CMR Construction & Roofing Reviews (27)

It's clear that 1. CMR does not want to accept that the roof installed on our house in 2008 was an improper installation in spite of the clear pictures and report from Allstate showing showing the faulty installation or the multiple roof worker including their own that stated the same. (He uses the term minor installation issues, but I am showing evidence here they did not follow at all the installation procedures)2. they do not want to send us the proper information to file the warranty documentation with Atlas (shigle manufacturer) because they have seen the installation and know that the warranty claims will never be accepted by Atlas and that I would have no other alternative than to do what I am currently doing.3. accept that the shingles coming off the roof (in the previous set of pictures) is due to faulty installation4. CMR does not remember that we have been in mostly a drought for quite some time and that heavy rains were non existant for quite some ime, particularly in McKinney since the installation of the roofEveryone who has been up on our roof including CMR workers have acknowledged the shoddy installation of the shingles.  The first set of CMR workers, who I had to supervise, asked me who installed the roof because it was such a bad installation. The particular shingles used on our roof, Atlas Stormmaster Slate, has very particular instructions for it's usage in oder to be installed properly and for the roof to function correctly and withstand the years it was intended to withstand.  On top of that, we had purchased the upgrades (see CMR billing document already provided) that should have provided the premium warranty which would have covered both materials and labor to repair the roof.  After several discussions with roofing contractors about this shingle, they all say the same thing, it is very particular and you must get the proper alignment throughout the roof for it to function correctly.  CMR did not do this.  So I will illiustrate.I am attaching 1. the nailing pattern picture from the roofing shingle packet required showing the nails must be 1 in from each side  and exactly 9 in from bottom of shingle when using the 4 nail pattern or 6 nail pattern2. the nailing pattern instructions from the roofing shingle packet that details item #13. several pictures of the different shingles that fell off our roof by the chimney area that illustrate the nailing pattern was incorrect thus null and voiding the warranty by AtlasSo, while we understood both through verbal discussion with CMR and via the billing documents by CMR, that we were getting a 50 year roof, it was in actuality no better than a standard roof with improper installation.  I would submit more pictures, but it appears there is a file size limitation on the pictures. While we indeed did find that the chimney was also leaking, it was not the primary leak.  The primary leak was the roof as evidenced by the pictures already submitted showing the shingle failures in March.  A chimney leak leaking on the inside of the chimney wall cannot cause the damage to the roof decking. The decking does not go into the chimney and thus the rot and the roof leaking cannot be caused by chimney leaks.I find it almost humorous that CMR now submits an article on foundation shifting causing roof damage.  They are now foundation experts?  They have examined my home foundation and identified it as foundation shifting problems?  This is just laughable at best.  This is the first time they have ever brought this up even after multiple trips to my home to work on the roof.  Shame on you CMR for your deplorable actions and your self serving justifications.  CMR should man up and pay for my deductible required for the interior damage repair and the expense of the other contractor CMR called out initially who failed to deliver a proper resolution while we were under the clear impression he worked for CMR until half way through the project.  Otherwise we would have sent him home when he arrived.  But when your roof is leaking and more rain is on the way and the contractor has already removed a large portion of the roof around the chimney, you make sure the project is completed.Lastly, with the recent winds that came through North Texas, I indeed lost 3 more shingles on the South side of the house, far away from the chimney (North side) of the house.  Nail pattern problems all too evident. But I guess, CMR is too busy with making a TV star in Florida of one of their employees than to satisfy this simple expense request from a customer who this future CMR TV reality star initally worked with. Please note that the pictures of the shingles show the wear and tear of weathering.  These are the shingles that came off the roof and were originally saved to file a claim with Atlas.

Customer's workmanship expired in 2010.  CMR advised customer as such and out of courtesy referred customer to a small repair oriented subcontractor in an effort to help customer keep cost of repairs down.  Customer contracted and paid this contractor directly Subsequent, customer...

reported he was still having leaks issues.  CMR dispatched a repair crew which identified some potential issues with the roof.  CMR performed some repairs to the roof even though the warranty expired nearly six years ago.  However, to our understanding the leak is still active and has now been determined to be related to the chimney and not the roof.   We feel we have gone above and beyond by trying to help resolve this issue even though our workmanship warranty expired many years ago.  We are sorry that the customer is now having issues, but we feel strongly that those issues were not caused by CMR and ultimately the customer is responsible for maintaining their property

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 11577433, and have determined that this does not resolve my dispute. Our complaint still remains unresolved. Do you people even go back and read your own responses before you reply? Your first response to this complaint you admit in writing that what [redacted] did was “wrong and this will be addressed.” Now you claim he has done nothing wrong? WHEN DO THE LIES BY CMR STOP? Why does the owner of CMR have to agree to come to the house and personally inspect the roof? Does he have to do this because [redacted] did nothing wrong? No, it is because [redacted] lied to us and literally ran away from the insurance inspector. WHEN DO THE LIES BY CMR STOP? Why did [redacted] from CMR tell us and our neighbors that [redacted] lied? Was it because [redacted] did nothing wrong? No, it is because [redacted] is a liar and engaging in deceptive trade practices. WHEN DO THE LIES BY CMR STOP? I will get signed statements confirming our facts about [redacted] and CMR, but I guess you won’t want to see those. I am sure your next reply will be that [redacted] has been made CMR Employee of the Year and is now Head of Sales. In regards to our roof, everyone agrees there is damage. The extent of the damage is what is in question. CMR agreed to write a report and has failed to do so. They should receive a “F” from the Revdex.com.

The roof performed properly for many years after it was installed and the workmanship warranty expired.  Therefore, it is clear that the roof leak was not caused by improper installation as asserted by the customer.  There may have been some minor issues with the installation, but none that caused the roof to leak. The customer was advised that he would be responsible for any repairs performed by the contractor CMR referred to him in an effort to help the customer save money, versus marking up the cost and trying to earn profit at the customer's expense.  The fact that the customer paid the contractor directly without raising any issue with CMR evidences that the customer was aware this was his responsibility.CMR never blamed the customer for "nail patterned the shingle wrong....".  However, during our conversation with the customer, it was in fact discussed that if the shingles had been improperly nailed they would have leaked immediately, not 8 years later.   Obviously, that part of the conversation was misunderstood. It should be noted that even though the workmanship warranty had been expired for 6 years, CMR still sent a crew out to perform requested repairs, although we had no obligation to do so.  We consider that going above and beyond.Last, please see recent news report regarding the recent epidemic of roof leaks associated with shifting foundations and cracking chimneys due to the drought related lowered water table, and see photos of recent mortar tuckpointing repairs performed on the customer's chimney by (we assume) another contractor.  This clearly demonstrates that external factors not related to the roof have caused the leaks that the customer is complaining about, and explains why these leaks have not manifested until many years after the roof was installed.
http://dfw.cbslocal.com/2015/12/14/roofers-flooded-with-calls-about-leaking-chim... /> We are very sorry that the customer has not been satisfied with our efforts to help him resolve his issues, however, we cannot assume liability for things that are not our responsibility, even though in this case we have gone above and beyond what we were obligated to.

[redacted] believed that there was damage to the roof, when there was none.  That is what I was referring to when I said he was "wrong". He will receive additional training so that he can more accurately identify hail damage.  I'm not sure who "everyone" is that agrees there is damage to your roof but perhaps you could call for a reinspect from your insurance company (that also did not see damage) and the "everyone" you are referring to would be able to show them the damages that we did not see.

This Cleveland, OH area customer requested we investigate a leak in March 2015.  Upon inspection, it was determined that leak was due to ice damming.  Ice damming is not covered under our warranty as it is generally caused by factors unrelated to the installation of the roof. ...

CMR's warranty tech performed the non-warranty repairs per the terms of the service agreement and the customer was contacted by CMR staff to advise of the issue, the solution, and the cost.  Customer has refused to pay the bill, but CMR has not pursued collections at this point.  See attached photos, invoice and service agreement

To my knowledge Ms [redacted] is in communication with a CMR representative and we are working with her to address her issues.
