After receipt of complaint, I contacted the Complainant, Ms [redacted] by email on January 9, 2017, to determine whether or not the repairs were completed to her satisfactionShe replied on the same day, by email, indicating that 'the complaint was filed on the same day the job was completed.' We consider this complaint resolved to the satisfaction of the ComplainantPlease call me if you have questions [redacted] - Co-Owner Roof Doctors - [redacted]

Roof Doctors has completed repairs to this roof on the following dates: 4/18/11/03/11/18/11/30/Homeowner is still dissatisfied with our repairsHomeowner contacted Cal-Vintage Roofing who indicated to homeowner that our repairs were allegedly 'not completed correctly'We do not think that we will ever be able to satisfy this homeowner, and we are no longer willing to provide services to themTherefore, we are offering to refund the entire amount of $2,to the homeowner AFTER they have provided to us the following documentation: 1) Signed contract with Cal-Vintage Roofing for repairs in the amount of $8,2) A copy of the canceled check or credit card voucher paid to Cal-Vintage Roofing for the repairs described in the Repair Proposal/Contract dated January 16, 3) A copy of the Paid Invoice from Cal-Vintage Roofing indicating that the Invoice has been 'PAID-IN-FULL' 4) A response from the Complainant that this dispute has been settled to their satisfactionPlease advise, whether or not, this dispute resolution is acceptable to the Homeowner and Complainant [redacted] - Roof Doctors / Co-Owner [redacted] - Direct Line

I am rejecting this response because: We have two separate issues We had the valley repaired by Quality Roofing which falls under the roof certification for $ I have no problem providing the cancelled check The remaining amount requested is to redo the walkway that is installed incorrectly This repair does not fall under your certification I hired your company to put in a walkway and it was put in wrong Please just respond with your answer to [redacted] at the CSLB as it is obvious that you are not taking responsibility and standing behind your work and your company dodges any type of work that falls under your certification that requires more than gluing broken tiles or sealing areas with mastic

We have been trying to obtain information from this Homeowner for weeks This Homeowner has only provided hearsay and conclusory statements based on what other people may have told her We have been asking for written information and the only thing provided to us by the Homeowner is a "Repair Proposal/Contract" from Cal-Vintage Roofing, dated January 16, 2017, prepared by [redacted] - Estimator / Sales in the amount of $8, Please refer to the Cal-Vintage Repair Proposal / Contract - there is nothing in this Proposal / Contract to substantiate Homeowner's claim that: 'The remaining amount requested is to redo the walkway that is installed incorrectly.' or to substantiate Homeowner's claim ' I hired your company to put in a walkway and it was put in wrong.' Cal-Vintage has only simply provided a picture labeled 'Tile and composition installed incorrectly Water blows under roof' The Roof Doctors' technician that did the repair on this home has been a Licensed C-roofing contractor for years and has repaired and replaced thousands of roofs while running his own business It is our belief that a Licensed Roofing Contractor knows more about repairing and replacing roofs than an Estimator / Sales We believe that Cal-Vintage Roofing is trying to take advantage of this homeowner by charging for repairs that are not needed In fact, most of the repairs listed in the Cal-Vintage Repair Proposal / Contract are totally unrelated to the repairs that were contracted by Homeowner with Roof Doctors The Sacramento Valley has had inches of rain and up to mph winds withing the past months and Homeowner has provided no proof that this roof has a current leak problem We recommend that our ownership and that our technician that completed the repairs, who are all Licensed C-Roofing Contractors, meet at the home with [redacted] of Cal-Vintage Roofing so that we can all go up onto the roof to discuss the repairs that we were originally contracted to do and that were completed, and the repairs that Cal-Vintage are now currently recommending We are asking that this Homeowner set up tentative dates and times with [redacted] of Cal-Vintage roofing, and we will confirm with the Homeowner which date and will work for us I can be emailed the tentative dates at [redacted] @roofdoctors.com or I can be reached at [redacted] We look forward to your reply [redacted] - Roof Doctors / Co-Owner

I am rejecting this response because: The business Roof Doctors is aware that [redacted] Roofing did not quote this job only come out and find the problem Their email and photos were sent to roof Dr I have no problem giving the quote from Tim at Quality Roofing as soon as I receive it, but as the industry is swamped with the rain I haven't gotten their quotes yet Based on what Cal Vintage states alone in their report is roof drclaiming the installation of that walkway is correct?

I am rejecting this response because: I had another company come out to assess the work since we had an additional leak in another room This company informed me that the installation of the walkway has left the battens wet with water running behind In addition Roof Doctors in writing said all broken tiles would be replaced with this job The installation is incorrect by industry standards and a curb needs to separate the two roofs My further issue with this co is upon inspection and certification in March they should have known and listed the problems with the valleys and multiple areas covered with tar

Good Afternoon ***, In response to the text messages I received from you yesterday this is where we stand. Roof Doctors completed a free roof inspection at *** *** ***, Elk Grove, CA on 11/30/and provided an estimate #*** for the roof repairs found necessary to certify the
roof and offered a 2-year certification. Roof Doctors does not inspect for wood destroying organisms and no wood repairs were bid in the initial estimate. Prior to any roof repairs being completed Roof Doctors was provided with a pest inspection report and you requested an additional free inspection to bid the roof related wood repairs specified in that provided pest report. That free inspection was completed on 12/22/and you were provided a separate estimate #*** for the roof related wood repairs outlined in the provided pest report. Prior to any roof repairs being completed we did speak and you inquired as to whether or not any wood repairs were to be completed/included based on the original inspection that took place on 11/30/16, estimate #104243. I explained that cannot be determined until the roof is opened up for repairs and that if & when new wood damage is discovered it will be addressed at that time. I did state that if there was a small area of damage found in the areas that were already being repaired ( I do not believe you ever said that. I think it is a given that if the sheathing is rotten then there is a leak above and the roof area above must be opened, checked and repaired. If you did not open areas where there is obvious sheathing damage, then shame on you because it is obvious that the felt above is leaking and it must be repaired.) we may be able to include that repair. That discussion seems to be one of your focuses on the situation. At no time were you told that the repairs outlined in estimate #*** were to include any of the wood repairs outlined in estimate #*** (this is not true. I specifically told you at that point I wanted the roof repaired right and I wanted the sheeting damage to be repair I also told both you and your roofer who came out to look, that if you need to requote based on the sheathing repair please do it so I am not surprised. That is when you stated the small area could be included and if there are any additions you would call and have them approved when you opened up the roof) or in the provided pest inspection report and that is why you were specifically provided two separate estimates with specified cost for each. You proceeded to provide a signed copy of estimate #*** and requested that those repairs (based on your statements that led me to believe the sheathing would be included or at most be minimal and done at the same time) be scheduled and completed without expressing any further questions or concerns as to the work outlined or pricing. You did not request any repairs from estimate #*** nor did you provide a signed copy of estimate #***. (Again this is not true. I specifically stated to you that while the barge rafters were already repairedI wanted the roof to be repaired correctly and this includes the sheathing. You are either misstating what was said or not remembering it completely. Why you did not proceed with an additional quote I do not know, but I clearly asked for the work to be done.) The repairs for estimate #*** were scheduled for 2/23/17. Upon repairs the repairman did not notify you of the wood damage specified in estimate #*** knowing that you had already received a pest inspection report as well as a separate estimate #*** from Roof Doctors for that wood damage and were well aware of the damage. I do not understand how or why you would have been under the impression or would have assumed that repairs from estimate #*** would have been completed without you authorizing them and knowing that you only requested the repairs from estimate #*** to be completed. (Because I trusted you. You said that the sheathing would be included if it were small and you would call and get additional approval if you found more. You did not call, so I had to assume that all the sheathing repairs were small and would be completed as a part of that quote.) Subsequently you specified that you proceeded to hire a handyman to complete part of the wood repairs for you (barge rafters only) for $and that you did not need all of the wood repairs done. (You are misstating the timingThe handyman work was done before your roofer, came looked and slipped on the roof. He and I also looked at the sheathing and I told him it had to be done. He stated that he did not see that work on the work order and he would contact you and have it quoted. It was after that that you and I talked and I reiterated that I wanted the sheathing repaired and you stated if it was small it would be included in the $2625.) We then scheduled a 3rd free inspection to modify the estimate for the specific remaining wood repairs you wanted to have done as some were already completed by others. During that inspection you also expressed concerns that some of the repairs from estimate #*** were not completed in full. I agreed that we would schedule another repair to reset/secure the remaining slipped/displaced tiles as well as address the water stained felt underlayment above the front of the garage at no additional cost. Those repairs were specified with the modified wood repair estimate you requested, estimate #***. Upon receiving that estimate #*** you expressed that you felt the price was too high and that the repairs would have cost less if completed with the original repairs from estimate #***. At that time I discussed the estimate with my manager and he agreed to offer a reduced price for the wood repairs you requested. You still felt the price was too high and did not agree to have the repairs completed. You stated that you had already paid a handyman $and for that reason you felt the remaining wood repairs you requested should be completed for $700. We do not base our estimates on what you have paid anyone else for any amount of work and the reduced price offered in the most recent copy of estimate #*** which was $is the final price. A date will be scheduled to complete remaining repairs from estimate #*** at no additional cost - which we never refused to doThe office will call you with our soonest available repair date for this workIf you would like to order repairs for estimate #*** in the amount of $1375, please sign the 2nd page of the estimate and return it to our office so scheduling can put it on the repair calendar for youAny questions/concerns regarding billing for the work that was completed can be addressed to *** in the officeYou can reach her at *** I do not agree with this at all. You mislead me. You have misconstrued what was stated above for your own benefit. You did not complete the sheathing repair nor call me with an additional estimate when the work was done. In that sense you took advantage of me and the situationIt could be that you were just so busy that you were not fully engaged in this process. In general you and your company have been horribly unresponsive and I have literally had to nag you for quotes and responses throughout. Since you are misrepresenting this situation, I will begin taking other actions, because it is clear that you are not willing to admit your mistakes nor properly remedy your misleading statements. It seems that we will not agree, so we need a secondary impartial person to get involved. In the meantime it is unethical (and I believe illegal) for you to charge me for work (that by your own admission) has not been completed. ***

I am rejecting this response because:I already provided evidence that Roof Doctors stated to me over the phone(and they documented it in an e-mail) that included under this estimate was the repair of the sheathing under the shingles that are leaking as long as the area was small They did not include this on their work order and the work they promised was not done Furthermore they have never finished the repair, yet charged me fully for it I simply do not understand how they can promise to do the work and then not do it

I am rejecting this response because: ***, you have never requested more information from me. In fact back in Oct and Nov I phoned the office specifically asking to speak with *** or a manager and was always directed to *** ***. It appears that you don't know what your company did on my roof. Items 1,2,in the Cal Vintage report are to rip out the composite walkway that your company installed incorrectly. It is not only Cal Vintage but also Quality Roofing that are in agreement that the walkway is installed incorrectly. Ok maybe both companies are scamming me, but the CSLB has decided to send someone out and once that is done I can accept whatever they decide. The remaining items on the report are in reference to a valley that caused leaking in the kitchen. This item should have been covered by the roof certification. It was an item noted by *** Roofing that I brought up to *** via email in November and also spoke with *** when he was performing the repairs. *** said everything would be addressed and fixed and "leave the roofing to us!" *** told me that the valley metal needed to be bent up to change the flow of water from going under the tile and into the felt. I trusted the *** and *** were handling it. Relying on the promises made by your company we now have to replace sheetrock the kitchen ceiling, wall and ceiling in the master closet, baseboards, and carpet. I know none of that is your problem, but when a customer is relying on your expertise and the work is wrong or left undone there is a ripple effect. I have since paid another $to Quality to handle the valley because it needed to be done ASAP to stop further damage in the kitchen. This is the exact spot *** claims was on the flat roof and not under the certification

In order to respond we will need a copy of the quote from *** Roofing and Quality Roofing

Mr *** obviously did not read my response to his Revdex.com Complaint The Estimate # *** that he signed on 1/14/2017, clearly states: "Price of repair is subject to change if additional damage is found; including but not limited to: damage to the roof wood members at the sub-roofing Price change is subject to authorization and approval by the homeowner prior to the additional repair being completed" In fact, Mr ***, hired a handyman and paid him $1,to perform roof wood repairs pursuant to our Estimate # *** dated 12/22/2016, AFTER he had rejected these wood repairs based on the Termite Inspection Report that he provided to us, evidently feeling that our Estimate # *** was too expensive In fact, after realizing that his Handyman did not complete all of the repairs in his Termite Inspection Report, Mr*** had us come out to his home AGAIN to bid the work that his handyman did not complete to render a 3rd Estimate from us We provided a 3rd Estimate for the uncompleted repairs by his handyman pursuant to our Estimate # ***, dated 3/7/ Mr*** has rejected and refused to sign any of our Estimates outside of our Estimate # *** that he signed on 1/14/ Roof Doctors REFUSES to do any work that is not in our Scope of Work, pursuant to our contract, which is Estimate # *** We are NOT going to perform ANY work that we did not agree to and that is not in our Contract Mr*** told us that we are not allowed to perform any work on his property until further notice Again, we will ONLY return to the home of Mr *** on the following conditions:1) AFTER he has emailed photos to my email address at ***@roofdoctors.com showing that work has not been completed pursuant to the SIGNED Estimate # *** 2) Sending me an email to the same address granting us permission to perform the repairs in his photographs 3) Being present at the home to observe those repairs being completed 4) Once Mr*** has provided photos by email and given us permission to perform the repairs in the email, pursuant to our signed Estimate # ***, then my office staff will contact Mr*** to arrange a mutually agreeable repair date 5) Roof Doctors under NO circumstances will perform any further repairs, beyond the repairs listed in our Estimate # ***

After receipt of complaint, I contacted the Complainant, Ms [redacted] by email on January 9, 2017, to determine whether or not the repairs were completed to her satisfaction. She replied on the same day, by email, indicating that 'the complaint was filed on the same day the job was completed.' We...

consider this complaint resolved to the satisfaction of the Complainant. Please call me if you have questions. [redacted] - Co-Owner Roof Doctors - [redacted]

Mr [redacted] obviously did not read my response to his Revdex.com Complaint.    The Estimate # [redacted] that he signed on 1/14/2017, clearly states: "Price of repair is subject to change if additional damage is found; including but not limited to: damage to the roof wood members at the sub-roofing.  Price change is subject to authorization and approval by the homeowner prior to the additional repair being completed".   In fact, Mr [redacted], hired a handyman and paid him $1,900 to perform roof wood repairs pursuant to our Estimate # [redacted], dated 12/22/2016, AFTER he had rejected these wood repairs based on the Termite Inspection Report that he provided to us, evidently feeling that our Estimate # [redacted] was too expensive.   In fact, after realizing that his Handyman did not complete all of the repairs in his Termite Inspection Report, Mr. [redacted] had us come out to his home AGAIN to bid the work that his handyman did not complete to render a 3rd Estimate from us.   We provided a 3rd Estimate for the uncompleted repairs by his handyman pursuant to our Estimate # [redacted], dated 3/7/2017.  Mr. [redacted] has rejected and refused to sign any of our Estimates outside of our Estimate # [redacted] that he signed on 1/14/2017.   Roof Doctors REFUSES to do any work that is not in our Scope of Work, pursuant to our contract, which is Estimate # [redacted].    We are NOT going to perform ANY work that we did not agree to and that is not in our Contract.    Mr. [redacted] told us that we are not allowed to perform any work on his property until further notice.     Again, we will ONLY return to the home of Mr [redacted] on the following conditions:1) AFTER he has emailed photos to my email address at [redacted] showing that work has not been completed pursuant to the SIGNED Estimate # [redacted].     2)  Sending me an email to the same address granting us permission to perform the repairs in his photographs.   3)  Being present at the home to observe those repairs being completed.   4)  Once Mr. [redacted] has provided photos by email and given us permission to perform the repairs in the email, pursuant to our signed Estimate # [redacted], then my office staff will contact Mr. [redacted] to arrange a mutually agreeable repair date.   5)  Roof Doctors under NO circumstances will perform any further repairs, beyond the repairs listed in our Estimate # [redacted].

1) Notwithstanding the fact that homeowner contacted Roof Doctors AFTER their 1-year repair warranty had already expired, Roof Doctors will be completing this leak repair  on May 3, 2017 at NO CHARGE to the Homeowner.2) The contract that homeowner signed back on  January 29. 2016...

specifically notes as follows:  "If in the event any repair is completed or a Roof Certification Warranty is issued by Roof Doctors on this home and there is a subsequent roof leak, Roof Doctors shall not be held liable for any interior water damage of any kind caused by such leak."     It is recommended that Homeowner contact their homeowner insurance policy to determine, whether or not, any interior water damage is covered under the terms of the homeowner insurance policy.

I am rejecting this response because: I had another company come out to assess the work since we had an additional leak in another room.  This company informed me that the installation of the walkway has left the battens wet with water running behind.  In addition Roof Doctors in writing said all broken tiles would be replaced with this job.  The installation is incorrect by industry standards and a curb needs to separate the two roofs.  My further issue with this co is upon inspection and certification in March they should have known and listed the problems with the valleys and multiple areas covered with tar.

I am rejecting this response because:  We have two separate issues.  We had the valley repaired by Quality Roofing which falls under the roof certification for $1300.  I have no problem providing the cancelled check.  The remaining amount requested is to redo the walkway that is installed incorrectly.  This repair does not fall under your certification.  I hired your company to put in a walkway and it was put in wrong.  Please just respond with your answer to [redacted] at the CSLB as it is obvious that you are not taking responsibility and standing behind your work and your company dodges any type of work that falls under your certification that requires more than gluing broken tiles or sealing areas with mastic.

I am rejecting this response because: The original work was performed on 4/18/16.  That work was insufficient and incorrect and began leaking causing significant damage inside our home on 10/14/16.  At that time Roof Dr. finds that it is due to crushed tiles.  I have [redacted] Roofing come out and they find that the leak is not from crushed tiles but a section of roof approx. 8x8 that is complete mush, and something that should have been caught when Roof Doctors did the repair on 4/18/16.  They further point out the valley above the kitchen is going to be a future problem.  11/18/16 [redacted] and [redacted] repair the leak and installed a walkway to the AC unit.  I specifically show [redacted] the picture of the valley that was taken by [redacted] and ask will this be repair per my email from [redacted].  [redacted] stated you will be walking off this roof with everything from the [redacted] report completed and no broken tiles.  He tells me yes, it needs to be bent up to change the water flow.  12/28/16 [redacted] screws a metal strip into the battens and places a completed tag on my door.  1/11/17 [redacted] inspects a new leak in the kitchen but claims it's on the flat roof.  1/16/17 Cal Vintage inspects and finds that the valley is installed wrong and the battens are forcing water to flow sideways.  They also determined the walkway was installed incorrect and will be a future problem.  Just for good measure I had Tim from Quality Roofing come out for a second opinion.  He immediately found the leak in the valley and the battens forcing water sideways.  He too confirmed that the walkway would need to be completely redone.  To fix these two problems will now cost me upwards of 9K.  Your offer to refund me my 2K when you've left me in a worse position of 9K is unacceptable.  This will only be settled by you taking responsibility for your workmanship and dodging what falls under your Roof Certification (leak in the kitchen).  I will only take the full payment of $8759.00.

We have been trying to obtain information from this Homeowner for weeks.    This Homeowner has only provided hearsay and conclusory statements based on what other people may have told her.    We have been asking for written information and the only thing provided to us by the Homeowner is a "Repair Proposal/Contract" from Cal-Vintage Roofing, dated January 16, 2017, prepared by [redacted] - Estimator / Sales in the amount of $8,759.00.   Please refer to the Cal-Vintage Repair Proposal / Contract - there is nothing in this Proposal / Contract to substantiate Homeowner's claim that:  'The remaining amount requested is to redo the walkway that is installed incorrectly.'  or to substantiate Homeowner's claim ' I hired your company to put in a walkway and it was put in wrong.'  Cal-Vintage has only simply provided a picture labeled 'Tile and composition installed incorrectly.  Water blows under roof'.   The Roof Doctors' technician that did the repair on this home has been a Licensed C-39 roofing contractor for 25 years and has repaired and replaced thousands of roofs while running his own business.   It is our belief that a Licensed Roofing Contractor knows more about repairing and replacing roofs than an Estimator / Sales.  We believe that Cal-Vintage Roofing is trying to take advantage of this homeowner by charging for repairs that are not needed.   In fact, most of the repairs listed in the Cal-Vintage Repair Proposal / Contract are totally unrelated to the repairs that were contracted by Homeowner with Roof Doctors.    The Sacramento Valley has had 30 inches of rain and up to 70 mph winds withing the past 4 months and Homeowner has provided no proof that this roof has a current leak problem.  We recommend that our ownership and that our technician that completed the repairs, who are all Licensed C-39 Roofing Contractors, meet at the home with [redacted] of Cal-Vintage Roofing so that we can all  go up onto the roof to discuss the repairs that we were originally contracted to do and that were completed, and the repairs that Cal-Vintage are now currently recommending.   We are asking that this Homeowner set up 3 tentative dates and times with [redacted] of Cal-Vintage roofing, and we will confirm with the Homeowner which date and will work for us.    I can be emailed the tentative dates at [redacted]@roofdoctors.com or I can be reached at [redacted].  We look forward to your reply.   [redacted] - Roof Doctors / Co-Owner
