We moved into a new home and received a offer for a free ADT system install plus a $100 VISA card.
When the technician arrived he tried to add a additional $1200 in equipment.
We refused to allow the additional equipment to be installed.
Then the monthly charge went from $30 per month to $48 per month due to a "more secure" monitoring system they installed
To add insult, when I received the application for the $100 VISA card there is a $4.95 shipping & handling fee.
I feel that the whole experience is nothing more than the old bait and switch scam.
If you receive any "free" offers from Defenders/ADT throw them away and save yourself the money

I had contact with this company this evening and wanted to have someone come out just to go over equipment options and to give me a price. The first guy I talked to wanted my social security number. I would not give it to him. He got someone who said he was the manager, he wanted my credit card number to pay $99. for them to come out and give me a price quote. Just to get a price, they claim they need my social and credit card. On their website it has the Revdex.com logo but when I put in the business on your website it says it is not Revdex.com accredited. I just want to warn people about this company.

complaint would like for collection call to cease and permit discrepancy be

the time of installation (3/27/15), county of residence required a permit for
all security systems. As of 7/1/15, a permit is no longer required. Therefore,

complaint alleges he was promised (per conversation with security advisor) a
credit of $249 towards the upgrade of cameras.Acknowledgement of Resolution:In regards
to Complaint #[redacted], we have
carefully reviewed the matter and bring forth the following recommendations.  Owner of complaint received a total credit of
$1666.00. This amount includes a value of $850 worth of equipment at time of
installation and then an additional credit of $816.  Our company is in no position to confirm or
negate in private conversation that took place between client and security
advisor during time of installation. We can only state that no notes reflect
this agreement. Relative to any inconvenience this matter has cause the client,
we have mailed him a $100 Visa Gift Card. We ask that client allows up to 14
business days for the gift card to arrive.  Additional matters in regards to billing and price discrepancy, we ask
that client refer to ADT corporate as they are the owners of the account.Again, we
apologize for any misunderstanding and look forward to providing the client

complaint alleges grounds for release of contract, client states that she was
misinformed on service/product compatibility.Acknowledgement of Resolution:In regards
to Complaint #[redacted], we have
carefully reviewed the matter and bring forth the following recommendations.
Owner of complaint under “express consent,” voluntarily provided contract
signature. Her voluntary actions bind her to a “financial” duty relative to the
length of contract. Owner of complaint was provided access to the terms and conditions
of the 36 month contract.  Failing to
comply within contract’s three day opt-out period, contract holds as irrevocable
(w/limited relief) and enforceable. Our notes reflect that customer was
installed a security system on 10/02/15. Continuation of notes show that
customer waited until 10/15/15 to attempt cancellation. In addressing the
matter of being misinformed in regards to system compatibility (and reduction
in MMR), we are open to reviewing any notes that our service technician
provided, however, we are unable to confirm or negate any private communication
that took place during the time of installation. If you would like to submit
the written note, again we are more than happy to review that. All documents
can be forwarded to [email protected]. In regards to cancelling
services, client will immediately become responsible for 75% of the balance of
contract (amount owed is $1256.37).Our
primary goal is to reach a reasonable resolution and retain a professional
business relationship. We remain committed to negotiating this matter and look

This company has an enormous "hold time." I have been trying to reach them for a week. I am left on hold 30 to 45 minutes, only to be disconnected. The menu to choose the reason for your call is very confusing. If you choose option 1, you will be transferred to ADT. Then you will have to wait another 30 minutes or more, just to be transferred back to Defenders Inc. A representative answered after a 40 minute wait on one of my attempts. However, after answering and taking my identifying information, I was placed on hold again. I had more than 1 question. For each question, I was transferred to another department, each has the same hold-time problem. Very frustrating, and nothing is getting accomplished.

This letter is in response to the complaint # [redacted] by [redacted]. By way of background, Defenders, Inc.  DBA Protect Your Home is an Indiana corporation that specializes in selling residential alarm systems. We have been an ADT authorized dealer since 1998 that sells and installs ADT monitored security systems. Once the security system is installed, the contract is then purchased, billed, serviced and maintained by ADT.
 
In summary, Mr. [redacted] states he was to receive a $100 Visa gift card and a rate of $45.00 a month. He stated that he did not receive these items and would like this honored.
 
Mr. [redacted] contacted one of Protect Your Home’s full sale partners to set up his account. The customer went through Dish Installations full sale campaign. Per Dish, “If customer is asking about a gift card not listed on the account, direct them to www.myalarmrebate.com, enter ticket number ([redacted]) and follow rebate instructions. Partner offers and fulfills gift cards.”
 
He will need to follow the instructions listed above to receive the Visa gift card. In regards to the monthly rate, Protect Your Home offers $48.99 for the cellular back-up. We do not offer a rate for $45.00. I would recommend that this complaint be forwarded to Dish Installations so they can review the sales call and provide a response to that inquiry. We do not have access to their database.
 
I apologize if Mr. [redacted] was inconvenienced during this process, but I appreciate the opportunity to address his concerns and help come to a resolution.

The technician came out to the house to remove the system. Now I have a hole in my wall where the control was mounted. I would like to know who is responsible for patching the hole. I believe that if you put a hole in the wall, it is your responsiblity to fix it.

They have there installers tell you one thing ( your price will be $19.99 per month for the first year) and will tell you to sign here (different price), when you question it the will tell you will see the difference in a check sent to you. You will never see the check. And when you talk to there customer service they will tell you there is nothing they can do because of the contract you signed says a different price. Big scammers!! But ADT corporate is wonderful, they can't switch your contract but really work with you.

complaint is no longer viable. The contract has been cancelled and client paid
the balance of the BOC. In regards to client’s statements, the 6 month
guarantee clause is relative to “3 same service issues, with the system then
being defined as inoperable.” Application of the 6 month clause would then be
applicable. Again, client did not meet these conditions, therefore, cannot
build claim to fore-mentioned clause. Client should refer to the entirety of
the contract for clear interpretation. We extend an apology in advance for any
