Never use this company!
We used Blu Sky Restoration after a tree fell on our house during a storm last June. After months of messing around they finally started the job. They did part of the job that was originally quoted and filed with the insurance company and said they were finished. After weeks or back and forth they came back and did some more work, and finally months later they came back and did some more. The last time they came THEY said they were finished and wanted us to sign the agreement which we did not. they sent us an invoice we started paying, we have paid the full amount they we received from the insurance company but they continue to harass us for more money. We have as for an explanation to which we can't get anything but more harassment and cursed at! they are now threating us with liens and collection agencies to which we have just ask for a reason why we owe more. CHRIS KEARNS has cussed my husband out in text messaged out on more than one occasion. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY!

I am rejecting this response because:Please be advised that the carpet was measured by Disaster One I have attached a series of text messages between John Q [redacted] at Disaster One and my husband, [redacted] starting the first week of May 2017, clearly showing Disaster One measured the bedroom for the carpet It also shows they ordered brown carpet instead of white carpet requested by my husband and me My husband was never, ever a no-show to meet MrQ [redacted] at the home nor a no-show for any of the contractors There was never a request for us to put a lock box on the home to allow them freedom to enter the home without our presence nor would that have been agreed to if it had been requested No contractors or any other personnel from Disaster One were ever allowed in the home without either my husband or my presence My husband did not take MrQ [redacted] to [redacted] stores, only to one [redacted] store at Hanes Mall Blvd in Winston Salem There are not even stores in Winston-Salem, just to clarify that issue I have a long series of all text messages dating back from March 8, to June 1, if you need to review the entire text transcriptI want to file the highest and most formal complaint against Disaster One at this timeI am requesting reimbursement for all work performed, as it is obvious that we will need to retain another contractor to complete the paint and carpet of the master bedroom I a requesting reimbursement of all work done, as we need to repair what was incorrectly performed I am requesting monies to order and pay to deliver and install the correct size and color of carpet from another contractor, due to negligence on the part of Disaster One I am requesting reimbursement of mileage, days lost from work and also numerous unnecessary expenses required to pay for my parent's home that would have been already sold many months ago if not for the negligence of Disaster One, to include HOA fees, utilities, taxes, maintenance, etc

Disaster One's VP of Operations, MrE***, has spent considerable time working with Mr [redacted] throughout this jobAll punch list and additional work requests were completedA certificate of completion was received from all tenants/owners and all the inspections required by the city were passed. This is the first communication we have received from Mr [redacted] in over months - now requesting additional upgrades and work. This is consistent with the process throughout the engagementMr [redacted] is welcome to reach out to MrE [redacted] again, but all work was completed, inspections passed and the job is considered closed outside of valid warranty claims

Initial Business Response / [redacted] (1000, 5, 2016/05/11) */ Mr [redacted] was advised on multiple occasions that the roof is aged and requires replacementBased on its current condition there will likely continue to be leaks and issues The loss was reported to us 11/24/and was completed 12/16/ with some weather related delaysWe did revisit on two occasions without charging additional fees to inspect & patch other leak spots in the roof as a courtesyIt was also determined that there appears to be a squirrel causing damage in the attic/ to the roof with claw marks noted on the sheathing While we do sympathize with Mr***'s situation - unfortunately roofs have a finite life and his is in need of replacementWe cannot speak to the matter of insurance coverage other than to say that this appears to be an issue based on age of the roofI recommend Mr [redacted] contact his agent and have them do a roof inspection so he can get the information he needs in order to make a decision on how to proceed with the roof replacement Initial Consumer Rebuttal / [redacted] (3000, 7, 2016/05/13) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Because they hire about the whole situation all that damage should have been noticed during the initial inspection and the refusal to send a manager out to make sure the work was done properly Final Business Response / [redacted] (4000, 9, 2016/05/19) */ Based on the customer's response follow-up, I believe there is confusion regarding what we were hired and paid to doWe completed repairs on a specific section of the roof only as is evidenced by the price The condition of the roof was noticed, and the customer was advised that it is aged and appears to require replacement due to the finite life of a roofUnfortunately we understand that this is not something that one would like to hear, but it is the case nonethelessI recommend getting quotes and recommendations from three roofers to confirm it is time for replacement and also to determine a good price Final Consumer Response / [redacted] (4200, 11, 2016/05/25) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) The damage was there when they first checked it and said nothing about the other damage if all the damage had been reported to me I could have made a decision to replace the whole roof since fixing the hole was a temporary fix so the $I paid was a waste of time they were more concerned with dealing with the insurance company instead of me

Disaster One, Inccompleted work resulting from the walk-through process, addressed resulting punch work, and the owners of the units are satisfiedThe units also passed city inspection, thus holding off on paying anyd requesting a(at our expense) yet another independent inspection is not
reasonableThis matter has been elevated to the executive level, and after discussion with the party filing the complaint, it appears to be a simple case of not wanting to pay the balance owedAs such it is being addressed as an unpaid balance

While the pipe and window issue were addressed this week we haven't had any weather that would allow us to test the repairs. that being said I believe these will fix the issue and those issues should be repaired. The reason for the Revdex.com complaint was to address these issues but ultimately I want them to honor the warranty that they provided me. This was a year warranty that was the largest deciding factor when I decided to use Disaster over the other companies who bid for the job. I would ask that you keep this complaint open so any further refusals to fix warranty issues can be addressed quickly. I have had to spend dozens of hours trying to get them to complete work. Multiple Revdex.com claims, complaints to the NC Licensing Board for General Contractors and the NC Attorney General

I am rejecting this response because:
I have dozens of emails since the last Revdex.com claim and nothing has been done. Disaster has requested several meetings which we have attended and none of the work they have suggested has been done. Weep holes on are still covered, window on is still out of level and allowing water into the unit. The Window issue was never resolved and the pipe issue has yet to be addressed. The window is not working properly and should be repaired under warranty and has not been

I am rejecting this response because: There are problems with the other units similar to the problems uncovered by the home inspection on #*** For example the bathtub is *** has the same problem as the one in *** *** is having the same electrical issues as *** It is possible for the city inspectors to miss something during the inspection the city missed the issue in *** and its possible they missed the issue on *** and *** The city doesn't inspect some of the issues uncovered by the inspector For example the contractor did not get the porch inspected on *** there were structural supports that were not attached to the ground at all The city doesn't inspect anti-tip brackets on the stove, and Disaster didn't catch the mistake either the city doesn't inspect shingle installation There are multiple issues with the roof already So if it is possible for the city inspector to miss mistakes and Disaster did not catch them either how is it possible to expect a home owner, with no construction knowledge, to catch so of these mistakes This is why we want a professional inspector to check on the other work performed Disaster says they have satisfied the homeowners and city Disaster have passed the inspections they ordered from the city Disaster says the have signed releases from the homeowners, which they possibly do BUT THE HOA IS THE CUSTOMER The HOA'S insurance policy was responsible for the damage The HOA owns the insurance policy, not the city or the individual homeowner I signed, on behalf of the HOA board, all the contracts, documents, and released all payments All payments, except final payments, were sent promptly and after the first request by Disaster The HOA needs to be satisfied with the work performed as well as the city and homeownersDisaster asked for final payment in Summer and October that I did not authorize payment for because the work wasn't complete to the HOA boards satisfaction Disaster did a punch list then and completed work on a porch that was not complete yet WHY IS THIS TIME DIFFERENT????? I have been the contact on this for years During that time I have asked for work to be performed and they did it, eventually This was a $300,job if I simply didn't want to pay the bill I would have kept much more that $

This is is in regard to the complaint about the workmanship and scratched floors.
It was never determined who scratched the...

floors but we did replace some areas that had scratches to try to appease the customer. The homeowner refused to assist us in working with their mortgage company to facilitate any payment for work done. Once we did not receive any money from the homeowner we stopped all work on the project.
We completed an estimate for work done up to the point of work stoppage and presented that to the homeowner. The homeowner requested for us to drop off various materials so they could finish the project on their own. This was done on 9/23/2015. The homeowner has been uncooperative and as of 3-18-2016 we still have not received any payment. We do have insurance checks made payable to D1 and the mortgage company but the homeowner has refused to assist us in getting the mortgage paperwork completed.

Final Business Response /* (4000, 16, 2016/04/06) */
As stated in our last response there is still a balance of $23509.00 for the work that was completed by Disaster One. The customer has been unwilling to work with us in getting the payment processed and the mortgage paperwork signed. We would be willing to work with the customer to clear up any payment questions or concerns but as of 4-6-2016 the customer has not been interested in working with Disaster One to move forward on payment.

Mr. [redacted] was advised on multiple occasions that the roof is aged and requires replacement. Based on its current condition there will likely continue to be leaks and issues.
The loss was reported to us 11/24/15 and was completed 12/16/15...

with some weather related delays. We did revisit on two occasions without charging additional fees to inspect & patch other leak spots in the roof as a courtesy. It was also determined that there appears to be a squirrel causing damage in the attic/ to the roof with claw marks noted on the sheathing.
While we do sympathize with Mr. [redacted]'s situation - unfortunately roofs have a finite life and his is in need of replacement. We cannot speak to the matter of insurance coverage other than to say that this appears to be an issue based on age of the roof. I recommend Mr. [redacted] contact his agent and have them do a roof inspection so he can get the information he needs in order to make a decision on how to proceed with the roof replacement.

Based on the customer's response follow-up, I believe there is confusion regarding what we were hired and paid to do. We completed repairs on a specific section of the roof only as is evidenced by the price.
The condition of the roof was noticed, and the customer was advised that it is aged and appears to require replacement due to the finite life of a roof. Unfortunately we understand that this is not something that one would like to hear, but it is the case nonetheless. I recommend getting quotes and recommendations from three roofers to confirm it is time for replacement and also to determine a good price.

The damage was there when they first checked it and said nothing about the other damage if all the damage had been reported to me I could have made a decision to replace the whole roof since fixing the hole was a temporary fix so the $496.00 I paid was a waste of time they were more concerned with dealing with the insurance company instead of me

Thank you for providing us with this information. This is the first we have heard of these concerns. Unfortunately the facts in the complaint differ from our recollection of events. Firstly Mr. [redacted] refused to lock-box the property - not showing up multiple times for scheduled meetings to address...

the work to be done. This caused unnecessary delays and also limited the ability to access the residence in a timely manner. Our PM (John) went to [redacted] and send multiple carpet selections via text for a selection - from which Mr. [redacted] and his wife made a selection. When the carpet installer unrolled the carpet the color was as selected - the customer simply advised that they had changed their mind and upon seeing it no longer likes the carpet color they had selected. There was no issue with incorrect colored carpet being provided. John and our installers proceeded to follow Mr. [redacted] to no less than 4 [redacted] locations before he finally advised he did not find a carpet he likes and that his wife would pick some out later. Note as well that the measurements were from details provided by a 3rd party - and Mr. [redacted] refused access to our PM when he asked to take measurements himself. Ultimately when Mr. [redacted]'s carpet order came in it was determined to be the incorrect measurements. Given Mr. [redacted]'s desire for timely completion we again ask that he secure the residence with a lock-box to facilitate this.

Thank you for providing the additional information regarding your concerns. We have relayed this to our VP of operations who will review the file, discuss with the project manager and give you a call to discuss and resolve by EOD tomorrow latest. He will likely call you later today.
