Boat N RV Megastore Reviews (25)

I reject the proposal from the BOAT-N-RV Megastore for all of the following reasons:The store has proven to be deceptive and unreliable with a long history of broken promises, poor performance and workmanship, not dealing in good faith and apathy toward the problems they caused. On April 8th, the dealer was sent pictures of the damage to the bottom of the boat together with an explanation of the problems found We agreed that Boat-N-RV would pick up my boat on Friday, April 10thI left the boat open and a key at the [redacted] ***rI received a call from [redacted] (dealer’s Service Manager) on Saturday (4/11) indicating the boat was not picked up because he had not read his boss’s email on time and didn’t know that he was to pick up the boat.We then agreed that he would have the boat picked up on Monday (4/13) but when I called him on Wednesday to see if I could come to the shop to discuss repair options, Rick indicated that he had not picked up the boat because the dealership had no pontoon boat trailers “on his lot” that he could use.I subsequently discovered that the dealer was showing boats at the [redacted] show that week and since they were showing [redacted] Pontoon Boats, I presumed that all the trailers were at the showNow, [redacted] is only hours awayIf the dealer had an interest in meeting my repair needs, he would have had someone at the show bring a trailer to my marina, pick up the boat, deliver it to the dealer lot and return the trailer to [redacted] Maybe hours in total, but it would have achieved an important goal – a timely repair jobI wrote to the manager indicating the urgency of my request “I started this process in early January so that everything would be ready when the weather broke and would appreciate a rapid response.” His response on 4/8: “I understand mr audit (sic), we will get it taken care of and picked up.”I afforded the dealer days in which to pick up my boat from my marinaFrom 4/10/to 4/17/it was available to themIf you can’t pick up a boat in days, how much time do you need? Especially since I informed the dealer that I was in a hurry to get it back in the ***rI had started the boat buying process in January so that I would have a boat to use at the start of the boating season (which for me is 4/15).After days of waiting I sent the following letter to the manager:“Due to your many broken promises and poor quality workmanship, I cannot trust you to repair my boat in a safe and satisfactory mannerTo this end, I have contracted with [redacted] to repair the damage to the bottom of my boat that you have caused, to install the zinc anodes that are missing from the bottom, replace the motor zinc that failed prematurely and to troubleshoot the motor mounting and possible voltage leaking problemI have attached their estimate for the services to be rendered and ask that you pay them directly so that I am not out-of-pocket on this matterConsidering the time frame of this situation, I would expect you to pay them no later than Friday, May 1, Marine Tech will be picking up my boat on Thursday, April 23, to transport same to their facilityIf you so desire (or care) you may inspect the boat in their yard on Monday, April 27, between the hours of 10:am and 3:pm on that day, and that day onlyThey can be reached at ###-###-#### to schedule a time to be there I truly hope that with the difficult buying experience that you provided to me, coupled with your complete disregard for the problems that you have caused, might encourage you to do the right thing hereI do hope so, because I would like very much to resolve this amicably.”At the time that the dealer looked at my boat (April 27th), my boat was already at the repair shop awaiting repairs (as noted in the first paragraph of my letter)The dealer was aware that I was having the boat repaired at another establishmentAt that time, (repair work had not yet started on the boat) it would have been prudent for them to contact me to offer to repair my boat but they chose to ignore the situation againThey know that the boat has already been repaired by [redacted] so their offer to repair it is a moot one.I, too, contacted the paint supplierI had asked the dealer to save me the empty paint cans so I could match the paint in the future, but of course that request went unheeded like so many othersI did have the name of the paint manufacturer ( [redacted] ***r Marine) but without the actual product number used, the conversation yielded only the hint that perhaps the dealer used the wrong paint for the areaWith all of the flaking and pealing it is also possible that the dealer failed to apply a primer firstI have saved some paint chips to send to a testing lab in PA if necessary. To demonstrate additional poor quality workmanship, the outboard motor was not mounted properly and was in jeopardy of falling off the boat [redacted] corrected that problemAlso, I bought and paid $ for the dealer to mount zinc anodes on the boat bottomWere they ever installed? We don’t know but there was no empty screw holesWhen we pulled the boat they were not thereIn addition, all of the wires and cables leading from the boat to the motor were draped in the salt***r, not a good thingThe motor zinc has failed prematurely and at this point cannot be explainedPerhaps the dealer removed the new zinc to sell to someone else and replaced it with something from the shop floor? We will never know. So, requesting immediate relief on April 8th produced the offer to repair on May 6th after they already knew that I had had the boat repairedThey offered to repair only after receiving my complaint through youOn the plus side, it does appear that they have accepted responsibility for the damage.I do not want this dealer anywhere near my boat; they have caused enough damage and cannot be trusted. My final repair bill from [redacted] came to $3, plus the $I paid to have the boat inspected bringing the total due me $3,The only acceptable solution is to reimburse me promptly Regards, [redacted] ***

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response [redacted] If no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved] Complaint: I am rejecting this response because: n very brief summary, this is why Boat-n-RV has not made a "good faith" to resolve this complaint and why I do not want it closed [redacted] Boat-n-RV did the following:[redacted] Grossly misrepresented the history and condition of the Winnebago RV they sold us*[redacted] Represented that it had " - - -passed our extensive point inspection and is 'ready for the road*' "[redacted] Repeatedly delayed the agreed delivery dates claiming, falsely, that they couldn't get parts, technicians were out, wrong parts were sent, etc*[redacted] Agreed before and after signing of the sales contract that all systems and components would be working correctly upon delivery of the vehicle [redacted] As you can readily see from the extensive list of problems I furnished in my complaint (all of which existed upon delivery), this didn't happen [redacted] After we got the RV home, we found that it was in such bad shape that we didn't feel comfortable even driving it to a repair shop, much less doing the cross-country trip we'd planned [redacted] We've been able to put a grand total of miles on it in months*[redacted] Repeatedly ignored every one of our attempts to resolve the situation [redacted] The people who could help us were always said to be out, ill, had left the company, would call us back, etc*, etc [redacted] Nobody ever contacted us*[redacted] Ignored all of our countless phone calls and emails as we attempted to get assistance - including two certified letters, for which Mr [redacted] Philactos and Mr [redacted] Shields signed* Falsely represented that the RV had "zero delamination in the sidewalls and roof*" We found that there was extensive, and expensive, delamination [redacted] Without telling the Boat-n-RV technicians in the Ridgeland, SC store that we had bought the RV there, we had them evaluate the delamination and give us a repair estimate [redacted] Their comment was that the RV wasn't worth repairing, because it would cost $12,- $15,just to repair that problem - not counting the others*[redacted] Unilaterally changed the sales contract without our knowledge or consent and jacked up the price by over $- then refused to deliver the RV unless we paid the additional amount*[redacted] Caused us to lose all this time that we had planned to use traveling - and nearly $5,out-of-pocket expenses and nearly hours of my personal time [redacted] (As a retired management consultant, I'm in the habit of documenting the time I spend on projects*)[redacted] They collected license tag fees from us, but never sent them to our county DMV after three requests [redacted] We had to again pay the fees to get our tags [redacted] They charged us nearly $for "documentation fees" and did nothing for this fee [redacted] In fact, we wound up doing most of the documentation work*My analysis - being very generous - is that Boat-n-RV has violated over half of Revdex.com's business standards, they refuse to acknowledge the problems, and they refuse to take even the smallest amount of responsibility for delivering a defective and dangerous RV*I'm now nearly 81, and my wife will soon turn [redacted] And both of us are now experiencing significant health problems that will likely prevent us from using the RV as planned - even if we ever get all the problems corrected*Boat-n-RV has not addressed a single issue we've raised, claiming that we shouldn't accept what their salesmen say, that we accepted the RV "as-is," and that it's basically our problem [redacted] The "as-is" meant as they told us it was, because this is the first RV we've ever bought and had no basis for evaluating it - which Boat-n-RV did have [redacted] Also, after the contract was signed, we were again told by the salesman and shop managerthat all systems and components would be working properly upon delivery [redacted] So the contractual "as-is" no longer applied*The basic question for Boat-n-RV is this: Are they going to do what they claim is legal - or are they going to operate by accepted ethical business standards and do what's right? What's especially interesting is that, while we've been trying to get a meaningful response from Boat-n-RV, their Revdex.com rating has somehow improved from A- to A, despite numerous complaints and a negative review which essentially duplicates part of our experience*My position is this: Boat-n-RV needs to make us a reasonable settlement offer - promptly [redacted] I fail to see how this case can possibly be marked "closed": because of "good faith" on Boat-n-RV's part [redacted] If they refuse to work with us, we will proceed with every legal means at our disposal to see that as many people as possible understand that they cannot accept at face value any comments made by Boat-n-RV's staff - and that they should not expect any help when things go wrong*If Boat-n-RV continues to evade working with us, please advise the complete procedure for documenting our experience in detail on Revdex.com's website [redacted] I look forward to your comments Again, I sincerely appreciate your efforts to assist us*Sincerely, [redacted] Regards, [redacted]

I finalized and picked up a camping trailer from Boat N Rv, the day after Thanksgiving My bill of sale, all email and text correspondence stated that I was purchasing a ft trailerI believed the salesman when he told me the sameWhen I returned home nearly hours away, I was trying to find information on the trailer when to my shocking surprise, I discovered a plate on the side which state that the trailer was not ft as I was told and as the sales agreement stated, but was instead ftI felt mislead and targeted as a military member without prior camper experiencesI had no idea that this would lead to further issuesIt is now March I still do not have the registration or plates that the sales agreement stated I would be sentI call the dealership, I'm transferred or placed on holdSubsequently, if I am fortunate enough to get a voice mail left, no one returns my callsI was sent a second temporary plate, however this one is now expired as was the first

WE were charged to winterize the RV The process was never done We were also charged for putting a product on the outside of the RV and inside of the RV that was never done As of today, I have over phone calls to the store, the General Manager JW and to the corporate office It took over a week for the corporate office to get JW to respond to the fact that the ECO product was never done and issue a check to the loan company to repay that amount that they had stolen JW will not respond to any of our phone calls and will not respond to the corporate office about the winterizing We had a technician look at the RV and told us that the process was never done

Boat-N-RV has inspected this customer's boat in the last ten (10) daysSince the inspection, we have been in contact with the manufacturer of the underbelly paint which was applied to this boat, as well as the boat's manufacturer seeking input as to a possible cause of the sudden corrosionThe
manufacturer's owner has never encountered the problemNotwithstanding the foregoing, Boat-N-RV is willing to retrieve the boat in question and perform any necessary repairs at our Ridgeland facility

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: Everyone involved with the business knew from the beginning that we would be living in the RV until our house was ready. They were not to put antifreeze in the unit, they were to make the unit insulated for winter climates as we were moving to PA. They charges us extra to winterize the unit ($350.00). Why would they charge $just to put in antifreeze????????? They also did not check the unit over as they told us they would and put everything into working order. The first time we turned on the AC unit in the bedroom, the unit had a burning smell. I contacted the company as soon as it happened. I had to pay for someone to come out and replace the unit. This is only one of MANY MANY lies this company has told to us and to everyone else. Did anyone explain why I was told that the ECO System was applied to the unit by two different employees only to be told later that it was never applied? We have had so many problems with this unit and the ignorance of the company. And to let you know, the only reason the money for the money was refunded from the ECO System was because after some phone calls I called the corporate store. It took an additional weeks for someone to get the General Manager off lying backend and finally get a check out to the loan company for that. I would like to have the winterization completed as they told us it would be, not antifreeze dumped in it. I have already sent the technicians invoice to corporate store for the process to be done. If they are going to lie about that, then I should have the money refunded that they charged us extra for this. Thank you

General Manager
BoatNRV
Ridgeland, SC
JW and others,
Listed below is a summary of our interactions with BoatNRV thus far while attempting to buy a new boat from your company
August
On our return from a camping trip to Hilton Head Island, we stopped at BoatNRV to look at the selection of new boatsWe were interested in trading our camper and boat on a new boatWe were interested in doing business with BoatNRV due to the fact they are one of the only places to trade both a camper and a boat on a new boatWe did not buy that day, but were very impressed with the look of the RazorWe were not ready to do the trade at that time due to football season and tailgating for one more season
November
We continued talking over the fall about purchasing a new boat and considering all of our optionsWhen the football tailgating season ended we were ready to move forward, and believed that BoatNRV was our best optionWe we

Our customer purchased a 16 year old motor home in October 2013. A copy of our customer's purchase agreement from October 2013 is attached to this response. [redacted] purchase was based upon Boat-N-RV's numerous written disclosures that the vehicle was being tendered "as-is," with no warranty,...

either express of implied. [redacted] inspected the vehicle, negotiated his purchase, and delivery of the unit was delayed on several occasionswhile Boat-N-RV performed certain work requested by our customer during the sales process, including the replacement of all of the vehicles' tires. The work that Boat-N-RV agreed to perform prior to delivery was outlined in writing by the parties (see attached). Most of the items complained of by our customer do not appear anywhere in the scope of work agreed to by the Parties. These items were performed as shown in the service tickets (also attached). [redacted] accepted Boat-N-RV's tender of delivery on or about October 25, 2013, having taken ample time to review and inspect the vehicle and subsequent work during the sales process. [redacted] was fully aware that he was purchasing an aged unit. Quite simply, there is no amount of work that any dealership can put in to make a 16 year old motor home (now 18 year old motor home) operate like a new vehicle. As vehicles age, they depreciate and become less reliable. Repairs performed to a 16 year old system, such as an air conditioning system, may work for a time, only to fail later. Sometimes fixing items on aged motor homes will give rise to the discovery of other issues. Further, de-lamination is visible to the naked eye and not possible to conceal. Our inventory pictures for this unit are still available, although I was unable to append them to this message due to the limit of 4 files.
