Deegan Roofing Company Reviews (37)

I am thankful I have taken the time to read reviews on this company I called them based on them being recommended by a friend However my friend did express her work was done years ago when the father was alive I am already stressed and have not even hired them The son came to my family house and gave me an estimate without even going up on the roof Mind you it's a family building and he claims he could tell where the leak was coming from, from where he was standing on the ground I stupidly submitted the claim to my insurance company and they sent their roofers out who took pictures of the roof My claim was denied as they determined it was patched up and not weather related I am screwed I too can verify the receptionist is very rude and is like their watch out person I called to speak to the son and she has told me when I sign the contract he would return my call, but not until then TACKY AND UNPROFESSIONAL!!

Deegan Roofing installed a flat roof that is leaking under the flashing against one of the side walls Brian Deegan came out and witnessed the leak in June and said they would repair the flashing He sent Dennis to fix the leak in late July He repaired a part of the flashing along the wall but not the all of the flashing along the wall (the total length of the wall is feet) The leak still exists Brian Deegan will not return messages, I can only talk to the receptionist whom says she relates the problem to Brian Deegan After numerous calls they sent Dennis and another Technician to witness the leak in mid September I have not received any response as to if, when, or how they are going to repair the leak I have made numerous calls to the receptionist who promises to get back to me, to date there has been no response

I would definitely recommend Deegan Roofing They installed a roof on our home last October Complete rip off and reinstall Did a great job and quickly Over the winter a few shingles came off on the hip which is because the shingles need heat to seal When I called their office they responded immediately and came out as promised and reinstalled the few shingles that came off Very satisfied with this company Second roof on our home from them and they also installed a roof on the home we sold years ago *** was a pleasure to talk with in their office and always returned my calls Quality company

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:
The contractor’s response is a total mischaracterization and still does not appear that they want to correct the leak.
1. After their last visit in September Deegan was to determine how to repair the leak and let me know when they would do the repair. They have not reached out to me since September, do not return calls, and now claim they are waiting for me to contact them again.
2. There is no reason that I need to be present for the repairs. The roof is fully accessible. In fact on their second visit I was not present when they unsuccessfully attempted a repair.
3. The flat roof does not pitch towards the house. It was checked before the roof was applied to confirm the structure pitches away from the house. The roofing was installed so that the overlapping seams in the roofing run perpendicular to the pitch causing a damming effect preventing the water from totally running off and causes it to seep under the flashing.
4. This is a porch. It was always clear that a walking surface would be installed over the roofing material. Deegan assured me that this material is the best choice for this application. The decking is specifically designed for installation on flat roofs.
5. The roof installation has not been altered since the original installation6. The flashing was indeed part of the contract, was installed the same day the roofing was installed, and the price was included in the initial quote, ie, not an extra charge.

The complaint was answered to my complete satisfaction.  I would like their Revdex.com record to reflect that.
Thank You.

MR [redacted] ORIGINALLY MET WITH THE CUSTOMER MRS [redacted] ON APRIL 3 2014 IN AN ATTEMPT TO FIX ONE OF THE MANY LEAKS. THE REASON FOR THIS IS SO THAT THE CUSTOMER COULD PROLONG THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE ROOF.
UNFORTUNATEY THIS TEMPORARY REPAIR DID NOT WORK AND THE ROOF IS AT THE...

END OF ITS LIFE. WE EXPLAINED THIS TO THE CUSTOMER HOWEVER THEY WERE NOT SATISFIED WITH THAT ANSWER.
IN ORDER TO KEEP THE CUSTOMER HAPPY, WE REFUNDED THEM 100% IN THE AMOUNT OF $615.25 ON JULY 24TH 2014 (CHECK NUMBER [redacted]) AND AGAIN, RECOMMEND A FULL ROOF REPLACEMENT WHEREAS THE ROOF AT THIS ADDRESS CAN NO LONGER ATTEMPT TO BE REPAIRED.

[redacted] contacting Deegan Roofing March 13th 2014 to assess a leak he was having. We met with him on March 18th 2014. After reviewing the leak, we provided him with an estimate for the least expensive route with no guarantee. The work was then completed on March 21st 2014 in the...

amount of $550.00 plus sales tax.  [redacted] then contacted us on October 22nd 2014 (approximately 7 months later) to say he is experiencing a leak in the same area. As a customer courtesy (no charge), Deegan Roofing sealed more areas with a sealant the very next day in an attempt to again temporarily patch this area. Again please note, there was no guarantee with the original work performed. [redacted] then called our office on December 9th 2014 with the same complaint (2 months later and a total of approximately 9 months since the original work was completed). We provided an estimate for additional work needed (also the least expensive route) for $375.00 which also took into consideration the previous work we have done for him.  [redacted] did not like this solution and wanted to speak to someone regarding this. We then sent our representative out TWICE in addition to multiple phone calls to [redacted] attempting to rectify the situation. At this point (now the end of February to beginning of March 2015), Mr Deegan did go away for 3 weeks and he did have a medical procedure soon after returning. Please also take into consideration that we are seasonal and we were not working due to the extreme low temperatures, snow and ice. However, despite these circumstances, Mr Deegan sent a representative out AGAIN to meet [redacted] on Friday March 13th at 11:00 am to go over ALL of his concerns and assess with him exactly what needed to be done.  We sent [redacted] an estimate on March 16th for $425.00 (again, the least expensive route) which also took into consideration the previous work we have done for him. However, if [redacted] would like us to refund his money and consider the (2) additional estimates provided to be null and void, we will be happy to do so.  We have provided [redacted] with exceptional customer service and have gone above and beyond for him (met and spoke with him numerous times!). Time is money. We await to hear what he would like us to do.

Deegan took down our chimney and left a hole in its place. No wood was added to support the new roof and the side of our house was left exposed to the elements without any siding or waterproofing. We called to complain and the Deegan nephew came to look at the problem. He decided no action was needed beyond giving us a quote of $1000 to fix our house. Deegan did not fix our roof (i.e., put wood up to support it) until our town insisted that he do so and even then it took another month for the work to get done.

This situation could have been easily fixed and not require our house to have a hole in it for 5 months but Brien Deegan refused to do the correct and professional thing. In fact, he has refused to speak to us since the roof work was done back in March 2016. It has been a nightmare dealing with him and his company.

He may have a low price but not so much so that it is worth the horror of dealing with him. DO NOT USE DEEGAN ROOFING!!!

This job was completed on July 13th 2012. Our first call/concern from the homeowner was in June 2016. Please note that is approximately (4) years after original installation....

Please note this is a flat back pitched roof that pitches back towards the main house. Since the completion of this roof, the customer had placed/installed wood planking/decking on top of this roof to create a walkway. This GAF manufacturer product is not designed to install any type of flooring/decking on top of it. Please see manufactures specs on this Ruberoid product (page 35).
http://www.gaf.com/Commercial_Roofing_Systems/Ruberoid_Modified_Bitumen_SBS_Memb... />
This homeowner is a very good customer of ours and it is our intentions to keep him happy. We have been out to meet with the homeowner on (3) different occasions. On one occasion, the owner of Deegan Roofing, Brien Deegan, met the homeowner as well in an attempt to rectify this altered roof situation. However, the homeowner has a very busy schedule, wants to be home when our Ruberoid roof specialist/technician goes, and is only available on Saturdays. Our Ruberoid roof specialist/technician does not work on Saturdays.

At this time, we are attempting to arrange a convenient day and time for both the homeowner and our Ruberoid roof specialist/technician. Please have the homeowner contact us with a date and time Monday thru Friday when our Ruberoid roof specialist/technician can meet with him to do additional flashing work (not included on original contract).

Again, this is a flat back pitched roof that pitches back towards the main house and what the homeowner has placed on top of this product is not recommended by the manufacturer.

We will wait to hear from the homeowner.

Thank you

This is not leaking in the area that we worked.
We would like to set up an appointment to meet with the homeowner WHILE it is raining and take a video as the leak enters the home to confirm this.
Kindly let us know a day and time. We will be on call the next rain.
Thank...

you

Review: Mar 2014 - Contracted and paid Deegan Roofing $588.50 to repair my leaking roof. Between Mar and Dec 2014, I called Deegan on two separate occasions because water continued to leak into the same area of my home's interior. 1st time, they put sealer on roof line where intial work was done. 2nd time, they explained leak was coming from another area and provided an estimate dated 12/10/14 for additional work of $375 to remove/replace rotted wood, install aluminum metal strip, and sealer. After I questioned the need for initial work, a Deegan employee came out and only added sealer to new area in Jan 2015 for no additional charge. Within a few weeks, water again leaked into the same area and I having been calling Deegan Roofing since around the end of January/beginning of February only to get voicemail, told someone will get back to me, no one was working because of weather, Mr. Deegan was on vacation, and today I was told Mr. Deegan was not available because he was having a procedure. Please note, I never refused to pay for the additional work. I simply wanted them to address my concerns about the possibility that the intial repair was unnecessary as evidenced by no rotted wood needing to be replaced, as well as other factors. At this point, I feel I have been more than patient and tried to resolved this appropriately. Because of Deegan's failure to stop the leak after 3 attempts and, even more importantly, their lack of response and professionalism, I have strong doubts about the company's integrity and no longer want to do business with them. I just want my money back because they failed to resolve the problem I paid them for.

I am rejecting their offer to do further repairs at an additonal charge because they have failed to address my concern that the first repair was necessary and I also strongly disagree with Deegan's assessment of their responsiveness and customer service. I do accept their offer of a full refund .

I strongly disagree with Deegan

Review: Deegan roofing came to my home to repair a soft spot in the roof. The roof never leaked. The next day it rained and the spot where Deegan repaired was leaking very much. I called Deegan and they cam back a few days later and made some adjustments to the work. The next few days it continued to leak. I contacted them again and they said

I would need a whole new roof. I contacted 3 other roofers and NONE of them told me I needed a new roof. I had to hire another contractor to fix the work Deegan did. The roof is now good. I called Deegan over 3 times for a refund. They kept telling me they would call me back and they never did.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund of the cost Deegan charged me to repair my roof. Approximatkey $600.

RE: Deegan Roofing
I had no problem with [redacted] or [redacted] the foreman
of roofing crew
they did the big mold remediation.
the women called
me daily,
they emailed, they
were professional
- got a dumpster in early.
IDK if these complaints are even referring to this company!
They came out on Sunday early to avoid
any chance for rain,
a roof I had was leaking, they did mold remediation, replaced wood damaged, showed me photos -and even after I accidentally okd charcoal roof they let me get hickory.
the foreman was awesome, guys were awesome and [redacted] was professional and courteous. [redacted] was wonderful and [redacted] the foreman was awesome!
I would highly recommend Deegan Roofing and I have given them another job already ;)
thanks so much guys and [redacted] and [redacted]

Used Deegan roofing to fix my roof 12/05. Had a leak this past weekend with the rain, called them about guarantee. They said it was for 10 years and they would charge me to fix it because it is 10 years and 2 weeks. Basically told me to go screw myself. Don't bother with this company if that is their attitude.

Review: On October 14, 2013 Deegan gave me an estimate to replace the two roofs and flashing on my home. The cost for this was $4900.00 which was paid in full (two installments). I made the final payment when the work was completed on Oct 30, 2013.

To clarify we actually have two, separate small roofs. They are not contiguous. To explain my problem better I will call roof A the roof that is over the garage portion of my home, and roof B the section over my living room.

I had serious problems with Roof B, major leaks after they installed a new roof. They did repair Roof B after waiting many months and having my living room ceiling leak so bad I needed pots and plastic to catch the water.

However, Roof A has had 11 shingles blow off, their own rep said the entire roof needed to be replaced- however they are unwilling to replace the roof that was installed incorrectly.

Upon further investigation with the Town of [redacted], I was told [redacted]s a “double nail” situation. On the shingles that I have collected, TEN to date, there were only 3 nail holes in each shingle that blew off Roof A. They did not follow the guidelines of the Town, nor of the [redacted] shingles they installed. The [redacted] web site, of which they are an authorized dealer, states it is a SIX NAIL fastening pattern that should have been followed.

I feel that they did not install Roof A properly and I want the shingles removed and new shingles installed with 6 nails as specified. It states in the [redacted] web site” If shingles are damaged by winds the shingles may never seal” So I request that they remove the old shingles and replace them with new shingles and nail each one with SIX nails.Desired Settlement: I would like Roof A removed and replaced and re nailed correctly.

Response:

This customer's roof was completed on 10/28/2013. Prior to any work being done, [redacted] showed me all the leaks that they had and all the sheetrock stains in the house from the leakage (approximately 8 stains). Also please note that [redacted] had a lot of other roofing contractors out to his home and had nothing but negative things to say about them all (gave me an ear full at the time I gave him the initial estimate).

Roof was completed and yes, [redacted] did have a few shingles blow off during several heavy wind storms. But please note both times, Deegan Roofing came out immediately and corrected the issue.

[redacted] also said MY worker told him that we did not flash his chimney properly. (This is a lie) My worker he is referring to [redacted]) has been working for me for over 17 years and never have we had an issue with a customer making such a statement about him.

Roof was installed correctly up to state standards. If [redacted] has any more issues or concerns relating to the manufacturer's warranty, we will be more than happy to set up an appointment with the manufacturer representative from [redacted] (This homeowner received a [redacted] shingle)

Please also note that this roof has to settle. (it is a newer installation) I'd also like to mention that [redacted] said that 15 shingles blew off his roof. When our technician got to his home, there were only 3 PARTIAL shingles that blew off and there were 5 nail holes in these partial shingles. (our installations include extra nailing in the cold tar area of the shingle) Again, the roof was installed up to state standards.

I'd like to conclude by saying [redacted] has other leaks/issues with his home that have nothing to do with the roof job that we completed and we have submitted proposals for this additional work. Kindly find a copy of that proposal attached.

If you need any further information/details, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you

Review: I called Deegan Roofing in late March to have them come out and look at an area of the roof that was leaking over our indoor staircase. They came out and determined the area needed to be re-patched, and send me a proposal 4/4/14 for $575.00 plus 7% sales tax. The work was completed on or about 4/21/14. About a week or two after, it rained again and the roof was still leaking in the same place. We called Deegan Roofing, and they came out and explained some of the nails on the area they had patched had risen. They hammered them back down and we were told that should do the job. After that it rained again, and the area continued to leak. Another call to Deegan roofing resulted in a worker coming out and showing us another area of the roof that needed repair. The new area needing work is a slope toward the front of the house. The area leaking is in the rear. The two are completely unrelated. The worker said he needed to speak with his boss regarding the leak and would call us, but we never received a call. On 6/11/14 we received another proposal for $1,100.00 to repair the irrelevant front slope. On 6/29/14 I left a message for them which was returned 8:30AM on 6/30/14. I returned their call at 11:45 that same morning and left another message. With no call back, I called again on 7/7/14 and spoke to [redacted]. I explained the situation to her and she said she would look up my file and someone would call me back. By 7/9/14 I had no call back so at 11:00AM I called again and left a message explaining I would be filing a complaint if I did not get a call back. At 13:45 [redacted] returned my call. I had to re-explain the situation to her, and she assured me I would receive a call back from the owner no later than 7/10/14. I write this complaint 7/17/14. I have yet to receive a call back.Desired Settlement: I paid to have a leak fixed, and it was not fixed. The office cannot even honor a promise to call me back, let alone come fix the leak. My desired outcome is to have the leak fixed with no additional charges, since it was not fixed the first time you tried.
