Beutler Air Conditioning Service Reviews (34)

Quiet thorough and knowledgable. Nice chap. Would use again.

Review: Purchased annual plan. Company failed to show twice for pre-paid spring AC service. Did not answer e-mail complaint by us.

Company performed AC service in July 2012. At that time, we purchased an agreement for them to return twice more in the next 12 months. They performed fall service. On two separate occasions in April 2013, they failed to show for spring Ac maintenance. My wife contacted them after the first no-show, and they claimed to have no record of us having an appointment. We re-scheduled for the next week. I contacted after the second no-show, and the person on the phone said no appointment had ever been scheduled, and she had no record of our us even calling the week before. She also claimed to have no record of the service performed in July 2012, nor the annual plan we purchased. I have my copy of the bill we paid in July 2012, and a copy of the separate annual agreement for them to return twice more in the next 12 months. I gave all of the information to the customer service rep. over the phone ,who did nothing to help. About two weeks after my phone call, my wife e-mailed the President of the company, who never responded to my wife's email. Desired Settlement: I want the company to fulfill its agreement with me by scheduling and completing the pre-paid spring servicing of our AC unit.

We are in receipt of your email dated May 29, 2013 regarding the above captioned Complaint. Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention and affording us the opportunity to respond.

We offer a Home Service Plan for our customers' systems to perform the routine maintenance semi-annually. On September 27, 2012 ARS/Rescue Rooter DBA Beutler Air Conditioning (ARS) responded to Mr. [redacted]' request at the property located at [redacted] Ct, [redacted], CA XXXXX and performed the routine maintenance for the HVAC system. We have no record of any communication since that time.

ARS prides itself on providing premier customer service and is eager to ensure the current dispute is resolved. Therefore, we contacted Mrs. [redacted] on May 30, 2013 and scheduled a mutually convenient appointment time to perform the second maintenance visit on June 15, 2013. We appreciate your assistance in resolving this dispute. If you require additional information regarding this Complaint, please contact me directly at (XXX) XXX-XXXX.

This company sent [redacted] to do a tuneup of my five year old heat pump system. He was on time, pleasant (he even did a brief task for me that I couldn't manage) and he told me my system was performing as new and didn't try to sell me unneeded repairs. He seemed to check everything out thoroughly. I was very satisfied with his work..

Excellent service

Review: I called Beutler to schedule my routine maintenance under my comfort Care program I was given a date over a month later.

I purchased Beutler's Comfort Care program and had no idea that my plan had expired. I called in late June to schedule a maintenance appointment when I was given an appointment over a month later on August 8th. Beutler advertises on their Comfort Plan as one that offeres scheduling priority for those who have this plan but that is not the case. I have spent alot of money for this coverage. I also found out that when I called that my plan had expired with no notice given to meDesired Settlement: I would like my comfort care reinstated at full status for 3 years at no cost. Also, I am requesting August 5th or 6th for an appointment date for a maintenance call instead of August 8th

Review: $1200 repair lasted a year on a unit that is only as of now 6 years old that was installed by beutler in the first place.

Just over a year ago, 5/21/12 to be exact, we had Beutler come to our home due to our 5 year old a/c not functioning properly; which beutler installed in the first place back in 2007 for the builder. This year, 6/28/13 the air stopped working, yet again; this was after the 1200 dollar repair done on 5/21/12. Due to the heat we had the first available a/c technician come out whom came highly recommended by friends of ours. After the technician was done performing service/repair he gave us a bill for $130, he said it was highly unlikely that there was a leak where Beutler had claimed to repair one due to the location and accessibility. The technician said "it may have been undercharged if in fact there was a leak and they had to recharge it." Our issue is this technician came out and did essentially the same service for 130 dollars only he didn't tighten a bolt. The technician that came out this time said we should just wait and see if it in-fact had been under charged or there was a leak. Our biggest problem is we had an air conditioner in our other home that lasted 20 years before we had any sort of issues with it, we had this new unit for 5 years had to spend 1200 and then now it's broken again a year later; not to mention it was the same company that installed it. We're not unrealistic people, we know things break but this is a little excessive. We feel we have been incredibly ripped off, twice!! To top off everything, the Beutler rep originally said 1700 dollars but if we bought a service contract they would reduce the price. I'm sure this is just their marketing strategy but we have yet to receive all of our services. Apparently it's our responsibility to hound them about coming out and checking it. It wasn't until it was expiring they called us to renew it... seriously?? Desired Settlement: Are ideal resolution would have been to have no issues with our air conditioner for at least a couple years after paying 1200 dollars and getting a clean bill of health, so to speak. We would like to get a copy of the technician's notes of the services he performed, the invoice we have simply says just about the same thing the other guy's 130 dollar invoice says. We have no intention of trying to get anything back that isn't due to us but we feel this situation should not have occurred. My son is going to be posting this situation on several poster boards he maintains and other blogs he edits for the greater Sacramento area including posting to the Real-estate broker board he belongs to. He wants to make sure this does not happen to as many people as he can reach. We have asked him to wait on this to see if we can get some sort of resolution or explanation to the issue; or even a better explanation of why we are going through another repair a year later with a 6 year old unit. We would like half of our money back for the original service or, Beutler to come out and fix what they apparently didn't finish backed by a warranty of their work for at least 2 seasons. We hardly use our air conditioner but a few times a month so you can see our frustration. We feel Beutler is taking unfair advantage of senior citizens.

On May 21,2012 American Residential Services LLC DBA Beutler Air Conditioning and Heating (ARS) responded to the service request on the HVAC system at the property located at [redacted] Ct., [redacted] CA XXXXX. Our service professional also repaired a leak at the TXV valve and Ms. [redacted] signed the invoice stating the work was completed.

On July 10, 2013 we returned to provide a diagnostic visit and found a repair was needed at the TXV valve, service valve, and shrader valve. ARS prides itself on providing premier customer service. Therefore, we will repair the TXV valve, service valve, and shrader valve at no additional cost to Ms. [redacted] as a gesture of goodwill. Additionally, we added refrigerant to ensure the unit will continue operating until the repair is complete to ensure the occupants are not inconvenienced.

Business' Final Response

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)

Beutler came out and fixed everything, there were 4 leaks. We are thankful they came out and made good on the repairs, the one thing we wish they would do is warranty their work. They are saying there is no warranty, so if for any reason a weld that they did breaks we are just out of luck. But we are very thankful to them for fixing the original problems.

Review: Advertisement says $79 for diagnostic of hot water heater leaking problem to be waived if any work is done and paid for. While conducting diagnostic, I approved installation of a new water intake valve which was completed at that time. Replacement of hot water tank was scheduled for Following Monday. Called Sunday to cancel installation of tank. Installer charged me $279 for installation of new intake valve which I was willing to pay but he refused to waive the $79 diagnostic fee despite the fact that I paid him for installation of the new intake valve. The advertising was therefor deceptive.Desired Settlement: Refund of the $79 diagnostic fee.

Review: This review is written about the companies Beutler Air Conditioning & Plumbing and Beutler Air Conditioning Services, and ARS American Residential Services of Ca Inc all of which hold California Contractors License # [redacted] which makes them the same company to the state of California. MAY of 2013 Beutler installed their flagship "Aqua Chill" air conditioner that was claimed to be energy saving and reliable. In June 2013 the very first really high temp week of the summer the "Aqua Chill" failed. It took a few days to get the unit repaired at that time and when the next heat wave hit. BAM it broke down again. This time the fix was quicker, still we were without cool air for a very hot evening. Under the new warranty contract a service person has been coming twice a year to monitor and maintain the unit sometimes upgrading parts ahead of time and asking us to pay for upgrades at their recommendation. 2014 was a much cooler than normal summer and we paid Beutler to add a surge protector in the attic at their recommendation for safety. June 13 2015 we came home in the evening to a hot house with the inside fan running picking up hot attic air and blowing it into the house. The Aqua Chill was again not running cooling unit was again not operating. After checking the fuses, circuit breakers and cycling the thermostat I eventually got it working that evening although it was not cooling properlyThe next day, June 14 it failed to operate at all and June 15 Beutler Air Conditioning and Plumbing technician got the fans operational and left. The house did not cool down and 2.5 hours later the system shut down with a very large bang.June 17 another technician came and replaced a capacitor installed on the 15th and did some other work. However I told him that while the fans were running the air was not being cooled. Later I measured on a three degree temperature drop between ambient and register air, with a very sensitive IR Temp Guage and a digital probe. It has been two weeks since this worked.Desired Settlement: Since this unit has had several failures and has now been non operational for two weeks and it is only three years old I believe we should have this unit exchanged for a working reliable and efficient unit as we were promised when we signed the purchase contract.

Response:

Our technician’s inspection found the refrigerant levels to be low on the system. He then performed an extensive leak search on the AquaChill unit, and the outside lineset using an electronic sniffer, and no leak was found at the AquaChill or the outside lineset. We also checked the rest of the system - the motor, and the pump were both drawing factory rated amperage, we also checked the compressor, and it was drawing below factory rated maximum amperage. The run capacitor was within specifications; therefore, we have determined that our Aquachill unit is performing within our manufacturer specification. We believe the issue the customer is experiencing is related to the installation that was completed by Beutler ARS Corporation. They have informed us that they are returning to perform a leak search on the remaining equipment. This is an ARS Beutler installation, not a [redacted] installation.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Review: We paid Beutler Air Conditioning a total of $488. When we looked at the bill and saw that they charged us $399 for a particular part we called five other local HVAC companies who all told us that this is a $50 part. We have contacted Beutler multiple times and our calls are never returned. This is an obvious overcharge on their behalf and we want a refund.Desired Settlement: We would like a refund.

Review: Air condition not producing cold air. Service technician failed to report the issue during maintenance/check up service.

Hi,

We don't use our air condition much. In summer 2012, we noticed that our air condition seems not cooling down the room temperature during a few hot days. Since we had the service maintenance appointment scheduled, we were hoping that the service technician would tell us the status of our air condition. In September 2012, the technician told us everything is working fine. He recommended duct cleaning which cost $1098. We didn't do it because of the cost. Then the weather is not hot, we didn't use the air condition until June 8, 2013 which was a very hot day. We found that no cold air came out the vent. We were very upset by this finding. Our AC was installed by Beutler, then we had service warranty for 10 years and service plan until end of last year. We cancelled the service plan because we didn't get corresponding services and warranties although we are paying Beutler for more than 10 years. Now we have to look other companies for our AC problems. Beutler hired non-qualified technicians and failed to detect problems and failed to provide maintenance work. Instead, the technician proposed very expensive unnecessary work. Desired Settlement: Provide free diagnostic work and fix our AC problem.

Consumer's Final Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

Although we were told that we will be called before technician came, we never received calls at all on July 12, 2013. We called our tenant at 5pm and found the technicians has left a while ago. My tenant said that the technician will call me later. However, we never received calls. Then I called Beutler on July 15 for a written report and recommendations. Then I got the email from manager [redacted]

I didn't get report from October 17, 2012 servicing appointment. I got a call from the technician reporting a repair. I was in the middle of work and was not able to understand his technical jargon. I authorized the work because I worried about not having a working HVAC. The invoice is very brief with no detail explanation. All I captured is $175 charge. I am not able to read the abbreviated handwritten words. I did not get any idea what was recommended. So I have to call Beutler after my tenant reporting AC problem to request typed written report and recommendations. It's not our intention to decline the service. It's because customers never got clear written report and recommendations.

I received invoice this morning July 17, 2013. The quote of cleaning service is much higher that other service company. I will hire other company to do the cleaning work.

We are in receipt of your email dated July 5, 2013 regarding the above captioned Complaint. Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention and affording us the opportunity to respond.

We contacted Ms. [redacted] and offered to provide a free diagnostic service visit. Ms. [redacted] informed us she no longer needed service at the property mentioned in the Complaint, but requested we service a rental property instead. Therefore, American Residential Services of California, Inc. DBA Beutler Air Conditioning and Heating (ARS) responded to the rental property located at 1702 Esplanade Circle, Folsom, CA XXXXX on July 12, 2013. Our service professional called Ms. [redacted] and left a voicemail prior to arrival, and performed a detailed diagnosis on the HVAC system. The service professional found the unit was operational but not cooling properly due to evidence of pest damage, lack of proper airflow from the coil and blower, as well as ductwork being dirty and needing sealing.

On October 17, 2012 ARS responded to this rental property to perform routine maintenance. Upon arrival our service professional found evidence of pest damage, droppings on return ducts, a blower cap low, and also recommended system cleaning and replacement of the capacitor. Our service professional contacted Ms. [redacted] by phone to obtain her approval. Ms. [redacted] approved the capacitor repair, but declined the other recommendations to address the ductwork issues.

ARS prides itself on providing premier customer service and is eager to ensure the current dispute is resolved. Copies of the findings for both visits to the rental property were provided to Ms. [redacted] on July 15, 2013 to honor her request. We will be more than happy to perform any work requested at our regular pricing.

We appreciate your assistance in resolving this dispute. If you require additional information regarding this Complaint, please contact me directly at (XXX) XXX-XXXX.

Darin P[redacted] was great!!

Review: I was recommeded to update my 15 yrs old central conditioning systems that were still working by sales people from Beutler. Two [redacted] systems were installed for $15,000. They worked for two summers with limited usage, but they failed to cool last week. I had to scream for them to come out and check on the systems. I didnt think the ac system should fail so soon so I did some research online. [redacted] is in a class action lawsuit for defective air conditioning products and my units are discounted and can be purchased for $1,000. The first serviceman said he had to add freon to a unit, but won't tell me how much. The second serviceman had the freon tank attached to the other unit for half an hour and claim he did not add any freon. He performed many tests to both units and did not find any leaks in both systems. Maybe I should of spend $1,000 for another ac company to check on the systems. Either way, I am stuck with defective products. I believe beutler is dishonest and I will be looking to add freon every summer for the ac systems to work. Beutler sold me defective products in bad faith. This is consumer fraud. They should not be selling defective products that's known in their industry. They ripped me off, I want my money back.Desired Settlement: I would like my money refunded.
