County Waste of Virginia & Pennsylvania

Approximately three years ago County Waste Purchased another trash company and I was approached by the sales person from County Waste to solicit my business . This sales person's name is *** her cell phone number is *** . She had informed me that I would have to sign a 3 year service contract to start service . I never like to sign contracts for services I don't believe that a business should make people sign contracts if they are providing fair and honest service . So after about 30 minutes of debate with *** she told me she would knock it down to a 2 year contract only . I agreed and signed for the two years . Well this was in approx. April of 2015 and now in the last several months County Waste has been needlessly been raising their prices and adding fuel surcharges and I decided to go to s new company . When I was finally able to reach Rebecca she informed me that I had a rollover contract ??? Well I informed her that we had no such agreement and I never signed anything relating to that . I would of never signed that and she knows I didn't want to sign any contract . I was not informed of this clause nor was I notified of any expiration dates or clauses of any kind . This is deceitful and unfair business practices and I do not know how the law allows a company to do this to a consumer especially one who so persistently objected to signing any contract then conveniently neglects to tell the consumer about this ???

COUNTY WASTE CAME TO MY DOOR AND SOLICITED A NON RESIDENT TO SIGN A CONTRACT FOR SERVICE

I AM THE HOME OWNER AND NEVER REQUESTED THE SERVICE AND DO NOT WANT THERE SERVICE

In May of 2017 I had a salesperson come to my door to solicit County Waste services. He informed me their rate was $8 a month cheaper than my current provider, so I agreed to sign up for their service. He had me sign a year long agreement as well as a document giving them authority to discontinue service from my current providers upon completion of the current quarterly cycle. County Waste began picking up my trash in July of 2017.
In October of 2017 I was charged my quarterly fee from my previous provider of approximately $100. I contacted them to inquire as to why I was still being charged. They informed me that they had received the notice from County Waste that I would like to discontinue service, however, they rejected the request because they were a third-party and deemed not authorized to make the cancellation. County Waste never contacted me to make me aware of this matter. When I contacted them and discussed the matter they offered no reimbursement for the bill and no remorse and acted like the burden was on me.
As I tried to get this sorted out, my previous provider agreed to match the discounted rate that County Waste had offered me, as well as credit me the $150 cancellation fee that County Waste was going to charge me because I had a one year contract agreement. Great customer service. They also advised me that although County Waste had agreed to pick up my recycling as well as my trash, they were not authorized to do so in my area because of an agreement between my township and a provider that was not County Waste. When I asked Country Waste about this, they argued they were authorized. I contacted my local township administration and found that County Waste either lied about this or was not aware, and they are not authorized to pick up recycling in my area.
I have since called County Waste no less than 5 times in a week and a half to cancel my service, every time being told the person I was speaking to was not authorized to do so and transferred to either a contract admin, or "Lou" who is in charge of cancelling agreements, every time to leave a message on their voicemail and then never getting a call back. The last time I called I asked a representative to transfer me to a supervisor or manager of residential accounts because I was extremely unhappy with the customer service and was not getting any cooperation from their associates. I was again transferred to the supervisors voicemail and left a detailed message and stating that I expected a call back the same day to resolve the issues. I received no call back.
Not only was the customer service of County Waste unacceptable, but the way they conducted their business and lack of accuracy of their service offerings, by either willfully lying or being unaware of what services they could provide in what areas, is grounds for legal action. I regret that I switched from my previous provider as they have been gracious and accommodating even though I pursued service from County Waste.
