Batteries Plus Bulbs Store # 114
took a battery pack in to store on 3/19/2016 to have rechargeable batteries replaced. said it would be about a week. ten days later I stopped by and it wasn't ready said they had ordered some parts that would be in in three days and they'd call me when done. today, 4/22/2016 I stopped in and they hadn't even started to fix the pack. so I told them I wanted it back and would send it off for repair (there's an ebay seller that does the same thing for the same price with a three day turnaround). you'd think thunder had struck - the clerk had to call the manager to get clearance to give me back my battery pack back that they hadn't even opened - she finally did and good thing for her she didn't try to delay further or upsell . don't waste your time, not worth the hassle to buy local at this place - they really don't care about their customers so it isn't local after all just another box store.

Review: I went into the Batteries Plus Bulbs store on N.76th St in Milwaukee on 8/19/15. I request a replacement key fob remote for my Kia Sportage. The store manager [redacted], assisted me and said the remote would have to be order and he placed the order. He said the remote cost was $75 and included programming along with cutting the key. I verified the price with him twice that the cost would be $75 and includes programming and cutting the key. [redacted] said yes, everything is included. He told me it would take a couple of days to receive the remote and that he would call me. I never received a call and after a few calls to the store, I finally reached him on 8/24/15 and he said the key had arrived. When I arrived to the store on 8/24 he said the cost of the remote is $189 + programming. I said to [redacted] the price you told me was $75 and he said the remote rang up as $189. He said the best he could do is sell it to me for $169 plus 50% off programming. [redacted] said it would take a few minutes to program the remote, which ended up being well over an hour. [redacted] was unable to cut the key at the store and said he would have to take the key to another store. The new cut key was available the next day. I picked up the key the next day and when I got home, I found out the key doesn't work on my car.Desired Settlement: I would like to be charge the original $75 that was promise and a new blank key so I can have the dealer cut it.

I apologize that your recent visit with us did not go as expected, we do appreciate your time and hope we can resolve this so you want to come back and shop with us. On 8/19/15, we were unable to quote you a price on the desired product. Our system showed it was available to order, but we did not have specific details on price and availability. We did have instant information on the basic key fob, which was $79.99 and was the version without an actual key blade. We quoted that basic key fob to you at $79.99, but that product didn’t match your existing key fob, so we needed to seek out more information from our sourcing team. Our records indicate on 8/20/15 the appropriate information was available to us to provide pricing and order. The store ordered the product immediately, but it does not appear the store had contact with you directly to give you the actual final price. The product arrived at our location on 8/23/15 due to standard shipping and processing times. On 8/24/15, the product arrived. The staff indicates you declined the sale due to the increased cost on your initial visit. Later, you visited a second time and purchased the product with an additional discount offered by the Store Manager for any inconvenience. If you would like to return the key fob you purchased, we will give you a full refund. If you wish to keep the purchase, we will re-cut your key to make sure it is functional in your vehicle. If you have any questions, please let me know. Review: This week I visited Batteries Plus in Milwaukee on N. 76th Street. I went in to get a replacement battery for my cell phone. After locating my particular battery he took it upon himself to manually replace my battery by opening up the new package and he then swapped my old battery with the new one. I did, however, notice that even though he gave me my receipt he seemed to be trying to distract me. After talking for a while about battery replacement items I finally agreed to purchase a new charger, as well. What was even more odd was the fact that I had to ask him more than once to give me the new packaging and my old cell phone battery back plus a bag. Why did he want to keep my old battery? Also, this new battery is not working anymore. My phone still keeps dying. And to top it off, after I left I noticed that my memory card was missing and it was in the phone when I brought it in.Desired Settlement: I would a full refund for my purchases and I would like to have my memory card back that the store representative took out of my phone.(There were irreplaceable documents on that card.) I would also like for this business to be permanently listed as fraudulent because that is what they are. That battery that they sold me was not new.

Response:

I apologize your visit did not go as expected; We truly do appreciate your comments so we can improve our customer’s experience. We often replace batteries for our customers, as some installations can be difficult. Our hope is we can make your experience great by offering this service, while also insuring the device is working properly with the new battery. Also, we recycle to prevent used batteries going to the local landfill. When we do complete battery swaps, it does not require us locate or remove any memory cards. I apologize; this process should have been better explained during your visit. If you are unhappy with the purchase, please bring the battery back for a full refund. We accept returns after 14 days of purchase. Our records indicate you purchased this battery on 8/4/15, I will also grant an extension to the policy if you are unable to make it into the store by 8/18/15. I would be happy to reach out to you and speak in person. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly. [redacted]

Review: On October 22, 2015, Batteries Plus located at [redacted], installed a watch kit in my Timex watch and was charged $9.74 for the kit plus tax. The battery stopped working the end of March 2016, which was approximately five (5) months after I bought it. After returning to town Monday, April 25, 2016, I went back to this Batteries Plus and requested they replace the battery as it should work longer than five (5) months. I was told that unless I bought the battery warranty at the time of purchase, they could not replace it. I told the clerk that I was not informed at the time of purchase that Batteries Plus even has a battery warranty. The associate refused to help me unless I bought a new battery and suggested I also purchase the battery warranty for an extra $15.99 plus tax. I do not feel this appropriate given the battery is only five (5) months old.

This is not the first time a battery I bought at Batteries Plus quit working in less than one year. The other two defective batteries quit working at around ten (10) months. Since it was almost one year from date of purchase, I simply bought new replacement batteries without requesting reimbursement.Desired Settlement: Since a "new" battery should work longer than five (5) or even ten (10) months, it looks as though Batteries Plus consistently sells inferior products. I am requesting a refund of $9.74 to be mailed to [redacted], please.

Review: On 8/15/2014 I purchased a battery from store 552 located at [redacted]. I returned the battery appr. 20 minutes later and got a battery back up es 350. The sales person kept my original receipt that showed a credit for the battery first purchased. The new receipt shows a credit for 32.99 and the new item being 59.99 leaving a balance of 27.00 plus tax totaling 29.50. The issue is, I am now shorted the original 32.99 plus tax totaling 36.04 due to not having a receipt with that purchase on it. The company I work for requires an original receipt for reimbursements. When I called the store [redacted] answered the phone and did not understand what I needed so he got angry and hung up on me. I called back and talked to the "Manager" who said his name is [redacted] and he hung up on me. I then contacted the "home office" and was told "[redacted]" the District Manager would return my call- no luck. What happened to customer service in places like this. Transaction [redacted] is the return receipt. I know they can either track the sale of a SLAA12-5F only 20 minutes earlier.Desired Settlement: A receipt showing a purchase of SLAA12-5F 12V 5AH AGM totaling 36.04 so I will not be short on my petty cash account and some customer training for the employees that work at this location. Thank you.

Review: Store Manager and her stated policy to resolve dissatisfaction with services provided.

Store Location: [redacted]

Manager: [redacted]

I was persuaded by the store employees two years ago to purchase portable tool battery packs rebuilt at the store vs replacing the battery packs. The employee stated rebuilt battery packs are far superior to factory batteries, will last longer and have a longer service life. I paid for several battery packs to be rebuilt. I was satisfied with this service until having two battery packs rebuilt within the past year. One battery pack failed within two months and the store determined the problem was a poor solder connection. The second battery pack apparently had an issues as the tool operation was very short. This battery pack was determined to have defective battery. I again had an issue with a battery pack that was rebuilt and the manager [redacted] was very evasive about repairing the battery pack. [redacted] told the employee that was assisting me that the battery pack would have to be examined to determine why it failed. [redacted] called the following day and refused to stand behind their product and required I pay full price for servicing the battery pack. [redacted] made no attempt to save me as a customer and the conversation ended with an option to stand behind their workmanship at no charge or lose me as a customer. [redacted] selected the option of losing my business and I feel her attitude was very unprofessional for a retail store manage.Desired Settlement: I desire to have my battery pack repaired or replaced with a factory pack and warrantied as I feel the workmanship or batteries used were inferior to factory batteries.

Note: I use my portable tools around my home for light duty tasks and use frequently taking care to properly charge my battery packs. Only the rebuilt battery packs are failing.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I base this acceptance on the fact that I have no proof to indicate my purchases and warranty issues so I cannot resolve this issue. I will keep my receipts in the future when dealing with Batteries Plus.
