Clippership Motorhome Rentals Reviews (29)

The customer had a tire that went out on him. A new tire was on the motor home that same day in less then 6 hours as customer drove from Whittier to get the tire changed. The customer was compensated a whole day at (220.00 dollars a day) of rental for the misfortune and upgraded to a newer vehicle...

(700.00 dollars upgrade) at no charge to the customer. Total compensation of $920.00. The customer has not provided any evidence or receipts to suggest 6 hours of lost time has cost 700 dollars. The refund of deposit plus the day was issued back to a the customer's card early August. sincerlyManagement.

We apologize for any inconvenience that Mr. [redacted] experienced during his rental. All due diligence was taken to get Mr. [redacted] on the road as soon as possible. The motor home was taken to a shop immediately after it quit working. The mechanic could not get to the vehicle right away so we flew...

our own mechanic up to Fairbanks to take care of the problem. Mr. [redacted] would not wait for the mechanic to finish fixing the vehicle and decided to rent the car instead. The customer was reimbursed $1922.90 on 7/21/2017 for his unused days in the vehicle. We compensate for the time lost in the vehicle. Unfortunately we cannot compensate for customer's other vehicles on top of reimbursement for the motor home. It is one or the other.  Thank youManagement

Dear [redacted] The reservation was for a 19gold Yukon Dasher. As we have clearly stated to you we reserve the right tooffer you a larger model of same or better quality RV for the same price aswhat you are paying. We offered you a 23 gold Adak Argonaut for the same priceas a 19 gold Yukon...

Dasher. You expressed you concern about not beingcomfortable with 2 extra feet of space in the vehicle at which time we showedyou smaller older models in trying to accommodate your needs. You chose not toselect any of the following options and cancelled your reservation. Ourpolicies clearly state our cancellation fees and special circumstance would notapply to your reservation as we did provide you with a vehicle of same or higherquality as what you have reserved. If you have any furtherquestions please do not hesitate to contact me. Please keep in mind that yourdeposit can be used as a credit towards a future rental.   Thank youManagment

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:
First of all, I appreciate the intended process that the Revdex.com provides, unfortunately in this particular case, with this particular corrupt merchant, it merely provides an electronic forum for Clippership Motorhome Rentals to attempt to justify their fraudulent behavior and their flawed position and is simply becoming circular.  For this reason I will take an alternate and more direct approach to resolving this issue. For the record, and to address their latest response, understand that:Clippership is directing a response to Mr. [redacted].  This in itself provides a clear indication of their professionalism.  My name is [redacted].They make an argument that in my original email I said I returned the motorhome by 6:00 p.m.  That is exactly what I said.  “By” 6:00 p.m. means BEFORE 6:00 p.m.  I didn’t say “at” 6:00 p.m., or “after” 6:00 p.m.  The reason this is important is that I had coordinated with Clippership staff on several occasions; at the time of making the reservation in January, 2016, just prior to the rental period in August, 2016 and at the time the Motorhome was picked up on September 3rd, 2016 to make sure I knew when I needed to return the unit.  They affirmed that it needed to be returned by 6:00 p.m. which was their normal closing time.  The motorhome was delivered to their location at 5:15 p.m. on September 11, 2016.They claim they called me regarding the alleged damage on September 12, 2016.  This in fact did not happen and has no bearing on this case anyway. They say that on September 14, 2016 a “Chrystal Galoven” called me regarding the alleged damage.  The individual that called me on this date gave me her name as Tye S[redacted].I have, and am stating that there was no damage to the motorhome at the time I returned it.  This has been documented in every response I have made to Clippership. The pictures that Clippership has ultimately provided does show damage to the unit, however if those pictures are valid, then the damage had to have occurred while the unit was in their possession and after 5:15 p.m. on September 11, 2016.In summary, this is not a trustworthy company.  This allegation of damage could have been avoided if Clippership would have simply checked in the motorhome at the time it was returned.  However, they refused to.  For that reason any damage that occurred to the motorhome after I returned it is their responsibility and it is not ethical to charge a customer for their mismanagement.  As a side note, it’s remarkable that the cost of the repair is ‘exactly’ the amount of the deposit Clippership took at the time of the reservation.  This amount is easy for them to take, as they know a customer that lives nearly 4,000 [redacted] away cannot easily contest such a claim.  It’s simply an easy way to increase their revenue at the expense of a customer.I highly recommend that anyone looking to rent a motorhome in Anchorage completely avoid Clippership Motorhome Rental. Sincerely,[redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:
The message from Clippership is NOT factual.  The vehicle was returned prior to their closing time, which on Sunday, September 11, 2016 was 6:00 p.m.  The vehicle was returned at 5:15 p.m..  At that time I entered their office and an employee was reclined on a sofa in their office.  I told him that I was returning the vehicle and asked what I needed to do to complete the return.  He remained on the sofa and simply told me that it was fine and nothing further needed to be done.  He further told me to leave the keys in the electrical compartment.  A woman in a side office (I’m assuming Ms. S[redacted]) heard me and called out to him to make sure that I had filled the vehicle with gasoline and propane (which I had already done).
FACTS:
When the vehicle was returned there was no damage whatsoever.
I complied with their requirement that the vehicle be returned during their normal working hours.
I expected the vehicle to be inspected when returned, but they refused to do so.
I was contacted three (3) days later and informed by Ms. S[redacted] of the alleged damage.
Any damage (if any exists at all) had to happen while Clippership was in possession of their vehicle.
No 3rd party estimate for repairs has been provided.
No pictures of damage have been provided.
Noteworthy is that the cost of ‘damages’ ($500.00) is the amount collected from me as deposit on January 26, 2016 when the vehicle was reserved.
Clippership failed to inspect the vehicle upon return and cannot claim damage.  The amount in question is significant, but more importantly it is a question of ethics.  This appears to be a fraudulent scheme that most likely fits within their business model.  In other words, purposely avoid checking in returned vehicles, claim damage after the fact, identify the cost of damages in the amount of the customer’s deposit, and increase their revenue by that amount.
I will not accept Clippership’s allegation and unilateral action.  Our deposit must be returned in full.  I will be following through with the State Attorney General, Department of Consumer Protection, Anchorage Chamber of Commerce, Anchorage Mayor and Assembly, AEDC and any other avenues to resolve this issue and advise would be renters of Clippership’s poor credibility and service issues.
Sincerely,[redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:  It is absolutely false that we were FULLY informed about the workings of the RV.  The woman that waited on us had just started work there 3 wks. ago and readily admitted she didn't know how every thing worked.  We were not informed about the release for the Black matter ( toilet ) was on the other side of the RV; that the refrigerator would freeze everything in itwe were told it was all automatic ; we were not told that the water pump had to be turned on when parked and getting water directly from the RV park and we were not informedabout the control panel on the wall next to the stove.  The RV did not have an OWNERS MANUAL.   We never saw the carpet in the bedroom which was filthy as were the cabinets especially where the utensils and pots/pans were kept.   Of course they could not see the blown sink handle because Ken from the RV Park and Motel in Healy came to the RV with tools and fixed!  I'm sure you can call them and he will verify that.  I don't know how they (clippership ) check the  front end of the RV but I can tell you to your face that the RV did shake at various speedsand sometimes it was hard to hold on to the steering wheel.  What about the holes in the screen in the vents; the stove that wouldn't work; the fitting on the water hose supply line to the RV that blew off while the water was turned on; the hose clamp on the sewage hose that kept coming off and the window that wouldn'tshut and kept opening while driving down the road. All these things indicated poor maintenance.  As far as the 1 day credit  ---   Seriously  are you kidding? Sincerely,[redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: Although the business walked me through the outside and showed me how to work the inside of the vehicle, contrary to what they're saying, the very nice young man who showed me the vehicle DID NOT tell me about or show me the window. The window is a huge safety risk--it blew out and then blew back in as I caught it with my hand, scratching one of my fingers. As for the bathroom leak, it was hooked up to a standard RV hook up at the Driftwood Inn RV lot in Homer.  It should not have leaked.  I find this business to be totally substandard and perhaps if they're renting to tourists they can get away with stuff like this but I will not let this issue go. #1 They should not be renting an unsafe vehicle; #2 There should be an inspection at the business--I've submitted the same complaint to the Alaska Attorney General's office and will continue to follow up on it until there is some resolution.
Sincerely,[redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: Their statement does not portray the facts - I did call them the day I rented the motor home (July 27) noting two things ( Fuel level and battery light ) at that time I asked what they wanted to do about it - The assured me that it was not a problem. Only after traveling about three hours I was broke down stranded on the 7/29 Glenn Highway - I had to locate services as Clippership was unable to get anyone to assist me - I contacted the nearest mechanic in Glennallen because the motor home DIED twice in the first 2oo miles. I sourced a good Samaritan to assis getting the troubled motorhome off the highway - I arranged the repairs. At that time the mechanic also made not that both from wheel bearings needed to be replace as one had grease leaking out of the hub/axle - no caps or covers were ever on this unit. At this time this motorhome was already not fit for the road and that is the way I received it from Clippership - A replacement unit did not get to me until 03:00 in the AM so the timeline that clippership has given is just plain old incorrect. I also looked over the replacement motorhome that was sent and since I could not gauge the mechanical soundness of that unit I stayed with the original unit because of the repairs and conversing with the mechanic in Glennallen gave it a good bill of health. Luckily I had not received any more trouble. I was not able to get anywhere Thursday PM because Clippership did not arrive by 10pm (AS PROMISED). I have emails and photo's of the mechanic's invoice and the pictures of the wheel bearings and the main issue with this was No service during or after the issue, as well as putting the lives of myself and others in jeopardy by renting a unit that was unfit for the road.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: The malfunctioning window and the leaking toilet did impact the use of the vehicle, jeopardizing our safety while driving and while parking. We returned the vehicle early because we didn't feel safe in it.Sincerely,[redacted]
