Auto Liberty of Arlington Reviews (21)

Review: I recently found a car online that Auto Liberty of Arlington was selling for $9,995 through an advertisement on [redacted] I sent a request for more information, and I received a call from a salesman who went by the name Mike Brown. I asked Mike about the condition of the car. He said the car ran great and was in great shape. After several conversations over a couple of days I asked Mike, on his cell phone, if the interior of the car was in good shape and if the car was sound mechanically since I would be driving almost 500 miles to purchase this vehicle. I also explained to him in great detail the type of truck that I wanted to trade for the vehicle and I asked him, since they claim to be a "wholesale" dealer, if they gave fair market value for trades or if they only gave wholesale prices for vehicle trades. He assured me that the car he was selling was in excellent condition with no problems what-so-ever. He also said they would give me fair market value on my trade. At this point, I agreed to make a $100 deposit to have them hold the vehicle. Mike said he would call me back on his work phone since that line is recorded for customer safety (I guess this is why he only spoke to me about the condition of the vehicle on his cell phone). I made my deposit, and drove up Friday, June 20, and spent the night and then went to see the car the next day. Upon arriving, I found the car was in pretty bad shape. The upholstery on the moon roof cover was torn and hanging down, there were scratches on every bit of plastic inside the vehicle, there were 2 large dents in the right rear quarter panel, and the hood of the vehicle would not stay open because the hydraulics that hold the hood open were shot. After asking Mike why he didn't tell me about all of these things, he either explained that he "didn't see" them or that they were minor cosmetic damages, which they were not. They then offered me about $4,500 (almost a third of the fair market trade value of my truck) below what multiple websites considered to be a fair market value trade for my truck in that zip code and suggested that I take it to a [redacted] and sell it to them and then pay them cash for the car. The manager swiped my card to refund my $100 deposit, but I still have not seen that money in my bank account.Desired Settlement: The refund may not have processed yet, but I would like my $100 deposit back and for them to end their dishonest business practices that cost me about $200 in diesel fuel since I kept my truck and drove it 500 miles from South Carolina and then had to drive it all the way back to [redacted], NC.

Response:

Dear [redacted]We do apologize for the unsatisfying experience you had with

our establishment. I have had made sure that

our bank did refunded your $100.00 deposit to your credit card. Once we swipe

your card for the refund it would take your bank several days to credit your account.

Please check your account for the $100.00 credit. Our understanding was that

since you were visiting your family in this area, you might come and see our

vehicle. Our vehicle was in excellent condition and we had as much as 8 pictures

of exterior and 3 pictures of interior were available on our website and our

internet advertisements. We made you a reasonable offer for your trade, which

was based on [redacted] Market Report.
