Dalewood Health & Wellness Reviews (%countItem)

I just read all the positive and negative reviews and thought I should also share my experience. My experience was with the 17th Ave Calgary office however by the looks of it they are all more or less the same.
When staring the program, Linda was very quick and eager to take my credit card. She advised me that I would have constant contact with my advisors via the Dalewood portal, skype or telephone calls. "They" were there for me and as much as I needed them. Well that couldn't be farther from the truth...first of all, they don't use the Dalewood portal. Including Linda, who apparently told me she is always on it. So to get in touch with them is extremely challenging.
The program is basically calories in, calories out....so my advice is to down load the FitnessPal appt and log in all your food and activity there. Thanks to that I lost my 40+ pounds. Yes, I did get my weight loss grant money approved for $1680.00 but I really did do this on my own.
***. They are not qualified people to talk to you about weight loss. It is basically like joining a gym. Once you pay, the fitness/sales person couldn't care less if you show up. It is not like you are taking their time.

Hello - Please be advised that we cannot adjudicate client concerns via the Revdex.com web portal due to privacy laws that govern health care professionals.

It would be nearly impossible to respond to a client's concerns online or through an intermediary like the Revdex.com without referring to the confidential charting notes in the patient's file and revealing sensitive and privileged information.

Patient confidentiality is one of the most important pillars of health care. Protecting the private details of a patient is not just a matter of moral respect, it is essential in retaining the important bond of trust between the health care provider and the client/patient. This kind of Privacy is important to stress because it permits health activities to be carried out in ways that protect individuals' dignity.

Most people don't realize that they are unknowingly giving up their privacy rights when they divulge their personal health matters to strangers, especially because information they provide can be used against them anytime in the future by Insurers, government agencies and current or future employers.

To that end, unsatisfied clients are always able to express their concerns and have them promptly addressed. In the event of an impasse, Dalewood has a formal dispute resolution process in place that includes Provincially mandated arbitration to ensure you are treated fairly.

I started the program the end of October and was very enthusiastic about it and like other I thought if I put out the money I would be more inclined to lose the weight. I was also informed that with the DNA testing I would not be eating foods that caused that did not agree with me. I never swayed from the program for 6 months and only lost 14 pounds. My goal weight was 37 pound. The support staff just kept encouraging me and telling me I was doing great. I was not gaining any weight. I asked for an extension and never heard a word.
I am sorry I never did the research on this before signing up. I have lost a lot of sleep and now have a severed pain between my shoulder blades and was told it was stress. Well who wouldn't be stressed losing that kind of money.

I made an appointment to find out about the $2,500 grant for a weight loss program...it's called Dalewood in Victoria BC... I can choose any weight loss program, such as ***, *** etc...if I choose Dalewood and lose a significant amount of weight in a specified period of time I'm supposed to get 80% of my $2,500 up front investment back...
When I got home I re-read the info package, I saw that Lori put incorrect info on my form, my weight, waist and height measurements were not accurate...
Red flags were going up....
Thankfully I didn't part with my money...I decided to go on line to check the reviews, they were ALL negative...
I called the governing body that gives out the grant asking them if they knew about the public's respondse to the inadequacies of the Dalewood Clinic...all they seem to be concerned with is that Dalewood follows what the government asks in order to get the grant...next I called the Revdex.com, the lady there told me that the Dalewood Health and wellness Clinic is an "F"...
I called the Dalewood Clinic to let Lori know what I found out, she said there's a lot of people that have had a positive experience, and there was a problem some time ago with one of the managers back east...
***...if the government doesn't care how a company is run after receiving a grant then who can you trust???

Hi There,
I have read all the complaints and reviews and there are some things that can always be improved. I too had some issues but I was determined that I was going to make this work. My thoughts are it took me 10 years to get to this weight it might take me at least a year or more to get it off. I could have gone through other programs and I have tried other programs but unless you are totally engaged in doing what need to be done to get to the goal its useless. Determination is the key. I have not reached my goal yet but I extended my program to the end of June. My issue is that I had sensitivity to things that I was eating and I didn't know that. However, I have found out that the sensitivities I have cause my body to enflame including my sinuses. So now that I know I am putting that information to good use and changing the things I eat to the things I don't have a sensitivity to. So far it is helping with my knees and with my sinuses so I can get out and do the exercises that I need to do to help with the program. I would recommend that if you want a life change and help your body feel better to get into this program or any other program that will help get you to your goal. My goal is less than 10 pounds away but I am determined to get to that goal and hopefully beyond. Happy with who I am and how I am progressing.

Thank god I researched this company after I left my appointment with Deanna B. Never seen so many bad reviews and the Revdex.com gives them an F. This woman got so *** off at me and said because I asked so many questions I felt immediately that it was a ***, she never even looked at my questionnaire I filled out! She's a good talker though very versed in her sale pitch. Her phone rang constantly which annoyed her I told her to go ahead and answer it, she declined I'm sure now that it was upset clients that didn't dodge a bullet like I have..

While we thank the Revdex.com for the opportunity to solicit our clients for positive testimonials, we are not permitted to do so because registered, licensed health care professionals are regulated by governing colleges and the Ministry of Health which does not allow regulated health care professionals to use testimonials or solicit online reviews.

Why do you see testimonials and positive reviews on websites of other weight loss and weight management companies?

***

But why shouldn't regulated health care professionals use testimonials or solicit positive reviews?

Some of the reasons include:

â?¢ Testimonials and positive reviews are unreliable.
â?¢ Because people are different, it's misleading to suggest that you will achieve the same results as the person shown in the testimonial.
â?¢ Claims cannot be verified.
â?¢ Testimonials may represent ideal outcomes which don't reflect averages or norms.
â?¢ Inadvertent influence to write a testimonial or positive review may have taken place.

We hope this assists you in understanding why we do not advertise our success stories, and at the same time gives you comfort knowing that at Dalewood, you will be cared for by licensed, regulated health care professionals that will always put your interests ahead of their own.

I received my program package today and I am very disappointed with the plans I have received.

On March 19th I came in to the facility for my initial appointment with the program coordinator. At this time I was weighed and a Weight Declaration form was completed indicating that my weight was 140lbs, my weight loss goal was to be 24lbs for a final weigh-in of 116lbs.

On March 27th, I met with the Intake Specialist to complete my Metabolic Rate Analysis. Upon receiving my results today, it was indicated on the Meda Check form that my starting weight is 137lb making my new weight loss goal 112lb. My weight was not obtained during this appointment. This new weight loss goal would be completely unrealistic and unhealthy for a woman of my age and frame, considering the person whom I met with on March 19th said that the original goal was aggressive.

I was informed that I would be contacted by my fitness specialist who would design an exercise program tailored to my needs. I received a fitness program prior to ever having spoken to my fitness specialist and without any assessment being done. This includes range of motion, strength and flexibility testing. I have had injuries in the past and these were clearly not asked about or taken into consideration. Also, I find it very confusing as to how a personal trainer is able to come up with a fitness program specific to me when I was not asked about my restrictions, pictures of my current physique nor my measurements. My fitness program is geared towards upper body and core workouts with very little consideration to my lower body requirements. Had the trainer contacted me, she would have been able to recognize that my lower body needs more attention than my upper body.

In regards to my weight training/cardio split, the Nutrigenomix results suggest I do cardio 6/7 days a week and weight training 2/7 days a week. However, my "trainer" suggested something completely different which is a contradiction.

I am very disappointed with my Personal Nutrition Program. It also contradicts many of the results of my Nutrigenomix test.

- My current diet is more in line with my test results than the program that has been provided to me.

- The test indicates a high protein, moderate carbs and low fat diet with VERY limited dairy. However my program suggests dairy at almost every meal and very little protein (Total daily consumption being less than 6 oz of uncooked protein per day)

- The recipes provided are not healthy at all. They do not indicate any nutritional information nor serving sizes. Furthermore, they contain ingredients that do not pertain to my results and include processed sugars, prepared canned and processed products and dairy in most of the recipes. Indicating that this is not an individualized program at all. This is very cookie cutter.

Ex. The Spinach Lasagna; which contains processed canned sauce and not only 1 but 3 types of cheese. Which is clearly not in line with my test results. It is CLEAR that this guide is NOT specific to me. Other than the fact that my name was printed on the front cover of the book, not a single page relates to the results of the test.

I find it extremely hard to believe that you were able to put together a program for me without having received my test results.

Lastly, I was contacted by my Cognitive Behavioural Coach today to set up a convenient time to chat and she indicated that her first availability is the week of April 23rd, which is an additional 2 weeks from today's date. In my opinion, this meeting should have been set up prior to or while the test results were being compiled, not two weeks into the program. Also, until yesterday morning, I was under the impression that my program start date was March 26th as this is the date on the conditional funding certificate. This means that I would have not been in touch with her until 1 month into the program.

I am beyond disappointed and completely overwhelmed with the lack of integrity put into this program. At this time I am requesting a full refund for the complete inconvenience.

I have had the same terrible experience as Mr. J.S.'s recent complaint about the Ottawa office and K.H. the clinic director, who has no idea what professional customer service in business really means. First meeting goes well, with bubbly pre-sales enthusiasm. After paying my membership, things rapidly go downhill with inexistent after-sales service. After waiting several weeks with nothing happening, I send several emails to K.H. with no reply. My phone calls remain unanswered. It's only after I called the Toronto head office that things started happening, exactly 1 MONTH after I had signed up! Totally unacceptable. I can understand 1-2 weeks, but a month? And that's only because I was a squeaky wheel. With regards to requests for weigh-ins with manager, again, my emails were always unanswered unless I would send a few reminder emails or phone calls. So very unprofessional. Things improved when I complained to the Toronto office. At weigh-ins, although I did well, there was rarely any congratulations, just a flat affect with no smile, with a could-not-care-less attitude. What a disappointment! One good thing about Dalewood is their Toronto-based dietician to whom I was assigned (J.Z.). She deserves 5 stars. She was always available for me, and she is the reason for my success. Still, if it were to do again, I would not have chosen Dalewood nor do I recommend them.

I applied for the advertised weight loss grant at Weightlossgrants.org (WLGO) and was approved. They sent me to Dalewood Health Clinic and told me I must attend this clinic to qualify for the grant. I was not given the choice of any other program and was led to believe that Dalewood was the weight loss organization I needed to join in order to qualify for the grant through WeightLossGrants.Org. I went to Dalewood who explained their program and charged me over $2600 to join. The people at Dalewood also neglected to inform me that I had a choice of providers and led me to believe I had to join their program to qualify for the grant.
I have since discovered that I did not have to join Dalewood and that I could have chosen any accredited provider and still have been eligible for the grant. If I had been informed of this choice, I NEVER would have joined Dalewood clinic . On top of that, I was supposed to get a weight loss package that included several tools such as a food scale, a fitness band etc. and they only sent me part of what was promised. I never received the rest.
Both WLGO and Dalewood withheld this information from me and I therefore asked to withdraw from the program and have my fees refunded. They have refused. In my opinion, they only want your money and once they have it....oh well. All the negative reviews on here support that. I am taking legal action.

OMG, so I was refereed from the weight lose grants that the government is running. Dalewood convinced me they were the best program for me and that the grant pays 80% if I join dalewood, any other program they do not reimburse that much.. So like a fool I charge 2600 on my visa. wait for 3 weeks to get my package with 3 silly workout routines and meal plan that tells me to eat eggs dary when they knew I can not eat that. I never heard from anyone for 2 more weeks. When I reach out by e-mail phone or their msg board it takes forever for a reply. I have been tring to weigh in for 2 weeks now. I finally received a reply scheduling for weigh in today at 10am. I leave work pay for parking and guess what the clinic is locked no one is there. The business next dorr told me this happens every day. people come get *** and then leave. How am I suppose to get the grant if I can not follow the program... I have sent the grant contact a complaint as well. I want my money back this is not chump change... This clinic in St. Catharines is VERY unprofessional. I feel like I just though a tun of money away.... So disappointing....

. Zero support. You're supposed to go in for a weigh-in every two weeks, but the first several times I went in, Linda was either very late or simply didn't show up. All they want is your money. After they have received your money they could care less if they ever see you again. ***. My mother loaned me the money to take this program and I feel like I did kicked in the stomach. ***. It is much cheaper to get a referral to a dietician from your doctor. The metabolic testing they do is basically useless as you can calculate your base metabolic rate yourself. There is zero accountability. The time it takes in the beginning to get started after you've already given them your money is ridiculous. It was more than four weeks before I even got a phone call. There should be something in place to get people started instead of waiting around. People that are desperate enough to pay 2000+ dollars for a program need to have a company acting like they care about you. But Dalewood takes your money and leave you hanging for 4 to 6 weeks. And then once the actual program starts, you have to go in for a weigh in every 2 weeks. Like I said before Linda was either not there or was very late. You start to feel like you don't matter. Everyone knows that being overweight is very emotional and to treat overweight people like the way Dalewood treats you is reprehensible.
***
I have tried to complain to head office but no one gets back to you.

I entered the Dalewood program last June (Calgary 17th Av location) and went from 92 Kgs to 78Kgs by the end of December 2017. It is a huge effort, but alone I wouldn't be able to say today that I succeeded. It is really a team of people behind the scene coaching and mentoring, helping and promoting paradigm changes, growing as a person and re-establish a healthy relationship with food, body image and health. Thank you Cicilia, Thank you Alannah, Thank you Linda, Thank you Evelyn, Thank you Mackenzie, Thank you Darcie.

As part of the payment, I was told I would get a dietician to explain the diet and nutrition facts that were sent to me in the mail. I paid Dalewood on October 23/2017 for my weight loss program a total of $2400 and had the hardest time getting any appointments so it took until a month later to actually receive my diet plan in the mail. The dietician I was assigned offered me an appointment for a Saturday morning in December which I couldn't accommodate. I asked for another dietician as I was eager to start my program but didn't understand my meal plan that they had sent me. All I got was a note back from one of the staff saying that I would be pleasantly surprised by how nice the dietician I had been assigned was, and she was going to help me achieve my goals I replied that being nice was not going to help me lose weight if I couldn't get an appointment with her. I have had an uphill battle with this *** facility. *** but I was sent there by the Weight Loss Grant Organization and when I had the initial interview there they told me that they (Dalewood) were the only ones that the weight loss grant org, would allow. I have asked everyone of the other team members to help me with trying to understand the diet I was supposed to follow, but I keep getting referred back to the dietician. The next appointment she can give me isn't until December 11/2017 at which time I will be in the UK looking *** so I won't have an appointment to discuss my diet and what I should and shouldn't be eating until January 2018 which will be 3 months since I paid for the service. *** I would like a resolve please

Desired Outcome

I want them to provide me with a dietician who can give me the time I was promised. Even on her profile online it says, ask her questions anytime about your diet plan, and she'll get back to you right away All I keep getting is a date 2 weeks in the future and useless responses by the clinic director.

Customer Response

I heard from the Dietician and the issue has been dealt with. It was just a shame that I had to go this route to get a service that I paid for. I have not been happy with this company, but they wouldn't give me my full refund once I agreed to use their service.

I have recently signed up in Calgary Hanson SQ in Sept-Oct 2017. The people here are very helpful and are very positive, happy and enthusiastic. I have had really great results so far. You need to ask questions as any weight loss program to make sure that this is for you. If you need any help all of the team has always got back to me right away. You get access to Dietician, Fitness instructor and a health coach and you go for weigh in.

This is a different type of review since I did not actually start the program. I called the organization today to "qualify" and I must say I spoke with a young woman who had no telephone personality whatsoever. However, not everyone does so I let it go and arranged a "complimentary " appointment. I then spoke with my girlfriend about this and told her to look them up on the internet. Everything I had seen on their website looked wonderful, and seemed to be just what I was looking for. However, when she went online, she found all the negative reviews and immediately called me. Initially, I felt like a fool not having checked for reviews myself, but I was very thankful that my girlfriend did it for me - she's much less trusting than I am! So......I have now read these review for myself and I'm stunned. Of course, I called them immediately to cancel my appointment and the young man I spoke with couldn't get me off the 'phone quickly enough when I told him I had since found out they were not Revdex.com accredited ***. He cancelled that appointment no questions asked, other than did I want to reschedule. Lesson learned - always check for reviews, unless, of course, you have a wonderful girlfriend like mine who always has my back!

I went for a weigh-in as per the government weigh loss grant requirement. When I entered the office there was no receptionist. Two doors were ajar and someone, from inside a door asked me to fill out the form. After completing the form I asked to use the washroom. She told me to leave the confidential form on a chair. I was brought into an office by another "consultant". She didn't look at anything but had me get on a scale. She began to fiddle with the scale weights in an attempt to get an "accurate" weight. She tells me that I weigh 173 lbs!. She then told me about how much more money I would get back if I were to go with their far better program than Weight Watchers. Dalewood 80% return vs Weight Watchers 20%. ***? Isn't it all about the weight loss and healthy living? When I started to ask questions about the program she got up and brought me pamphlets to look at rather than give in depth answers. She told me that to ensure I got the money back from the grant I would expect to take a year to lose my original target of 25 lbs. Really? I told her based on the scale I would need to lose more as I thought I was lighter. She made it clear it was time to go as she stood by the door with them. ***! Next morning, I reluctantly got on a scale at home which I haven't done in years. 155!!!***.

I made an appointment through the Weight Loss Grant and received several Emails warning me I would be charged $25 if I didn't show up. I did show up and was left waiting 45 minutes. They never did appear & I walked out. I had to get to work. I would like to bill them $25 for wasting my time.

. The woman who's name I have forgotten was rude and let off an energy that would make one feel as if they are wasting the other's time.
It was blatantly clear that this person is in the wrong field of work, as she didn't seem very positive or happy to explain the services Dalewood provides.
She explained how much the program cost, and I had mentioned at the time that I was a working professional also attending university during the summer, so the program was a bit out of my budget. However I did ask her about the program and what it included because I wanted to understand myself why the program was valued at the price it was.
After explaining the program in a very brief manner and repeating a few times that it would only cost me a couple hundred dollars as the grant would cover the rest, I explained that I did not have the money up front for the program. (I did and could afford the program, but who wants to purchase a service from the type of woman I encountered?)
I kept quiet and simply stated that I appreciated her explaining the program to me but for the time being wanted just to be weighed for my first weigh in certificate. She proceeded by telling me I wasted her time in explaining a program if I did not have the intent to purchase it in the first place.
To me that is absurd. A consumer has the right to learn about a product or service before committing to make a purchase.
*** I drove home wondering how some people can exert such negative energy towards someone whom has done nothing to them.

I most definitely will not be returning.
This was at the Mississauga location for a weigh in for the weightloss grant.
