I do not consider contact name contact phone number
and contact email as a RESPONSE. Comment, "see attached response" when there is no attachment is
inadequate. As stated in my complaint I call and never get a reply. The document I signed acknowledged job completion not satisfaction. The inspector and salesman witnessed and photographed the unacceptable work and for the last 8 months have assured me legal proceedings are underway against the bonded installers or material suppliers. When I ask for legal information I receive nothing. I will once again try calling the
Carpet One Floor and Home president.

Carpet One Floor & Home Response • Jul 17, 2020

Attached documentation states how we completed the job professionally and properly to the consumer's satisfaction originally but now even months later we are still working with our legal counsel to press the insurance company for additional monetary compensation since the customer wants to switch to a different floor. The attached letters continue to document the extraordinary measures we are going to and will communicate when further progress or information is available.

I consider over 800 instances of uneven tiles unacceptable. This was documented by Carpet One inspectors along with statement that total demolishment is needed. I patiently wait for any resolution that Carpet One can provide. Until there is some kind of resolution, request this case remain open and public.

We purchased flooring for our home and had an amazing experience. Very knowledgeable staff that answered all my questions regarding the products. The installation went very well and my floors are beautiful. Highly recommend them and would definitely use them again.

We were sold indoor/outdoor carpet and told it would resist mold and mildew. No special cleaning instructions were given to us at the time of purchase. The carpet, after one year is a mess even though we cleaned it regularly including my wife being on her hands and knees with a scrub brush. When contacted Carpet One did nothing to solve the problem or offer a comprise solution. All we wanted was the carpet we were promised. Mr G did nothing but berate us for "not properly caring for the carpet".

Buy from these guys if you must but be aware they do not stand behind their product or offer reasonable solutions.

Most unprofessional.

Our experience was absolutely horrendous! If I could leave ZERO stars I would. They are absolutely the worst at customer services and their workmanship was a joke. Our job had to be completely torn our and redone more than once and it was never completed up to acceptable standard. We even had to hire an approved independent flooring inspector to come into our home. They have since refused to correct the issues and are demanding payment after leaving our home in complete chaos. Their ownership is completely unethical and lacks any sense of empathy or professionalism. I would not recommend to any one looking for quality flooring contractors!

In October 2018 I hired Carpet One to install vinyl plank flooring in most of my home. The problem is with the people they hired to install the flooring. They did a sloppy, poor job. When removing the tile in the front hall, they did not protect my walls and woodwork, resulting in gouged walls, chipped paint and drywall damage. There are numerous gouges and paint chips throughout my house due to them moving my furniture. They also broke the large glass top on my dresser in the master bedroom, where they installed carpeting. There is still a loose transition strip that is not glued down properly, and keeps coming up. They attempted to repair damage in the front hall, but did a very poor job with paint that does not match and a poor drywall repair attempt. I now have to paint my entire house. I have contacted the store and they said they would try to "do something"...I have heard nothing further...still waiting for some kind of response. I would not recommend Carpet One.

Desired Outcome

Billing Adjustment Since I now have to paint my entire house, I believe they owe me at least a portion of that expense.

Carol *** Revdex.com case #90227265

Ms. is a repeat customer and I was quite surprised to have not heard from her directly but see this post on the Revdex.com. Our operations manager, Diana, immediately reached out to Ms. and was able to finally connect with her and discuss her concerns. The only legitimate issue was a transition molding that was loose, and we have already sent our quality control technician and resolved that issue. In reference to the broken dresser glass that was immediately brought to Ms. attention and our installation technician provided $80 cash for the item which cost $68 at Lowes. In reference to the marks on the wall form tile removal they were also immediately brought to attention and the installation mechanic retextured the wall and bought matching paint and repainted the areas to Ms. satisfaction at the completion of the installation. Ms. was very agreeable to the resolution provided for both issues in October when the installation was completed and signed the "completed to satisfaction" form provided. She even came back and bought additional materials to be installed in another space, which was completed 10 days after the first installation. Although Ms. has decided 4 months later to repaint her whole house, we have informed her that we will not be providing compensation for the whole house paint since we had already compensated her in October and resolved the issue to her satisfaction at that time.

I purchased flooring; contractor did not complete the job as promised with removal of barrier strips from two bedrooms into hallway of new home.
I sought the help of Carpet One Floor & Home (The Villages)to match and lay flooring throughout a one story patio villa, inclusive of removal of barrier strips from two bedrooms. Since the original order date 8/30/18, I was assured that Carpet One could do this. Upon completion of the job, two junior technicians said that they could not do this as it was "a liability to their company." This was the first notification that the work that was promised, and agreed to, was not going to be completed. Please note that the very same product that was to be used when removing the barrier strips was successfully laid from kitchen into living room, bathroom into hallway and bathroom into bedroom. To follow Carpet One's line of thinking one would wonder why these other areas were not also a "liability." In addition, the Carpet One employees left the baseboard work in both bathrooms in shoddy condition. Photos were forwarded to the store. Both me and my three daughters were in and out of Carpet One prior to the start of the project -- and all of us heard that the would remove the barrier strips. Carpet One sales staff who visited my home at the end of the project agreed with me -- that to lay the new floor would surely not be problematic. The cost of this project, to date, is $3,720; I have already paid nearly $2,000. I believe that Carpet One needs to honor their arrangement and complete the job as promised. Please note that the project coordinator, Diana, was hostile and unprofessional when I simply questioned why the project was not being completed as promised. I request that the job be completed as discussed; I do not intend on spending any additional money to achieve my finished floor.

Desired Outcome

First, I anticipate that the Carpet One Floor & Home Manager (Mr. Gary G) step in to try and remedy this situation and complete the job. I do not wish to speak to Diana, the clerk. This situation needs to be elevated to the manager level.

To whom it may concern,
Ms. contracted with Carpet One floor & Home to install Karndean Luxury Vinyl Plank in a portion of an existing home which she purchased, which already had Karndean vinyl plank previously installed by another contractor. Ms. also had a general contractor working in the home at the same time doing several other remodeling projects. Thus, our installation technicians were scheduled on multiple days to accomplish the work in conjunction with the other work by general contractor etc. Our professional installation technicians completed the installation of the new Karndean Vinyl plank in the home on October 15, of which Ms. and others were very complimentary of the quality of the work. An additional aspect of the work we were asked to perform was to remove existing T-moldings between vinyl plank in hall and a bedroom. We were successful at eliminating the T-molding at some transitions but at one existing doorway the planks (previously installed by other contractors) did not line up and thus new planks could not be fit into place and fill void where t-molding in threshold was removed. We provided Ms. with numerous options to best address the situation found on site the best of which would have been to 1/4 turn a single vinyl plank and install in the door threshold, which would accomplish the task of eliminating the t molding and also hide the imperfect installation which existed from prior contractor, but Ms. was adamant that was not an option. We also provided several other options such as cutting in new planks to fill the void but cautioned it would look like patch. We also offered a complete refund of the $200 additional labor fee for eliminating all the t-moldings, but she also refused to accept that offer. We also suggested that she buy additional flooring to complete the one bedroom so that the planks would line up appropriately, but she refused to invest the $650 necessary for this solution. Carpet One Floor & Home attempted on numerous occasions to reach an amicable agreement with Ms. through our installation technicians on site, through an additional visit to the home by our sales representative, through calls from our operations manager, conversation in our store with our store manager and finally I personally called Ms. to provide the numerous options for an amicable solution to a pre-existing challenge present with the t-moldings in her home. She was extremely disagreeable and quite determined that she wanted to prove her point that the "customer is always right and should get what they want" and refused to pay the $1684.20 balance due on her account for materials and labor already supplied by Carpet One Floor & Home. I informed her that if she refused to accept one of the many recommended solutions from Carpet One that I would have no other option than to pursue legal collection including filing a lien on the property. She refused and basically told me to go right ahead that I would not be able to do such, and she would only pay $1 month for the rest of her life. It is extremely unfortunate that Carpet One provided materials and labor for this job that were raved about, but yet we have reached an impasse over a single T-mold in a doorway which we did not provide the original installation. This is an extremely minor issue which I offered a complete refund toward and yet I have been forced to pursue further legal action and respond to public criticism and Revdex.com complaints over something that has nothing to do with our work and we are just trying to help the customer. I also am disappointed that Ms. wants to publicly insult our team members by calling the professional installation technicians that she previously raved about as "junior technicians" and call our Operations Manager a "clerk", when she had provided extraordinary customer service for many of our customers for years. Please see attached contracts and pictures illustrating work done and the doorway in question.

Nothing but a great experience from Carpet One! My wife, Cheryl, and I came in and were greeted promptly and kindly by the staff. Rachel walked up and was friendly and knowledgeable about the products and really seemed to care about what my wife wanted. We really appreciated the fact she was not pushy or overbearing but offered great suggestions and we understood what we were looking for. Rachel also introduced us to the owner, Gary, who was really welcoming and it was nice to hear about the story of their CO-OP and we were really happy they offered 0% financing which we took full advantage of. I was really impressed with their free measurement service, other companies wanted to charge me $35-50! Ryan brought the samples to our home, was really polite and prompt with our appointment and answered further questions we had. We were able to place our order with him in the house, even though he offered to have Rachel do so for us back at the store. We received a call a little less than two weeks later from Diana who was another polite member of the staff and we scheduled the install for the following week and they were able to work around our busy schedule of Dr. appointments! The install went perfectly, the guys showed up mid morning, knocked everything out in two days and it looks awesome! Rachel and Dianna both followed up with Cheryl and I to ask how things went and we're so happy with the quality of the work and the staff we can't wait to go back in for a few new area rugs! Carpet One really knocked it out of the part on this one and we could not be more pleased with our experience!

Carpet Installers did not complete job and I have issues which they refuse to repair until I pay the balance.
I contracted with Carpet One to have some carpet installed in one room in my home (Jeremiah L salesman). I paid them half the balance ($1000 credit card) initially to start the job (11/29/2017 - Job #***). They arrived (12/13/2017) and installed the carpet in the room a week after they originally scheduled me and made a huge deal about it, blaming me for their scheduling problems. I wasn't comfortable at that point with their craftsmanship so I withheld payment to make sure the installation was done correctly. A couple days after (12/15/2017) installation the seams where the carpet meets the tile has started to lift so it crunches when you step on it. I feel like this is improper installation and have requested that they come fix the problem before I pay them. They have since threatened me with sending this to collections and also putting a lien on my home. I feel as though this is a very underhanded tactic, considering I am willing to pay them in full if they fix the issues I have. If this is common practice among businesses, it is a very shady thing to do and I just wanted someone to be aware.

Thank you for your time.

Desired Outcome

Come fix the seam issues where the carpet meets the tile.

Carpet One Floor & Home signed a contract with *** on 11/19/17 to provide carpet and installation services in his home. Our installation manager contacted Mr. after receiving the materials for the job and scheduled installation for Wednesday 12/13/17 at his request. The installation was completed to his satisfaction and he signed off on the completion certificate stating that he was pleased with the installation. At this point we have completed our contract with Mr. and the balance was due. Both our contract and the "Get Ready" sheet signed by the customer identify the fact that the COD balance is to be paid upon the completion of the installation to the installation technician who will return to our store. Mr. told our installation technician that he was going to the store to pay the balance with his credit card. When he did not show up the sales representative contacted him and asked him when he would be by to take care of the balance on his account, he replied maybe sometime next week. When contacted the next week about his balance Mr. replied that he did not plan to pay his balance because he said a seam in the carpet was "crunchy". We offered to schedule a time to take care of any installation warranty concerns once his balance was paid. We have documented that the installation was completed and thus the balance past due. Carpet One Floor & Home has the best warranties and guarantees in the industry. On this specific style of carpet we offer a 20 Year Wear and Installation Warranty and also a 90 day "Beautiful Guarantee" that simply states if you don't love your carpet we will replace it (including labor) for FREE. All these warranties and guarantees would be applicable when the carpet is paid for, because at this point we still own the carpet which is in his home. Mr. has berated Carpet One Floor & Home as well as our employees and myself personally on public forums such as our Carpet One Floor & Home's*** and *** reviews. I personally called Mr. to try to resolve the situation amicably and offer to visit the home myself with an installation technician to resolve any issues, but he would not even talk to me and hung up the phone on me. Then immediately went back to posting online. It certainly appears that he would rather complain online in an attempt to get money off his bill than resolve any issue. He has consistently badgered the sales associate for money off his bill and when he was informed that we would pursue collections legally he taunted our sales associate by telling him good luck. Carpet One Floor & Home has a 30-year history of "doing the right thing" and taking care of our customers. We plan to continue that tradition for years to come. I only expect our customers to uphold their portion of the contract and be fair and honest. I do not believe that Ms *** is being fair or honest with the dealings that I have had with him thus far. I have turned over the contract information to our attorney to manage the collection process according to Florida Law.

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The account given by this response is very misleading, unfortunate and ultimately untrue.

The original date of install was 12/09/2017 (Saturday). The store never contacted me and blamed the issue on having the "wrong number", even though the sales associate had been texting and calling me at my number since I paid for the carpet at their store. I had made it extremely clear with the sales associate that I was on a very tight schedule with other contractors and I would need a finite install date, I also had to cancel my clients to be at the home for the install, which costs me money. The sales associate had no problem with this and assured me that the install would take place on 12/09/2017 before I signed the contract.

When I didn't receive any word from the installers or the sales associate, I tried calling but received no response. It wasn't until I received word on 12/11/2017(Monday) that they didn't contact me because they had the wrong number. I simply couldn't accept this excuse because the sales associate had my correct number, they have my email address and my phone number is available publicly, there is no reason for me not to be reached. I asked the sales associate to adjust the invoice for the failure to appear on schedule and I was told that they do not adjust invoices and reminded that I signed a contract so I had no choice. The sales associate even went as far as blaming me for not contacting them and pushing the responsibility on me for the missed appointment.

At this point I have already lost any amount of respect for this company and it's willingness to own up to mistakes and care for its customers. The day of install 12/13/2017, the installers showed up and were very professional and courteous, my complaint was never with them. They did a great job installing the carpet and from what I could tell at the time of install, there were no issues. However, it's not like I examined every square foot of the carpet, I wouldn't even know what to look for. I told the installer that I would be paying with credit card, he tried calling the store to run the card and no one answered the phone. I told him I would just go to the store to pay the balance. This time of year, I work 17 hours a day sometimes and let the sales associate know that I would be by sometime during the week to pay my balance. Over the weekend after install I noticed that the carpet was lifting on the edges/seams where the carpet meets the tile and when you stepped on it, it would crunch. When the sales associate asked me when I was coming to pay, I inquired about the problem and he told me it wouldn't be fixed until I paid my balance. I don't believe that is fair business practice at all and told him I wouldn't pay until it's fixed. This is when they threatened to send it to collections and then later threatened to put a lien on my property.

AFTER all this was said, then the owner (Respondant to this inquiry) contacted me by phone. When I answered the phone he said who he was and I greeted him. He asked me what I would like to do about the situation and I asked him if he read all the correspondence between the sales associate and I. He said he read the correspondence and followed up with "Mr., would you like to do this the easy way or the hard way?", I asked him if he was just calling to threaten me and his response was "I am just asking would you like to do this the easy way or the hard way", at this point I hung up the phone. This is absolutely no way to treat your customers or really anyone. I have absolutely zero problem paying this company if they fix the problem with the installed carpet. I have had over 5 contractors in my house doing work since purchase and I've paid them a lot more money than this carpet company. Some of them had made mistakes and they corrected them immediately BEFORE I paid them the balance, just as a business should.

This has been the most horrible experience with any business I've had do work for me. At this point I've went on social media with my issue and also listed several reviews, who wouldn't? When a company threatens you with legal action because they don't want to fix a problem, that is what you do.

I've attached the full text conversation between the sales associate and I for context on how they talk to their customers and threaten them, instead of fixing the problem. I've also attached a video of the problem with my carpet, the problem the owner has told everyone I am making up so I don't have to pay my balance.

Thank you.

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The owner replying to this complaint wasn't even involved at all with the transaction that took place at the store, for installation, scheduling or anything until my complaints were moved to social media. It was only then that he decided to get involved.

He is most certainly accurate and the salesman told me they wouldn't schedule install until they had the materials. However, the salesman contacted me directly and told me they would install on Saturday. Why in the world would I be expecting someone to come install on a Saturday if no one told me they were going to? Sounds very suspect. You can also read in the text messages that I attached in my last reply that the salesman acknowledged a Saturday install.

That is really not the point of the this complaint though, I am not issuing this complaint because of the missed install. That was just preamble to setup the demeanor for this transaction. I am issuing this complaint because the company is STILL failing to fix the problems with their install and has STILL not tried to fix this issue. All they want to do is play the blame game.

I encourage the owner to upload his audio and video of whatever conversations he has, please. Then you will understand how I was threatened with his contact after I went to social media.
