Decorative Concrete Surfacing Reviews (27)

The initial work was really nice and we were very happy with it. The problem is the owner does not stand behind his work when you have a problem. The very next year our patio turned milky white. My husband called numerous times with not even a returned call. The year after that he tried again after we saw the owner at the Milwaukee home improvement show. He came by and said he would re-seal our patio sometime to stop by when working other jobs. Months went by and no call or word on when this might happen. Again my husband left numerous messages with no return call. The owner finally called back saying my husband was being rude??? And now had no intention of helping us. NOT PROFESSIONAL !!! Would recommend to stay far away from this owner and his business.

Review: This contractor did some concrete work at our home November 14, 2012, after hounding us for the work. This contractor was persistent in gaining our business, when we gave him the job, we were confident the work would be done professionally and precisely. Within about 6 months or so, the concrete cracked in various places. My wife and I reached out to the contractor and was told that he would come to our residence and check it out and never showed up. This happened several different times. This work is supposed to carry a lifetime warranty - (this information is on the contractors website under the "Think About This" tab. No matter the size or price of the job, when there is a complaint made against the quality of the work - it needs to be addressed. There are several photos to back up this complaint.Desired Settlement: We are looking to have the work repaired and done correctly! We paid for a job that was not done to our liking (over time) and this contractor states his work carries a lifetime warranty. He was paid timely and in full with no issues, we are looking for a professional and timely repair of this work.

I have had considerable dialogue with [redacted] and have been to

the site several times since first learning of this issue on 4/29/13. My employees

have been there as well. We addressed the issue in about mid-August and have only

had one conversation since. The dialogue was vague and insulting with a net result

of “issue closed”, or so I thought. We

are in winter season now and nothing can be done IF there is an issue on our

end. I personally do NOT believe this to be the case though. [redacted] is more than

welcome to send me current pictures of the project if she wishes.

The complaint that both [redacted] and I have with the cement work done at our home is that the quality of work is unexceptable. Initially, when we discovered the first large crack at the front stoop where we've paid for a nice decorative stamping to be done, we called you and you came to our home. You sent someone out to fix the large crack that appeared in the front, where it interferes with the beauty of the stamping, thus, we wanted and searched for "curb appeal" look. You sent someone out to fix it. We had no knowledge when this person was even coming. When this fix-it person showed up, we had another crack. [redacted] addressed the other crack when your fix-it guy showed up but he told [redacted] that he was here to fix the origianl crack, and that he didn't know anything about a second crack. Now there are several cracks..... Had you inspected your work, you would know this. I guess instead of "checking your books" you'd come out and inspect the work!

Listen, we want you to show us the same attentive response now, that you showed us when trying to earn our business. You say, my records show this, and that. Have you ever called to follow up after the repair work? You didn't mind coming several times to pick up your deposits to start the work last year, and stressed that the work need be done before the snow flys. We really trusted you. For us to have to file a complaint like this is pretty sad.

Now we have several cracks and a very low dip that collects water. My husband is very dissapointed with the workmanship but mostly the poor quality of follow up service.

Sales is relationship building. We are more dissapointed than anything as we really liked you and believed in your work and the quality you promised us. This is why we went with you. But a satified customer doesn't end with the sale.

This complaint will never be closed until we get the satification we deserve and paid for.

Regards,

[redacted] & [redacted]

P.S. I will post photos on another post.

We cant/wont do anything until spring due to severe cold. We are not doing any outdoor work or even looking at projects till spring. You may send pictures in spring to see what/ if anything we can do....

Review: Job to be completed by the contractor per pictures shown us and demos as to how the completed job by his company would look. The work done by this company looks nothing like the pictures and demos shown us, and he said he would fix the problems but hasn't done it.

(we have stated the problem below in the area of desired outcome)Desired Settlement: Job to be completed by the contractor per pictures shown us as to how the completed job by his company would look. The quality of work done at our residence should meet the pictures and demos that were shown to us, which it's not even close to the quality of work shown to us by him. The contractor said in emails he would fix problems and stated when he would fix the problems. But to no avail hasn't shown up here to remedy the problems. We would like the problems fixed immediately, except for the laying of the concrete or our money refunded to us to the extent of what it will cost us to have another contractor do the job. The contract we signed stated project would be started the end of May 2015, it's now October 2015 and we still don't have the job completed up to standards we were told and shown how finished work would look at our residence.

** and BadAss concrete are totally unqualified to do concrete work. He does not understand how to install his own product correctly. His results are inconsistent and have a terrible appearance. The product does not last and he does not stand behind his claim of a lifetime warranty. He makes excuses for everything, then wants to hit you with more charges. His lawyer is a high school friend of his...watch out...they have a racket going!

Review: There were a number of cracks and problems with the concrete job. The concrete by back patio had a gigantic crack in it. [redacted] assured us he would repair it, but never did. The job was completed Sept 9, 2013. We called him in late Sept, and he replied he was still too busy to come out to look at it. We contacted him again in Oct. and Nov., however he failed to return any of our calls. April 9, 2014 we called Mr. [redacted] again not only to complain about the crack by the patio, but also because more flaws appeared by the front stoop and at end of front walkway -- the decorative concrete peeled, there is a number of flaking and there is a second crack that developed by the back patio. Mr. [redacted] came to the house on April 18, 2014 to examine concrete. At that time he said he would come back within 3 weeks to make repairs. He never came back or called. We called him May 27, 2014 and his excuse was "we had a lot of rain", that was the reason he did not come to make repairs. We called again June 26, 2014 and left a voice mail message, still no reply. We called again July 21, 2014, once again he did not reply. We called again on July 25, 2014, we left a message, still no reply back.Desired Settlement: At this point, we no longer desire to work with this company, because Mr. [redacted] does not guarantee his work and provides horrible customer service. We would like a monetary refund of $2,000 so we can hire a another company to repair the damaged concrete. We have tried numerous times to work with Mr. [redacted], with all failed attempts!

Review: In Summer of 2014 we hired Decorative Concrete Surfaces LLC to put in our back yard patio. Upon completion we noticed the stairs that were put in look terrible. The stairs are a different color completely, splotchy, gritty, the corners are not corners and the color they used to do the stairs is splotched all over the rest of the patio. There are also other concerns such as we asked for saw lines and they gave us very large lines, the yard was left a mess, there was destruction of our new fence that we were told he would be glad to fix, we had to pay to have the waste taken away that they left in our yard as they left concrete waste by our curb in lawn bags. When speaking to him about our final payment he raised his voice and started to yell at my wife. She started to cry and she cut him the final check even though we were not happy with the final results and wanted them taken care of. ** said that he if the stairs did not "cure out" in the next couple of weeks that he would come out and we can talk about options.

We contacted [redacted] more than 15 times with all of our concerns We have attempted many times to have Al come out and take a look at the stairs. He responded to only a couple of those emails and always with excuses about how he is not able to make it back out to our house but that we are "on his board". He has not come out or even offered a date to come out. On October 8, 2015 we sent ** a final email stating clearly that if he does not contact us with a plan to resolve this matter that we would start to take action. He did not reply to the email.Desired Settlement: Our desired outcome is for Decorative Concrete Surfaces to come and fix the stairs completely and expeditiously.

There are so many disturbing issues with this, I don't even know where to begin. I really cant stand working with a customer that makes up such blatant and distorted stories to make themselves feel good about their actions. Our job was completed and paid for with actions concluding the same. There were in fact questions regarding the stoop/stair and we did in fact discuss this numerous times together. Further, we were scheduled to go there last week but upon receiving this distorted and twisted letter, I opted to back off to collect my thoughts and act accordingly. The ONLY thing I would even consider looking at is the stoop at this point as all of the rest of these things spoke about are beyond ridiculous.

Review: I have contracted with DCS to complete the work on our patio. Contract was agreed to in May, 2013, delivery of the new patio surface was expected in July, 2013, finally said the work would be completed September 27, paid by check to the President of the company on 9/22/2013, for 1/2 of the payment which was over $1,500. Work was not completed this weekend, have tried to reach [redacted], and no answer, voice mail box is full, and he is not returning phone calls or text messages asking for information about when the job will be completed.Desired Settlement: At this point, I would just appreciate a refund of our down payment of $175, plus the amount that was paid for the 1/2 of the deposit, which was over $1,500.

Spoke to [redacted], **, and he indicated that he had to go out of town on a family emergency and forgot his phone, so he was unable to return phone calls or text messages this past week. He has indicated that he will complete the work on our patio on Monday. I am satisfied with this response, and hope that the job will be completed by early next week. Thank you for your assistance in this manner.
