Davis Tow, Inc. Reviews (30)

Review: I went to an event at sleep train arena on the night of March 28 2015. A fellow event person told us that we could park in this parking lot so we did, not realizing that we would get towed. The company that towed my vehicle charged 350 dollars. The average tow for the distance they travelled (5-10 miles) can range from $80-100. I believe that we were gouged and falsely charged because there was no signage about not being allowed to park there. I was parked there at 9:45 pm and at 2.30 am, when we got to the lot the car was gone.Desired Settlement: First there was no sign and if we neglected to notice the sign the charges are not within the normal price for towes.

Review: On November 24, 2014 my vehicle was illegally towed from a parking lot in which I had been a restaurant patron and can verify via my bank statement. I was parked in a stall not displaying a parking sign and signs on the premise did not mention Private Parking, Customer or Patron Only Parking, had NO time and NO hours restrictions. The only mentioned restriction anywhere in the lot was an accompanying sign that said NO EVENT PARKING which I was not parked for. I had driven 3 hours to pick up my boyfriend from a visit with his Grandparents and then carpooled with friends after dinner to hang out before having to drive back to Half Moon Bay. Upon return I discovered my vehicle had been towed and the company was demanding $350 to get it back or they would keep it and lien sale it. They basically stole my car and held it for ransom and forced us to pay them, which is Extortion. Furthermore they didn't even verify ownership. Not once did they ask my name, check my license, even after asking for my registration to make a copy. They used [redacted]'s credit card, copied [redacted]'s ID and he is not on the Registration, Title OR Insurance, so basically they gave my car to someone it didn't belong to. . . he could have been ANYONE.Lastly, they damaged my vehicle!!! They marked a yellow form that had two Scratches listed on the Left Side - to which I replied that there better not be scratches, it is a brand new car and to which they said it was probably just dirt and that it is hard to see at night. [redacted] took a picture of the door in the lot and again this AM and found the "scratches" were just dirt, but that there was a DENT IN THE DOOR! Its like they tried to cover it up with the "Prior Scratch Report". They also managed to damage the structural bar under the car gas tank - they could have punctured it! It is [redacted]t and pressing against the tank! In that same area there is also damage to the interior fender and on the front underside fender! I have ample photos and have filed an Insurance Claim.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund of the tow charge credited back to [redacted] and my vehicle damage repaired.

Review: Davis Tow Inc towed my vehicle on Monday 11/17/2013. The did not follow the guidelines as stipulated in V C Section 22658 Removal From Private Property, which is located on the grounds of the apartment complex where I reside. The representative from Davis Tow Inc was provided with my registration and upon getting that information agreed to refund me half of the cost that it took to tow and impound my vehicle. I know this because the apartment complex manager provided me with emails detailing the agreement between Davis Tow Inc and the apartment complex to refund me the amount of $250.00. When I contacted Davis Tow Inc this morning to get the refund process going I was told that I had to provide the with further proof that my car was registered. This was not the agreement and they are not law enforcement. I am requestin that they pay the $125.00 agreed to. Davis Tow Inc is refusing to pay what they agreed to pay.

Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Refund

Along with the $125.00 that Davis Tow Inc has agreed to pay, I would also like them to refund me the entire $200 dollar tow fee and the $50 dollar storage fee that they charged me. I am asking for the extra $175 is due the stress that was placed on me trying to get the car back and what my wife and myself went through dealing with Davis Tow Inc.Friday 11/22/13 [redacted] from Davis Tow Inc cursed at me when I was speaking with him regarding the V C Section portions. I was told "they wrote the law".

I parked across from sleep train in the vacant parking lots and was towed. The lots are poorly marked some lots not even marked. My 7 year and I were stranded in the rain with no car. I was charged $380. A extremely high rate for towing 2 miles away and a $110 after hour gate fee.

Davis towing watches people park in the office buildings right next to sleep train arena and then tows their cars with out the office building owner's concent. this is against the law. then when the event at sleep train ends, there are taxis waiting in the parking lot to take the people whos cars got towed to the tow yard. it is a huge scam and I really hope something is done to take this company down. not only are they operating illegally, they are also extremely rude and inconsiderate.

The company is in violation of the Vehicle Code number 22658 - A towing company shall not remove or commence the removal of a vehicle from private property without first obtaining the written authorization from the property owner or lessee, including an association of common interest development or an employee or agent therof, who shall be present at the time of the removal and verify the alleged violation.

Please, if anyone has a similar issue, complaind and write a bad review.

Operation take down davis towing!!!

Review: On sept 7, 2015 I returned home at approximately 9:05pm. I pulled in front of my garage door so my son had access to our front door due to an injury. So noted, I'm blocking my garage only and no driveway as it is a dead end. Davis tow claims my car was reported by management to be towed. Management is not patrolling our complex and the patrol company (verified) does not have authority to call for towing. I am not in any violation of my signed lease agreement or legal violation of fire lanes. Per my agreement an owner must conact tow company to remove a vehicle which did not occur. Davis tow states they will not say who called. Per interviewing other residents who are out front every evening state that Davis tow nightly is driving through our complex looking for cars. We do not have assigned parking or parking stickers. We have one posted sign at front entrance that states any unauthorized cars will be towed, I'm authorized. The only time per my lease agreement I can be towed without warning is if I'm blocking a fire lane which I wasn't. This company is illegally driving through our complex obtaining cars ( I'm not the only one) to make a profit! I will be Persuing in small claims court and hopefully let the public be aware of this scam. Read your hoa documents and know your rights, mine were clearly violated along with the harassment of picking up my vehicle. As a side note I was give three different amounts of how much the amount was to recover my car. $325 first amount, $250 second amount and final amount to pay $300. Also these amounts don't match their stated amounts displayed. Contacted [redacted] and they have the guidelines of contacting per towing and all the times do not match up. Unless Davis tow has a magic carpet, they are the fastest driving and responding tow company in the history of towing!Desired Settlement: I am taking them to small claims court along with rental complex. They were given the option to rectify after learning they violated my lease agreement and did not accept my offer.

Response:

Clarification on restitution requested. I request all fees submitted to Davis tow be refunded in full. I request that all lost wages by myself and representative/witness be refunded. All repairs caused by towing covered and tbd by repair facility which is cooks collision in [redacted] closest to my home. $300 towing $400 lost wages $ damage to vehicle TBD . I have pictures of the car prior to being towed as it was just purchased. Pictures show none of the damage was there prior to towing. $4000 pain and suffering. My son who I bought the car for noticed it was missing and broke down crying. The undo stress and harassment he endured and How I was also treated by [redacted] and tow yard employees has left me scared due to the fact they know exactly where I live and pursing my case to the highest legal limit.

Review: After towing my vehicle that was legally parked, they hung up on me when I tried to set up an appointment to get the car back. When I finally got an appointment with them they set the same appointment up with 6 other people. The person that had to be there to give the car back showed up 15 min late. It took him 45 min to give the car back as everyone else was locked outside in the rain waiting for their turn. After boasting about how their drivers get a rush by taking peoples cars and how much money they make doing it, he then offered me a job. He had no respect for anyones time or money. To verify that my vehicle was legally parked I asked my homeowner association if there were any parking permits required and they said no even though there are signs saying that they are required, but doesn't indicate who requires them. The homeowner association told me that they not only don't require them they don't issue them. I asked them to take the signs down but have a feeling they won't. They even gave me documentation that talks about parking but doesn't mention permits even once.Desired Settlement: Since the vehicle was legally parked and the complete disregard for people in general I want my money back. They charged me an additional $130, I believe, because I picked the car up on Saturday when they say they are closed but he informed me that he worked in the office on Saturday. Having to put up with their rudeness and waiting for them when they are the ones who set the time. The total was $380.

Review: My car was towed from my apartment complex for being too close to a dumpster. I called the number provided by the complex and spoke to [redacted] at 1230pm on Saturday 3/5/16. He set up an appointment for me to get my car at 3om that same day. I was there at 230, and called at 3:02 when [redacted] had not showed. [redacted] said he was "running a little late" and would be there in 30 minutes. At 3:31 I called again. At this point [redacted] said he would be there in 15 minutes. I asked if I would be given some sort of discount as being 45 minutes late was unbelievable. He stated it was not unbelievable and when I began to explain why it was unbelievable he hung up on me. He finally showed up around 3:50 and blamed his tardiness on other customers. When asked why he did not call to say he would be late, he said he did not have my number; despite the fact that he had returned my call twice that day.Desired Settlement: If a full refund is not possible, I would like a partial refund or for us business to be fined.

Review: We parked our [redacted] Altima car at [redacted]. Our car was towed by Davis Tow Inc. and we called the tow company to get the details and address of the towing compound. When we tried to contact the tow company, the owner, Mr. [redacted] was really rude and misbehaved over the phone. When we called him again to get further details, he abused me and used words and language that I cannot state here. I felt really abused and helpless regarding the way he treated me. When finally getting a hold of him after calling him about 5 more times, he gave me the address and told me to get there as soon as possible since he is closing at 6 pm. So I get there around 4:10-4:15 pm to get the car asap since my daughter uses this car to commute to work and all her belongings were in this car. Mr. [redacted] does not get there until 6 pm so we ended up waiting there in freezing cold for [redacted] for more than 2 hours. I felt physically and mentally tired at this time so I decide to call him again but he didn't answer. Finally, he shows up at 5:55 pm and opened the business. We reluctantly paid the outrageous towing charges. The yard also had no lights and it was really dark there. When we got home, we realized that the car bumper and the sides had damages on them that were not there previously. I was really mentally harassed and physically tired throughout the whole process. Another thing is that the towing charges were extremely high and did not feel like they were justified. We were chaged $220 as hourly towing charges. $110 after hours charges which did not make any sense to me along with $50 storage charges which came out to $380. None of these outrageous charges made any sense.Desired Settlement: I would like to get compensated for the mental and physical abuse I had to go through and the damages caused to my car during the whole process. Due to extremely cold weather, I caught a cold and eventually got sick.

Ripped me off a hundred dollars by extorting me in order to not tow my car. Driver smelled of extreme booze and smoked 2 cigarettes while talking to me! Threatened to call the cops on me for "disrespecting" him and for catching him in lies that he tried to throw out about me breaking the law . Overall I cannot believe the state of California has allowed a company that operates grand larceny to continue to have a license. They need to be shut down or fire their white trash worker with the tattoos the nasty beer stinking beard and greased up wife beater. worst business I've ever dealt with and I cannot believe I was forced to allow them to commit grand larceny and extort me out of money for my car.
