did the tear out When I called to have someone meet me at the site to go over some issues with the base the run around started again They refused to make the corrections and then sent a letter saying they would not complete the project Tom Knox the owner never returned my phone calls during the whole process This company is a joke Was well prepared to sue them but after finding another company that came in and fixed their poor workmanship, I actually got the project done cheaper I wish I had read the reviews about this company, everything your read about them is true Don't walk away from them RUN Also how can a company claim A+ rating with Revdex.com that has a 100% negative Customer Review Rating?

We were contacted by Mr*** on June 14, that he has some issues with the driveway we installed on June 9, We went out on June 14, to evaluate
and found the driveway to be structurally sound with some rough areasWe recommended to let is cure
and settle until next Spring Asphalt and Concrete Buy Knox sent a response to Mr*** By U.SMail on June 18, stating we will come back next year to apply the Emulsion sealant at no charge to himMr*** called
on August 15, to schedule a meeting with MrKnoxMrKnox has been unusually busy and has not been able to contact Mr*** and has already given his
recommendation as to what we will do to take care of his issuesAsphalt and Concrete Buy Knox provides our customers with information (that they sign they have read)
educating them on the appearance and care of asphaltwhich clearly states asphalt is a rocky, porus materialOur records show we did excavated and tons of base
and then used tons of asphaltWe would love to hear back from Mr*** to authorize the seal next spring as that is what we recommend Sincerely,

We were impressed with the salesman's explanation of how they would tear out and put in the news asphalt drivewayThere were several quotes and we decided to go with KnoxWe are disappointed as we called the day after installation with some concernsFirst, if we were not home the crew would have not capped the block under our garage as written in with the initial contractThe attentiveness of doing a nice job was missed with several spots of kicked up asphalt on the sidingA portion was not fully rolled thus leaving a bump in the drivewayIt took over weeks to get someone to come out to look at it leaving our cars in the streetInitially the staff coming out said we will send you the results in the "Mail"This is not service I would expect for the money we paidTheir guarantees are not what is marketed

we sighned contract on 7-16-, I was told month behind, it took and a half , after several calls they started around octand finished in november.I was happy it was done, but two weeks after I called and asked for a final walk through, *** *** *** *** *** said they were closed, and *** assured me they would be out when the snow melts, her words not minei wrote everything down so I would not forget.I called, left message, no responce, *** did call I was busy, I called back more times and explained I need a walk through, *** shows up no call or text, then sends a letter that we have a 10yr warranty that will not cover any of these issues, how does she know all my issues without talking to me?? all I want is my driveway taken care of and questions answered, and its not money because everything was paid in fullplease save your money and go too another company, and never give them your credit card number

I am rejecting this response
because:Shortly after installation of driveway at the beginning of November 2015, I contacted Asphalt & Concrete Buy Knox and spoke to Patty about the poor installationShe came out and looked at it and I did not hear backI contacted Patty again on 11/24/to find out what the resolution wasShe said they would come out next season and cut out bad part of driveway and patch itI told them that was unacceptable and wanted the whole driveway replaced as that is what I paid forPatty said they will replace the driveway next springI received a letter from them in stating they will fix the issueWhen I contacted Asphalt & Concrete Buy Knox in May 2016, Patty said she would look at it again and recommended sealcoating the drivewaySealcoating the driveway will not fix the gully in the center and contradicts her letter from when she acknowledged an issue with the installationI would like all my money back for the driveway so that I may hire a professional company to replace it

Asphalt & Concrete Buy Knox, Inchas got to be one the worst asphalt contracting companies out there and the worst part, the Owner and SrManager are my neighbors Today is Friday, 6/19/and it has been weeks and day since they tore out my old driveway and put down the base for a new asphalt driveway I was told when they put the base down that it would be complete with new asphalt in one to two weeks The premise for this entire project is my son's graduation party scheduled for 6/ They has been little to no communication and when I've taken it upon myself to contact them, it's always the same response, they need to check with scheduling The last straw was this morning when I called again to see if I'm on the schedule, since no one has contacted me I was told yes, you're scheduled for next Thursday, the day BEFORE my son's graduation party I think I'm still in shock....so disappointed and so upset at this point, I'm not sure what to do I've never given a review,

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Asphalt & Concrete Buy Knox did send a crew and my driveway was seal coated on August 1, This was done free of chargeThe driveway is now a uniform color, with the exception of a small area, but the crack and the rough patch of rocks on the surface have simply been painted over by the seal coating and are still there
I did express concerns before the seal coating was appliedI did not purchase seal coating because I assumed the product would hold up as guaranteed without it and I did not want the maintenance involved with reapplying the seal coating every few yearsI also asked about the crack and was told that it would be repaired before the seal coat was appliedDuring the seal coating process I again asked about the crack and was told it was not big enough to require repair and the seal coat would take care of it
I did expect a follow up call from the customer service representative after the seal coating was applied inquiring if their solution was satisfactoryI did not get a call but a week later I did receive a copy of the letter sent to the Revdex.com stating that the seal coating should take care of the issues
I remain dissatisfied and would not recommend this company for asphalt installations

I am writing again so that it is not concluded that I am satisfied with the company's responseI did read the "Everything You Need to Know" booklet before I signed the contractIn bold letters on the contract it states, "year guarantee against break-up, pot holes, weed growth"The driveway was installed in October I had issues with the workmanship right away and then the weeds and ants appeared within months (the following spring)When one of the men came out I asked if
my driveway was representative of his company's workHe said it was notI asked him if he would put a picture of my driveway in his brochure and he said noI asked if my driveway had nice, tamped edges as advertised and the answer was noSo, I do feel as if I did get an inferior installation

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/09/22) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The work was not completed to acceptable, normal standards and gaps and holes still exist. Two workers arrived 21 Sept 2015, 2:30 PM; they applied DAP 3.0 Concrete and Masonry self-leveling sealant in the gap between the existing concrete and new sidewalk. The worker indicated that he purchased (and used) 9 tubes of the compound from Menards at $9 each; there were 5 empty tubes in our garbage; I do not know where the other 4 tubes are. He indicated that the compound would self level as it dried. Within one hour of applying the compound, gaps and holes appeared as the compound settled into the gaps and holes that were meant to be filled per the initial complaint. Prior to the workers applying the Ultra Premium Penetrating concrete sealer, I inquired if they would clean the concrete prior to applying the sealer. I had swept the concrete prior to their arrival, and it appeared clean. They indicated that the concrete must be dry, and proceeded to spray on the sealer without cleaning it. Within one hour of the application, unsightly stains and spots appeared on the concrete; those stains remain today. I would like the owner or manager of the company come to our home to review the issue in person; I don't think they would accept the quality of the work for their home's front entrance. Because of the slow response for the company to resolve the issue of the holes and gaps between the concrete foundation and sidewalk, we are willing to purchase additional tubes of the same compound from Menards and apply the compound ourselves. Due to their slow response and now it is fall weather, we want the work completed before it gets too cold to apply the compound. We will deduct the cost of the tubes of the compound, indicated to be $9 per tubes, from Invoice PA18-2015. This invoice is for $175 to cover the second 1/2 for the Ultra Premium Penetrating Sealer. Because the Ultra Premium Penetrating Sealer caused unsightly stains and marks that remain on our sidewalk, we want the company to clean the newly created stains and re-apply the sealer. If they are unwilling to comply with this request, we request a full refund of $175 for the down payment we paid for the sealer per contract signed 15 April 2015.

I would not recommend this company if you want a project done and issues addressed in a timely manner. I signed a contract in June and was givin a discount if I could wait until August for the driveway to be could be completed. I started calling the company on August 16 to see when it would be started. I was told in a week or two. After numerous phone calls with either excuses or no return calls the tear out and base was done on October 3 on which I issued a check. After that I called every two weeks to see when it would be completed. On October 25 I was told that I would have to wait until spring for them to lay the asphalt and they would winterized the base. On November 1, after threatening with Revdex.com and Channel 5 investigates I was told they had a new crew and was promised they would be there next week. The crew arrived at my home on November 2 and started the job at 10:30 and was done at roughly 1:00. I gave them the balance owed. On November 4 I looked over the driveway and was not pleased. At the bottom of the front steps it was not level and water pooled up. Also there were spots in the driveway I was displeased with as well.My concern is that with winter coming that will turn to ice and be hazardous. On November 8 a woman arrived and looked at it and took some pictures. After quite a time of arguing I was told me that was the way it was supposed to be and to put sand on it and when they seal it in the spring it will look just fine. N November 16 I received a letter that this was the way it is and they will be out in the spring to seal it. I am extremely unhappy with my experience with this company and would never recommend them to anyone.

The stucco on my house was damaged by the concrete chute when my new steps were being put in. This was last summer and they keep promising to send someone out to repair it. There have been several times set for this which have been cancelled. They were supposed to come out today on 8/30/15 and didn't show or even call to cancel.

this company is the worst I have ever dealt with. We signed on to have a new driveway put in in june and the rep said it would be around labor day or so when it would be put in with possible delays due to weather maybe extending it a few weeks. Here it is two months past labor day and we are still waiting for the job to be completed. I realize it has been a wet summer but a two month delay? I'm not even commenting on their workmanship but anytime I call to get a definite answer they are vague and always uncertain as to when the job will be completed.Bottom line...if you want a job done in a timely manner stay away from this place!

While I know they did their best at the end of the year to get a small amount of asphalt to lengthen a berm in front of my garage door, it did not fix the problem of water coming into the garage.
I left a vm message Thanksgiving, and I know they were closed, and it's the end of season, but I received no response.

I understand that the season has ended. But the company dropped the ball on getting out to provide a solution before the season ended. Quite frankly I'm tired of hearing excuses. I now go another 6 months with water and ice in my garage.
I want this driveway replaced at no cost to me.

Sorry for the late response, as you know we are closed for the winter and I am not in the Office and receive messages once a week.
In response to Mr. [redacted]'s last complaint we plan on meeting in the spring with Mr. [redacted], Mr. Knox, the asphalt foreman and myself to see how this matter can be resolved.
I will contact Mr. [redacted] by phone to set a convenient time to meet.

To start, I am not one to write reviews: positive or negative. But I must warn others about this company.

The entire process was slow. It took the team several months just to get out to house. When they did show up, they cracked the concrete within the garage and did not report this issue. This had to be discovered by the us: the homeowners. Getting someone out to inspect this issue was difficult. After many calls, they finally sent someone out. The problem was resolved, but now our garage floor looks "iffy" at best. Because we needed to get this driveway in to put in a path, I bit the bullet and said move on. It couldn't get any worse. Right? It did.

Finally, the driveway was put in; however, this too was not done correctly. Far too much was dug out on the sides. When we asked about this, they said this was standard practice. There is no way that an additional two feet plus on either side is standard practice.

The final straw is that our so called "new" driveway looks amateur: swirl marks and indents. Basically, they failed to smooth out the driveway. And, to make things worse, there is now a large crack across the entire driveway. There is no way they would put our driveway on any advertisement or promotional material.

Final advice: spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

Once again we would like the opportunity to show Mr. [redacted] that at this time we will apply the emulsion sealant and show how well the driveway will be.
We will take another look in the spring of 2017 to see how it has settled and take care of any issues that may arise as there is a 10 year warranty.

We were contracted to remove and replace Mr. [redacted]'s concrete apron, it seems very strange he does not have a negative thing to say about the work we did on the apron.
It is really discouraging that a business can do good work in good faith with a signed contract and have a unstable, greedy, rude man slander you on social media and we have no way to respond to define our company's reputation.

RE: Case # XXXXXXXX
I am replying to the August 12, 2015 letter written to the Revdex.com by the customer service representative at Asphalt and Concrete Buy Knox. The Revdex.com had to contact this company twice to get a response. You can tell the type of company that you are dealing with when complaints about their work and customer service are answered by verbal bullying, personal attacks and slandering of the character of the complainant. In her letter, the customer service representative called me unstable, greedy and rude.
Greedy? Through the Revdex.com complaint process, I offered the option of Knox filling the cracks and doing a complimentary seal coat as a means of settling this dispute. Knox has decided to offer nothing. The pictures that the customer service representative enclosed of my asphalt driveway make a point of showing two old existing cracks that have been there for years. One is from a tree root and the other is above the city water line that crosses the driveway. In no way, have I ever indicated that Knox was responsible for these cracks. Knox is responsible for the 3 cracks (10" each in length) next to the concrete apron they installed. These cracks are getting wider every day and, if allowed to remain without being filled, they will get worse. These cracks were not there prior to Knox doing the work. They were cracked by their skid loader. Please note that I certainly am not in need financially for Knox to do the seal coat. I am pursuing this on principle.
I noticed in her letter that the customer service representative does not address the footings that were never "core-filled" causing my concrete garage floor to crack. She admitted on two occasions that they had not been core-filled.
She also indicated in her letter that it was strange that I did not say anything negative about the concrete apron that Knox installed. If she wants a review, here it is: one end of the apron has a low spot where water pools when it rains. The apron is also pitched toward the garage floor which causes water to run into the garage when it rains. However, the surface of the new apron looks good.
Rude? I was necessary for me to call Knox at least 5 times, between April and the middle of July 2015, because this customer service representative would not contact me. During the last call, I told her that I was not going to be ignored any longer. She hung up on me. Not once during our conversations did I even raise my voice. I did tell her that I disagreed with her interpretation of how the asphalt was cracked. She attributed the cracks next to the apron to "vibration" from trucks driving down our one-half block cul-de-sac street 30 -40' away. This is pretty farfetched. She seemed irked that I did not buy her explanation.
Unstable? I am not even sure what this means but it certainly is slanderous and now is part of the file at the Revdex.com.
In the last sentence of her letter, the customer service representative says she is unhappy with negative reviews about Asphalt and Concrete Buy Knox being posted on social media sites. Perhaps, she is referring to [redacted]'s [redacted] where Asphalt and Concrete Buy Knox has 26 reviews of which 67% are D and F. Their overall rating is C so the company is not recommended by [redacted]'s [redacted] Maybe she means negative reviews on Yelp (3), Facebook, Yellowbot (4) or BuildZoom. If Asphalt and Concrete Buy Knox did quality work, had good customer service and treated its customers with respect, it would not have to worry about negative reviews online.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

RE: Case [redacted]
In response to Mr. [redacted]'s last letter, most of Mr. [redacted]'s statements are incorrect. First of all Mr. [redacted]'s calls were in a very negative condescending tone and very demanding, he did call and said he was not going to be ignored and He hung up.
Mr. [redacted] told me we did not core fill the footings I told he I did not know (I NEVER told him we did not core fill) because I did not have to order with me. When I got back to the office and checked the file we did core fill and I let him know in our next conversation so I don't why he is bringing this up now, as far as me telling him the cracks could be from a truck going down the street and vibrating that was one of many examples of how asphalt can crack. I also sent the pictures of his driveway to show the age and condition of the asphalt.
Asphalt and Concrete Buy Knox will not do any further work at the [redacted] residence as the cracks are not big enough to fill and we will not seal coat his driveway.

Mr. [redacted] called on October 15, 2015 to complain that there are stain marks from the leaves falling on the driveway and sidewalk and some boot marks. (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
First off, there already ARE pits, divots and pockmarks embedded in the ENTIRE surface of the driveway and sidewalk. It is not just a matter of washing off leaf stains. These holes and boot prints in the concrete will only get bigger, erode and crack through the winter. And the driveway has rough, uneven surfaces, which the company acknowledges. The driveway and sidewalk are defective and unsightly. This work is covered by warranty and needs to be replaced correctly at no cost to us. Secondly, we already have paid for a permanent sealcoat. The company is not giving us anything we have not already paid for. They already owe us a sealcoat, to be applied in spring when the weather warms. The company also stalled and stalled in pouring the concrete. There was plenty of time to do the work in warmer, better weather, but the company chose to wait until the absolute last minute. Company was very slow to return our calls and let us know what was going on. The Revdex.com needs to make sure its members deliver on their promises and provide good customer service. This company failed on that.

In response to Mr. [redacted], First of all we do not stall on the installations, we schedule jobs according to the order they are received and weather. As we stated we will be back in the spring of 2016 to reevaluate the condition of the concrete and also have a representative from the concrete supplier (Cemstone) evaluate and report to Mr. [redacted] their findings.
Asphalt and Concrete Buy Knox stands behind our product and warranty we will resolve any structural issues when we recheck in the spring of 2016.

This is in response to Patty's comments. First off it is pretty easy to verify the number of calls I made to them since I make all my calls from a cell phone which appears on my bill that is how I know how many times I called them. Second I never had any interaction with your crew since I was not on the site when they where there. It is of no surprise though that this company cannot get their story straight.

Since it is Thanksgiving weekend all I want to say is that I give Thanks that your did not complete that project so I could find another company that could correct your poor workmanship, complete the project in 1 week and the icing on the cake my total cost was less than your original bid.

We are sorry for your frustration. In reviewing your contract you signed a checklist that states " Any repair needed due to the removal of concrete or asphalt against the house, garage, or other structures with less than 2' clearance, the...

repairs will be done at cost. For example: siding, brick, woodwork, fencing, etc. " The brick ledge in question was placed on top of the existing concrete and we had no clearance. We have pictures showing the location of the brick prior to stated. Based on our signed agreement of the statement above before the job started we are not liable for this repair. We would have worked with them to get it completed by contracting out to someone who does brick work. The fact the step is in will not really affect the repair. They can go ahead and get someone to repair this anytime. They have a copy of the checklist that clarifies who is responsible for the brick work. If you would like contact us and we can send a copy of their signed checklist.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2014/10/26) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
We hired Asphalt and Concrete Buy Knox Inc to remove a skirt in front of our garage that was cracked because they were in the concrete business and had the understanding and knowledge to do the job. When their employee came out and removed the concrete, the employee made a mistake and removed the concrete holding a brick half wall up,which caused the wall to fall. You would expect someone working in the business would know this would happen. The employee left after removing the concrete and did not inform us of his mistake. Once we realized what he had done, we called the company and let them know and they said they would put it in the notes for the job. We figured they would need to repair the wall before replacing the concrete, but we did not hear from the company for three weeks, when they finally called to let us know they were coming to put the new concrete in. We told them again at this time about the mistake their employee had made and they acted like they had never heard about it before but would check into it. The next week they came and replaced the concrete, they did not fix the wall, but they poured concrete up against it. We called them again to talk them about the wall and how it wasnt fixed but concreted in, and they said they would check into it and get back to us. They called back and said they would like to come out and take pictures. A few days later they came out and took pictures. They called back a couple of days later and said per our contract that we were responsible for their mistake, that they would find a company that could do the work at cost. They called back a few days later saying they found someone, that they would be by to look at the job and give an estimate. Three weeks went by and nobody showed up. We do not and never agreed we should be repsponsible to fix this issue. We find it unreasonable that a company we hired would come in make a mistake which causes damage, and expect us to pay for their mistake. And then on top of it, concrete the damaged wall in which brings the cost to fix it up even more than originally.
Final Business Response /* (1000, 10, 2014/11/08) */
We have things in place when we sign contracts with customers to make them aware of possible outcome of construction. Many factors are out of our control and work done by another company years ago is one of them. There installation process is the reason the brick shifted they do that all the time when place directly on the concrete. So when you remove the concrete if there is no shelf to support them they move. On the check list they signed prior to the start of work this is one o the items clearly listed so they were area of possible additional work needed and we can not always perform that work and other need to be brought in.
There is nothing more I can add to this request. We have a signed document stating we are not responsible for shifting of brick if there is not 2inches of clearance between concrete and bricks. The bricks in question were resting on top of the concrete. I will send you a copy of this document.

Final Consumer Response /* (3000, 12, 2014/11/18) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
In your response you admitted that you knew that by removing the concrete underneath the brick it will come off and fall-"all the time when placed directly on concrete". We were never told before ther was a probability that it could happen--We would of couse have oped to leave the concrete there .It was unneccessary to remove that concrete to begin with, that was not part of the original issue. YOU HAVE ALSO FAILED TO RESPOND TO THE FACT THAT YOU WERE TOLD TWICE ABOUT THE ISSUE BEFORE POURING THE CONCRETE,INSTEAD YOU JUST CONCRETED IT IN! WHICH WILL ADD TO THE REPAIR COST
