Review: I scheduled a move with Big Sam Moving company for 6/28/14 from 1-4 pm. Prior to making this appointment, I asked for a price estimate along with everything included in that price, as well as anything that would be an additional cost.

They quoted me a price of $285 ($95/hr). I asked if this included the full 3 hours of moving, and they said yes. I was also told that they do not charge for traveling time.

I asked if they charged to wrap the furniture. I was told it was included if you want blankets or you pay for plastic.

The company called the day before to confirm the time of 1 pm. Since I live in Hoboken, I had to pay the town $60 ($20/hr) to put up "No Parking" signs in front of my home so the truck could park.

On the day of the move, the company called at 8:30 am and said they were coming at 9:30 am. I told them this would not work because I had already paid $60 for moving signs for 1-4 pm. They refused to honor their time of 1 pm, so we were forced to move early. Since we were not ready, we had to move a bunch of boxes ourselves afterwards.

When they arrived, they told us that we had to pay an extra hour for traveling, even though the receptionist assured me that we would not have to pay for $4 hours. On top of that, they charged us $4 each for 7 rolls of tape, totaling $28. According to the receptionist, the tape was supposed to be included. The company did not even use 7 rolls of tape. Instead, we found 7, half used rolls of tape all over the apartment after they left. In total, they charged us $410, which was $125 more than the price the company had given us. When the company told me the price was $285, they told me this was the final price, all included. However, they then charged us $125. On top of that, I had to pay an additional $60 on "No Parking" signs which we were not allowed to use since they did not come at the right time. Since we were not ready to move at

This company is a complete scam.Desired Settlement: I would like to be reimbursed $185 to account for the huge hike in price as well as the 'no parking' signs.

Review: I was selling a piano and buyer of piano hired this company to move piano from my house to their house.While taking piano out of house a portion of a step was broken because they had no ramps. I immediately showed broken step to movers. They responded by telling me it was my fault because piano was too heavy and they threatened to leave piano on my front lawn. They eventually moved piano onto truck when they realized I was calling police. My husband phoned the company twice that afternoon to ask how payment for step would be handled. The woman in the office told him his wife was a troublemaker by calling police and he was hung up on twice. I did take picture of step while movers were here as did one of the movers.Desired Settlement: When I get step repaired I would like for them to pay the bill.

Review: The Quote given by the company was totally dishonest. The lady who took the call and gave the quote was very clearly told by us that the moving distance was very less and it involved the use of a Freight elevator. The moving was intentionally delayed and it all occured at a very very slow pace.A 4 hour job was stretched to 6 hours and not only this an additional 1 hour travel time ( to & fro ) was accounted.The lead guy told us that it was 50 $ for coming to Home address and 50$ for going to the destination.On top of it the receptionist started calling every 10 minutes and was ordering the movers to leave my stuff out in the open! She also screamed and abused my wife and me over the phone.extremely dishonest and pathetic customer service.Desired Settlement: I would like to know wwhy the additional surcharge on my invoice and the company did not even bothered to inform us in advance of the overcharge.

Review: Big Sam Co was contracted to move my furniture from south orange NJ to Winter Springs FLA. The pick up was scheduled for August 21th 2014. I get a call from the Owner Sam that he has delivery around the Orlando area He needs to pick up my furniture on the 19th of August. I rushed and Boxed and labeled everything to be on time and ready. He showed up on that day 3 hours late. Picked up my goods collected half of the money $ 2000.dollars the estimate was $ 3.200 dollars after he picked my furniture he stated the price now was $ 4000. dollars Two hundred dollars was given when he came to give the estimate. Now the balance due is $ 1.800 dollars due on delivery. The date of del scheduled for Sept 3rd 2014. On August 28th I called Sam to ask how things were moving along and to remind him that I will be in Florida an the 2nd of Sept and I will expecting delivery of my furniture. He said " I AM RUNNING LATE DELIVERY WILL BE ON THE 4th or THE 5th OF SEPT" On the 6th I called SAM to ask what was going on that I will be leaving Florida on the 10th of Sept and what are my chances HE SAID THE TRUCK HAD TWO FLAT TIRES ON THE TURNPIKE AND HE CANNOT GET THEM FIXED AND HE HAD FOR ANOTHER DRIVER TO COME FROM TEXAS. I left Florida on the 10th of September leaving my sister in Charge with the paper work and $1.800 dollars CASH for Sam. A Driver appeared ALONE in Winter Springs FLA @ 6:30PM 9/12/14 with NO HELPers Wanting the CASH before delivery telling my sister it was the policy. I called SAM explained the situation he is yelling telling me it is the driver'S responsility to find people to help him unload the TRUCK. Now it is 9PM We found two local people to help him unload. 10PM he is unable to put the beds and the rest of the furniture together the Neighbor called the Police because of the Noise. My sister paid him the $1.800 dollars balance paid in full and the work is not completed. This was a terrible Experience with this Co who has an A+ rating from your bureau. I did my homework before hiring him.Desired Settlement: I want $500. dollars refund from BIG SAM to hire people to put my furniture together and for the aggravations he put me thru. The pain of having to sleep on the floor for days waiting for him to bring my furniture. The embarasment in the new neighborhood

Sam knows that he is not telling the truth my furniture was promised for Sept 3rd and I have it on paper. He needs to send the 300. dollars. What kind of a company that the customer must find their own people to unload a truck after $ 4000. 00 dollars have been paid in cash. NEVER AGAIN. The person who recommended him is highly embarrassed.
