The door to door person asked 3 questions when she came to my door on the evening of December 8, 2015. The questions were deigned to solicit a human nature response to enable a follow-up. The three questions were: Do you think air quality has become better or worse or stayed the same in the past 5 years? Are you concerned about air quality inside your home or outside? Does any member of your home suffer from allergies or a respiratory condition? Any "yes" answer will yield an entry into a draw Feb 1, 2016 for $20000.
The follow-up phone call from this company ([redacted]) 2 days later begins "the tale" about the leading questions and to inform you about a free gift of $500 travel voucher for doing the survey questions...(Red Flag - 3 leading questions at the door can't be worth $500 to a solvent business) She begins to let me know about the $20000 and asks how I would spend the money.
Then I ask what does this draw have to do with your company's interest in air pollution. She begins to tell me that her company is a leader in air cleaning systems. So I ask what systems and she names the Majestic and the Defender.
Had I not recognized that there was no significant information about the company and that the door-to-door person did not know if there was a company policy to protect my personal information or where the information would be held - she simply said that "it was just a job". If the hair on the back of my neck wasn't standing, I would not have done a background check on what A.A.I. Inc. stood for and I would not have seen the Revdex.com report on the company or the complaints mention in the media in 2013.
Since I did it was easier to find out enough information about Filter Queen products to lie to Tracy about owning the Majestic. I was relieved that this was enough to get my information out of their computer system. I might have been interested in their product but not after the shady introduction.
