Discount Appliance Repair Reviews (23)

Review: On June 13, 2014 we had Discount Repair to our home to checdk out of problem with our refrigerator in our garage. The refeigerator was running what seemed like all the time. Only shutting off for a few minutes and them running again. The repair man checked the refrigerator out and even though it kept the food cold in both the refrig and freezer, that it needed a new temperature contol. He said he would order it and would be back on Wednesday the 19th of June to install it. We gave him a $118.77 deposit on the control. He returned on the 19th and installed it and we gave him another $118.77 which was balance due. On Thursday the 20th we noticed that the refrig was still running. We kept a watch on it and it continued to run. Discount Repair was called on the 20th and they returned our call on Friday the 21st. He person who called had an attitude and said it was our fault we did not tell the repairman that the refrig was still keeping things cold and we should call someone else to get a second opinion. He got loud and attitudle and said he had things to do and hung up on us. In their ad say that the key to their success is satisfaction and they promise 100% satisfaction with their service. This we did not received and the cost was $237.54 to not receive it.Desired Settlement: With his attitude we do not want them in our home again. We would like a refund in order to have it correctly fixed. We do not want to pay twice for something they couldn't or didn't fix.

I am rejecting this response because:

Review: Appliance repairman hired to repair problem with broken door on a dishwasher (needed a chair pushed up against it to keep closed to use it, but working fine) Also had a front load washing machine door hinge broken (washer also working fine)

I paid over $700 total to have both things fixed. First time I used dishwasher after his "repair" it had same problem. Washer worked fine with new door until it got to the spin cycle...where it kept running but didn't spin. New problem since he touched my washer.

The dishwasher he never fixed ....and even ruined it so much I had to replace it! He said washer needed a new motor (which I found odd since it was still running and I never had a problem before he touched it). Now my washer was also rendered unusable!

The company reimbursed me $200 after many complaints on my part.....but still walked away with over $500 more of my money....not to mention I ended up with 2 unusable appliances which I had to replace! (And they were working before he ever stepped foot in my house)

The manager was very rude, gave me a false email address to send my complaint, and even hung up the phone on me!

He will not provide any information on the technician's credentials for me either.

I feel as though this was one huge scam.Desired Settlement: I would like ALL monies paid to these people returned to me.

At first I was willing to just pay the actual service call...but now, in light of their rudeness, their refusal of providing me with documentation of the technician's certification and the fact that because of their technician I have had to now replace two very expensive appliances......I would like all my money back.

Response:

Our repairman attempted to repair a dishwasher door for this customer. The repair attempt on the dishwasher was unsuccessful. In some cases, the structure of the appliance has existing damage rendering the appliance un-repairable, and this can not be identified until the repair is conducted. This is not the fault of the technician, although the customer places blame on the technician for this. We gave the customer a refund of $279, not the $200 reported. If the customer did not receive this amount they should contact us for the remainder. Technician also repaired a door on a washer. The door repair was re-examined, and no problem was found with the door repair. The technician found a bad washer motor on the return visit. The customer places blame on the door repair, however the job was done correctly. If a customer chooses to conduct a repair, there is no guarantee that another part may be found to be bad, after the repair has been made. The techncian is not the cause of the addtional repairs that are necessary, and our company is under no obligation to bare the customer’s loss in such a case. We told this customer, that if prove was presented to us from another qualified repair company, that showed the motor was functioning properly, we would reconsider the request for a washer refund. However the customer provided no such proof. It is unlikely that this customer’s appliances were in working order prior to the service visits, as the customer had been forcing the doors to close with furniture.

Review: The company charged my credit card but has never provided a receipt or an itemized bill. I have no way of verifying the expense other than my credit card statement or of knowing what work was actually done.
