The windows in my home were not properly installed.
There is 1 window in my home that has a film on it that has distorted the view when looking though it. The view is not clear like the other windows in my home. I sent a picture to the installer in question showing that this film is on the window. This film can not be removed as it's brittle and breaks upon attempting to peal off.
I spent weeks discussing this issue with the installer and felt that the window was not properly installed when the house was built. The installer, while willing to replace the glass, was not willing to install at no cost to me.
Because this window was not properly installed when the home was built, I feel strongly that replacement with installation should be performed at no cost to me.
The person I have been in contact with is Jeff B,E-MAIL ***, ***.
This issue began with my 1st call of 9/5/2019. There is also an E-MAIL trail on this conversation as well that can be forwarded if needed.

Desired Outcome

I am seeking that the window in question be replaced with installation included at no cost to me.

Document Attached***
We carry a one year warranty on material and labor. The windows were installed in this home in May 2014. The initial e-mail in regard to the window film was sent to a Barefoot associate on September 5, 2019. We assisted the customer via e-mail and phone informing him the material and labor is no longer under our warranty. In fact, it is several years outside of our warranty. We immediately followed this up by telling him the glass material is covered under the manufacturer warranty but that the labor is not. Attached is the manufacturer's warranty which outlines this in detail. The film on the window is not an installation error but rather an error in the glass, which is why the material is still under manufacturer warranty. We offered solutions to the homeowner such as suggesting he attempt to peal off the film. When that did not work we ordered the replacement glass at no cost and it is available for pick up during office hours. We also provided a referral to a local remodeling association with several certified companies who may be able to assist with the installation. We followed our warranty policy and the manufacturer warranty policy when assisting this customer.

Here is my response and what Barefoot & Company has missed in this issue.

The crux of this complaint centers around the film not being removed at the time of installation. Barefoot and Company's position is that the failure to remove the film lies with the manufacturer of the glass. I maintain that the film on the glass was to protect the window during transportation and installation. The fact that all my other windows do not have this film confirms to me that the film was to be removed at the time of installation. This is a common sense conclusion to my complaint.
I maintain that Barefoot & Company should "Do the Right Thing" and work though the manufacturer to replace the window, which includes the installation. I understand that they are attempting to remove responsibility and project it on the manufacturer but this is not solving this issue for me the customer.

As the installer we do not apply film to a window and then remove it at installation. We can understand why a homeowner may assume a film is placed on a window as a protective coat for transport but this is simply not the case. The window was received from the manufacturer with film. We do not apply or remove film from this series of windows.

The window passed several builder quality assurance walks, the official inspection. The house received a COO and the window passed the final homeowner walk done before closing. If this was an installation error we certainty would have serviced the work at no charge during our warranty period. Again, this request is four years outside of our warranty period.

We will keep the replacement glass on site for this homeowner for when it is ready to be picked up. We also contacted the manufacturer to request they replace the glass free of charge. Unfortunately they will not do so. We encourage the homeowner contact the manufacturer directly to request assistance.

We have confirmation that Barefoot admits that they receive the windows from the manufacturer with the film on it. It was their oversight not to remove this film during the installation. This is the crux of my complaint. The issue centers around Barefoot's failure to properly install the window in my home.
I remain,

As I stated, and now it has been confirmed, that a film was applied to the glass by the manufacturer.
Per Barefoot & Company's response above, "The window was received from the manufacturer with film."
All my other windows in my home do not have this film on them. Therefore the film must have been removed either before installation my Barefoot or at the time of installation.
Clearly, the window in question, was missed in terms of the removal of the film.
In today's response, the installer is looking to push the corrective action, for complete replacement with installation on the manufacture, when they admit the factory shipped the window with the film on and was not removed for installation.
I look forward to my complaint to be resolved with the customer in mind.
Thanks

We opt/paid for blinds by this company to get installed in our new construction. The blinds are defective.
In September, 2017 I closed on my new home. I paid for blinds to get installed as it was an option, and I wanted them to be professionally done (which I now regret). If I had an idea that Barefoot & Company was going to do a "botched" job on the actual blinds, I would have not elected to get the blinds installed by this company. The blinds are defective. Four employees on three different occasions have come to my home regarding this issue. In fact, the sales/field manager keeps telling me that nothing can be done about my concerns and keeps brushing me off. The blinds do not close properly and from the outside, someone can see on the inside of my home, due to the poorly cut blinds.

This is unacceptable and poor workmanship. This was NOT a free or inexpensive service that was done. In the event that that my concerns are not addressed, I will have no other option but to escalate this further.

Thanks and I hope to hear from someone soon, so that I can get this resolved move on.

Desired Outcome

As I have wanted from the beginning, which is for my blinds to be replaced.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I do not accept the response, because though the builder does work with Barefoot & Company, they contracted Barefoot & Company to install the blinds.

FYI....my name is not *** .

Barefoot and Company Response • Oct 09, 2018

Yes, that is correct. The builder subcontracted us to install the blinds in the home. Per our records a manager has been to your house on two separate occasions since the house has closed, the most recent being on September 19, 2018. A technician also accessed the blind on September 19, 2018 prior to the managers arrival. On all occasions the blind was determined to be properly installed. On both occasions the manager was present the homeowner explained the issue to be that some light comes through the blind at night. The manager accessed the blind and the homeowners concern and determined the blind is properly installed. The blinds installed in the home are 2" faux wood blinds. This type of blind is not intended to be a "black-out" blind (it is not intended to block out all light from the outside). In accessing the blind the manager also determined the blind is the correct size, height and width, for the window opening. The blind properly raises, lowers, opens, and closes. The manager then explained to the homeowner that the nature of a 2" faux wood blind is that the bottom valence can slightly fold up when the blind is closed. This is well within the standard installation specification of a 2" faux wood blind. If the blind was defective or installed improperly in any way then we would certainly replace it. Our professional opinion is the 2" faux wood blind, which is not a "black out" blind, is properly installed.
