Autonation Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Reviews (43)

Review: I had not been experiencing any problems with my Dodge Journey, although, my check engine light was coming on. I made an appointment with the AutoNation Dodge service department in Roseville and after 2 days they couldnt find anything wrong with my car. They simply replaced my air filter as it was a bit dirty and sent me on my way, still costing me for the diagnostics. Within 5 days the check engine light is back on, so I take it back in. I approve a tear down for inspection and it was determined to be a blown head gasket. I approve them to do the repair, part of which is covered under my warranty. A few days later I go back in to get status and I was told there was a problem during repair. They were able to remove the bolts and replace the head gasket as requested. But during the completion of the installation, doing the final series of bolt tightening's it was on the last 90 degree setting that the threads had stripped out of the block. He immediately says to me that they are not liable for anything and do to how this occurred my warranty will not cover it either. After several calls with the service manager and a complaint filed with Chrysler they insist they are not liable and tell me I must pay $6,024.94 to install a new engine. This seems unreal, it was a direct result of an action during their repair, how are they not liable.Desired Settlement: There was nothing wrong with the engine block when it was dropped off Therefor, I would expect that they would stand behind their product and service and help to replace engine since it was damaged during the course of their repairs.

Response:

The cylinder head gasket repair is a covered repair under the Extended Warranty plan purchased elsewhere by Mrs. [redacted]. Our Chrysler factory trained technician removed and inspected the cylinder head for damage. During the installation process of the cylinder head, threads pulled out of the engine block on the final torque procedure. The failure of the threads in the block was not caused by the technician. The proper repair procedure was followed, cleaning and inspecting the engine block and bolt threads prior to the cylinder head torque procedure. Replacing the engine block is the proper repair. The failure of the cylinder block threads is unfortunate. It was an unforeseen failure not caused by negligence.

Review: I had my vehicle towed to AutoNation Chrysler Dodge Jeep for diagnosis and repair of my vehicle not starting and periodic airbag light off and on. Due to financial reasons, I could not afford the periodic airbag light, and aggreed to fix the computer module, that was causing my vehicle to not always start. I picked up my vehicle weeks later, and the vehicle started right up. A few days after pick up, I try to drive to my son's cardiology appointment, less than a mile away from my home my vehicle starts smoking from under the hood. My temperature guage reads C. I fill the radiator and overflow with water and will overheat within a block. Called AutoNation regarding overheating, they state it had nothing to do with them, and if I want it repaired I need to have the vehicle towed back and pay for diagnostic fee again and go from there. I had the vehicle towed in for starting problems and airbag light off and on. The first time I drive the vehicle it smells highly of gasoline inside, the airbag light is staying completely on (thats never happened, usually turn on, stay on for 3-5 sec and shut off) and now my vehicle has weak power, can't drive a block, and temperature gauge doesn't work.

Also looking over paperwork where they "inspected" my vehicle, says all tires, tread, pressure, etc was GOOD. When I picked up my vehicle, my low tire pressure light was on, and I noticed a nail in my drivers rear tire (not blaming the nail on them) but how is that tire and air pressure GOOD, if it has a nail in it and my low tire pressure light is on? Horrible experience.Desired Settlement: I would like my vehicle repaired at AutoNation's expense. My vehicle was not overheating when I dropped it off.

Response:

The repairs made to vehicle were not associated with the radiator or cooling system. I recommended having the vehicle towed in so we can inspect the vehicle at no charge. I have explained if the issue was created by us we would repair the vehicle at no charge.

Business' Initial Response

Contact Name and Title: [redacted] GM

Contact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXX

First, I have tried 3 times to make contact with [redacted] at the only number that we have on file. Her initial request was for my team to get her pre-approved. This was not an easy deal to secure financing. We submitted the deal structure to numerous lenders and DID secure a way for her to buy a car.

Unfortunately, [redacted] suffered catastrophic news in regard to his wifes health and is unable to work currently. He needs to be near his family in their time of need.

I would recommend that [redacted] make contact with me, the General Manger of the store to discuss further. I am expecting her call.
