Connecticut Post Reviews (33)

Review: On May 12th 2014, a couple of friends and I attended an extreme couponing workshop sponsored by CT Post. I signed up to receive 6 months subscription for Sunday, which I prepaid. The form that I filled stated that if you wanted to auto renewal once the subscriptions end to please check the box which I did not fill out because I did not want an auto renewal. In several times in November and December I called CT Post because they kept sending me renewal notices which I called and told them that once my subscription end I did not want to renew. I also called several times during my subscription times because I was having several issues with the delivery of my paper and I also received a phone call from the delivery women herself harassing me for calling about the delivery, to which I hung up only to have her call me a couple more times. I called CT Post because I did not like the fact that they had their employee having access to my home phone calling me to harass me for something I paid for. Now I received a bill from [redacted], Inc (File #[redacted]) a collection agency stating I owe CT Post $41.40. For what? I told them several times that I did not want to received my paper pass my prepaid subscription. I tried calling CT Post and spoke to [redacted] and [redacted] and requested to speak to a supervisor to clear up this matter and both times I was hung up on. I am very upset for their business practices, not to mention the harassment I suffered at the hands of their deliver person.Desired Settlement: I would like CT Post to clear up this matter and stop their collection agency from taking any further action. This is CT Post problem and I could not have to pay for something I did not order nor want.

Review: I have had great luck over the last year in eliminating junk mail being delivered to my home. Great luck with every company I have contacted except one, The Connecticut Post / [redacted]. The Connecticut Post / [redacted] are responsible for the [redacted] (junk mail), that is distributed to people via mail on a weekly basis.

I have done everything in my power to stop The Connecticut Post / [redacted] from sending me their junk mail.

I have called on numerous occasions and most recently spoke to [redacted] and other representatives, and requested to be removed from the mailing list by phone. I have gone on federal opt-out pages to opt out, I have sent letters, I have tried everything in my power to stop The Connecticut Post / [redacted] from sending me their junk mail, [redacted], and nothing has worked.

Reaching out to the Revdex.com is my last attempt before I contact the [redacted] office.

Is the Connecticut Post / [redacted] breaking any laws by continually sending me junk mail that I do not want? Probably not. But I am entitled to my privacy, and I find it appalling that The Connecticut Post / [redacted] refuses to respect my privacy and honor my request to stop harassing me with unwanted mail.Desired Settlement: My desired outcome is to have The Connecticut Post / [redacted] permanently remove me from their mailing list, and stop sending me mail that I have clearly stated I do not wish to receive. I never want to receive any publication, junk mail or any other correspondence from The Connecticut Post / [redacted], unless they are contacting me to follow up on this issue, and guaranteeing me that they will respect my privacy.

Review: Went to a extreme coupon seminar in [redacted] that was sponsored by [redacted] . There was a special price to subscribe if you did it at the seminar ..Quantity of 5 Sunday Only papers for $30 a month and a free $30 gift card .They charged my card on 2/26/15 ..1st set of papers should have been 3/1/15 and no delivery , next set should have been 3/8/15 no delivery. Had to wsit until 3/9/15 and speak to a representative that ensured me would get them on 3/15/15 ..I received a delivery on 3/15/15 for 1 paper , where are the other 4 ??? I was charged for products never delivered and then this company has the nerve to run through my credit card again because they bill 2 weeks in advance for the next month ..you didn't get the 1st month right .Also never received my $30 gift card and most likely never will . Unprofessional company and I want nothing to do with them ..Again I want all my money back asapDesired Settlement: I want a full refund of every dime I paid ,for product never received.and cancel the subscription and do not charge me going forward

Review: I received two coupons at different times to a discount of 50% off the Connecticut Post.I call the ###-###-####(which is no longer in service)and t old the young lady who answered the phone that I received a coupon for $1.75 a week for 13 weeks. She told me I could not get the deal until June17,2014. I told her I would be out of the country then. I alsotold her to canceled my then pending $4.75 for 13week subscription. I finally got the new phone number Connecticut Post only to be told the promotion was for June 17, 2014 only by a teller marketer and her supervisor. These coupons#[redacted] Have no expiration date. Best Regards, [redacted]Desired Settlement: Validate my coupons.

Review: I was billed for a subscription I never ordered. Shortly thereafter this bill was sent to a collection agency. I subsequently called the collection agency and the CT Post however this is completely unacceptable that this company does this.Desired Settlement: I want proof that this matter has been taken care of and that this will not affect my credit rating. I also want this company to NOT do this to anyone else.

Review: SUBSCRIPTION WAS CARRIED ON BEYOND THE DATE THAT I PAID FOR WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION TO AUTOMATICALLY RENEW.

I originally paid in advance for a 26 week subscription that was advertised on the front of flyers included with the CT Post. I did NOT subscribe in a grocery store or a soliciting phone call. I made the call to the Post and told them that I wanted the 26 week subscription and paid in advance with a credit card. AT NO TIME WAS I EVER TOLD, EITHER VERBALLY OR IN WRITING, that my subscription would be renewed automatically at a higher rate. When my subscription expired, I started to receive bills. I called the paper to end the subscription AND I wrote CANCEL IMMEDIATELY on every single bill I received. Yet I kept receiving the papers. I did not want the papers and did not authorize any further subscription. Then I received a notice from a collection agency. I disputed it, and called the paper. They insisted I subscribed at a grocery store with auto renewal and that the best they could do for me was take $15 off the $52 I owed or the collection agency would pursue me. I felt intimidated as I have never ever been late on a bill or been sent to collections. I ended up paying $37 and asking for the subscription to be cancelled, which they assured me would be done and that the collection agency would send me a letter saying this was settled. I have not received a letter and I am still getting the paper! I feel I was coerced into paying for something that I should not have paid for.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of the money that I paid to keep my account out of collections. I did not authorize an automatic renewal of my subscription. I tried both verbally and in writing to get the subscription cancelled.

Consumer Response /* (-5, 8, 2013/05/02) */

Consumer indicated they have heard from the company, but the issue has not been resolved. Comments follow below:

The CT Post has called me to say that I did owe the money. I still think I do not owe them for papers I did not want and did not ask for. They have assured me twice that the Collection Agency would be sending me a letter saying the case was closed - I have received nothing from the Collection Agency.

Review: The following is that the CT Post has their Customer representative in Billing tell their customers who are seniors citizens and are having problems!

My mother was given a senior citizen discount from

the paper and that was when her month during the summer went up,so my sister called and spoke to a rrepresentative and ask if their was something like a senior discount so my mom could continue with the paper and she said yes this was in July of 2012. Now last month I found out their was no

such thing and that one neighbor of ours had the same thing and was charged the following month a high rate. I am claiming that their reps are lieing and that the paper is not being honest and not helping the seniors.Desired Settlement: What they promised before and the rate of 28.97 for the 7 days of the paper. Also a refund of last month a partial.

Review: A representative of Connecticut Post came into my business trying to have us sign up for advertising with Connecticut Post on [redacted]. She asked us to fill out the papers and was told by us NOT to go forward with this until we gave her authorization to do so. Her promise to us was that she would not. I was also supposed to be told what and when these posts would be put on [redacted]. I was to have final approval when the contract was to be put into affect. She also told us that there was no contract for a time limit and we made that perfectly clear that we did not want to be under any obligation to this company. She agreed. In about 3 weeks we saw a charge of $250.00 on our statement. We called the representative and she assured us that she would stop it and it would not go forward until we authorize it. The reason for that was we were still using another company for the same purpose and we did not want nor could we afford to have two companies. She did not stop it or have it removed. We called Connecticut Post and told them to stop the process and to stop billing us. They kept billing us. We kept calling and we disputed the bill on our credit card 3 times. We had to cancel our credit card because they would not stop.

We then received a phone call which I spoke to a lady named [redacted] explaining the whole situation. I asked her for a copy of the contract and was told that the young woman that worked for the company is no longer with them. I told her that they were responsible for her actions of lying and unscrupulous practices of obtaining my business. We also asked for proof of the work that they supposedly did for us. At this point we have not received anything from them other than threatening letters, phone calls and more letters saying that we owe them $900.00. We still do not know for what. This to me is extortion and I am willing to fight this to the end because I will not be intimidated by their practices of extortion for something they did not do for me. I did not authorize any work from them ever and was lied to by [redacted]. I believe that in that company they are not communicating with each other and did not inform each other that we had no contract until I authorized it to move forward.. I am not responsible for that. I was also told that this is being done to other people by this company. She had no right to turn that in. We again did not authorize it to go through.Desired Settlement: I would like for them to stop calling, sending me letters and trying to harass me. They are trying to collect money for a service that was not authorized or I never even saw one ounce of work performed by this company. I have absolutely no intention of paying for something that I did not receive. I believe this is extortion. I believe [redacted] deceived us and the company and would have done anything to put that order through. I have been a business owner for 28 years and have NEVER NOT been given a copy of the contract because I did not believe I had entered into one yet. Lies

Review: On 12/08/15 I looked at my checking account and saw a charge of $11.40 taken out of my account. I called the CT Post and asked why this was taken out. They told me they had my credit card information and my OK to withdraw the funds for a monthly payment. I didn't know they had kept my credit card information and they didn't have my approval to withdraw funds from my checking. I told them to get rid of the credit card information that was on file and refund my money and send me a bill for the paper. I have called twice since then and they still have not refunded my money it's been 10 days. As of today 12/18/15 I asked to speak to a manager and they said they could take care of the problem. Well they haven't. 3 People told me this. They said they will send a request to accounting and I asked for the number so I could speak with them directly and I was told it was handled elsewhere so they didn't give me the number. Needless to say I still don't have the money in my account and what gives them or anyone the right to withdraw money from someone's account without their knowledge or keep their credit card information.

Response:

In regards to Mrs. [redacted] complaint, I can see that a refund was issued 0n 12-23-15 for the $11.40 she requested. I do not show that her account was ever put on auto pay and that the $11.40 was a 1 time payment not from a recurring charge. She is now set to receive only a paper bill. This issue is resolved.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Sincerely,

Review: I was solicited by a group of teenagers at my door to sign up for a 4 week subscription to the CT Post Sunday Papers for $8. This was around September 2012. The paper I signed agreed to 4 weeks and it was notated that I paid. I paid the teenagers in cash and received my 4 weeks. The paper continued to arrive at my house and I was not sure why, as I had paid in full for the 4 weeks and had no bill or notice from CT Post. In January I received a bill for $25 unpaid balance. I called CT post and spoke with a young man whpo tried to convince to to sign up for the paper. I explaine dthe issue with him, he did not seem to listen and continues to push the new subscription to me and stated he would tell his manager about my concern. On March 21, 2013 I received a notice that my account had been sent to collections for past due balances. I never agreed to anything more than 4 weeks of the Sunday paper. On March 25th I called he billing dept at 10am, spoke with a young lady who agrued with me and stated I had to call and cancel my paper. I was never told, or signed a disclaimer that stated it was my responsibility to call and cancel the subscription. That was why I paid in cash to begin with. The young lady took my cell number and stated a manager would call me. No one called. I caled again and the new phone representative asked if I had been hung up on earlier as there was no mention on my billing issue or that I had been forwarded to the manager. The new worker could not transfer me to a manager and could not give me billing's phone number to contact myself. If I had know this company had a scam of sending youth out to solict unwated paper subscriptions I never would have given them any money as I do not read the paper and the coupns are rarely any good use to me. I want this bill resolved and I would appreciate a call from a manager with authority to resolve this matter.

Desired Settlement: I would like the bill removed. I do not wish to pay as I never agreed to this ongoing service and was not properly notifed of thier business practices.

Review: I signed up for four weeks of newspaper delivery for $15.00 in July 2013. My credit card was charged $24.70 on 07-23-13, and recently my credit card was again billed $74.75 without my authorization. I never agreed to extend the delivery service, and I was never given a bill, receipt, or statement for this transaction. I didn't even receive information on how to cancel this transaction within three business days or thereafter.Desired Settlement: I want all of my money returned minus the agreed upon $15.00 for a total refund of $84.45.

Review: This is the worst newspaper service I have ever seen. I started a subscription 5 weeks ago. I got a paper the first week and have not gotten one since. We have spoken to multiple supervisors and managers who were going to take care of the problem. Still no paper. Every week I have to call the paper and request a credit on my account. All they ever have to say is that they are sorry but no one does anything about it. I would like to see a free subscription for over a year that is delivered on time every week and I would like my money back for the current subscription. It is amazing this company is still in business when they take money from customers and never provide the service.Desired Settlement: Money back on current subscription and a free subscription for at least one year that is delivered each day on time and accurately.

Review: Ct Post called and offered 3 months of delivery for $41.95. We had to cancel after 2 months if we decided not to continue with delivery. Eleven days later our credit card was charged $110.50. After many phone calls I was told the deal was 1 month not 3 and that of the $41.95 a $7.95 service fee was included. I finally called the circulation director and was assured the matter would be taken care of and I would receive a refund. That was last July and I still have not gotten my refund. I tried to cancel delivery of the paper on several occasions. Each time I sat on hold for 30 - 60 minutes and finally hung up.

Why would anyone pay a $7.95 svc fee when you can call the paper and begin delivery for no charge. Also the 4 wk regular price for delivery was less than $34.00 at the time. This seems like a scam. I am at a loss as to what else I can do to straighten this out. I have never lodged a complaint before. Not verbally or in writing.

The bills themselves are not clear. The date the subscription starts and ends is always the same date. It is impossible to know what dates you are paying for. The only information the bill gives is the price for 4 wk, 13 wk, 26 wk subscription and any balance owed.Desired Settlement: We did continue receiving the paper so I am torn as to whether or not I should get a refund. I never asked to continue the paper or authorize the 2nd credit card payment and I did try to straighten this out and tried many times to cancel with no luck. This isn't how a business should be run.
