Denali Real Estate Reviews (47)

Never ever do business with Denali
It was a disappointing & awful business experience. This one star review is specifically for the Denali in Arizona, Michael Van Vleck. If you are in need of getting ahold of him, good luck. Bad, bad, bad, communicator & impossible to get in touch with. First come first served with no plan “B”. Absolutely no communication between all parties, including Denali representatives. Asking tenants for more money beyond rent, for what? Playing the “Blaim game” between tenants & landlord, way to go first grade! Not paying security deposit to landlord, holding funds in who knows what account, without opportunity to reinvest, hmmmm, not a great business move. Landlord not receiving funds from tenant till late in the month (25th ish) because Denali can’t get the accounting done promptly. The relationship ended with Michael name calling the landlord like a bully on the playground. Would not recommend any business relationship with this company. If zero stars were available as a review score, that would be the rating for our experience.

No communication and no return on deposits
47 days after having a walk through... Sill no response from Denali regarding my deposit. No response to emails, phone calls, even a demand letter after a lawyer recommended sending one. Aside from the unfair treatment of the entire 14 months - (the last month I didn't even live there so they had an extra month paid for to rent out) and they wont reply.

Stay away!!!
I absolutely cannot recommend Denali to manage your home. He seemed to provide honest and fair service several years ago, but I more and more felt he was taking advantage of me being out of town. When the tenants move out early from his lease, he did nothing of the agreed upon work for almost 2 months. In that time frame he didn't even do a basic cleaning he was charging the tenants for. This way preventing me to move on with selling the home. He also refused me access to my own home. Not only he wouldn't return the keys he was entrusted with while I was out of country. He did have a lock-box but refused to give me the access code. Finally I had to pay a locksmith to get access. The list goes on. So he cashed a check from my insurance and later claimed he never received it, until after working with the police I could prove that he cashed it. In several months he did not manage to get outstanding repairs organized with my home warranty, my best guess as he wasn't making extra money on it. He is quick to respond that everything is someone else fault and that he did everything that is legally required by him, but in my opinion he looks for any way he can harm you and profit himself. I'm pretty sure he overcharged me on his fees (tax preparation), and he finally agreed to reimburse me but never did.
MY RECOMMENDATION: STAY AWAY!

Please report them to the Attorney General's office - it will make a difference when enough people share their story. I had a horrible experience as well.

Beware does not communicate and or return security deposit
My lease ended in December of 2021. It is now March 2022 90+ days later and I still have not received my security deposit or itemized deduction. Michael the owner of Denali has stated multiple times he will send it out to me. Jason my property manager says it’s not his problem and Michael is the only one who can issue checks. Now when I follow up I get no return emails or calls. His office staff will not even try to connect you they reply with they will only pass along messages and they will try and have him return your call. HELLO DENALI I AM STILL WAITING FOR MY SECURITY DEPOSIT AND ITEMIZED DEDUCTION

Property Management Failure
PUBLIC CONSUMERS ATTENTION! IMPORTANT! (Message me)

I hired Denali Real Estate as property management company, Mike is the owner and they have took my money and never returned my deposit back to me it's been over 35 days! Mike lied to me so many times and promised me if I was unsatisfied with their service they would cancel without any problems. As soon as I signed up with Mike the next day I could not get a hold of Mike and no communication at all from this company. Mike did not post our house for rent on time, instead he delayed the process and listed our property after couple of days, which caused us financially. Once when I called Mike and expressed how unhappy I was, he got loud with me and said I don't care, it's not my house and you have to deal with me.

Mike has violated multiple code of conducts within the Arizona Department of Real Estate who issues Mike's license for misconduct and lying to consumers to get their money and he stops communicating back.

I have filed a formal complain with Arizona Department of Real Estate (azre.gov) that issues Mike's license (message me for help). Also filed a formal complain with the city of Mesa (mesaaz.gov) who grant business license to their LLC. Also with Arizona Real Estate Investors Association (azreia.org) and National Association of Residential Property Managers
(narpm.org) and National Association of Realtors (nar.realtor).

People a review is not as strong as a formal complain. Above are the sites to file your formal complains if you encounter an issue with Mike and their company so they can investigate and stop this fraud!

Massage me for help.

Please also report them to the Attorney General's Office. I spoke to them today and they said they investigate and the more reports the more they look into it.

The deposit was returned to the tenant as required. We sent it to the tenant via certified mail but apparently it was lost in the mail as we do not have any record of it being delivered by the *** *** ***. We do have record/copy of the certified mailing along with the date
it was mailed. Since we do not show the refund check was cashed by the tenant, we cancelled the original check and reissued a check. This was also sent out via certified mail and the tenant confirmed yesterday that it was received via certified mail. We do have the documentation of the original and second mailings along with all tenant move out documentation if that is needed. Please contact me at ###-###-#### or at *** if you have any additional questions.Thank you,*** *** ***

I was also told my deposit was sent and somehow "lost in the mail" - I was only given information after contacting the Attorney General's Office. The lost mail didn't make it to a locked mailbox and a mailbox that gets daily informed delivery. I contacted the office multiple times to indicate it wasn't received and even though was told the company was happy to re-issue the check - it still isn't here. Perhaps sending things certified would help?

The staff at Denali are very helpful and courteous!

I love Denali real estate and the whole team their services are awesome

My wife and I have used Denali Real Estate to manage our rental property for 7 years and it has been an amazing experience! Mike VanVleck and his team have time and again gone above and beyond my expectations, making our lives SO much easier. They take care of absolutely everything related to the property, from advertising, communicating with tenants, handling repairs, all the paperwork, etc. I literally don't do anything other than answer an occasional call or email from them letting me know of a maintenance issue on my property, giving me the lowest bid from their various contractors and asking for my approval to proceed. Fantastic service at a very fair price point and I never feel like just a number to them. I give Denali my highest recommendation!

Great experience from my first interaction to my most recent maintenance needs. Team is great and website is easy.

For about a year now, I have used Denali Real Estate to manage my rental property in Chandler, AZ. They have made everything so easy. I am completely hands off because Denali takes care of everything. They call my warranty company when something breaks, they schedule their handyman if my warranty company doesn't cover something, they hired the cleaners to clean my home to make it renter-ready, they found the renters, and the list goes on. They simply notify me here and there when they need to of little things. I use them because my husband used them for his property in Phoenix. I highly recommend!

I have lived under Denali Real Estate's management for 7 years. Mike was able to get us approved for a home despite our credit history when my late husband and I were in a tough spot and our current place was being condemned. Through the last 7 years, if there was a problem, Dennis handled it, even if it were minor. When my husband got sick and passed away, the whole staff worked with me to make sure I was alright and that what I needed was taken care of, including working with me when my rent was to be late for the month. I am blessed to have found them. I'm sure when I am having to move out and hopefully into my own house, I will have no issues with security deposit or anything like that.

The staff at Denali Real Estate has been easy to work with for the past 7 years. They are professional and prompt with responses and requests. Mike has always been very helpful, cooperative, and always helped with any and all leasing needs I had. I would strongly recommend them for any and all real estate needs.

Great company to work with if you have a credit history not so favorable. They are friendly, prompt and offer a great selection of rental properties. The front desk staff are very friendly!!!!!

I find it odd that across all review pages - everyone says the same thing - that they didn't get their check and the response is always that it was lost in the mail. I am still waiting for mine - happy to receive certified mail and a cashier's check is able to be tracked as well.

The complaint filed was from tenants that recently moved out of one of the rental homes we manage.   The tenants are correct that they expected the walk-through to be completed on July 1st and on my calendar I had it was to take place July 2nd.   I'm not sure how the mix-up...

occurred.  I completed the move-out inspection on July 2nd.   There were a few very minor items noted at the home on their move-out checklist and they did a very good job of cleaning and preparing the home after they moved out.   There was very little, if any, normal wear and tear.   There were two minor items the owner insisted, against my counsel, to deduct from the tenant's security deposit which totaled $100.00.  The tenants called our office this past week and indicated they had not received their security deposit in the mail.    I spoke to them July 23rd and indicated I would issue a stop payment on the check mailed out and print another check for them.   I offered to meet them on Saturday at my office to provide them with the new check, deposit itemization and move out checklist for their records. We met today, July 25th, and we had a discussion about the deductions, answered their questions and discussed other items relating to their tenancy.  I believe this item was handled to their satisfaction based on our discussion.I would also add that they were very good tenants and wonderful people.   I would welcome an opportunity to rent to them again.

Great real estate company! They really listen to the tenants and Dennis makes sure to get things done quickly and efficiently when something happens!! Thank you for being awesome!!! I know that things will continue to be great and make sure you contact them if you are wanting a great place to live!!!

After a negative experience I received a call from Denali. After discussing with Dennis, the situation it was a mis-understanding. Dennis is an Awsome guy!! He listened to what I needed done and got it done promptly. The 2 workers Dennis sent out were just as Awsome. They fixed what they needed to in a professional and timely manner and correct the first time around. Thanks Dennis!! I apologize for the negative review and if I could remove it, I most definitely would. After all is said and done, I would recommend Denali Real Estate to friends and family.

Working with Mike and the entire Denali team was great experience for both my wife and I. throughout our time renting from them they were quick to respond to us and very helpful with any and all issues. during our move out Mike was a direct and friendly line of communication that I relied on heavily to make sure that the process was seamless and positive for all parties involved, he made sure to take my families quality of living in to account when showing the property and gave me great direction on what needed to be done. thank you Denali.

The [redacted]

I rented a property from Denali 8/14/16, when I moved in the house was disgusting. Walls were dirty and sticky all the way up to ceiling. He had someone come in and paint over it. His cleaning service was to come and clean the house but didn't so I told him never mind because I can do it my self (didn't want to wait to move my stuff in). There were items left in the yard and storage, which I removed myself. Master bed room ceiling had bubbles in paint, later when it rained I had a leak that never got fixed. The AC stayed running all day long! Had someone come look at it and was told the insulation was not good and needed to be replaced. That also never got taken care of. At the end of my lease I made an appointment with the manager to meet at the property, which I waited there for a hour (took time off of work) and he never showed up!! Now I don't have pictures because I thought I was going to be present for the move out inspection and now he is throwing all these ridiculous fees at me that I cant even defend myself for. I should have taken pictures before I moved out for my records.

Please report this to the Attorney General's office - they can help when they get enough similar issues.
