We received your email stating that you had paid for all tolls during your rental. According to the notes on your account,...

a customer service representative replied to your email on 9/23/14 informing you of the video tolling system in Florida, which does not allow for cash payments at most locations.

 

Thrifty offers an optional Platepass service for a small daily fee. We apologize if you were not informed of this service at the time of your rental. As your rental was not opted in to this service, you were charged a $15 admin fee per toll. You have the option of opting in to the Platepass program at any point before, during, or after your rental agreement. Please let us know if you would like to opt in at this time, which will result in a cost decrease of $91.85 for your account.

 

As a courtesy we have removed your name from the Do Not Rent list in order to prevent any issues for you while this is being resolved.

This company is a complete scam working with AVIS and other car rental agencies to charge ridiculous administration fees for poorly following up on moving violations while renting cars. I paid the state government agency directly for a camera speeding violation in which no hard copy ticket was issued to me. I was still charge a $30 fee for them to send me a piece of paper.

I rented a Hertz car from 10/03/2016 to 10/14/2016.

I used the platepass for tolls during the rental period, but I have not yet to receive an invoice. Platepass customer services told me to wait 7-21 days. Over 21 days have passed, and there is still no invoice. Now, Platepass gives no timeframe and state that they are at the mercy of the Toll Authorities to process transactions.

How is it good business practice that I have to wait for nearly a month even know a business balance, let alone close it?

No reasonable business accounting in this day and age should take that long..

The vehicle went through four tolls during the real period.   Hertz offers the PlatePass® service for $4.95 per rental day ($24.75 max per rental month), plus tolls if PlatePass® is activated during your rental period. The details surrounding the PlatePass® service are contained on page 3 of your rental contract. PlatePass® is an automated electronic toll payment service that enables rental car customers to use high-speed, cashless toll lanes to avoid having to stop and pay tolls with cash. We have attached further toll information for your records. We are committed to providing the highest level of customer service and apologize for any inconvenience this situation may have caused. Thank you for providing this information. We were able to locate your account. These charges are for electronic tolls in Florida during your recent [redacted] car rental, rental agreement number #[redacted]. Per the rental agreement, any additional charges, including tolls, will be charged to the credit card on file. Two electonic tolls were reported by Sunpass on 8/24/14. Your credit card was charged $2.36 for the tolls plus an administrative fee of $30.

[redacted] offers an optional Platepass service for a small daily fee. We apologize if you were not informed of this service at the time of your rental. As your rental was not opted in to this service, you were charged a $15 admin fee per toll. You have the option of opting in to the Platepass program at any point before, during, or after your rental agreement. A letter notifying you of the charges was mailed to the address on file on 9/8/14. A copy of that notice is attached for your records. As a courtesy we have refunded the $30 admin fee and you should see the credit reflected on your card in 3-5 business days.
