Dear ,Our mission at Choice Home Warranty is to provide property owners with peace of mind by offering a high quality, easy and affordable way to protect their most valuable asset We are committed to providing a positive customer experience and we take all feedback very seriously Choice Home Warranty provides home warranty service coverage on the systems and appliances listed as ‘INCLUDED’ under the terms of the User Agreement sent to you at purchase It may also be found on www.choicehomewarranty.com/useragreementUpon review of your policy, we do see that you placed a claim for the refrigerator and we did receive a diagnosis that the door hinge was bad causing the unit to not seal properly, this created too much heart into the unit, per our policy Section DCoverage #states that we do not cover door hinges The hinge failure caused the board to malfunction which is considered secondary damagesPer section FLimitations of Liability #19, CHW does not cover failures that are secondary The technician also advised that the coil was clogged, per our policy Section FLimitations of Liability this is considered to be a lack of proper maintenanceWe did offer you a goodwill gesture in the amount of $plus the one free service call fee added to your policy which you declined.We are offering to provide you with a full refund of $to be sent back to you however you would have to contact CHW at ###-###-####, sign an agreement in order to receive a refund in full We are not able to provide you with a credit for the service call fee back in cash due to the fact that it is a requirement for the technician to be paid by the customer and we do not reimburse for that as it is stated in our policy.If you feel that the technician made the unit worse than what it is, we ask that you contact them back Per our policy, Section FLimitations of Liability #states that CHW is not responsible for the negligence of the technicianWe will be happy to assist you with the phone number of that tech If you are interested in any of these offers, they are documented in your claim and you can contact us and we will provide you with whichever you chose to doAgain, our number is ###-###-####.Thank you,CHW

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: I purchased this warranty to ensure that, like you said, I had piece of mind for my home appliancesWhen your salespeople sold me this warranty, I was never warned that there was a chance my appliance would not get fixedI went through and read through the INCLUDED appliances and what was coveredI seemed pretty happyI read through as much of the liabilities and limitations I could handle and understood as much as I couldJust mostly figured things like vandalism, not caring for my appliances by cleaning and regular recommended maintenance practices were not coveredThis liability hidden in the middle of limitation #in the middle of the paragraph hidden in one sentence ensures that I can not keep this warranty serviceAll these new appliances have computers and mechanical devices working hand in handOne item shorting out another item is going to happenIt's not a freak thingI can't trust my home in your hands due to that one sentenceOne free month of service or a service call doesn't pay back the damages I've incurred due to thisThanks for the gesture but I respectfully decline Regards, [redacted]

Customer are allowed days to be sure that everything is in working condition before the effective date of the policyPreexisting conditions are determined not only on the condition of the covered item but to the extentThe pump and control box were burned upThis damage is not something that would occur in such a short life span of the policyAs CHW values all customers, as a courtesy, you have been provided with one free service call for your next claim Regards, CHW

I am rejecting this response because: I had other companies come out and tell me the problem was NOT a lack of maintenance The information I received about what is covered and what is not does not indicate that my issue was something they do not coverFurthermore, I was informed through a 3rd party that I was not covered because my policy was too newThe company they sent out was fighting for me, but were told that the insurance company would definitely not be doing anything, as I cancelled my policyThe only reason I canceled the policy is because I was getting the runaround and nothing indicated that my problem was not coveredTheir advertising tells the consumer that things get old and need replacing and their insurance covers itApparently it only covers inexpensive claimsI did some research and found others that had the same experience I did - Their ac units were well maintained, but because it was a high dollar repair this company weaseled out of it with the "lack of maintenance" excuse

The wire melted the rubber casing which is deemed "fire"Upon reading my policy, which I absolutely did when I purchased it, it reads as if it were talking about a house fire...which is certainly not covered by a home warrantyThat's covered by home owners insuranceIt's very simpleYou intend to take people's money and have no intention of providing the services Wouldn't recommend your company to a single person!
