Complete Painting

Review: I contracted with Complete Painting and Carpentry, [redacted], to repair and paint three ceilings in my home. Work was supposed to begin at 8 in the morning of October 8. I called Mr. [redacted] on October 9 to relay my dissatisfaction with the process. His employee did not begin working on the 8th until late in the day, left for several hours and then came back that night at 7:30. I explained that I didn't appreciate the lack of professionalism. Mr. [redacted] said that it was that the "mud needed to cure" which was not the case because he had only done mudding in one room at that point. The following day was similar in terms of pattern. I left another message (Oct. 11) for Mr. [redacted] explaining that the work was being poorly done, and was certainly not the level that I'd expect from a professional painter. I then left another message for Mr. [redacted] (Oct. 14). At that time we discussed my concerns. I also relayed that in addition to the poor workmanship, paint on the floors, furniture, walls and very poor paint job I was concerned because his employee had been in my kitchen cabinets and looked at personal things in the basement. When Mr. [redacted] called back he promised that his employee would come back and fix things and that I didn't need to worry about him-he was a good person and wouldn't be looking for anything in my things and he just "glanced" at it while he was at the utility sink. His employee came back to fix the work on October 21. I was not home to discuss it but left a lengthy note with my mother. I returned the 22 and called Mr. [redacted] to again relay my extreme dissatisfaction. The ceilings are very poorly done with bubbling and visible cracks. Additionally, instead of texturing appropriately his company used something akin to silly string which looks visibly ridiculous in comparison to the surrounding area, nothing meshes together. The edge work between the ceiling and trim is extremely poorly done with splotches and no blending-you can see an area of up to 6 inches in spots. It is visible around the entire room in all three rooms. Tape edges and pieces are visible in all rooms. There is paint on my light fixtures, doors, ceiling fan, chair, floors, windows, area rugs and furniture. His employee used ABSOLUTELY NO CARE. Mr. [redacted] told me I was making a "personal" attack on his employee and was otherwise verbally abusive. To be clear, I don't care about his employee-I am disappointed in the VERY poor work product and his response. He eventually said he would come over and personally see the work. I couldn't meet the following day (Friday) as he suggested because I was out of town for work. He told me to call him and he would come over any afternoon. I have called for three weeks, leaving several options each time and he has not returned any calls or otherwise responded.Desired Settlement: I would like an immediate refund. The work was badly done, I have had to spend countless hours cleaning and have furniture that is permanently damaged.

I have been in business for over 20 years and have endless impeccable references. The people I employ are professional painters who do this as their trade. The bottom line is, some people are just impossible to please. We went back to Sara's home to fix or clean anything that she had a problem with and when we did, there was nothing to fix or clean. Even her own mother told us it looked beautiful. The only way to prove any of this so called horrible work is seeing pictures of it. We could go back and forth on this, bottom line is she just wants something for free. It's her word against mine. Before you make any decisions about this unproven complaint, please have her send pictures, I don't think she will be able to. At the end of the job we were paid in full. If she was so dissatisfied, why did she pay? I would hate to think that after all these years in business that anything on your end would be decided that would place my business in to such a permanent negative light without any proof.
