Code Red Appliance Service, Inc. Reviews (29)

We came across a recalled relay part for the compressor in our fridge on [redacted]’s website. So my Wife Contacted Code Red Appliance and they were very friendly at the time and setup an appointment for their tech to come out to replace the part. When their tech [redacted] came out that morning he was very polite and friendly and promptly got to work and was in and out in less than 5 minutes. Later that night I went to look in the fridge to make something for dinner and found a big puddle and water dripping out of my fridge. When I opened the freezer and fridge both compartments were warm and my fridge full of food was wasted. My wife has a gluten allergy so all of that had gone bad too and it’s not cheap.

So I called them and left them a message since it was after hours, letting them know the situation and asking them to call me back tomorrow asap. Their voice mail even says that they will get back to you the following day. So by 2pm the next day I still have not received a call, so I go ahead and call them again. I explained to the girl on the phone and she connected me with her manager [redacted]. [redacted] was very nice and apologetic. She informed me that they were looking on locating a replacement part and that the tech would be out the following day to install it. I asked about getting reimbursed for the approx. $200+ in groceries we had lost and she said that depending on what the tech said that failed (the part or improper install) that they would contact [redacted] to get a refund.

So the following day their tech [redacted] came back out. Very apologetic about the situation. After he installed the part the compressor immediately kicked on. He told me he did not test the new relay he installed the other day and he should of. Since the fridge was at the set temperature the compressor wouldn’t of kicked on right away he should of opened the doors to let the fridge warm up to see if the compressor would kick on. He was in a hurry and didn’t test it. He also mentioned this had happened to him before years ago where someone had lost all their insulin and that his company Code Red Appliance reimbursed them. He told me that if [redacted] didn’t cover our food loss they would.

After he left I called his manager [redacted] again to confirm what had happened and she said she would contact [redacted] for us since it was their part that had failed. I said ok, but figured it was their responsibility to pay us since it was their Tech who did not properly test to make sure everything was working when he left. I work as an engineer in semi-conductor and there is no way I’d ever install a part without verifying everything worked once I was done.

After a few days I called [redacted] again and she confirmed that [redacted] had agreed to reimburse us up to $100 and that a check would be mailed to us in 7-10 business days. It’s not the amount I was looking for, but it was better than nothing and I wasn’t going to argue. She said to call her back if the check didn’t show up.

Fast forwarding to 11th business day my wife called during business hours and they didn’t answer the phone. She left a message letting them know we had not received the check and to have the manager [redacted] call us back. No calls were made till my wife called again the next day and the receptionist answered. She had some attitude on the phone with my wife and said that [redacted] was not in yet and she would have her call her when she got in. Still no phone call so again my wife called the next day and again the receptionist had attitude. Again the manager was not in, but she said it was not their problem anymore and that we had to contact [redacted] ourselves. When my wife asked for [redacted]’s number she huffed and puffed about that too. When my wife called [redacted] they said that they were not sending a check, but a pre-paid visa and it would be 4-6 weeks.

So in essence as long as there are no issues when they come out for repairs Code Red is polite and great, but if they screw up and you call them out that’s when the attitude starts. The only great experience we had was with the tech [redacted]. [redacted] dodge our calls and the receptionist gave us attitude as soon as we started to ask them about the reimbursement. I believe they should of owned up to their mistake and made right on it. Instead they passed the blame to [redacted]. I will never use their service again. If they can’t do it right the first time apparently it’s the customer’s problem. Not theirs.

Kyle was the technician. He was quick, professional, and informative.

Great experience with Kyle and our oven repair. He was on time, professional, knowledgable and neat with his work. Highly recommend this company and will definitely keep them on my call back list.

Had a problem with newer model KitchenAid refrigerator/freezer not freezing. Called KitchenAid service and they arranged for Code Red appointment the next day. William showed up on time, very pleasant and knowledge. He quickly diagnosed the problem and said I would hear from scheduler with day/time to replace the compressor. Received a call the next day with day/time for repair. William showed up on time, quickly replaced the necessary parts, gave me a detailed explanation of what he had done and was out the door in about an hour. Great service, knowledgeable, punctual, pleasant and professional.
