Contacted Cardinal after hail damage to our roof and signed the contract end of October. We were told our new roof would be installed in about 2 weeks. After 2 weeks we never heard anything, no calls, no date, nothing. Then we got our first excuse. It will be a little longer than they thought, so another 2 weeks but it will be in by Thanksgiving we were told

We again got no phone calls for over 2 weeks. We should have told them we want out, but we were assured they would get it done. Then another excuse and another excuse. Mind you, they never call. Finally we said we need the roof or we will void the contract. Then Tim assures us a roof by Christmas.

On Dec 24 they come to put on the roof and after tearing off the roof they tell us that they don't have all the materials and that they would have to tarp it. Mind you this is right before the 5 days of rain and flooding St louis had. The roof they put on only covered the edges because they were shy over 1/2 the materials and the supply house was closed, after all its Christmas I was told. Why they took of the old roof off without all the materials is beyond me, I asked the roofer, did you know there wasn't enough materials and he said yes. Then they also tell me they still have to order the skylights. They have had our contract since October and now its 2 months later.

The tarp hung off the roof over the gutters and with all the heavy rain because the water didn't go into the gutter, the basement leaked. I had just had hand surgery and my husband had to go to Pittsburgh because his mother had a stroke and here I am trying to dig a trench to keep the water away from the foundation by myself because of the way the tarp was on. Stiches in hand and no help from Cardinal, Its raining, we can’t come out now.

Then about 3 weeks later they came and put on the rest of the roof, not the skylights but just the roof. I had to ask them about the ridge vent, they were going to leave off the ridge vent even though our old roof had one, and it was part of the contract to keep it. They would have left it off if I didn’t said something.

We told them that we didn't want the gutter guards reinstalled but they insisted on putting them back on. Tim told me they have extras form other jobs so its no extra charge, however they billed my insurance company for over $1400.00 for plastic gutter guards for a small house of only 1000 sq ft.

I kept asking when we were getting the skylights and they told me they would pay for them because of the inconvenience. Tim even told me and signed the contract, Replace 3 skylights at no cost to customer. He sighed it. However they billed the insurance company for that too,. So dishonest. I kept calling and the skylights when they were going to install them and that didn’t happen for another 2 weeks.

When they did the roof on Christmas eve day, they said 2 weeks, they were custom, however they never called to tell me they were going to take longer. They could have picked up the phone, but there is no customer service at all. Tim who has NO experience told me he was going to install the skylights and I told him no way, only the experienced roofer will be allowed to do that, He has screwed up enough. They installed the skylights on Feb 3rd. Mind you this has been going on since October. The next day the owner calls for the rest of his money. I gave him the check and I asked when will I get my release and warrantee. He told me as soon as the check clears, he will bring it by himself. 4 days later the check cleared and I had to call repeatedly to ask for my release and warrantee. I didn’t get that till March.

The original bill was for $9400.00 after my deductible. By the time the billed my insurance company twice for stuff they didn’t do, they ended up with over $13000.00. I had over 4 months of headaches dealing with Tim and the owner. Do not use them if you want a professional job.

Now the roof is bumped up all over, it’s a rolled roof and is supposed to be flat, however there are raised places all over it. I called to ask and they told me to wait for the hot weather. What am I supposed to do till then with the rain?

Worthless is all I can say. the customer service is lacking on everyone except the office manager. Multiple excuses and today I receive a letter from the asking for a review. Well here you go. Be advised, I toned this down, in reality it was much worse

The Cardinal Roofing team did an excellent job on my new roof. They made an insurance claim painless to deal with. I would recommend Cardinal Roofing to anyone that has any roofing needs.

Excellent and professional. I met the owner and was impressed with his kindness and professionalism. He spoke with both my husband and me. Work was completed better than expected. Down to earth yet very respectful and professional.

Good craftsmanship by installers. They removed all debri and used a magnetic to pick up any nails so that we won't have any flats or trouble with the lawn mower slinging these. The owner (Jody) and his associates (Mary Elizabeth) were truthful and friendly. It's a pleasure to do business with Cardinal Roofing. Very pleased!!!

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2014/11/13) */
He did reach out to me on March 7, 2014 for possible wind damage to his roof. I did inspect his roof and spoke with him letting him know he had shingles that had been blown off his roof and he did have enough wind damage to his roof that...

his insurance company should cover the loss. He should have told me at this point that he had a previous claim on his roof and had not had the roof repaired. I told him that we could install a tarp to prevent further damage to the plywood and the interior of his home until he could contact his insurance company and get an appointment for them to come inspect his roof. I also told him that his insurance company should also cover the cost of the installation of the tarp. He said that would be great and he would contact his insurance company. He never said anything about still taking bids from other companies. If he was getting other bids why would he give me all the information on his insurance company including his claim number. I called him several times to see if the insurance company had made an appointment to come out and look at his roof so I could be there to meet with them on his behalf. When I finally reached him he said his insurance company said they wouldn't cover the damage and he had filed a complaint with the State of Missouri and was waiting to hear back from them. I have tried to call him several times since then. I have left messages and never got a response from him. I called him again on Monday November 3, 2014 and left another message wanting to know how things were going. He called me back and said the insurance company wouldn't cover his roof, the complaint he had filed with the State of Missouri sided with the insurance company and he already had someone else take care his roof. I told him I was going to bill him for the installation of the tarp. He told me I could have my tarp back if I wanted it. I told him I need to be paid for the installation of the tarp and the materials needed to install it. He said he was not going to pay me because he never filed a claim so the insurance company didn't pay him. I told him I had his insurance information including the claim number that he had given me when I installed the tarp and I would call them. Upon speaking to the insurance company I found out why they wouldn't pay for his roof. He did have a previous claim that was already paid to him. If you file a claim for your roof with your insurance company and don't make the repairs you were paid to make, they will not pay another claim for your roof until the original damages are taken care of. The insurance company won't let you just pocket the money and not take care of the repair. According to his insurance company He had already received money to repair his roof but never did have it repaired. The insurance company also told me that he was paid for the tarp I had installed so I should have already been paid.
He said in his complaint that he wanted to make sure people know how our company acted and that our service was not good. I called him asking how things were going and asked for payment for services rendered. We have waited several months for payment. If our service was not good he would have complained that the tarp came off or leaked since that was the only service he received from us. The price of the tarp itself was more than $25.
Desired Settlement
For him to pay us what we are owed, since the insurance company did pay him. Then he would never hear from us again.
