Found a camera on Amazon thru Delta Closeouts for the right price and made the order with my bank card. This was obviously to be a Christmas present. Several days later, I receive an email with my order number and request to call Jerry who was handling my order, which I immediately did. He claimed to not have received the 3 digit security code on my card, which I gave him. He then preceded to tell me that I did not purchase the battery pack with the camera and he could save me money by selling me one. After three refusals the conversation got a bit heated, with Jerry informing me that the camera warranty will be voided if I use the regular batteries, (which is how Nikon designed it to operate in the first place, a selling point for me.) I told him no, just to send me the camera, and he ended his part of the conversation by telling me that it would cost me 80 dollars somewhere else. Having a funny feeling over the weekend, I called back the following week, and spoke with someone else (I think), requesting a tracking number. I was told that the camera was on back order, and wouldn't arrive until January 16th, and I would get it 5 days after that. No one had communicated this to me, or even suggested that it would be late. So I bought it at the local Best Buy. Called today to cancel my order. When asked for a conformation number for the cancellation, he said they didn't do that, and I would have to take his word on it. I did get his name however, it was Bruce B[redacted], at least that was the claim. I will be informing my Bank, not to accept any payment requests from these people. BUYER BEWARE
Added charges without informing me.
I ordered a Nikon Smartpix camera because it was such a good deal ($50 less) than an online retailer I was familiar with.
The emailed me to call them and confirm my order. I did that and they asked for the last 3 numbers on my card, I think that was just an excuse to upsell me. They warned me this didn't come with the battery or charger and I asked why I would need that since this model takes AA batteries. I declined the "battery package" and asked them to send a sales confirmation.
They said they didn't do that, the email they send just gave the order#.
They never sent the camera or contacted me again even though it was in stock. I wish I would have read the online reviews of this company. They are all negative. I think it is a bait and switch scam, they want you to purchase a more expensive camera package that includes the batteries.
Also, the address on their website does not even exist.
