Big ALS gym-amityville ny

Big ALS gym- big scam
After you put your membership on hold, they wait a year or two, send it to collections with no notifications. Nothing in the mail no voicemail.
Now you have to pay hundreds of dollars. Some f----big nerve.
Happened to 2 people in my family and many others that I know.
Can you imagine how many it really happened to'!

Review: My wife and I quit the gym with a certified letter which was required by the gym on 10-**-15, I have been charged three consecutive months for 2 gym memberships since then. I have spoken with the owner, Terry F[redacted], on numerous occasions. He promised a refund of the recent charges as well as discontinued membership. This was a month ago. I call the gym on a weekly basis and he never returns my phone call. The gym is incredibly unprofessional and is probably doing this to other clients also.Desired Settlement: Refund the past three mos. of dues taken from debit card and cancel memberships for myself and my wife

Review: They charged my credit card four times in error and claimed they would credit my card back with the funds but have not done so.

My son signed up for a class and then decided not to take it. They charged us $25 on 10/**/15 and 11/**/15 even though he never went. They said they would credit us but did not.

My wife quit the gym in November of 2015 but they still charged her $39.99 on 11/**/15 and 12/**/15 even though she does not go there and has quit. They said they would refund but did not.Desired Settlement: I would like my credit card credited back with the two $25 charges for 10/**/15 and 11/**/15 as well as two 39.99 charges for 11/**/15 and 12/**/15.

Review: I joined Big Al's last September **,2014 and paid $39.98. I decided I could not make the commitment and canceled within 2 weeks. One of the reps at the front desk said they would refund my deposit. Early March 2015 I started received calls from a creditor saying I owed big al's $336 but I advised them I canceled last September. They called often and I called Big Al's and they gave me the run around. The rep I spoke to last September doe not work there anymore and I have been requesting a refund and a letter to the credit bureau for over a month. They said over and again I would receive a refund but they are still not cooperating.Desired Settlement: They still owe me $39.98 and I need a copy of the letter they are suppose to send to the credit bureau to clear my credit problem.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved. Actually I spoke to [redacted] at the facility and he helped me resolve my problem, I also told him I made a complaint to the Revdex.com but I did get a refund.

Sincerely,

Review: I signed a contract for gym service in May 2014, and was told that when I would go back to school that I could put it on hold until next year. They assured me they would stop debiting my account. I called many times to stop charging my account that I was away in school in Baltmore. over 6 months they still kept taking a payment out of account left me no alternative to stop payment with my bank. Then after colecting for almost a year and me not using the gym they want the balance of there contract which was $39.98. I have called them again this summer they said they would get me some credit for some months if I signed another contract, I said no that I was not happy with there way of handing of the matter. So I was told that they would cancel my account with no balance due.Now 2 months later I got a collections letter.so after all this time I think I should have a refund for using a gym for 3 months and paying for a year. lDesired Settlement: refund some money for a gym contract that I did use and was told that I can put on hold when I came back ,from school.

Response:

At this time, I have been contacted directly by Big Al's Family Fitness regarding complaint ID [redacted], however my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Big ALS has not refunded the money they owe me. They were supposed to mail me a check]

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Sincerely,

Review: I moved from Amityville almost 2 years ago. Upon moving I called, emailed and went in directly to tell Big Al's to let them know I was moving and would not be using their gym anymore. For some reason after multiple attempts to close my account Big AL's continues to submit me to collections. While attending the gym I never missed a payment. Again, I have told them multiple times, in multiple ways, I will not be returning to their gym to cancel my memebership. When I do call to have this issue resolved, they tell me that in order to have me removed from the collections I must pay at least half the remaining balance. They are also extremely rude and have hung up on me on many occasions. I will not pay this because I did not attend the gym during the dates they are trying to collect from me. I tried to cancel.Desired Settlement: I want them to take me out of collections. They are ruining my credit which up until now has been perfect.

Review: I was a former member of Big Als Family Fitness until I moved in may of 2014 I canceled my account and was charged for 17 months at $19.99 totaling $339.83 I was refunded $170.00 the gym stated they can not refund the other 50% I am missing $169.83 and I need that money as soon as possible. I called the gym over 50 times and now they are hanging up my calls and will not return my callsDesired Settlement: I want my bank account to be credited $169.83

Review: I joined this gym, Sweat NY, in the beginning of 2013.

I went a few times. Then, in April 2013, on my last visit I canceled due to the fact that I couldn't afford the monthly payments any more. Upon looking through my bank statements to find something else, I find that not only am I not canceled, I've been losing the $20/month plus 3 maintenance fees of $45. I called the gym today, 10/*/15, to request someone please refund me the money owed me. The 1st gentleman I spoke to showed some compassion and acknowledged "yes, that is a lot of money to have lost over the years". He also mentioned something of my account being frozen. He went to speak to his manager, who got on the phone with me and proceeded to tell me again and again if I did not have a paper from Sweat NY saying I had canceled 2yrs ago, there was nothing he could do.

I do not have a piece of paper on me from this facility. It's been 2 yrs. Also, I asked if they could look in their computer at my attendance. I have not set foot in either one of their facilities since April 2013. Why is it such a problem to get results? The manager then mentioned that the account didn't show as frozen (as the previous person mentioned) and that I had to show up in person or send a certified letter to cancel. I work long hours and take public transit...this not an option to come in person. Certified letter? I will not pay another dime into this. To say I am extremely upset, would be an understatement. The way Sweat NY operates is terrible and near criminal.Desired Settlement: To be refunded the approx. $735 owed to me from April 2013 to present date.
