Diminished Value of Oregon Reviews (26)

Thank you for your response, however since I contacted you the company has contacted me and is working with me again.
[redacted]

We are working with the Clients ([redacted]) on this. The problem lies with the their vehicle having multiple prior claims against it dating back to 2010. Normally, once we determine there were multiple prior claims, we stop, and there is no appraisal completed and a refund is only issued if the...

combined outlay of our hourly rate and the cost of supporting documentation at that point is less than the cost of the appraisal. This is the norm, unless the client purchases additional appraisals and supplies documentation for the prior damage so we can determine the residual diminution in value from the prior claims. This is an industry standard. I am a licensed appraiser and expert witness, unlike most of the online Diminished Value "experts" online, who are not licensed. I have to follow rules and as an officer of the court, I cannot produce a false or incomplete appraisal. I produce each appraisal in compliance with USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice) standards. Before I can complete the appraisal that the client purchased, I have to determine the residual diminution of value related to 3 PRIOR LOSSES. 12/12/09 GEICO, 10/29/10 ALLSTATE (VAND) $1131, 8/15/11 ALLSTATE (FRT/ RF) $4045.
Normally, in these instances, I inform the client that I have done as much as possible and can not complete the appraisal based on the unknown prior damage. Occassionally If I feel I may be able to still produce the appraisal, as in this instance,  I continue to investigate and collect information to try to put the appraisal together for clients when I have time. Since acquiring this type of information can literally take months, I normally just keep working on it until we've either found a way to produce the appraisal or exhausted all possiblities. With this Client's vehicle, I have found the most significant prior damage was in August of 2011 where the vehicle was in a collision with a Honda Pilot in Florida. Based on the information we have collected up until this time, I believe I need only a small amount of additional information and I will be able to depreciate the prior damage and complete the appraisal. In accordance to our terms of service, if we are unable to complete the appraisal, a charge of $75 per hour (which is half our normal hourly rate of $150.00 per hour)plus any costs for history reports, etc. are levied against the cost of the appraisal. In this case, we have over 15 billable hours related to this appraisal and approximately $100 for additional historic damage reports, and other documentation purchased. Which just considering labor, would be over $1,125. in hourly services they have received against their flat fee of $275 they paid for the appraisal. I feel our service is a great value. We provide a flat fee appraisal so clients know how much their total cost is before hand, and the clients are not changed one penny more, even if we have to work on the appraisal months longer to try to determine the loss of value. I even provide a money back guarantee on completed appraisals. In most cases, we would have determined that we could not complete the appraisal due to prior damage, and would have charged our normal hourly rate against it. But I found enough information on the prior 2 claims, that I was feeling we would be able to produce a valuation. The problem was that during our investigation, we found more prior claims against the subject vehicle. We are working with the client and hope to have the appraisal completed for them soon based on the information on the previous collisions we've been able to acquire.

I can't believe this guy. His appraisal wasn't used by the insurance company at all. They did their own appraisal on our car, and his appraisal wasn't used at all. He should have known it was a waste of our time and money to use his report, but he sold it to us anyways. We submitted all of our documents to him on May 4, 2014, and he blew us off for over a year, and now that I've been sick for the past couple of weeks, he suddenly cares about helping us with our case and now doesn't want to refund our money yet again. We never once asked this guy for legal advice, we simply followed the instructions in his packet, and I guess he's never actually had someone do that before. I will get the insurance company's appraisal that they used instead of his today, so that there's no more confusion. I can't wait until I no longer have to deal with this guy. What a work of art.
Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. Sincerely, [redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:

I have called and emailed Ken using all emails he provided me. He simply stopped responding to me. Even if his appraisal was not ready in 3 weeks, 2 months, or even 6 months, it is unacceptable to not have any communication to inform the customer of the status. If delays continued to occur, I should have been informed.

At at no time have I received any appraisal from Ken N**, not even the one he said he was sending the day of his Revdex.com rebuttal. My contact information has not changed in at least 10 years, especially my mailing address, as well as my email. I want to see the appraisal only through Revdex.com to assess its validity. I have trepidation about the service, and credibility of the appraisal.

Let it me respond to Mr N**'s indication that I requested or expected him to rush his research and final appraisal. That would not help me in any way since I was depending upon him to provide an accurate and trustworthy report that I can use to finalize my diminished value claim.
Sincerely,[redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: Diminished Value of Oregon's response is inappropriate, and completely un-business-like, as was Ken N**'s choice to ignore our phone calls concerning the numerous errors in the document.  We are asking for a full refund in the amount of $225, which is the cost we paid for the Diminished Value document which reflected an incorrect date for our our trucks year, causing our case to be devalued as a result.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

The vehicle is a VERY unique Luxury Vehicle and I was having a VERY hard time locating comparables with over 100,000 miles on them. Comparing the vehicle to similar vehicles under 100,000 miles was grossly devaluating the vehicle. The client was aware of this and was in agreement and stated he was...

more interested in us finding comps with similar miles, in order to prove a higher value. It appears I spoke to the client the same day he filed a complaint, which under his request we closed the valuation with the comps we had, which we did and had the appraisal to him the very next day. The client made the request directed to my cell phone, of providing a complete appraisal or his money back. I was in court at the time of the request (which requires I turn my phone off during court). I answered in a timely manner and provided the report within 24 hours of the request.
