I have now been in contact with the general manager of pool city since I felt that the matter was not being handled by the Robinson store.  The general manager has now given me his direct number to contact.  I still feel the stores service is terrible and I would of already had a pool in regardless of weather if they had not made large errors to begin with.

Ms. [redacted],I inspected this complaint with Mr. [redacted] on Monday July 18, 2016. The pool appeared to be installed correctly. The issue of the floor's spongy or uneven nature was discussed. It was determined, together, that this matter will be corrected at the end of the season. Pool City will cover...

the expense of refilling the pool upon completion of the service.I believe this will properly address this matter. Sincerely,Mark [redacted]Pool City Director of Service and Installation

It was just fixed today. The 24th. But to call the store to ask anyone they're not friendly. Repairman had made the comment that "it's just such a far drive". Had to fight them to get it done. If it wouldn't have been for calling and asking the status of my repair I would guarentee that we'd still be waiting.

After looking into this matter, it appears that an installer has contacted and arranged for installation of Ms. [redacted]s pool. We assigned an installer that inspected the site on August 11th. Ms. [redacted] did not like what this installer told them about the additional digging that was needed t in...

order to complete a level pool. On Monday August 15th, Pool City sent another installer who found the original installer's findings correct. At this time, the installer and customer are on the same page and as soon as this weather pattern leaves the Greater Pittsburgh area we will be able to resume installations.

Ms. [redacted],We dispatched a service man to the [redacted]'s residence and removed the remaining liner that was left behind. This was completed on Thursday October 8th.Mark B[redacted]Pool City

First, I would like to say that I was the gentleman that she spoke to. I certainly did not feel I was being rude but apologize if that is how I came across. The floor of a pool is prepared the same, the sand is laid, it is smoothed out and the liner is installed over it. I stated that I am sure that...

this process was used during the initial install or I am certain that we would have been notified by the consumer. I was told that there was no issue after installation and that they closed the pool and did not open it this past summer (2016). Upon opening it this summer they have discovered this condition. It is a far stretch to assume that this was the result of the installer. With my many years of experience I cannot understand how this can be attributed to the installers responsibility?I have asked one of our installers to visit the site to see what can be done to remedy this matter for this consumer. We do this as a courtesy. We still do not believe this was a result of improper workmanship. The workmanship warranty extends for one (1) year beyond the installation. Clearly we are beyond that time frame.Mark B[redacted] Director of Service and Installation

Mr. [redacted] has been offered a replacement wall at no charge. Under the provisions of the manufacturer's warranty his responsibility would have been $998.00. Pool City chose to cover this amount. The damage to his wall was caused exactly as [redacted] described it to him. Customers do not understand how...

damaging a small hole in a liner can be to the structure of the pool. A small hole generally does not allow enough water to leave the pool in order to draw attention. Left unattended the wall deteriorates from the inside out. This will be easy to identify when the work is done, regardless of if that is Pool City or any other pool company. If there is any concern about possible water loss there are leak detection companies that can assist homeowners with that type of issue. All Mr. [redacted] has been asked to cover is the liner, which is the initial source of the problem, and the labor, which there is no coverage. Unfortunately, this is the best that we can do for Mr. [redacted]. All pool companies deal with the same manufacturers. These are their warrant procedures. By covering the cost of the wall we felt we were going beyond our obligations for this customer.

So I can make it clear, any miscommunication that occurs between an customer and a place of business would be the fault of the business, as they are the ones providing the service and product.  Mr. B[redacted] is correct when he says that I am citing line #1 on page 2 of the preparation guide.  He is also correct that #10 indicates the ground must be level.  The issue is not with the ground being level, instead, the issue is with the one side of the hole where the retaining wall is needed.  I can understand how he would be unclear as to why Pool City is being held responsible, as there is a definite [redacted] of communication amongst everyone who should be working together to make the pool installation go smoothly.  As stated earlier, we were very clear in saying that we needed a professional to tell us what needed done in order to install the pool since it was our first pool purchase and our yard was sloped.  We were told that it would not be a problem. They happily took our deposit, and then the trouble began. One of the biggest reasons we decided to go with a different excavator is because we were blown off for almost two weeks after the first call from Mr. B[redacted].  He called  on Thursday, March 30 to say he would be out the very next day.  Since he was obviously not going to bother with us, we called Pool City on April 11th to find out where he was.  We asked Sandy L[redacted] for another installer to do the work, but was told that there was not another one available.  This was our main reason for using another excavator. It would have been a great idea to have someone discuss the issues that could arise from using another excavator when we indicated that we were thinking of using someone else.  Furthermore, saying "we cannot consult an outside excavator" would have been an excellent and acceptable answer to provide before we dug.  It's a little late to say that after we dug.  A Pool City employee marked the pool, and our excavator followed his direction.  Does that make the connection any more clear?  We could have spoke about this with Mr. B[redacted]; however, he never returned any of our calls. Again, had Mr. B[redacted], head of installation, ever followed up on this job, he would be very clear how the conversation about the retaining wall materialized. As Mr. B[redacted] mentioned, and even though he says it is not normal in the business, Mr. B[redacted] told our excavator to do the dig as discussed.  After that, Mr. B[redacted] came to our house and spoke about the retaining wall.  We were told that Mr. B[redacted] was going to come to talk about options, but for over a week, he never came or even called.    Once again, we never got a quote.  Mr. B[redacted] was supposed to give us a quote for the retaining wall, but he called and said he couldn't do the wall because his equipment couldn't handle the large blocks needed to build the wall.  Mr. B[redacted] should have known this, but once again, there was a [redacted] of communication. I am sorry that it is difficult for Pool City to understand these issues, as they obviously face challenges with communication.  I am happy to answer any more questions that Mr. B[redacted] has because it is evident that he never followed up on this issue himself.  In the meantime, I will be sharing these messages with everyone I know so they can avoid Pool City.

[The pool was fine all summer long. A leak from the end of summer to January would not have caused rust to the pool wall and the total opposite side of the wall.  The product that they are selling is not an appropriate quality for the price.  Also having to pay $300 for a liner that has been used normally and gets a hole in it after 2 years once again shows the quality of their product.  And shows product is defective or poor quality.  I should not have to pay $750 for labor that I already overpaid them to do the first time.  The hard work is already done and would take 2 hours at the most.  $375 an hour is ridiculous when they won’t hook anything up and won’t fill the pool to make the installation was done properly.   Also how don’t I know the installers didn’t cause the leak 2 years ago when they put the pool up and left without filling or testing anything.  That seems more reasonable that rust would develop than 3 months. So I want an F rating for this business.   They are taking no responsibility for their product and overcharging on everything.

Cottman left o2 sensor loose after fixing transmission. I drove with nonfunctioning o2 sensor for two weeks. Now my catalytic converter has failed.I had my transmission fixed by Cottman on April 12, 2015. I drove my car for almost two weeks until check engine light came on April 20, and the diagnostic tool gave me the code for a bad o2 sensor. I bought a new o2 sensor and when I went to try and change it, it was so loose that it was practically falling out of its socket. Cottman had failed to screw it back in all the way after replacing my transmission, resulting in a malfunctioning o2 sensor. I took it back to Cottman and told them that they left out the o2 sensor, which the manager, [redacted] admitted fault to, and I asked if they could replace it with the new one I bought, which they did and I took the car home. Then, on June 1, the check engine light came on again. I ran the diagnostic and it gave me a "P0420 - catalyst system efficiency below threshold bank 1" code. This is indicative of a failed catalytic converter. The number one reason why a catalytic converter fails is due to a bad or malfunctioning o2 sensor, and I had driven my car for two weeks with a non-functioning o2 sensor because Cottman didn't screw it back in when fixing my transmission. Therefore, I contend that Cottman is responsible for my failed catalytic converter.I told Cottman about the new problem and they refuse to even diagnose the problem, let alone fix it. They said that they think that my catalytic converter failed because "of the age of my vehicle" (It is a 2003 with 140,000 miles). They don't think that their failure to properly put the o2 sensor back in caused the catalytic converter to fail. I realize that they specialize in transmissions rather than o2 sensors and catalytic converters, but according to experts who do specialize in catalytic converters and o2 sensors, driving a car for two weeks without a properly functioning o2 sensor is the number one cause of a bad catalytic converter. The transmission is covered under a 12,000 mile, 1-year warranty, and I believe that any additional damage resulting from their transmission work should be covered. But [redacted] from Cottman refuses to do so.Desired SettlementI would say that I would like Cottman to diagnose and fix the problem, but I have lost all faith in Cottman and no longer trust them. Therefore, I would like Cottman to pay for another mechanic to diagnose and repair the catalytic converter problem.Business Response /[redacted]/This customer had his transmission rebuilt by us the second week of April of this year. The vehicle, a 2003 Honda Civic was picked up by the customer on April 11, 2015, with 139796 miles on the odometer. This transaction was unusual in that 50% of the invoice was paid for by an auto body shop which had sold the customer the vehicle back in February, 2015. The customer told us that the shop that sold the car to him felt bad that he was having trouble so they agreed to pay half the bill. On several occasions the customer called and/or brought the vehicle back to us complaining that the transmission was slipping on a down shift. We were never able to duplicate such a problem including times when the customer went on a test drive with a technician and still no problems could be detected. Ultimately, the customer called the customer service department at the Cottman home office with the same complaintat which time he was offered the opportunity to take the vehicle to the Honda dealer to have the transmission diagnosed and that if a problem existed we would pay the diagnostic fee and fix whatever was detected wrong. He would not accept the offer. At no time during this conversation with us and the home office was any mention made of the problem he is addressing now in the complaint made here. He has accused us of failing to properly attach an O2 sensor and that that has resulted in a the failure of his catalytic converter. In removing and reinstalling the transmission we did not affect the catalytic converter or any of the sensors. As with any other customer for the past 17 years, if we felt in any way responsible for the customers complaint we would certainly accommodate them. In this case, dealing with a 12 year old wrecked vehicle from a body shop, with 139000 miles on it, and doing nothing with the vehicle except the transmission (which is all we do) we will have to decline this customer'srequest.Consumer Response /[redacted]/My complaint with the Revdex.com has nothing to do with the transmission slipping during downshift. I feel Cottman is getting two separate issues confused. In fact, they have outright lied in their response. My complaint is strictly regarding Cottman's admitted failure to replace the o2 sensor. [redacted] from Cottman admitted to me that his mechanics accidentally left the o2 sensor out of its socket after repairing the transmission, and then he agreed to put a new one in for me (which I paid for) free of charge.Cottman claims, "At no time during this conversation with us and the home office was any mention made of the problem he is addressing now in the complaint made here." This statement is so far from the truth that it pains me.After my catalytic converter died because of me driving for two weeks with a malfunctioning o2 sensor, I called [redacted] at Cottman and Cottman corporate specifically to address the issue of the catalytic converter. The transmission slipping was a side issue that I also mentioned, but the catalytic converter was the main reason I called, and to say otherwise is ludicrous. I know that corporate has this phone call recorded, and the local Cottman also records phone calls, so maybe we should reference that to hear the truth.

Review: On Nov 11,2014 I went to Cottman Transmission in Laplace because I had a Coupon for reduced Oil Changes. My 2012 Ram Truck was making a whirring noise that was fairly loud. Robert, the manager told me he could fix this by changing out the front left & right wheel bearings. He said this would cost me about $841.57. I asked him 3 times if he was sure this would fix the problem and he insisted changing the bearings would stop the noise. Well, after keeping my Truck for 3 days he finally changed the bearings. When I went to pick up my truck it was still on the rack. [redacted] said there is another noise that you have to take care of. Actually there was the same noise. It is my opinion that the bearings did not need changing. I brought the Truck to Riverlands Dodge in Laplace and they changed a bearing in the rear end. This was the problem the whole time. There was no charge because my Transmission was still under Warranty. I tried getting a refund from Cottman, but [redacted] refused. I still have 3 free Oil changes on my coupon but he always has an excuse why he cannot do the oil change. He is a very conniving man!!Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of the $841.57 he charged me for the bearings that were not bad!!

Review: It is with great regret that I am in such an uncompromising position to file this claim. Due to an unsatisfying experience at Cottman Total Auto Care and Transmission of Winston Salem I have no choice but to file this complaint. On February 6th 2015 I had my car picked up by a Cottman worker. On February 11th I received a call from the owner Susan who was explaining to me that the cost of a used transmission with a 2 month warranty would cost me $1425.59. When I explained to her that I did not want to pay that price for a used transmission she became upset and very defensive and that alone was very unprofessional. She informed me that she was going to charge me $60.00 only for towing and she would charge me $489.00 for labor which in my knowledge and in the knowledge of other mechanics with whom I have spoken with say that that amount for labor alone is a rip off. After paying $554.00 in total to Cottman I had my car moved to another mechanic who informed me that the transmission was never removed from the car. When I got a second and third opinion from other mechanics they pronounced the same. Therefore they stole $489.00 from me for labor that they never did. I would like to receive my money back for the fact that they did not do their job.Desired Settlement: I would like to received $600.00 in total $60.00 for towing and $489.00 for the labor that they did not do and pain and suffering from Cottman for not giving me the promised service that I deserved.

Review: I was deliberately lied to concerning the problem with my car. I took it in to have diagnostics performed on my transmission. Several hours later I get a call from [redacted] the "manager" indicating I needed a new timing belt and water pump. Well my car has a timing chain, so then I was told she needed to verify what was wrong with it. I get a call 10 minutes later and she tells me my timing chain broke when the mechanic started the car, so my my car won't start or move out of the parking space and that means I need a new motor and her next sentence was do you want me to price you a motor. I responded, NO I don't need a price quote how did you determine all this without looking under the hood? I tell her to leave my car alone I will have it towed to my mechanic. I get there with [redacted] to tow the car, magically the car starts and is driven right there in the parking lot. I ask them to clarify what exactly was wrong with my car, and she and the mechanic seem to dumbfounded. She then tells me something "wacky" is going on and you are "afraid to touch it"...Really? I said some not so nice words and indicated I did not appreciate being lied to and wasting my time when you clearly did not even attempt to see what was wrong with my car. I called [redacted] who actually referred me to these ripoffs and indicated how crappy the service was and he says we have heard that from a few other customers..Really? And you are still referring people to them?Desired Settlement: Reimbursed for my time from work I had to take off, inconvenience, and gas wasted on dealing with these people. This equals to approximately $85.

Response:

To: Whom it may Concern

This customer came in for a free transmission evaluation we tried to move the car into our facility for the free check and the car shut off, and would not start back. There was no charge for this free service. We told her we would do a transmission check. Her problem was not the transmission. We are a transmission repair facility not a general repair shop. She was referred by a general repair shop because they could not determine what was wrong with the car. We simply gave her our suspicions. The engine was spinning free as if it had no compression this is usually a timing issue.

We conveyed this information to the customer. We then explained that her problems were larger than we were equipped to handled and suggested she find another repair shop. We also told her that if she had broken a timing set with 234879 miles on her engine it would most likely need replaced. We never performed or charged her to perform a diagnostic.

In close she came to us for a free service that we were unable to perform. Due to the nature of her failure. The customer expressed that she was upset that we would not diagnose her engine problem at no charge. The evaluation we perform at no charge requires her engine to be operational so that we may perform a road test. Since her engine was not operational no Diagnostics were performed. We make no claim or guarantee to perform a free engine diagnostics. so at this time we are not inclined to pay her $85.00 for letting us attempt a free service

Sincerely

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved]

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: the business lied that the car would not startup, when in actually the car started only 2 hours later when I went to pick it up. The car was turned off and restarted and driven after they said it wouldn't. The tow truck driver which I had called due to the lie I was told that the car would not start started the car and drove it himself in their parking lot! It actually drove for 2 more days after that without a problem and I have witnesses to that including 2 additional repairmen. If the car was never looked at or diagnosed how could they determine it was the timing? Or how could you make any assumption when NOTHING was done regardless if it was free or not! I feel these people wasting a complete day of my time, interfering with my time at work and a waste of gas and resources that I had to provide due to them telling me, who I thought was a reputable company that the car was inoperable! The car has been repaired, it was NOT the timing nor the transmission which I am sure they could have told me if the car was actually diagnosed.
