Terrible Business
Our sunroom isn't finished and it was started almost a year ago. BetterLiving Sunrooms won't return my calls or emails. They failed to pass our townships inspections several times. The installers are friendly, but the business owner Rick Yeager is rude. Overall they have terrible customer service and need to be asked multiple times for anything. They have very high pressure sales, like a car salesman. We didn't receive a veteran's discount and paid way too much at the Conshohocken, PA franchise.

My wife and I entered into contract in May 2018 to have a 12'X16' sun room built at our home. We have had numerous problems with this room (I will try to stay focused on the current issues). The room was completed last October, we started to experience a bulging or lifting of the laminate flooring almost immediately and notified them via email of this and other issues. The glass panels were not seated into the channels properly and we went through the entire winter period with heavy condensation and frost on the glass, metal, and floor of this sun room. After numerous emails and phone calls we keep getting the run around. The floor panels at this point have the edges deformed from this unusual lifting and the quarter round molding is scarred from having been removed and re-installed by their service techs on several visits. The last men that were here were the two men that did the original room construction. They told my wife (I wasn't home that day) that the reason for the bulging of the floor was due to us having two HVAC floor vents and three floor electrical outlets installed. This work was done three weeks after I first notified them that the floor was lifting in numerous locations. Due to the current condition of this damaged laminate flooring we have asked for new materials to be put down to replace this damaged flooring. We also after almost ten months have not received our sun room warranty that they brag about in their publications. There is much more to this story, I have tried to stay on point with the most pressing issues today. Please help us get resolution to this home improvement nightmare. Thank You *** &

Dear ***,

The flooring has been resolved. We repaired the floating laminate floor on August 13th. However, the customer has an outstanding balance of $500. Once the balance is paid in full, we will send the warranty card to the customer.

I appreciate your help and cooperation in this matter.

Sincerely, Rick Y

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:
We have asked in our original complaint to have the entire laminate flooring and molding replaced because the tongue & groove joints were damaged due to the extended period of time that the flooring was bulged due to improper installation last fall and also due to the glass panels not being seated correctly during the original assembly of the sun room. This was discovered this past spring when men other than the original assembly crew came after six+ months of being notified that we had experienced the bulging floor and heavy amounts of ice and condensation in the sun room during the entire winter period. The man that was sent to our home in September did relief cuts around the interior of the room and only replaced several of the floor panels even though he had six or more boxes of brand new flooring. The floor was better after he left than prior to coming but still has spots were it is bulged, sharp edges at the joints, and the 1/4 round molding looks chewed up and ugly from being taken up and reinstalled several times. We asked this man to put down an entire new floor and molding to satisfy our complaint but he did not. The floor surface isn't smooth as it should be and certainly not of the quality of completed work that their salesman Dwight C had indicated to us when he came to our home in May 2018.In response to Mr. Y's comment about an unpaid balance he has stated fact, the reason than $500.00 was withheld is because Mr. C during his visit told us that all sun rooms received an electrical supply line and box in the ceiling to accept a light fixture or combination light & ceiling fan, and that if we purchased that prior to the construction of the room the installers would be more that happy to install that fixture for us while they were here. We purchase that ceiling fan & light months before they got around to schedule our sun room but when I asked them about it they told us that they didn't have that work on their project list even though we were originally told that it was automatically done in all of their sun rooms. In closing my wife and I will be all to happy to write a check for $500.00 if a new floor with molding is installed in a timely manner and we are given the warranty that is supposed to accompany the project so that we can put an end to this 18 month old nightmare. Thank you for your time and attention in this matter.

Regards

Good afternoon

This will be my last time reaching out to your organization. This process has been extremely frustrating! I was expecting a smooth/quick process. It has been 4 weeks since anyone has worked on my sunroom. I am unable to reach out to the project manager (he does not return my calls). I call the office and I am guided through numerous prompts, instead of a live person. The most infuriating thing is when appointments are confirmed, either they are not kept or cancelled at the last minute. Again, the last appointment was changed 2 hours after I told you my aunt would not be available. Then without consideration of my schedule, you sent someone the next morning without confirmation to pick up the supplies.

On June 21, a check for $12666 was cleared without hesitation. Then again on July 3 $7916.25, as per the contract a payment was made. I am extremely confused as to why Better Living is not holding up to their end of the contract!

I resumed this project over a year ago. For almost six months, I received phone calls from your office stating the project was stalled related to permit issues. It was not until I called the city of Philadelphia L&I that I was advised the project was considered abandoned by Better Living. After numerous phone calls, your organization picked up.

Finally, after verbally agreeing to remove the siding on the house and replacing it with sheetrock with no cost, I receive a sticky weeks later with a cost of almost $2500. I understand the 1st contract including this but it was retracted in the 2nd contract (my choice) with NO adjustment to the cost. I was truly disappointed with the added cost. There is significant area of my back wall that had citing remove to put the fire wall up. This portion of the wall was never replaced with original siding.

As I mention, I am extremely happy with the product. The service and professionalism is less than desirable. The room is still leaking. It is my preference tha

This is my 2nd complaint in 30 days My initial complaint was resolved. My sunroom was was completed to my satisfaction. The also completed changes as they agreed. During the process the needed to removed absetos siding that they were paid to remove and left them in the room and my yard. I have since removed the siding from the room fearing it will contaminate my home. No return call but they collected the final checkDesired Outcome: Remove the siding they were paid for!

We have a brand new sunroom and Peco bucket dropped on the roof of our new sunroom. We requested over and over from Better Living to give us an estimate on roof replacement because Peco will not give us any reimbursement until they see an estimate from Better Living. Better living will not return our calls and when they finally do they keep give us the go around and tell us they are working on it. It has now been 2months since the accident and we just want reimbursement from Peco. Please help

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because: They did send someone out but never gave us a repair estimate! This what we need as per Peco in order for them to pay for the damage. That's all I ask for! Peco wants an estimate not me and that's what I keep telling Better Living. I will search for a different company to do the repairs when I get claim paid by Peco.

I engaged in a contract for replacement windows in my sunroom in January, 2019. Betterliving assured me they would work with my HOA. In personally contacting my HOA, I learned that Betterliving had not kept up communications as they should have and I had to intervene. Betterliving received a deposit from me at the time of contract signing of $2,000. They required an additional payment of $2,600 which was required for the windows to be ordered. These payments were made prior to my HOA denying my request for the window replacement due to concerns about structural safety. I have attempted to contact Betterliving by phone, certified mail and email and have not received a response. They have had $4,600 of my money for several months and I have been paying interest on a loan for the project funds, as well as incurred charges for the loan. Betterliving is not communicative regardless of the method of attempting to contact them. I want my money refunded as well as be reimbursed for the charges incurred in obtaining a loan for the project.

Dear ***,

*** signed a contract with us to replace windows on her enclosed porch. Her Home Owners Association requires that she replace damaged deck boards before the windows are replaced. We have attempted to set a meeting to look at and price the work required by the HOA but she has not responded to schedule an appointment.

We look forward to assisting *** with the work required.

I appreciate your help and cooperation in this matter.

Sincerely,

Rick Y.

They took our $20,000 and made us sign a contract for a sunroom 7 months ago and since then nothing was done. We didn’t even see a drawing. The sales person Dwight is not even answering our calls or txt messages. I really think the whole thing is a hoax.

Worst company I have ever dealt with. All they want is money in every step of their contract and give you excuses why they can’t start the work. Keith their so called project manager is not truthful and never follows up on anything. Even after all the aggravation of signing a contract in March and not getting my enclosure built till August Keith never called once to see if I was satisfied with the work. They have no customer service skills at all. Don’t use them !!!

Deposit was given to this business for a porch project on 12/29/18, but a refund requested on 1/2/19 and cancellation of contract within 3 business days per PA law and the company's own policies, with guarantee to 100% return/refund the deposit within 7-10 business days. Waited the 7-10 days and no refund was sent. Repeated calls made to the office AFTER the 10 days and was told that someone from accounting must deal with it. Repeated requests were made to receive a call back but in 4 days no call back was received. On 1/31/19 another call made to main number to request status of refund, and again was told that accounting would have to 'look into that'. At that point request was made to speak to manager or person in charge, and was on hold for more than 5 minutes. Called back and immediately requested to leave my name and number rather than leave me on hold. Receptionist took my request but no call back was received for the rest of the day. This company is still in possession of my refund, illegally, and is stonewalling me in my efforts to inquire about when the refund will be sent (already past the promised due date).

I contracted with SRIG LLC - Better Living Sunrooms in June of 2018 for a sunroom.
The sunroom was started in Septeber and finished around October, 2018. The top step needed a strip of composite on it and the railings/tops were point in wrong.
The contractor assured me they would be back to correct everything before final inspection. I have called them at least 3 times in November and December and was told they would be out to finish the repairs. No one has ever called me. On January 4th, 2019 I was assured by Keith the project manager that he would come out for repairs. He has the info that these corrections are needed. As of Monday, January 28th, no one has contacted me or come to complete the repairs. I paid all payments on time and everthing is fully paid. The final inspection cannot be completed until the repairs are made and no one is making any attempt to complete them. All the information I get is that they will be taking care of things and they will call me and that hasn't happened.

Had SRIG scheduled to help with repairs to an installed basement system, they scheduled the appt but then didn't show up. No call, no email. Just didn't show. Very unprofessional.
This would be 0 stars if the site allowed.

What a terrible customer service as these guys showed up in time to my home and our mistake we committed to them to provide us the installation of my sunroof with a deposit of $1300 on June 16th, 2018. Today is Aug 2nd, 2018 over 90 days, I have NOT heard anything back on the next steps from these guys. When Called 13 times, I got Voicemail and left many with no return call. One of these calls was attended and I spoken with a installation department and was told that he is manager and will get back to me. I am waiting now over 2 weeks and no return call.

I hired and gave Betterliving Sunrooms all but 20,000.00 dollars, to build me a new deck and closed in porch. this was signed on April 29th, 2018. I was told that the construction would start and be done around the 1st or 2nd week of June. for the stipulation was that I had a husband on Hospice and wanted him to be able to go outside in the wheelchair and enjoy the outside and I needed the construction done by then for his health was gradually fading.
I have called numerous times. and then found out that they said I owed a sewer bill where my bill said it was due July 29th but I had to pay it then in order to get the permit. so I did but put the wrong last account number on the payment. Well that was taken care of a timely fashion. then I was told that it would be the end of June beginning of July to be done.. Told them not acceptable as we had discussed we were on a time frame due to my husbands health and I had promised him I would take him outside.
Well, My husband died June 22, 2018, and I never did get to keep my promise of taking him outside, due to Betterliving sunrooms not keeping their promise.
I called them 20 minutes ago and now they are telling me that it will be mid to late August possibly before they can do my deck or porch. Again now, I have paid them all but 20,000.00 dollars.
I told them that I want the building of the porch and deck done now or I want ALL of my money back..
This is unacceptable.
Thank you

September 12, 2018 Dear ***, We have completed the sunroom installation for this customer. We did tell her that we would build the sunroom as quickly as possible, but never made any promise of a specific date. We did start work within 30 days of receiving the approved permit. Our contract states 45 days. We did have to wait for financing arrangements, engineering drawings, the approved permit and a schedule that was impacted by a large number of weather delays this summer. We built the open deck as described in our contract with *** and as detailed in the approved building plans. After we put railings on the deck she says we should make it bigger. In an effort to make her happy, we are extending the open deck but need new plans and we need to get a permit modification to do so. We are in the process of doing this and will not be able to continue work until the new permit is approved and received. Please make sure this gets resolved as we have satisfied the customer and are giving her more than she paid for. I appreciate your help and cooperation in this matter. Sincerely, Rick Y.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

I signed the contract 4/28/18, it is now 9/17/18. The sunroom is not done, they just came to put in the electric on 9/13/18. I still do not have samples of flooring to choose from, there are shards of metal shavings and nails everywhere, they have not fixed the side of the deck k where there is a two by four nailed n no protection for the house which could cause rot the deck is not the right size they are trying to short me the proper size deck that they were to replace. I even sent them pictures of old deck and new pictures of the one they tried to say was right. Also the railing is in the wrong area and they were going to put straight down steps when I clearly told them I have bad knees and when initially planned the project the steps would be down a couple landing and the turn to right n down to the ground.

Where they tore all the deck out they left the wall to my house open to rain and moisture when Keith clearly told us they would take care of it. This project is costing me over $50,000.00 and has been the worse nightmare. I’m an easy going person but this company is trying to literally screw me over.
They did put in a doggie door, one that is to small for my dog, and Rick Y saw my dog so he knows it needed to be larger. They have not kept in contact with me, for I have to periodically email or call them to find out what is going on, Leke said the other week that they were waiting for the plans to be approved and it should be only a couple days, it is over two weeks now. There are boxes of pieces of I suppose my porch laying around under deck in the mud and on the deck. The decK that they put up that is not the right size has split boards, so I pray he does not think he is just going to rig my deck with adding pieces to what is already there. Not acceptable for the money I’m paying. The beams under the porch are not anywhere near done. If I can figure out how to attacknpictures I will send them. Well I attached a few pictures. The rain gutter that was cut the half heartedly. Patched and has no spout for the rain to go anywhere but into the roofing eve or overflow onto the deck n into the sunroom. Th wall of my house that is not protected from rain from where they tore down the deck. I can’t go on anymore tonight, All I can do is cry over this mess and try to get them to do right and get it done, it has been 5 months. Thank you***Regards

Contracted with company to build a 4 season room that was suppose to be completed in two weeks. We are three months out and company tells me they will be out to complete project and don’t show up. They lie to me about coming out and don’t show up.

Dear ***,

We have completed the sunroom installation for . & ***. We did tell them that we would build the sunroom as quickly as possible, but never made any promise of a specific date. We did start work within 30 days of receiving the approved permit, well within the 45 days detailed on our contract.

There was a delay in the project when the customer decided they wanted a different door installed in the house wall. We did accommodate them and ordered the custom French door.

We rebuilt steps from the sunroom as approved by the Township, but after they were done *** wanted the moved and built larger. To accommodate her we did rebuild the steps at no charge.

We are finishing the last open item to trim the house door this week.

Please make sure this gets resolved as we have satisfied the customer.

I appreciate your help and cooperation in this matter.

Sincerely,

Rick Y.

Company refuses to refund my deposit of $2000.00 or provide services for my deposit for a deck on my home. I made many attempts to resolve this matter and the company is ignoring my calls and the mangers refuse to contact me about my deposit.

March 8, 2018

Dear ***,

This letter is in response to the complaint response we received regarding ***.

This customer signed a contract with us on 2/16/2017.

We obtained and paid for engineering drawings for her project.

We applied for her permit, got approval and received the building permit for her project.

The materials for her sunroom were manufactured and waiting in our warehouse for installation.

During the above time she was supposed to have *** cable wires moved to allow installation of the project.

When we called her to begin installation she informed us the wires had not been moved yet.

I met with *** and her family on 5/19/2017 and explained how the wires need to be moved, like other neighbors had *** move wires for deck or addition installations. On 5/29/2017 I spoke with a *** rep while he was at her house and explained how the wires need to be moved. He indicated there should be no problem.

On 6/21/2017 she indicated she is still waiting for *** to move the wires.

We are still prepared and ready to complete ***'s project. We have already invested a considerable amount of time and money for her project.

On 7/20/2017 *** called and said she wanted to cancel the project. She was informed that it was way past the point of rescission and that she would not receive any refund costs we have incurred and the previsions of the termination clause in our contract. She actually owes more money than the $2,000 deposit she has paid us. She indicated that she understood she would not be getting any refund as the $2,000 doesn't cover our costs for what we had done for her project already.

Now *** has filed a malicious and baseless complaint with the Revdex.com.

It is extremely important that the Revdex.com remove any record of this complaint from our records.

I appreciate your help and cooperation in this matter.

Sincerely,

Rick Y

[To assist us in bringing this maalltter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Answered]

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

This company is untrustworthy, I initially signed a contract for a sunroom on 2/16/17 which the representative and his. manager he called promised the payments would not be no more than $150.00 a month. When he returned to my home on 3/30/17 after they cashed my check for my deposit, the payments were doubled the amount we discussed and I was forced to get a wooden deck instead. At this time a change of contract was signed which stated I had three business days to cancel. I called *** on 3/31/17 to request a refund because I was not completely satisfied about the change of contract. I was told someone would get back in touch with me. no one contacted me and I called back and talked to a manager Joe who told me I couldn't cancel and stated he could put a lien against my house if I cancelled. This was all before my inspection 4/27/17 when I was informed the wires above my garage had to be moved down. I had *** come out to move the wires but the first time they came they told me the wires were down as far as they could go and they could not understand why the deck could not be above the wires like all my neighbors decks as they stated. When *** could not understand where they wanted the wires to be moved because moving these wires down would block my back door, which the *** technician explained to me. I informed *** and we set a date in May 2017 for an inspector from *** and a technician from *** could meet at my house. The technician from *** came but the inspector did not come but talked to the technician on the phone. *** didn't even keep up their agreement to send the inspector out so that *** could know exactly where they wanted the wires to be moved. This was *** second time out to my house for these wires and the inspector still couldn't understand where to move the wires and when they talked to the inspector he stated they may be able to move them down just a little. *** is trying to use the wires as an excuse knowing that I requested to cancel and wanted a refund before 7/20/2017 which was 3/31/2017 the day after I signed the change of order. *** is using the wires as an excuse because when I contacted them again In January 2018 on several occasions before I decided to get Revdex.com involved to inform them the wires were moved by *** and to resolve this matter no one contacted me back. This company is very unprofessional and have stated untruths in their response and the way I have been treated I don't trust this company in my home. Regards

Great experience. Very knowledgable. Love the product.
