I have used Budget for decades. I made the reservation online through Budget.com, not one of the intermediary web entities. But this was not a good experience.

Costs were consistently higher than initially stated. The estimate was $155, but the "fees" raised the cost to $255. The mileage was contracted at $0.67/mile, but charged at $0.75/mile. There was an amazing "estimated miles" at 455 miles, doubling the rental charge to over $600.

Counter staff kept up a about Budget insurance and how wonderful it was, but I didn't want added insurance fees. I had a hard time explaining that my auto insurance included rentals, and I did not want added fees. It was never clear because their English would deteriorate substantially when I asked a question.
I felt trapped in the undesirable policy and higher fees, because the counter staff claimed they did not have the ability to cancel it and set up a new rental. Only "Customer Service" could do so.

The difference between what appeared to be a simple on-line payment and reservation with the complex multi-language confusion and unanswered questions at the counter is not something I wish to repeat or inflict on others.
