I am disappointed to read Ms [redacted] ’s statementThank you for the opportunity to respondMy work on Ms [redacted] ’s house began in July and indeed extended beyond my original estimate for completionUnfortunately, due to wet weather and a recent diagnosis of Lyme Disease, the time it took me to prep and paint the house was longer than typicalHowever, at the time, the business relationship seemed to be a positive oneCommunication was open, Ms [redacted] was understanding of the time delay, and I was even treated to a tray of brownies to bring home to my familyThe job was going well! When I was notified that a subcontractor had approached Ms [redacted] , I was extremely upsetHis behavior was unacceptable and absolutely not representative of me or how I conduct my businessI apologized profusely then and apologize now for that unsettling experienceOnce I completed the job, I presented Ms [redacted] with a gift certificate to Whole Foods because I felt badly about the delayed completion and the uncomfortable interaction with the subcontractorAs to the claim that my work was “slapdash,” I beg to differAs a small business owner, my primary focus is quality over quicknessI take pride in my work and treat my customers’ homes as I treat my ownMs [redacted] ’s home was previously peeling in the backTo address the peeling, I scraped, primed, and stained each areaI not only sprayed the house with top of the line [redacted] Wood Scapes Stain, but also back brushed the paint into the wood for a more durable coatingI completely regard the statement that suggests the stain was “watered down” as falseMs [redacted] did not voice any concerns about the quality of my work throughout the job and was very pleasant to work withAt the completion of the job, we did a walk around to inspect togetherThere were a few minor areas we noticed and I said I would return to touch them upI received final payment and planned to return for touch upsUnfortunately, seasons changed, life got busy, and I never made it back to Ms [redacted] ’s property to complete the small touch upsIn my defense, at no time after the completion of the job did I receive any calls, communication, or requests from Ms [redacted] In conclusion, I stand behind my workI am more than willing to fix any areas that require attentionI respectfully request the opportunity to do this and significantly raise the level of Ms [redacted] ’s satisfactionI wholeheartedly apologize for the time delay and for the inappropriate choices of a subcontractor Sincerely,Jeffrey C***

I am rejecting this response because: *** ***a stated via text message on June 8, that he would get me the "very soon" I offered the date of June 30th as a deadline for the money He agreed and even apologized for the situation I thought it was a done deal and he readied the situation he put me in by the awful work he had done I contacted him on June 27, and re: payment He did not respond I contacted him on 7/stating the painter still working on my house found empty pain cans thrown in my woods that were products Jeff had bought and gallons of black paint of which Jeff had charged me for- wrong color! No response from Jeff When I filed my 2nd complaint with BB last week, he texted me an obnoxious response and and stated via text 'you don't deserve anything back and I don't need your *** *** ***' This is what I have put up with from *** since I started having problems with himWhen he agreed on June 8th to settle I thought we were all set and that he had finally accepted responsibility I was wrong I am not trashing *** business, I am stating the truth to anyone who has asked me who started the work I had estimates and all could not believe the mess I had on my hands and they stated how much additional money I would have to pay in supplies and labor to fix the problems caused by J*** The painted I did hire was on my property for almost months and spent hours scraping overspray and having to redo areas Jeff had done He could not believe the way the work was done and did ask for the name of the original painter as did other estimators They also could not believe *** showed me only one receipt for supplies, no copy of his insurance and then left his trash on my property I am completely disgusted with this contractor and he should not be in business He shows no accountability for his actions and just tries to blame it on the customer or twist things I have documentation of all of the text messages from *** pictures from day one of everything as well I will not settle for less than in reimbursement and I feel this is more than reasonable since I paid him and because of his work, I had to pay thousands more for the work to be done right and the emotional anguish he has put me through I do hope BB can assist me with resolution and make other consumers aware of this contractor
Sincerely,

I am disappointed to read Ms. [redacted]’s statement. Thank you for the opportunity to respond. My work on Ms. [redacted]’s house began in July 2014 and indeed extended beyond my original estimate for completion. Unfortunately, due to wet weather and a recent diagnosis of Lyme Disease, the time it took me...

to prep and paint the house was longer than typical. However, at the time, the business relationship seemed to be a positive one. Communication was open, Ms. [redacted] was understanding of the time delay, and I was even treated to a tray of brownies to bring home to my family. The job was going well! When I was notified that a subcontractor had approached Ms. [redacted], I was extremely upset. His behavior was unacceptable and absolutely not representative of me or how I conduct my business. I apologized profusely then and apologize now for that unsettling experience. Once I completed the job, I presented Ms. [redacted] with a gift certificate to Whole Foods because I felt badly about the delayed completion and the uncomfortable interaction with the subcontractor. As to the claim that my work was “slapdash,” I beg to differ. As a small business owner, my primary focus is quality over quickness. I take pride in my work and treat my customers’ homes as I treat my own. Ms. [redacted]’s home was previously peeling in the back. To address the peeling, I scraped, primed, and stained each area. I not only sprayed the house with top of the line [redacted] Wood Scapes Stain, but also back brushed the paint into the wood for a more durable coating. I completely regard the statement that suggests the stain was “watered down” as false. Ms. [redacted] did not voice any concerns about the quality of my work throughout the job and was very pleasant to work with. At the completion of the job, we did a walk around to inspect together. There were a few minor areas we noticed and I said I would return to touch them up. I received final payment and planned to return for touch ups. Unfortunately, seasons changed, life got busy, and I never made it back to Ms. [redacted]’s property to complete the small touch ups. In my defense, at no time after the completion of the job did I receive any calls, communication, or requests from Ms. [redacted]. In conclusion, I stand behind my work. I am more than willing to fix any areas that require attention. I respectfully request the opportunity to do this and significantly raise the level of Ms. [redacted]’s satisfaction. I wholeheartedly apologize for the time delay and for the inappropriate choices of a subcontractor.  Sincerely,Jeffrey C[redacted]

The work done at [redacted] for [redacted] was going smoothly. There was plenty of prep work going on there. It was a dark stained house that was very thirsty, she wanted all the little pin nail holes filled on the entire house. Jason and I were going around prepping...

with ready patch, and caulking around all the windows. I feel that its unacceptable that she wants $2500.00 back considering I sprayed the back and the side of the house, the left side of the front of the house was two coated by myself. I had Jason going around all the windows so it would be easier for me to spray and back brush. I did have a young college kid helping me because he needed a little extra money and I like helping out people. The issues [redacted] was talking about could have been fixed and resolved in a timely manner. The price of the material was $1200-$1400.00. The college kid wasn't on any big ladders, because I didn't want there to be a problem. I paid Jason $1750.00, he has his own company as well. We work together on bigger jobs. I paid the college kid $400.00 and myself $2000.00. I paid $2150 to my help and after my materials and my pay, we would be over the $5000.00 on an $8500.00 job. Suzanne is saying that $2500.00 is more than reasonable to be reimbursed. To me that is unacceptable for the amount of work and labor that went on there. I offered to take a loss on this job and give her $1000.00 back, and she said $2500.00 and then went down to $2000.00, which is still unacceptable. There was minor over spray that would have come off with no problem. I would like to, however, work out something with her because I would like to make things right. I do apologize for leaving the trash behind. I was upset how the job ended. I treat everyone with respect. I hope we can work something out. I wish you all the best on future contractors.             Cubeta Painting
