AutoNation Chevrolet Gilbert Reviews (26)

While the everyday workers are very polite, the management has a definite scam going on their warranties. Do not use their service department. I took my car in to be fixed two months ago. I was told it would take just an hour but I ended up waiting seven hours. They did not have an available car to send me home until half an hour before they had my car fixed. When I drove out I noticed immediately that they had not fixed the problem but did not have time to turn around and drop it off again. When I did get a chance to return it they told me it was something entirely different and they would not honor their warranty. In addition they broke another part on the air conditioning when they supposedly fixed it. I ended up taking it to another dealership where they actually knew what they are doing.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 9893460, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

When I brought the vehicle in question in to have repairs done on it at AutoNation Chevrolet, I did not expect to leave with a vehicle that had additional problems that were not there when I brought it in.  When I brought the vehicle in it was not whining.   I do not believe there statements that things just happen to a car at any time (in this case meaning, my power steering pump and gear went out while they just happen to have the vehicle doing repair work on it).  To me, this just does not add up. When I went to pick the car up from AutoNation for the repair work they had done on it, I had not even left the service drive when I heard the whining noise.  I asked someone to listen to it and he thought it was air in the fuel pump and then he went and got my service advisor who took it around back and brought it back and said they believed there was air in the power steering (something just don't remember what he said) and that I should drive it around for a few days and if it does not go away than I should bring it back.  I stated I was very apprehensive about taking the car, but I did.  I understand they got assistance from GM for part of this repair, but in my opinion, the dealer should have paid for this repair 100%.  The car did not go into the dealer with this issue and came out with this issue.  To me, they had to have done something to the car while it was in the shop.  I understand they say the repairs they made were not near the power steering pump and gear, but they had to have done something to the car.  I did not leave the car dealership and bring the car back several days later stating the issue.  I brought this issue up to them before I ever left the service drive. I am still requesting that they reimburse me the $683.10.

They caused this issue and should be held accountable for it.

I was in the market for new Chevrolet Volt and compared prices from various local dealers in Arizona. AutoNation Chevrolet Mesa uses fraudulent, misleading and deceptive advertising practices in their website pricing for their inventory of vehicles for sale. They advertise SmartChoice Pricing which is advertised on their website as no haggle pricing for each vehicle specified. However they fail to disclosed that those prices include all the possible rebates and incentives if you qualified for each. Nobody will ever qualify for each one. Secondly, they also advertised some Chevy Volts for $9000-$10,000 below every other dealers pricing. They used deceptive and misleading advertising

by deducting the amount that you might qualify from federal tax rebates or deductions which you might get when you file your taxes the following year and they deduct that off their selling price for the vehicles. No where does it state in their disclosures about the tax rebates as part of their low pricing. They just want you to come in so they can do a bait and switch on you. They just totally wasted my time and gas.

Gm will tow vehicle if it is unoperable. Recall takes approximately 2.5 hours, GM will provide a rental vehicle of up to 4 hours. Recall can be preformed Mon-Sat. Dealership does not provide pickup drop off service. Recall can be preformed at any General Motors dealership in the United States

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

When I first had contact with [redacted], I had no idea it was him and at that point in time he had not been rude and abrupt yet.  When I started to exit the service drive at the dealer after having the warranty work done, I noticed a whining noise that had not previously existed and stopped the car and tried to get my service advisor who was on the phone, so I saw a man standing in the service drive who worked there and asked him if he could come listen to my car and see if he heard anything.  He did hear something and thought it was the fuel pump whining.  He asked what had been done.  I showed him the sheet and he went and got my service advisor.  I certainly was not rude to him.  I certainly did not state I hated General Motors, the dealership or the City of Mesa.  I don't know where he got any of that, but that was not our conversation at all.  I may have stated that I hated the car because at that point I did, because of all the repairs I had done to the car.  I had not even dealt with General Motors at this point or anyone at the dealership other than [redacted], the cashier and now [redacted] (who at that time, I did not know who he was).  It is ridiculous to say I said those things.  I may have different feelings now towards General Motors and the dealership, but certainly not to the City of Mesa.  My husband grew up in the City of Mesa, went to high School in the City of Mesa and after we got married we lived in the City of Mesa for 10 years and still visit the City of Mesa regularly.

I never stated that [redacted] observed the trash in my car, in my complaint, I stated that [redacted], my service advisor had seen it.

I still strongly believe that they did something to my car to affect the power steering pump and gear.  I do not know how or what they did, but believe they did something to mess it up.  The car did not have this issue when it came in and certainly should not have left with it.   I understand that Chevrolet/GM pitched in 45%, but I strongly believe the dealer should have paid the remainder of the repair since it came into the shop without the issue.

I did not authorize our portion of the cost of the repair at the time of the vehicle drop off.  That is ridiculous.  At this point, we didn't even know what was wrong with it.

I was provided a loaner vehicle at this point in time.  A vehicle which was supposed to have a 1/2 tank of gas which it did not.  Once I pulled out of the service drive the gas light went on and I heard a dinging sound and it was that the vehicle needed gas.  I had to stop the vehicle on the side of the road to see where the gas tank was.  I noticed a yellow cap and did not know what that meant.  I called the dealership and talked with [redacted] and he told me the yellow cap didn't mean anything and told me where I could get gas.  Where they sent me to get gas was not the best neighborhood  and I was scared and had to leave and go up the street a bit.  This gas incident took place in the City of Mesa and I wasn't familiar with this part of the City of Mesa.  This is the only time I complained about anything in the City of Mesa and it certainly wasn't against the City of Mesa in general, but rather the specific area.

I did not call [redacted] when I got home with the loaner vehicle.  I did not call him until I had heard from my service advisor about the issues to my car and the cost.  Once again, I am not sure where he came up with that.   When [redacted] informed me about the cost and how much GM was going to pitch in and what I was going to owe is when I said that I didn't think it was right that I was going to have to pay for something I believe they caused, [redacted] told me he would talk to his service manager and see if he could get the dealer to pitch in anything towards the repairs.  I waited a while and did not hear back so I tried him back again and couldn't get a hold of him so I thought I would try the service manager myself and this is the first time I had a real conversation with [redacted] and  when he got rude and abusive with me.  I have never dealt with someone as rude as he was and especially a service manager.  He just kept repeating that things can happen at any time to a vehicle and they just happen.  He once again states that I was abusive to both him and the dealership and the City of Mesa.  I am so confused by this.  He was abusive to me.  He never told me that perhaps I should try a different dealership.  It is correct that I never called him back.  Who would want to talk to someone who had treated you that way.  I did try right away to get a hold of his boss.  I was told incorrectly the first time who his boss was and than got the correct information and tried to get a hold off [redacted] who I was told was his boss and he was not around.  I tried several times to get a hold of [redacted] Brown, the General Manager of Auto Nation Chevrolet Mesa.  I even sent him the certified letter which I attached to my original complaint and never heard back from him.  To this date, I have not heard back from him.

I did contact General Motors to talk to them about my vehicle and what had occurred.  GM informed me that they would look into it, but they were separate from the dealership.  The dealership was its own entity.  I was told many things by Chevrolet/GM.  The first being that they had paid the dealership the full amount of the repair for the power steering pump and gear under a recall.  I was also told that the dealership had 24 hours to contact me and come up with a resolution, but I never heard from the dealer.  I was later told by Chevrolet/GM that they were wrong to tell me they had covered the whole matter under a recall.  I am not sure what to believe from them either.  However, if I have a problem with Chevrolet/GM that problem is between me and Chevrolet/GM not between me and the dealership.  I cannot believe that there isn't anybody else at this dealership that could reach out and contact me to get this worked out.  I believe if I had talked with a reasonable person this would not be where it is today.

I do not own the vehicle in question any longer because we had concerns about ongoing repair costs.  The fact that I do not own the vehicle any longer has nothing to do with what happened to it while it was at Auto Nation Chevrolet in Mesa, AZ.

I am still requesting to be reimbursed the $683.10 I paid to Auto Nation Chevrolet, Mesa.

Regards,

Early this year I had a pinion seal replaced in my 2008 Avalanche. It made so much noise after the repair I had to take it back after driving half a block. It was re-repaired and seemed to be fine. While driving over the summer a noise developed in the rear end. I took it to my local Canadian dealer who found the pinion bearings damaged because of over-tightening. I asked the Canadian service manager to contact the Auto nation service manager to determine if they would contribute to the re-repair cost. I was told that I could not have driven the vehicle back to Canada if it was a faulty repair by them. the re-repair in Canada cost me an extra $1000 which I still believe was caused by improper work by Auto Nation. I was also shocked to find that their repair invoices do not provide for any warranty on their workmanship! So watch out once your warranty expires!
