[redacted] and [redacted] rented a condominium from Crestmont between 1/04/2016 and 01/03/2017. The owner received a notice from the [redacted] regarding excessive water usage in September 2016 (Please see attachment 1). We contacted Mr. [redacted] and said we would like to schedule a walkthrough in...
order to check for running toilets or dripping faucets. He stated that we could not enter his unit. We tried to explain it was to correct an issue with the [redacted]. did not feel comfortable entering his unit with his hostile attitude. Mr. [redacted] called back and informed me that the toilet was running in the guest bathroom and he had turned it off. He also stated that he would pay the extra water charges. The owner called and said he would like to sell the unit. I suggested that we not renew the fease and notified the tenant immediately that we would not be renewing the lease and this was giving them extra notice so they would have more time to look for a new place. Please see attachment 2.He became verbally abusive when he received the notice, informing me that he knew the law and would not move out or pay rent until he left. He said he would move out in March. At this point we felt our hands were tied. The owner was concerned about damage to the property if we forced the tenants to move out on January 3. So we agreed to the March move out date.On December 30, 2016 Mr. [redacted] called and said he had moved out and he wanted his move out inspection, and final walk through of the unit. He again became verbally abusive when f asked why he had not let us know he was not moving in March, as we agreed to. He requested the move out inspection be scheduled for January 3, 2017, and at that time they would be returning the keys. [redacted] was told that [redacted], our project manager would attend the move out inspection in order to assess the water issue, as was concerned about the unit. The first thing noticed when entering the condominium was the stains on the carpet and the "pet" smell. [redacted] insisted that the stains were like that when he moved in. also pointed out that lightbulbs were burnt out, again, he stated that they were out when he moved in. Please See attachment 4, the move in check list that he signed stating that light bulbs were in working order and no stains on the stairs were noted.During the walkthrough [redacted] verbaily attached me twice while he was videotaping the entire inspection, [redacted] told him to stop using foul language towards me or we would leave. They left items in the unit and asked that we stay out of the unit of the unit until 12:00 AM January 3, 2017. We Complied, and the items were not removed and they kept a garage door opener. The items left were a plastic chair, two overflowing trash bins, cleaning products and a bottle of wine. When asked him for his forwarding address he refused to give it to me. We took the keys when [redacted] left and put them into a lockbox on the front door.Regards,[redacted]
