Cross States Moving Services Reviews (%countItem)

I moved a couple weeks ago and used Northstar movers - it was a great move. This is my second move in the last 3 years. My previous move - with a different company - was a terrible experience. I made sure to do my research this time around and chose these guys. They arrived on time, were friendly and communicative, worked very efficiently and made the whole process seamless. They worked seamlessly with each other packing, loading and delivering my valuables without any issues. There was not a single item that suffered any damages during the course of this move and their prices are very affordable too. I will definitely be calling them if/when the need arises in the future.

This company is a scam. First of all, they doubled the quoted estimate upon arrival even though I had the exact number of boxes on the estimate. Second of all, I've never seen such a sloppy, careless packing job. They did not wrap anything, even though I begged them to. I was literally standing right there about to cry, begging them to please wrap my items. They threw my stuff into boxes with no care at all for the contents. Third, I was promised my boxes would arrive in a week. It has been well over, and they say now that it could be 21 more business days! That is insane. My husband has a business trip to Poland, and he has no winter jacket or boots. I only brought a weeks worth of items on the plane. My daughter's medical nebulizer, all our kitchen supplies, all our clothes, everything we need is being held hostage. The sales person, ***, lied about literally everything in order to get my business: the price, the time for arrival, the way the items would be packed. Fourth, this company is stealing the name of a well known and very good moving company called North Star that I've used in the past, and this is the company I thought I was hiring. How they can get away with this, I have no idea. I'm considering a lawsuit against them for impersonating this company, and lying to customers in order to get their business, then changing everything upon arrival and doing the job.

We are very sorry to see this negative review from Edith C made with Revdex.com. Firstly we are very sorry that we did not meet this customer's expectations despite our staff operated professionally and in accordance with the contracted terms and conditions. We would like to provide some explanations regarding this customer's order. The customer requested the estimate for 10 dish boxes, 20 medium size boxes, 12 large boxes, 10 small boxes and 10 extra large boxes. Our movers were supposed to pack customer's miscellaneous stuff in the boxes that she provided. So they did. They did wrap the breakable and gentle items, dishes in the paper before putting them in the boxes, gently put clothes in wardrobe boxes, and the rest of the items the movers packed in safest way. The volume of the move went up for 2/3 as despite the number of the boxes was the same, the size was different - there were no small boxes at all, there were about 20 medium size boxes and the rest were large and extra large boxes. Also, there were few furniture items not listed in the estimate. But Mrs. Cohn agreed with all the changes when the foreman went over the inventory with her, and signed all the paperwork. We also agreed to provide additional service to the customer at no extra charge. The customer asked to move the furniture around her 2-store house and between the floors and our movers helped them for free. In the end of the pickup the customer was happy and even tipped our movers for a good service. The problem with this move appeared few days after the pickup when Mrs. called to the office to get the update on the delivery and the shipment was still in the warehouse. The customer was advised that the order supposed to be loaded on the truck 1-2 days after. The pickup was done on March, 13. The customer claimed that their first date available for delivery would be on March 15. By the estimate (contract signed by the customer upon booking this order) the first date indicated as available for delivery, is the first date of the delivery window and not the promised delivery date. All long distance deliveries are made on a flexible basis with an estimated arrival time up to 21 business days per customer's first available delivery date. Mrs. is moving from Chapel Hill, NC to Playa Vista, CA that makes 2500 miles from pickup to delivery location. We were not able to ship the truck from coast to coast with just 1 order of 500 cf on the board. We had to work on the schedule, to build the route for the truck and to load this shipment on the delivery truck together with the other shipments that were going from East to West Coast and along the way. For each long distance shipment the time frame between pickup and loading the shipment on the delivery truck varies and depends on several factors such as current pickup and delivery schedules, volumes of orders ready for delivery, equipment availability and etc. This order has been shipped out for delivery on March, 25. By the Federal Regulation on hours of service a property carrying commercial motor vehicle driver may drive only 11 hours a day that limits the mileage the driver can drive to about 550 miles a day, and may be on duty for not more then 14 hours a day and has to take 34 consecutive hours off duty after each 7/8 day period. All mentioned above explains why it takes time for long distance shipments to be delivered. But we never breach the contract and deliver all the shipments within contracted terms and do our best to deliver the orders as close to the customer's first date available as possible. The shipment for Mrs. is scheduled for delivery to the customer's house at Playa Vista, CA for today. Upon delivery the driver will take pictures of the customer's shipment so we can provide a prove of the size of the order and quality of packing. Regarding the customer's statement that we are stealing the name of a well known company called North Star we can say the following: there are thousands of moving companies on the market today and many companies have similar names; there are several companies on the market all over the United States with the words North Star in the name; our company NorthStar Movers out of FL never declared any affiliation with or never referred to any other moving company having any of the the same words in the name; we use our own logo, MC and DOT numbers for marketing, on our website, in the contracts, on the equipment etc.. We are a reputable company on the market and we put a lot of effort to ensure that our customers are satisfied with the service we provide.

To further explain, this company stole my information from an online Get a Quote form I filled out for North Star of CA. They then called me saying they were North Star, having all my information, including address where I was moving from & to. I repeat they are impersonating this reputable CA company. When I called the CA North Star they said this happens all the time that people think they have their belongings when it's actually the FL company. When my stuff finally arrived there were so many broken items! Nothing was wrapped! And they stole the first ring (gold with rubies) my husband gave me, a gold watch and a gold Chevron necklace. They are liars and thieves. Do not hire them. I have filed a complaint with the FMCA and the FL attorney general. I will also be filing a police report.

Just used Northstar Movers to move all my stuff and these movers are awesome. They worked around my tight schedule to fit me in and they arrived 10 minutes early. What impressed me the most was their speed and professionalism. The movers are super friendly and went out of their way to ensure everything was done to my satisfaction. Their rates are also the best available. I wouldn't think of using anyone else for my next move.

This company should not be in business. They misquote at first contact. They insist on a deposit. The estimate was increased when I took a large 4 poster bed off the list. Another deposit. They did not show up on Friday as planned, but on Sunday. The driver charged an extra $350 cash up front. They delivered 2 weeks late. They broke a valuable antique sideboard. They broke a wooden corner cabinet. They left me to unpack mirror and painting boxes myself and dispose of the packaging. They delivered 10:30 pm as the dispatcher told them he would not pay for an overnight stay. The pictures were destroyed - glass and frames broken. There were 2 boxes missing. The boxes were delivered wet - upside down, sideways, big boxes crushing little ones. The boxes were all clearly marked "This Way Up" and "Fragile". At lest 25% of the contents of the boxes were broken. Never use this company. I wrote a review on Yelp - and they called and offered me $100 to take the review down. Have never heard from their insurance company. This outfit is not even worth 1 star. Never use them.

Customer Response • Mar 12, 2019

Northstar's claim that I added more items is patently wrong. I actually removed a four poster bed - but the price still increased and required the extra deposit. I never told anyone that the pickup (unscheduled for SUNDAY) went well. It did not go well, as the driver of a e-truck box truck refused to park in the huge loading dock in my building. He also demanded an extra $350 cash up front. The delivery driver who claims to have picked up more than I had packed in Chicago, is very mistaken, as I had 3 chairs and 2 boxes missing, so I would say that would make the load lighter. Northstar's insurance makes no mention of the missing items. I sent the insurance company pictures of all the damage. I received nothing from them in my e-mail, although they claim to have sent a claim settlement e-mail. Finally, today Dispatch from Northstar called me and forwarded their copy of the claim settlement.
Their insurance is claiming they did not received photos of the damage, so I forwarded them a second copy today. As I say, no mention of the lost items. Their claim settlement is a joke. I remain missing 3 expensive chairs; with a broken vintage sideboard and a broken and rendered useless corner cabinet and with the 2 paintings I need to have reframed. Again, would not recommend this company to my worst enemy.

Last week I booked Northstar Movers and they arrived promptly with a team of four. They packed all the items perfectly and got the vehicles loaded efficiently .All the items were in good condition without any problems or breakages. They were very patient and professional. They unloaded promptly putting everything in the correct room with no fuss. All in all got a positive experience and I would recommend this company.

Hello Patsy and thank you for your feedback about your positive experience with us!

The movers were on time, friendly and efficient. They asked questions when they arrived to make sure they understood the scope and the time it would take. I added a couple extra boxes at the end that I forgot about and they were very accommodating. Nothing was broken or damaged when it arrived at the new house. I highly recommend using this company.

Thank you Eason for sharing your good experience with the others. It was a pleasure to provide you the service!

the agent for North Star Movers, assured me North Star Movers would move all my items from Bloomington, IL to Lake Ozark, MO within a 7-10 day period. She emailed me the contract with the quoted estimated price of $1902. She asked for $799.61 down payment by credit card. I agreed to the contract and the money. Due to a glitch, the pick up date was moved 5 days out. The delivery date was a week late. Delivery date was suppose to be 12/3/18 but turned out to be 12/12/18. Also, Ms *** assured me her company, North Star Movers, would do the job. Instead, North Star Movers hired Mr. *** of My Chicago Moving to pick up my items in a rental truck. When the items were delivered on 12/12/18, nearly every item was broken, damaged, destroyed, or missing, approximately 45 boxes out of 60 boxes plus a flat screen TV, a large coffee table, a roll top desk, an office desk chair, and a 5'safe. It was horrible! While Mr. men were unloading my items, I was texting Mr. pictures of the items being unloaded. One of the missing items was my office desk chair valued at approximately $200. I asked where the chair was, and the movers simply said, "We don't know." Mr. NEVER returned ANY of my texts or phone calls. I then went back to North Star Movers and spoke to numerous people about the incident. Each person I talked to promised to file a complaint for me and get my belongings or a reimbursement. I sent Ms Wright the pictures of the items; she never replied. I finally talked to a man named *** at North Star Movers who said he would look into the matter. Finally, after dodging me for nearly two weeks, *** told me I could file a complaint, but the most I would get would be .60/pound because of the contract I had. He said the broken, damaged, and missing items were, for all practical purposes, my problem, not his. I asked for him to do the right thing and reimburse me for at least the office desk chair, or have Mr. do so. Zero!

Desired Outcome

Billing Adjustment I want North Star Movers along with the subcontractor My Chicago Moving to reimburse me for the broken, damaged, destroyed, and missing items. I see the total being approximately $1000.

Customer filed a complaint about not being able to get in touch with one of our contractual agent that service his pick up and delivery in order to file a claim for damages. Customer service and the customer updated agent of customer request to file a claim on 12/13/2018. North Star spoke to agent's office on 12/14/2018 which agent told us that they will have their claims dept. get in touch with customer. We contacted customer on 12/17/2018 to verify if he was yet contacted by agent's office about filing claim, customer said not as yet. We tried getting in touch with agent claims dept. on 01/25/2019 and 02/04/2018 with no luck for the customer. We apologized to customer and updated that we will then be sending customer our claim form for customer to file a claim through our claims dept. instead.

I went on accepted the CFA CPS claim. I've received a check for $76 from North Star Movers. I don't think it was a fair settlement, but I didn't see any practical legal options.

Thanks for your help.

The worst move I ever had, every piece of furniture damaged, didnt arrive on time for delivery, managed to loose 4 tall clothing boxes, full sized bed frame and quilt,I never recieved any effort on their part to try to recover my items they lost and was totally ignored by the insurance co,they never answered my call or returned my calls, AVOID using them for your move!!!!

We are very sorry to hear that this customer remained unhappy with our service. This job has been picked up and delivered on time. The customer's first date available for delivery was 08/30/2018 and the order was delivered on the following day in the afternoon. We picked up this order from another moving company that kept the customer's stuff in "as is" condition. Anyway, the customer never reported any damages to us. Over a month after delivery, on 10/18/2018 the customer called in to report few missing boxes, but never mentioned about the bed frame and the quilt. We conducted an investigation to find the missing boxes, but were unable to locate them. We reported to the customer that the boxes have not been found and emailed instructions for filing a claim with our 3rd party claims department on 11/07/2018. Since then the customer never contacted our office to get updates for the status of the claim or to inform that something went wrong with her claim application (before making this statement we checked the phone call logs for the past 90 days). Otherwise, we would definitely help the customer to resolve the issue. Our customer service department is available 9 am-5 pm EST. We will contact the customer to resolve the problem.

I stand by what I said, potential customers need to be warned!,,!

Northstar movers lost and damaged several items of mine about $800 dollars worth and only willing to reimburse $30 dollars.
I hired Northstar movers to move all my belonging from Ooltewah TN to Lynnwood WA on November 7th. On November 15th several items of mine was lost and damaged about $800 dollars worth. The items were a box of clothes, rotisserie oven, professional chef knives, kitchen utensils, living room end table, broken lamp and water cooler. In the process of filling out the claim I made a typo and when I called to try to correct it they would not let me. Therefore Northstar movers are only tiring to give me $30 dollars for $800 dollars worth of items that were lost or stolen. I don't feel that it is right that they can lose, damage or steal your property and don't have to fairly reimburse the customer.

Desired Outcome

I would like to be reimburse for the items that was lost and broken or have credit applied back to my credit card of fair value. I'm requesting the company pay $600 for the missing and damaged items.

Customer informed us that after delivery they discovered some items broker. We instructed the customer how to file a claim in order to get compensation. At the day of the order pickup the customer waived full (replacement) value protection that costs additional money and signed under the the 60 cents per pound per article protection that is included for free. In this case the amount for compensation was calculated based on the weight of the broken items. After the customer got the settlement letter from our 3rd party claims department, they never contacted our office to express their disagreement or to discuss the situation. We will contact the customer asap.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
In regards to value protection I wasn't aware of what I was signing and it wasn't explained to me. Also I did reach out but I was instructed to contact the 3rd party who told me they couldn't help me. Lastly nobody contacted me

Did not fulfill contract obligations and overcharged.
In preparation for my move from Akron, OH to Ft Lauderdale FL, I searched ***'s List and this company came up as recommended. I then checked the Revdex.com site and at the time they had an A- rating. "***" called and did an estimate which came to approximately $3100, In a future call, I inquired re adding my formal dining room and he said he would be another $500. I agreed. They were to pick me up 11/8 or 9 and *** told me they should have no problem arriving in Ft Lauderdale by 11/14, 15 at the outside. They called Monday 11/5 to confirm contact information. They said I would be called Wednesday 11/7 to confirm. When no call came by 4 pm I called them. I was told they were still working on the schedule for Thursday and if they were indeed coming Thursday, I would receive a call. No call came so I assumed Friday 11/9. Thursday morning I received a call at 10 am telling me they would be there between 3-5. Later that day I received another call, saying NO, it would be Friday 8-10 am. They finally arrived at 11:15 and the head driver, *** insight of 10 minutes went through my home and told me it was going to cost twice what ***'s second estimate was. BAIT AND SWITCH. Then I was told I had to pay in full before they would load the truck and if I used a credit card, it would be about another $300. After scrambling to come up with that much cash, they put an incredible amount of paper in front of me, here sign this, sign that. The driver then told me it was highly unlikely they would arrive in Ft Lauderdale by 11/14 or 15, but by contract, they had to deliver by Monday 11/19. I called the office Wednesday 11/14, Thursday 11/15 and Friday 11/16 and was absolutely promised delivery on Sunday 11/18 and told I would receive a call on Saturday 11/17 confirming the time. NO CALL. I finally went back through my cell phone and found the driver's number and called. He told me it would be at least Tuesday 11/20, possibly Wednesday 11/21 (the day before Thanksgkiving) and he would call. The office was totally unresponsive. I made all the calls and was basically told nothing. Finally at some late afternoon hour on Tuesday, 11/20 I got a call from the driver telling me it would be Wednesday 8 am. They finally arrived at 9:30. Re the billing issues, I asked the person in the office, who said he would look over the paperwork around Nov 14th. Still waiting for a response, then I emailed ***, basically telling him all of the above and telling him I did have a few things that were not in the estimate, but nothing close to doubling the price. I am still waiting for his response. I told him a good business operates under the assumption that if your satisfied tell others, if not, tell us and requested a substantial refund. This was the move from ***. These people are dishonest manipulators who are only interested in the bottom line. With absolutely no response after over a month, I am submitting this to the Revdex.com for help. I feel they owe me a substantial amount of money and an apology.

Desired Outcome

I feel I was overcharged by at least $2000.

Thank you for your efforts in this matter. I just spoke with the Florida Attorney General's office and will be filing formal complaints with her office and and as she directed, The Florida Dept of Agriculture and Consumer Services. If you wish to relay this to North Star Movers, you have my blessing.

Moving company broke, damaged and lost our goods when delivered. Filed for reimbursements through their insurance. They denied our claim.
We made a contract with Excalibur Moving Group in July-2018 to move our goods and furniture from Orlando FL to Warrenton VA. On 07/25/2018 North Star Movers contacted us to inform us that they will be picking up our goods on 07/27/2018. They arrived on an Enterprise van not a van with NSM logo. The van was half full with another client's goods. The driver had to call to ask one of his friends for a second van to accommodate our goods. We showed concerns about the condition of our goods as they were split between two separate vans. The driver assured us that if anything happens we can file a claim through their insurance and we will get reimbursed any lost or broken items. Excalibur Moving Group at XXX-XXX-XXXX gave us an estimate of $5400.00 and charged us $1880.00 ahead of time before the picked up. They asked for the remaining balance at the time of pick up. When NSM( they are also under King David *** Line *** at XXX-XXX-XXXX) arrived on 07/27/2018 they asked for additional $2600.00 or they would not pick up our goods. We called Excalibur to make inquiries about the additional fee, they said if we cancel our deposit of $1880.00 will not be refunded. So, we had no option but agreeing to pay more to get our goods to be loaded to their truck. Our goods and furniture were all packed and ready to be shipped as we already sold our home and had to leave and vacant the property by the deadline.. The driver's name was *** at XXX-XXX-XXXX. On 09/08/2018, once again with an Enterprise van, another driver who would not deliver our goods and furniture unless we paid him the balance of $$3039.00 up front in full and in partial cash and partial Money Order. We had to agree to pay before unloading their truck. We paid, so they would bring in our goods to the house. We found many broken items including chairs, tables and boxes of dishes, all broken. The driver actually dropped a wall table in front of us. When we expressed our concerns, he said no problem just add it to the claim and submit it to the attention of *** M. *** at Move Smart Move Management LLC at P.O.Box 3 Malden MA XXXXX with Cell# XXX-XXX-XXXX. We immediately forwarded all photos of broken and missing goods as well as a copy of all payments and documents along with a completed claim form via email. Her email is: ***@movingclaimservices.com. *** confirmed and acknowledged our emails and records and documents on 10/15/2018 via email. On 11/15/2018 we received an email from *** that with regrets she will no longer handle our claim as her contract with North Star Movers has expired. She sent us back to NSM from that point on. We called NSM several times, left many messages and asking to get a call back for direction as who would take care of our claim from that point on. Since 11/15/2018, we have not heard anything from NSM. I have also sent emails and made many calls but have not received not even a single phone call back from NSM. NSM which also goes by the name of King David Van Line INC has failed to comply with their promises and has caused us approximately $5400.00 of damage and also they lost 4 legs for our formal dinning table. We have moved in past, but this was the most stressful time and moving experience we ever had. They have created much emotional damages. At this time we are requesting to bring this matter to a satisfactory conclusion.

Desired Outcome

We are asking to bring this matter to a satisfactory and fair resolution as soon as possible. We have reached out to Excalibur Moving Group at X-XXX-XXX-XXXX, North Star Movers at X-XXX-XXX-XXXX as well as King David Van Lines at *** Lauderdale FL XXXXX at XXX-XXX-XXXX and *** at XXX-XXX-XXXX. They have given us nothing but runaround. We have no idea who else to contact . Please help us resolve this matter as soon as possible. Thank you.

Subject: Re: Revdex.com Complaint Case# *** (Ref#XXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XX-XXXX)
To:

Not all of my furniture was delivered on 11/5/18 and despite multiple requests and communications, the company has not delivered the remainder.
My household was packed up by Northstar Movers (out of Hollywood, FL) on 10/30/18. I moved from Destin, FL to OFallon, MO The items were taken to a "warehouse" and repacked on another truck for delivery on 11/6/18.
It was obvious the delivery truck was smaller than the pickup truck. My mattresses and a few other items were packed outside the truck on the platform. Of note the mattresses were wet from the weather.
During the unloading I was notified by the driver that there were approx 20 items left at warehouse. He showed me a picture on his phone and it was marked on his paper work. He told me I would be contacted by friday (11/9) regarding delivery of these missing items.
Of note - the company was paid in full despite not delivering all my items.
Key missing pieces include the pedestal to my table, the headboard to by platform bed, missing pieces to my stereo cabinet/fireplace, outdoor glider, a four level storage shelf and many other small items. Replacement costs would be around $4800.00 for the list I have so far.
I have called them 2-3 times a week requesting delivery date - and have been told they are working on it, it's up to the drivers, it's loaded on the truck, *** will call me..... This last time I called I was told by *** - there was nothing she could do and *** in customer service proceeded to yell at me about calling, stating they weren't going to sell my items (something I never stated) and that every time I call he has to document my call and he gets questioned by his bosses. That I should stop calling every 5 minutes and I would be notified when they can bring my items.
I find it unbelievable that a moving company can't control their drivers or the schedule - but of course they are paid in full - so what's the hurry?
This is the first step of my complaints and if not resolved quickly - will go up the chain to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. I'm so frustrated - I tried the easy way of calling, am now using this review.
An Update of contact: On 11/20/18 I emailed Northstar Movers requesting an expected delivery date and was responded to by email within 10 min by *** manager that the next truck was going oout in the next 1-2 days and I would hear from them.
On Thursday 11/22/18, I had not heard from the company and emailed *** requesting an update. She responded on 11/23/18 stating the Thanksgiving holiday was an off day for the drivers but I would definitely hear in 1-2 days and that my order was the first to go out.
Toda, 11/26/18, I am being told after I called and spoke to ***, that my stuff is loaded (I've been told that before), but waiting on the driver's schedule.
Tomorrow will be 21 days since the first scheduled delivery data and 28 days since my belongings were packed. I am now escalating to the Better Business Burea.

Estimated replace costs are approx $5000.00.

Desired Outcome

I want the remainder of my items delivered - free of moving damage.

This is all the same I have received withou action. There is no point in going further as I will not receive my belongings or reimbursement from them above the 60cents per pound. Which will not cover my losses. Since they are not a member of the Revdex.com I give up and will go with my satisfaction reviews.

I received a call from a representative of the company two nights ago asking me to remove my posting of their performance as it was hurting their business. After a discussion they asked that I complete the form indicating missing or damaged items but would not confirm that they would reimburse me for the cost of replacement only $.60 a pound.

The additional compensation was $100. I told them I would think about it as it would take alit if time on my part and I didn't feel confident it would be worth my time. They also asked if I would take my review down before conclusion of the process.

Of note my headboard would need to weigh 1000 pounds at $.60 a pound to cover the replacement cost. I'm not gonna waste my time pulling all this information to get $.60 a pound plus $100 compensation from this joke company.

I did get an interesting comment from a Yelp member saying the Florida district attorney is investigating this company. Don't know that it's true but they sent me several links to access.

They seemed more interested in getting my review taken down then really responding to my needs and improving the performance of their company. To this day no one has given me the information regarding the warehouse search for my stuff. I would rather have my belongings then have to go through all of this to get little to no compensation to cover replacement.

If you look at their reviews out there you'll see there are many more people unhappy with their service.

Worst most stressful situation I have ever found myself in. I wouldn't wish this on no one!!
I have been mislead and lied to the entire time. I was even under the impression at times they were holding my belongings for ransom. I still haven't received my things and honestly don't expect to. I have had to but all knew bedroom suite because I figure it cheaper and easier. I don't know how they can operate like this and stay in business. If there is no law on the books to stop this from happening they should be.

Desired Outcome

Return of my personal property at a discounted rate.

This response in regards to customer *** that was already moved. customer filed a report with the D.O.T. and Revdex.com about his delivery for his move being delayed. respond to the D.O.T complaint. We offered customer compensation for the delivery delay customer refused and said that he will not remove his review he prefers to keep it up. Customer was pick up on 11/01 and was looking for same day or next day delivery. We delivered on 11/12. Our contract states that a move this distance could take up 3-5 days for delivery based on the driver's route and other pick ups and deliveries that driver have.

Moving from Charleston, SC to Roan Mountain, TN. Driver refused to drive last 2 *** down gravel road to house.
Initial estimate for move was $3800.00. I was required to pay half up-front. The mover arrives and claims that the estimated space requirement for the truck would only cover half of the inventoried furniture. The driver started asking "what do you want me to leave" as his helper were busily disassembling and placing pads on everything he could find. The driver said that the only way he would take all of the originally inventoried furniture was if I paid him an extra $5000.00. The closing on the house was imminent so I agreed. We had a second house that we needed items moved as well and he said that for another $5000.00 he would take a full 26 ft straight truck to any location that I wanted. The move ended up being approximately 350 ***. He arrived at the 2nd house on the day of the move, demanded a cashier'check for $5000.00 and didn't wrap a single item from the second house with padding. He tossed delicate, expensive items around and piled things on top of them without padding causing excessive damage to the items. When later confronted with the damage, he denied that he had caused the damage. He tossed everything he wasn't taking into a pile blocking the primary means of exit to the house which created a life-threatening condition for my handicapped wife had there been a fire. The driver drove to within 2 *** of the destination and upon seeing that he would have to travel on a gravel road for the last 2 ***, he absolutely refused to even try. He stated that he was afraid to drive on a "dirt road". He then took the truck to a self storage facility 30 *** away and began to unload the truck with the intention of letting me, the paying customer, move everything to the house on my own. He sloppily tossed as much as he could into the storage room and when he had filled it up, he actually expected me to pay for a 2nd storage room. There were quite a number of items that required 3 men to move and he finally offered to load them in the back of my personal pickup truck and he did help me unload them at the house. He left me with a completely full 10x15 foot storage bin to move on my own. Many of the items were heavy and required at least two men to move. He stripped the moving pads from most of the items as he put them in the shed stating that "the pads cost him $25.00 each" and he couldn't afford to leave them. He offered me to reimburse me $300.00 and left me to finish the move. I had no dolly, no trailer, no assistance and a full cubicle of heavy items that required at least two men to move. The driver basically got paid $11,800.00 to do 1/2 of a move. He then had the audacity to ask for a "tip". It took me three days of hard work to get that storage bin emptied by myself. I then contacted the company about the damaged items and they directed me to a inactive URL. Here is the email I received from them:

Dear Revdex.com Southeast Florida;

According to federal law the terms of the contract Bill of Lading require that the Shipper must *** a claim in writing to the Carrier within nine months from the date of move. Mr. did not provide a claim in writing to North Star Moving as of this day, October 12, 2018.

Moving Claim Services is the third party claim service for North Star Moving. Moving Claim Services was not contacted either verbally and/or in writing by Mr. with respect to a claim with North Star Moving.

According to the submitted complaint to the Revdex.com Southeast Florida Mr. email is noted as ***@comcast.***. A claims package with instructions will be emailed to Mr. this morning. Upon receipt of the claim, we will begin the process of resolution.

Federal law allows Carrier's to provide resolution within 120 days of receipt of a claim. Providing we have all the required information, Moving Claim Services generally provides resolution within 60 days of receipt.

Should you have any questions or require further information please feel free to contact me directly.

I contacted North Star Movers, Fort Lauderdale FL to get a moving quote. Their employee *** told me to walk around my house and tell her what items needed to be moved. This was done very quickly over the phone. She then gave me a quote of $4300 total. The mover *** showed up on moving day and after inspecting what needed moving concluded that I would have to pay close to $8000 to move me instead of the $4300 quoted to me by ***. As it turns out, the list that *** made from the phone conversation lacked many of the things I had told her, so her quote actually reflected a much lower amount of items needed to be move. In addition, *** says that his helpers get 10% to 15% tips for their help, which would be another $1000 to get me moved. Although the tip was not mandatory, I was informed that this is how they get paid and make their living.
After a much heated discussion about their totally unethical business practices and my threatening to contact the Revdex.com, they finally agreed to move me for $6300, but *** still expected me to give his helpers their tip. Since I would lose my $1300 deposit and needed to be moved right away, I finally agreed to the $6300.
*** never once told me that I needed to be sure to include every item because any extra items not on the list would be charged that much more according to the extra space needed to haul it. *** also never told me that their helpers work for big tips and that's how they make their living. It was clear from my heated discussions with *** that this is how they normally conduct business and he found nothing wrong with it. I never would have used their services had I known how much extra it would cost me because I had gotten quotes that were much less than theirs and because of previous moves. This is of course why they use these unethical tactics.
They also dropped my microwave and dented it in several places and dented and scratched my dryer. So not especially competent either.
Product_Or_Service: Moved all my stuff
Order_Number: XXXXXX

Desired Outcome

Refund Refund the $2000 extra I had to pay, and for the damages to the items I listed. So a total refund of $2100 to me and pay the helpers a fair wage for their work, would be a fair resolution.

We hired the company to move our furniture from Ohio to Las Vegas. Over 30 days and no delivery plus double the cost.
We hired NorthStar Movers on 08/23/2018 to move furniture. They were informed we would be out of the apartment and provided a list of items to pick up. The company failed to provide a list to the movers therefore they picked up other items that should not have been included. We made the initial payment and later called to make the final payment based on the cost quoted. The company only took the initial deposit and "mistakenly" didn't process the 2nd payment. The company picked up the furniture in Ohio on August 28, 2018. We were told they were not brokers and used their own trucks. That was not true. Another company was hired to pick up and move our furniture. The furniture was placed in storage and was not put on a truck until Monday, September 24th. We were told it would be 4-6 days after that date for delivery. We have gotten no calls for delivery and it is now September 30, 2018.

We did find out a different company has the furniture. Moving Services *** XXXXX. XXX-XXX-XXXX Direct XXX-XXX-XXXX

We have been hung up on, ignored and basically given the run around for our furniture for over a month now. My daughter has been sleeping on a floor in an empty apartment. We were initially told the furniture would be delivered a week after pickup. Every time we call or email there is a different date given for action. This has caused us undue stress and the price doubled. The initial price we were quoted was $1963.89. We paid the deposit of $799.11 plus $35 for using a charge card for a total of $839.11. After the furniture was picked up we were told the cost would now be $3120.35. We were asked for a deposit of $1560.00 before they would load the furniture. I used a charge card check and paid $2120.35 so the furniture could be sent on September 6th. The balance on delivery was to be $1000.35. We have not heard anything else about a delivery date but we have confirmation they have all our money. In total so far we have paid $2959.46 which is more than double the initial cost of the quoted move.

We have over 40 email exchanges with this company and still no furniture has been delivered.

Desired Outcome

We would like the company to deliver our furniture and provide a credit for the additional costs charged for the move. They more than doubled the price and its been over 30 days and we still have not gotten the furniture. They have ignored our calls and will not provide a date for delivery. We want all our money returned for the delay except the initial deposit of $839.11. We have contacted the company at least 40 times within this month by both phone and email.
