Our branch staff spoke with the member on June to discuss her loan and insurance They mailed the member the original signed agreement for her to review and also included a cancellation form for her to complete and returnWe have not received it as of todayOur Branch Manager has tried to contact the member several times this week to follbut we have not received a call backWe did however in good faith reverse a late fee as a courtesy
I am hopeful that the member will return our Branch Managers call to continue conversations to bring any further concerns to a close

I am a beneficiary on my deceased mom savings account with corporate America Credit Unionon August 23rd I sent them a copy of my mom's death certificate with a notarized letter requesting my half of the savings account worth $ I called to check if the paperwork was being processed on the 6th of September I was informed by Abbie, a so call customer service rep that there was no record of my paperwork or the copy of my mom's death certificateI faxed the letter again and I hope that they do not lose it
my complaint is that it's very unacceptable to me that my paperwork is missing after weekshad I not called they would have never called and who knows what would have happened to the funds
They also want me to put a copy of my ID on the letter which I refuse to do because I have the letter notarized and it shows my identityI had to do this before with some of my mom's account and a notarized letter legally should be suffice
I hope that I don't have any issue

On January 5, 2018, I purchased a vehicle loan through Corporate America Family Credit Union (CAFCU) for a *** ***As we have multiple other vehicles in our household, it took a month to review and compare quotes from multiple car insurance companiesOn February 16, 2018, my husband and I purchased a policy for car insurance, which met the requirements of the credit union, through *** and as requested, we immediately faxed that policy information to CAFCU
In the weeks following the purchase of the insurance policy, I received notification from CAFCU that stated they had purchased a year-long policy in the amount of $on the above vehicle to cover the month (January - February 16) that the vehicle was not insuredWhen I contacted them to dispute this, I was informed that their contract states the vehicle must be covered as of the date of the loan, and if it is not, they have the right to purchase a policy to cover the vehicle at the expense of the consumerF

I am a member of a different credit union and have used or tried to use the Bristol, CT Corporate America Family Credit Union shared branch on multiple occasionsAfter my husband and I married we had a number of checks with both of our names on themHowever, only my name is on the accountThey would not deposit my checks, but to add insult to injury they were incredibly rude about itI avoided using this shared branch and instead mailed all of my checks to my credit union out of stateWhen it came time to take money out of the account to put a downpayment on a home, I specifically went out of my way to find the next closest shared branch, minutes away, to get the bank check or cashier's check that was requestedHowever, the branch did not issue themSo, I was forced to try the Corporate America Family Credit Union in Bristol, CT again Partway through the process the manager, who was filling in as a teller that day (Esther ***), noticed that my license had my maiden name and my bank account had my married name (I switched it when I changed my last name, but my license hadn't expired and didn't need to be changed until it did)She checked to see if she could still make the transaction and was able to without any issues So, I started making deposits in this Bristol branch again for convenienceThe first time the teller insisted that she couldn't deposit my check, I suggested she go ask the manager who had done the bank check a few weeks prior She came back and followed through with cashing the check but made it clear through her tone and general demeaner that I was inconveniencing her because I was making her do more workShe pulled out a book of out of state licenses to make sure mine was legit and made me answer a bunch of questions concerning my personal identification The particular teller remembered me each time I came in and always seemed annoyed because she had to take the extra step to put my license number down on the withdrawl formHowever, I was never told that I wasn't allowed to make a deposit or withdrawl from then on Until today, when I went to make a withdrawal to pay for work being done to my car Because the business only took cash or checks, I had no other option but to take money out of my savings accountI had a different teller than usual who of course said she didn't think she could make the transaction because the name on my license didn't match up to name on the accountI explained that another teller thought that too, but the manager okayed it and in fact that manager also gave me a cashier's check for $2,a few months agoAfter checking with that manager, Esther ***, she informed that the transaction would not be approved I asked to speak with the manager *** told me that her staff was told to tell me that there would not be any exceptions made after the time that she wrote the bank check for my mortgageI explained that this was the first I was hearing this and that I needed access to my money because I could only pay to get my car fixed with cash She was incredibly rude and unhelpful *** insisted that I knew that no exceptions would be made However, I quickly pointed out that not only had staff never told me that in all of the times I had gone in to make make deposits over the summer, but that she herself never said that during the initial transaction for the bank check*** said that she had made a special exception for the bank check and that she could ruin the credit union's entire relationship with other shared branches if she let me withdraw the money todayWhen pressed as to why she made previous exceptions if she wasn't supposed to *** said that we were in a private business and that she could ask me to leave, alluding to a threat to call policeIt was completely over the top and unneccesary When I asked for her supervisor's number *** would only give me the number and refused to give me the person's direct lineMy mother who happened to be visiting from out of town asked her to call the supervisor and she said she "didn't have time." There was a complete lack of understanding on her part and she could not have handled the situation any worse, literally yelling at us in the lobby of the credit union No one was swearing, our voices were raised She could have asked us to step into her office Instead, she chose to confront us in front of her customers I can't believe they would put someone with such terrible people skills in charge Someone with good customer service skills would have said, "I'm sorry there's been a miscommunication We will do this one last time." Afterall, she knew that I needed to the cash in order to get my car, so time was of the essenceEach time I have gone to this branch I have been made to feel like an identity thief, when in fact my husband and I are both professionals who work at two of the largest media corporations in the world I would not recommend doing business with this branch

I was a member for years of another credit union that merged with Corporate America Family Credit UnionI withdrew all my funds and closed my accounts within years of dealing with this placeThe first words in the name, "Corporate America", say it allThis business is terrible to deal with and does not do right by its customersThey should take the word "Family out of their name

Excessively charge overdraft feesThey place a hold on pending charges and charge overdraft fees even if the charge has not officially posted to the account yetThey also "re-order" the way pending charges are posted in order to collect the most amount of fees as they have no policy on the total amount of overdraft fees they can charge in a single dayI've seen overdraft fees in excess of $charged in a single day

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me
Sincerely,
Jennifer ***

I became a member of corporate America family credit union through my employee *** in I opened the acctat the MacArthur location here in TX The people at the branch are wonderful and always a pleasure to work with I was pleased when I received a 10,dollars title loan against my *** *** I used the money to pay off bills and the IRS The agreement to pay a month for years Short time letter I received a 1,dollars signature loan as a benefit to having an open acct with direct deposit Agreement to pay dollars monthly In I lost my Job I was out of work for months and months with no income Still at this point both acct were being paid mostly on time, but rarely days late Well when I finally got a job, I had no choose but to file bankruptcy to save my home I filed chapter 13, which I didn't include my credit union They had shown loyalty to me so I wanted to make sure I fulfilled my obligation to them So the title loan wa

The absolute WORST banking institution I have ever had the mispleasure of working withFor starters, they have severely inconvenient hours for someone working a regular 8am-5pm M-F jobMost of their "member services" require you to come in to one of their locations which causes a mass of scheduling conflicts with employersGood luck getting approved for ANYTHING that doesn't require a large sum of money up front, even if you have a solid credit scoreNow the kicker, be careful if you do get approved for a loan or card with themThey like to tack on expanses and services that you DO NOT approve of or know about, and then when you call to resolve it they don't want to remove anything and will keep charging you for services you don't require or useAlso tried to switch my loan payment date to avoid late fees due to acquiring a new job and they declined to do so every time, which also impacts my credit scoreMember service representatives are very vague when it comes to answering questions and are quick to try to cut you off just to get you off the phone without giving you any answers to your questions regarding the fees and *** add-ons they chargeThey DO NOT care about their members whatsoeverThis branch in particular is a joke and their business model is heavily flawedIt's a wonder they are still in business, stealing from their membersAccount is being canceled as we speakWill be advising people to stay away and will never recommend this bank to anyone no matter what the circumstanceWill be writing similar reviews on any and all review sites

Revdex.com Complaint ID #: [redacted]   Jennifer L. [redacted] obtained a vehicle loan from Corporate America Family Credit Union (CAFCU) on 1/5/18 for the purchase of a 2013 [redacted]. Per the Supplemental Loan Agreement, the Loan and Security Agreement items numbered six and seven, and the Disclosure...

Statement Ms. [redacted] signed, there is an insurance requirement stipulation that is to be met upon the consummation of the loan. The stated purpose of the insurance requirement is to protect the credit union’s collateral interest. A first notice was sent via email on 1/29/18 and via USPS on 2/5/18 indicating that we had not received the required proof of insurance as of the loan date. The letter also indicates the following insurance requirements: continuous insurance coverage with no lapses, CAFCU listed as lien holder, and comprehensive and collision coverage with deductibles not greater than $1,000.00. On 2/20/18, we received proof of insurance effective 2/17/18 indicating a lapse in coverage. A notice for a lapse in coverage was mailed on 3/5/18 requesting adequate coverage from 1/5/18 to 2/16/18. The notice also explained that a Collateral Protection Insurance (CPI) premium of $1,049.00 and applicable interest would be added to the loan and payment obligation for the lapse of 1/5/18-2/16/18 if proof was not received for the lapsed timeframe. Having received no response to the address or phone number that was provided in the notices, per the agreements, CPI was added to the loan on 3/12/18 with a premium amount of $1,049.00.   CAFCU spoke with Ms. [redacted] on 4/16/18 and 4/30/18 regarding the loan insurance requirements. She stated that her reason for the lapse was due to her reviewing and comparing quotes from multiple insurance companies. CAFCU asked Ms. [redacted] to contact her insurance company to see if they could update the insurance effective date to the 1/5/18 loan date. They were not able to do so and Ms. [redacted] contacted CAFCU to inform us. In the complaint she also indicates that the title had been lost by the [redacted] Motor Company leading to her being unable to register or drive the vehicle. This does not affect the loan insurance requirements upon consummation of the loan.   Upon further review, we approved and will be issuing a one-time courtesy full refund of $1,049.00 which will be applied directly to the member’s principal balance on the loan. Ms. [redacted] demonstrated the intent to take responsibility to meet the requirements of the loan insurance. We are working with our insurance provider to expedite the refund in order to resolve this matter as soon as possible. CAFCU will be contacting Ms. [redacted] to inform her of our decision.

Disclosure Statement that describes the terms of the loan including the 73 month term.  In addition, she signed the Guaranteed Asset Protection (GAP) Contract that describes the term of the loan at 73 months in addition to the full details of coverage including the maximum term coverage of 72 months and that advances added to the loan after the effective date of the loan would not be covered by the protection.  From inception of the loan, the this member has had a total of $1,092.00 in late charges added to her loan as shown below.  These charges plus any accrued interest would not be covered with the GAP protections per the signed contract as late charges are not included in the protected balance.

This member paid $249.00 for the GAP coverage and received $972.93 in benefits from the coverage after her insurance paid $11,105.96 leaving her an outstanding balance owed to Corporate America Family Credit Union of $1,456.72

I paid every late charge the following month which brought the account current and should not have resulted in an additional payments. However, I am not surprise by this business response. They do not care anything about their members. My referred my mom to them and she had a bad experience and now me. This is simply a horrible and unethical company with no integrity and I just want my experience on file for others to know so that they can make an informed decision before doing business with this credit union.

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/06/23) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I have not taken any cash advances in over 4 years and I did not sign up or agree to monthly charge for debt cancellation services. Please review and adjust my account accordingly.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2015/07/02) */
Our branch staff spoke with the member on June 25 to discuss her loan and insurance . They mailed the member the original signed agreement for her to review and also included a cancellation form for her to complete and return. We have not received it as of today. Our Branch Manager has tried to contact the member several times this week to follow-up but we have not received a call back. We did however in good faith reverse a late fee as a courtesy.
I am hopeful that the member will return our Branch Managers call to continue conversations to bring any further concerns to a close.

We just recently became aware of this complaint. We discovered that the letter sent to us from the Revdex.com contained the wrong zip code. The email that was sent contained elements that caused us to interpret it as SPAM. [redacted] applied for membership with Corporate...

America Family Credit Union on December 1, 2017 via an online application. Based on the information supplied by [redacted] and information provided by credit reporting agencies, the application was placed in a review status, [redacted] was contacted and asked to submit a paper application and additional verification documents. We received the documents from [redacted] on December 21, 2017. The copy of [redacted]’s Social Security card showed that he had entered the third number incorrectly on the online application. To continue the process of enrolling [redacted] and meet the regulatory mandated Customer Identification Program requirements, we performed an additional inquiry to [redacted] and the credit bureau with the correct information. Upon review of the information from the credit reporting agencies based on the correct Social Security number, [redacted] did not qualify for membership. His membership was never approved. We encourage [redacted] to contact the credit reporting agencies (contact information was provided to [redacted] with our notice that he did not qualify for membership) and confirm the information they are reporting is correct or initiate a dispute directly with them.
