DialAmerica Marketing Inc. Reviews (22)

I was called and asked if I'd like to renew my Jewelry Artist magazine in four installments for two years or twelve issues. I didn't receive a January issue until it was time for the March magazine to come out and now at the end of March, I'm still waiting on the March issue. I've called three times with zero satisfaction. While customer service is nice and polite they just say all they can do is submit a form. Still no issue in my hands and we all know the magazine came out before March even started. Never use them again.

After reviewing the information from the order that was placed, I was able to determine the following:>The sales representative from DialAmerica actually spoke to Mr*** ***> I do not believe that Mr*** agreed to renew the *** *** magazine subscription for Mrs

DialAmerica continues to auto call me just about everyday to renew a magazine subscription, even though I've indicated that I'm not interested in renewing that particuliar subscription. It's almost borderline phone harrassment. The number they are calling from does not allow you to call them back. "Just says we attempted to reach you and will try again another time".

I'd never order a magazine subscription through Dial America again.

After reviewing our files, I was able to determine that we canceled Mr. [redacted] order for [redacted] on 8/8/14. He may have received another bill before the billing process was canceled. We initially contacted Mr. [redacted] on behalf of our client, [redacted], to see if...

he wanted to renew his subscription.  At the point of call, we would not have known that a renewal notice had been sent in.I apologize for any distress or inconveneince this may have cause Mr.[redacted].Please let me know if you need any additional information.Sincerely,[redacted] VPDialAmerica

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I paid the first invoice I received after speaking to  the representative on the phone. It said [redacted] Magazine and I assumed it was the one I was to pay.  Thank you for straightening out this matter.  Once again the Revdex.com does a great job.

I received a call this evening stating that I had not renewed my daughter's gift subscription to a particular magazine. I informed her that instead of using the usual form, that I had gone online to see if by chance there was a senior's rate for me (and there was), so I renewed mine for two years and was almost certain that I had renewed my daughter's at the same time. I started to go through my credit card statements, but then thought this could take a while and wouldn't it be easier if I just called the magazine and asked. I'm so glad I did. When I told her I had received a call from DialAmerica about my subscription, she said they did not out-source their subscriptions to anyone and that I was lucky not to have shared any credit card information with them. I asked her how they knew my daughter's name and my name and she said she did not know, but it had to be someone phishing. BEWARE!!

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:  I will accept the response if the $36.00 is waived in addition.  FYI [redacted] Nordstrom is not my husband.

Upon receipt of this complaint, I reviewed our calling files and was able to determine the following:We contacted Ms. [redacted] on 8/27/14 regarding renewing her subscription to [redacted] magazine. The subscription offer was for 18 issues of [redacted] magazine for a total of $44.95 - or 4...

installments of $11.24 each.As a quality assurance measure, we ask each customer if we can "record" the sales confirmation. I listened to the confirmation and everything was done correctly and the order was processed. The agent mentioned that the call was from "Dailamerica". [redacted] magazine is one of our publisher clients.  I'm not sure her Ms. [redacted] spoke with at[redacted], but they did not give her accurate information. Ms. [redacted] mentioned she received a renewal notice from[redacted] magazine for a lower amount. I'm not sure how many issues that offer was for - our offer is for 18 issue, which would be for 3 years since it is a "bi-monthly"magazine.At this time, I have canceled her subscription. There may be another bill in the mail, which can be discarded. In addition, I have added her phone number, ###-###-####, to our internal do-not-call-file.I sincerely apologize to Ms. [redacted] for any distress or inconvenience our call may have caused her. Also, I would like to extend my condolences to her for the recent loss of her husband. Please let me know if you need any additional information.Sincerely,[redacted] [redacted] [redacted]

I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused Mr. [redacted].

I received a "delinquent account" notice for In Touch magazine. I called In Touch and they told me they do not outsource their subscriptions and to ignore the notice as my account was paid through them and current. Today, I got another notice.

DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM.

Review: Dial America operating under the name of "Dial Adjustment Bureau" sent us a bill that resembled a collection letter, stating that they were writing us because DialAmerica had made several attempts to contact us and had been unable to resolve our account. This account was for the subscription to The Family Handyman Magazine. We went ahead and paid the $19.95 bill, not wishing to have any black marks on our credit and because my husband thought he might have agreed to the subscription during a phone call several months earlier. However, after going back and reviewing our records, I found that we had paid Dial America $39.98 in March of 2011 for a 3 year subscription that would not expire until Sep of 2014. In addition, Family Handyman billed us directly in March 2012 and we paid them $10, and now another $19.95 to Dial Adjustment Bureau. By my calculations, our subscription is now valid until the end of 2017.

I don't feel that Dial America's making it appear to be turning over a bill to a collection agency is a legitimate practice.Desired Settlement: I do not want any further contact from Dial America or Dial Adjustment Bureau. If we want to extend our subscription to The Family Handyman or any other magazine, we will deal with them directly

Response:

Upon reviewing the above complaint, this is the information I was able to obtain:

Our records show that we processed an order on 1/21/13 for 17 issues of Family Handyman magazine for $19.95. The order was placed by Mr. [redacted]. the order was paid in full on 6/28/13.

Since the payment was "past due", we sent out reminders from "Dial Adjustment Bureau", which is a division of DialAmerica. We do not operate a collectiona agency - we just attempt to collect payments from our own busines. Also, we do not report information to any credit agencies.

I sincerely apologize any distress or inconvenience this has cused Mr. & Mrs. [redacted].

At this time, I have added their phone number, ###-###-####, to our internal do-not-call file and will not contact them in the future. In addition, we will send them a refund for the $19.95 in the mail because of all the trouble they went through with this order.

Please let me know if you have any questions or need additional information.

Sincerely,

Consumer

Upon receipt of this complaint I reviewed the sales records for any orders placed by [redacted]

I was able to find a renewal order placed by Ms. [redacted] on 9/19/13 for 48 issue of Bon Apetit at a total of $48.00. As a quality assurance measure, we ask the customer for permission to tape the confirmation. Ms. [redacted] gave us permission to record. I listened to the confirmation and Ms. [redacted] authorized the order.

At this time, we have cancelled the subscription. There is nothing due on the account.

Please let me know if you have any question s or require additional information.

Review: I have received a bill from Dial Adjustment Bureau. They are claiming that this is a debt collection for a cooking light subscription. I have had a cooking light subscription in the past which I paid for in full and did not renew the subscription. I am not receiving cooking light magazines. They are asking for a payment of $36.00. There is not a phone number to contact Dial America.Desired Settlement: I would like for them to stop contacting me and I do not want a bill from them for a service I am no receiving.

Review: I received a telephone call from Reader Digest to renew my subscription. I was not told that it was not Readers Digest but another telephone ordering company. After I received the bill I canceled before the subscription started. They continue, now with threats to collect on what would be a double collection of a subscription my wife renewed by mail.Desired Settlement: A reply indicating that they stop attempting collection.

During our “sales confirmations” over the phone, we ask each customer if we can "record" the confirmation for quality assurance purposes. We received an affirmative response from Mr. [redacted]. Here is a recap of the confirmation:The sales agent reviewed Mr. [redacted]’s renewal offer to Reader’s Digest Large Print 24 issues for $49.95 — payable in 4 installments of $12.49. During the call, the agent mentioned DialAmerica several times. Mr. [redacted] asked why it was not Reader’s Digest calling and she explained to him that we were asked to call on behalf of Reader's Digest to see if their customers would like to renew their subscriptions. He seemed fine with that response and the call ended. At this time, we have cancelled Mr. [redacted]’s subscription through DiaIAmerioa. I apologize for any confusion or distress this situation may have cause Mr. [redacted].In addition, we have added Mr. [redacted]’s phone number, ###-###-####, to our internal do-not-call list and will not contact him in the future.

Review: I received a call to renew my subscription to Weight Watchers magazine. I indicated I was going to renew. An invoice came and I paid it. Weight Watchers renewed me and I am getting the magazine. I have confirmed with them I am paid in full. Dial America keeps sending me invoices and is talking about collection procedures. Please have them call Weight Watcher because according to WW I am paid up.Desired Settlement: I would like these notices to stop and for the company to acknowledge there is not a collection issue.

I never spoke with any of their representatives, and I NEVER deal with third parties when renewing subscriptions. Review: This company called me at home and told me they were from[redacted] magazine, which I subscribed to. I had failed to renew my subscription because I was upset over the loss of my husband of 25 years. They told me they would renew my subscription and told me it would be for something like $44 dollars or a four part payment process. Believing they were from[redacted], I assumed the cost had increased and said ok. I received the billing notice in the mail and it was not from [redacted] magazine, as it had always been before, so I called the magazine to check. They told me this was a scam, they were not in any way affiliated with DialAmerica and that I should go to the official website and file a complaint. Thery also renewed my magazine subscription for $10 - not the $44 something that this DialAmerica had given me. This is a very nasty high-pressure sales technique that is preying upon the elderly (I am 60 years old on Saturday) and recently bereaved.Desired Settlement: I want cancellation of this billing that was obtained under fraudulent circumstances.
