We have reviewed the response. We understand Mr***'s perspective concerning his missing items. As a final goodwill gesture we will offer an additional $100, making the total payout at $230.00. This is our final offer due to the fact the valuation coverage that Mr*** selected at per pound, per article, warranted a payout of the missing box at $

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
They were NOT goodwill credits, they overcharged me and finally corrected after days and hours of fighting with themThey had inadequate staff and thus this is why damage occurredTHEY are lying, the manager flat
out said the man was uncontrollable and defiant, They have never sent an additional checkI claimed everything prior to any additional moves and they were notifiedThey authorized all above repairs via email then recantedUNACCEPTABLE services provided that resulted in damages they are not repairingONLY mover arrived it has nothing to do with packers

I would like to thank Dodge Moving and Storage, as well as our driver *** and our packing help *** and ***) for the extreme honesty and professionalism that was extended to us during our move from StLouis Missouri to Charlotte North Carolina
In the frenzy of moving, we failed to remove and pack (on our own) four extremely value coins and our sentimental keepsakes; leaving these items to be packed and moved by Dodge Moving and Storage We did not list them on the "high value" inventory list or even mention to our drive *** that they were of importance
When our household items arrived in Charlotte, and these items did not appear to come off the truck, *** took great care to inventory our entire (10,lb, 300+ box) shipment When the items could not be located our move coordinator *** her supervisor and the drivers dispatcher (***) began researching the missing box
At every step of the process I was reassured that this box would be found Despite our fears that the worst had happen, Dodge Moving and Storage sent a second moving crew (based in Charlotte) to help us re-inventory our entire shipment, once again with the complete assurance that the box would be found
We watched as box after box was rechecked, and a half hour into the process, the missing box (one of 300+) was located with all the contents in place All four coins, irreplaceable Disney memorabilia, family heirlooms from the early all was in the box
We can not begin to express our deep gratitude to Dodge Moving and Storage and all the individuals who moved and packed us

The following is a copy of a letter mailed last week that I do not believe Mr*** has received, I would ask the he
review this letter and consider our offer a resolution, if not please let me know and I will investigate further

StCharles, MO XXXXX
Dear Dr***,
My General Manager requested I investigate and respond to your letter dated January 17, I have reviewed both move occurrences with our crews for their input as wellWe were very sorry to hear that you had issues on both moves
On your first move from Swansea, IL to StCharles you mentioned that it resulted in damage to your refrigeratorSince that move took place in July of the crew did not recollect details so I can only offer my apology for any mishapAny complaint or damage would have been responded to quickly had we been informed
In regards to the second move the crew confirmed that they did in fact stop long enough to make the necessary calls to our office to secure the additional help they felt was neededThey advised that there were a very large amount of packed by owner boxes but most had either open tops that then had to be sealed properly causing additional time and labor as well as many trash bags that had been packed instead of using a box also causing additional labor(Enclosed is a copy of the signed report confirming)
It was also relayed that you felt one of the crew members was rude to your wife, that movers were upset and complained of having to work late and intentionally hide behind a buildingThe crew members have been counselled regarding these issues as that type of behavior is never acceptable as an employee of Dodge Moving and Storage
The crew advised that they were instructed to deliver mostly all of the boxes from your son's home which came to approximately boxes and deliver those into a small garage just leaving you a path to get throughThey advised that the garage was loaded pretty high with boxes but felt they had delivered per your designation
At the delivery location they advised that did not block the doors open and received help from the cooks that took locks off the doors so they would not automatically lock them out as they went in and outThey also advised that when requested they moved the truck causing a longer carry at destination and gave up the elevator to residents as needed
I have also consulted with our coordinator assigned to your move as well as Mary your salesperson and both confirmed that they were not made aware of any complaints regarding your second move either until we were in receipt of your recent letter
Dodge Moving and Storage values your business and we want to do everything possible to be fair with our customersIt is our feeling that there was indeed additional time incurred based on the packing problems causing the additional charge of $but also regret that you did not experience our best level of serviceWe are willing to meet you half way and I have enclosed a refund in the amount of $and hope you too feel this is fair settlement
Sincerely,

Ms*** was initially provided with an estimate for $which included the time for her move (total hours) and the use of wardrobe cartons for her clothing which was to be provided to her at no charge. When the time came for her move, she needed assistance with the packing of some of
her things so she was provided with a revised estimate for $which included the same initial services, plus the cost of five (5) cartons ($43.15) and an additional hour of time for the packing of these cartons. We regret that Ms*** does not agree with our final charges, but the work ticket from her move indicates that she signed for our having provided these services. However, we will agree to refund the charge for the mirror carton she indicates was not used ($6.29) plus an additional $as a goodwill gesture. We hope this reflects our desire to bring this matter to an amicable resolution

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:
Our complaint is not about trying to solicit a "good faith gesture." We filed a claim because the movers clearly broke a brand new televisionIf the company would take the time to investigate the claim, they would see the damage had nothing to do with how the box was packedThe walk through of our home with a representative from the company was done about six weeks in advance of the moveIt was made clear that there would be some variations in contentIn fact, quite a few boxes/items were moved elsewhere ahead of time or donatedIt was not communicated that any changes/additions in contents would not be covered. Furthermore, the wild inconsistencies from the company in response to this claim raise serious concerns about either their honesty or the accuracy of their systems for tracking itemsAll we are asking for is what is fairWe look forward to resolving this claim
Sincerely,

My mother has powers of medical attorney and legal power of attorneys but we do not invoke them as at present she is fully competent to sign her own documents
I live in TexasI traveled to St Louis several days before the move which was only a block distance from her home- by the way and my husband, brother in law and I did 95% of the packing and we purchased packing materials and boxes days ahead of the moveThe day before the move some packers came and packed a few bulky items but left after about an hour as we had done everythingWe had asked the company to crate some large artwork and this was never done

It is like dealing with the mob(*** *** who is acting on behalf of the *** House directs what is to be covered under the move credit, according to *** all additional services post and pre move along with storage are not part of the move credit)
OK- I paid itAs I have paid the monthly storage fees(We confirm these have been paid)
I am trying now to arrange to pick up the goods on December I will fly to St Louis , rent a truck and arrive at am at DodgeI asked for a final accounting and paid an additional $and *** paid $towards the tape and boxes as they felt bad about the whole messI was under the impression that this would fully resolve the account and the whole unpleasant experience(Please note *** no longer uses Dodge as a provider of the moving incentive due to persistent problems of this nature.)
After the additional $was paid- I have now gotten additional bills for another $ for more storage fees even though the $was meant to pay everything until December (Dodge will drop this charge, further Dodge will handle the items out to our dock for customer to load at no additional charge)
I need to get this resolved before I close my practice for two days- fly up to St Louis- rent a truck- and I just know that I will show up there and these folks will certainly demand more and more money before they will let me pick up my parents belongingsThey will probably demand cash as well as a check could be stopped and frankly I would be in no position to protest
They have been a nightmareThey clearly take advantage of elderly folks at a stressful time in their lives and they are now holding my parents belongings hostage while they just send bill after bill after bill
I appreciate anything you can do to help

RE: Complaint No*** *** M ***
Dear Mr***:
Below I have copied the original complaint with our responses in redPlease contact me any time
if you have a question regarding this matter
Consumer has indicated that the following statements apply to this complaint:
On September 18th a moving crew from Dodge Mayflower arrived one man short, per quoteI was told a fourth mover would arrive laterMs***'s move was sold for packers to start packing and men to load (for a total of men)At 7:00am, the morning of Ms***'s move, we did not have our entire crew in the office yetWe decided to send out packers to get started (We only charged Ms*** for men, not 3) At 10:after the packers had left, movers arrived to move
Furthermore, they had NO tools and went to my neighbor's and asked to borrow tooIs from himThis is true, and has been addressed with all crew membersWithin an hour at 12:pm I had to call Dodge Mayflower due to main mover/driver bullying meHe would not listen to the agreed upon path to remove items from the condo to the moving truckThe individual Ms*** is referring to is a very good, experienced moverHe is however, a bit excited at times and can come across the wrong wayHe is an extremely genuine, hard-working individual - who can be overwhelming at times with his eagerness to pleaseThis individual felt strongly that the goods should have been removed from the home a different way, which is why he continuedWe did however address this situation immediately once we received Ms***'s phone call and made sure all items were brought through the correct way and the mover removed from the job
Prior to this moving day, I had told Donna/sales if they were not going out my patio door I would need to know, as the management company has to be informedShe said there was no need the back door was the best routeWhen we got the call from the customer advising they had no tools and her concern with the one crew member, we immediately sent our Quality Manager out to the home with tools and to address her concerns with the one crew member
The supervisor arrived and said he knew exactly who was the problem I did not even need to tell himI could not understand why they had sent himThis supervisor agreed the patio door versus going through the building was the best pathSo, the supervisor said he would be removing the man from the job and beware, he will probably become irate and screamI could not believe what was happeningI reported the down time as the other men in the crew said they could not follow the main mover/driver due to him being all over the placeAlso, the main driver was screaming I can't see, I can't see as he was attempting to move my furniture and hit my dining room table into the front doorMy friend was present to observe this portion of the chaosI was crying and so upsetI begged them to be careful with my fathers table as well as Henderdon dressersBased on our phone conversation with Ms***, we could tell that she did not want the the specific mover out anymore, so when our Manager went to her home, he brought a different crew member with him to replace the otherWhen he arrived at the home she pointed out who the man was that she was referring toHe said he knew him and would go speak with himHe could sense that she was not comfortable around him so told her that he would remove him from the home so she no longer would feel uncomfortableHe also made a call to the office and had another replacement come for the member who went to neighbors asking for toolsThis is not allowed at our Company and was addressed by removing him from the job and replacing with a different mover
Next, there were oil wheel marks from the dolly as the movers did not cover the floors, even though later everyone I have spoke to above, agreed that is DODGES policyThey had the carpets cleaned but the cleaning company left the carpet bubbledThis move was completed onFriday 9/18/As soon as we were advised that there was oil marks left by the dolly our claims department immediately contacted a carpet company, who scheduled an appointment for the very next day (Saturday)The cleaning was then completeOn Monday, we then received a call from Ms*** advising of the bubbling we contacted the carpet company back and they did confirm that depending on the quality of carpet, bubbling can absolutely occur after a cleaningWe authorized the carpet cleaners to go back out and stretch the carpet, however Ms*** told them it was not necessary as her walkthrough was complete and she was no longer worried about it
Another driver/main mover was at the new location and said he would make things rightHe also noted the damage thus farAt this time, crew members were whispering around my dresser, and I asked what? They said nothing don't worry - a drawer was not fitting but they would fix it, probable just wrong drawer in wrong slotIT STILL DOES NOT WORK AND ALSO HAS A HUGE PIECE MISSING OFF THE FINISH, as reported to Dodge MayflowerDodge cashed out this item in our claim settlement at the depreciated value, as that is the coverage purchased by Ms***
I began call Dodge at pm on Monday 9/21/to inquire about total bill and hours calculated due to down time and change in crewTuesday the 22nd, I spoke to ***'s Supervisor who wanted to know why I was so upsetWhen I told her it was a total cluster due to the above, she disagreed and said it was not a TOTAL cluster, although she agreed they should have showed with toolsShe disagreed with me regarding the time and number of moversShe said she would get back to meShe credited for down time and for extra time spent until and when he asked neighbor to borrow toolsI had ongoing conversations and emails which occurred during my work hours and became so upsetting, I was crying all the timeMy furniture was damaged and I had been put through an unnecessary stressful situation due to POOR QUALITY CUSTOMER SERVICE and UNPROFESSIONALISMThe day before move, Ms***'s credit card was charged for $1,per her estimateHer actual charges came to $1,On 9/21/our office refunded her card for the difference of $and a goodwill gesture of $for the issues she had experiencedWhen our Supervisor then spoke to Ms***, she agreed to give her another credit of $which was a percentage discount off her moveThis gave Ms*** a goodwill gesture total of $
Unfortunately, I had to spend more time discussing the number of men until I asked for a time card and was able to tell Kabrena and her supervisor exactly who was there and whenOn Sept 25th, I recvd an email stating I was CORRECT and again my charges already charged, would be modifiedTHIS WAS NOT GOODWILL, THIS WAS ERRORS ON DODGE'S PARTThis move was charged for the amount of men that were at her home(ex: If men were at her home, she was only charged for 3, not 4)
On Sept 29th I recvd and email stating thy forwarded all my damages to claims and I should complete a claims form, which I did and had to pay $to get the info as best as I could from a professionalI contacted a Henderdon carrier who referred me to two numbers and the man that called back first, scheduled a quoteI forwarded to Dodge Claims as requested with claim formWe never instruct our customers to obtain estimates; therefore the $Ms*** paid was her choiceAll we ask is for a claim form to be filled out so we could schedule an inspector to access damaged itemsOn 9/24/Ms*** requested our office for a claim form and one was emailed to herWe received a completed claim form on 10/8/and contacted our inspectorOn 10/15, our inspector found out from Ms*** that the goods in question were now located at a completely different address than where we delivered them toThis voids any claimShe hired a different mover to move the items again and never gave us the opportunity to perform an inspection where we delivered the items to
I called and emailed daily to folland rectify the damages ASAPI recvd an email Oct that Goody's Services is AUTHORIZED to do repairs and I began calling Jeff, to schedule this, but when he arrived he said he was not authorized but would send them a quoteI AGAIN HAD TO LEAVE WORK TO MEET HIM TO INSPECTI later was told since I moved my items or someone helped me to another location I was not able to have DODGE'S DAMAGES REPAIRED BY A DODGE APPROVED REPAIRMANEven though this claim should have been voided out because we were never given the opportunity to view the items, we asked out inspector to inspect the items only so we could review and come up with a settlement, if any
When I spoke to *** I stated she knows what damage was done before I moved, it was reported etc however I offered to sign a release and have her contact the PROFESSIONAL COMPANY WHODOCUMENTED ALL PRIOR DAMAGE - MOSTLY FROM DODGEShe said absolutely notI said you cannot damage my stuff and tell me I cannot moveI begged her to do the right thing and fix what DODGE did due to inefficient and ineffective services/staffThe company I used after DODGE was excellent custom services and quality and not someone that helped meThey are recommended by my current residential complexThe only damages reported at the time of Ms***s move was a table and a mattressThe mattress was cashed out at the amount claimedThe reported table damage was from a 6" ring (likely from a cup) that was pre-existing water damage, not move related per the inspection report
Dodge sent a check on Oct 21, for $218.75, nowhere near value or cost of possible repairsIt was not cashed
DODGE has destroyed my father's table, who is deceased and my HENDERDON dressers that were timeless, vintage pieces and cannot be replaced or fixedBooth dressers now have aa drawer that will no closeThe finish is DESTROY ED as it is scratched and a piece of the dresserI am devastated and disgustedThe way I have been treated is UNFORGIVABLEI paid, I did everything askedI endured being bullied, spending hours of time discussing right amount of times, charges and $$for aa quote to fill out the damage claim form properlyI did not receive the services offered//advertised or agreed uponI cry almost daily as I see thee damage they did in one day and one mille travelTHE WORSE PART IS they will NOT CORRECT the MISTAKESI have witnesses, more color pictures, and phone bill documentation of calls too DODGE if needed, PLEASE REQUEST IF SOAs noted above, we have addressed every item Ms*** noted on her claim formWe have sent an additional offer of $to resolve this claim, 1) Henredon Dresser - $which is the difference between what was paid out and the amount to repair on her estimated, 2) Drawer Dresser - $which was the amount to repair on her estimateCurrently Ms*** has declined the additional amountIf accepted, this would make her claim settlement total at $385.000, in addition to the already given goodwill given back on her credit card of $
Dodge Moving & Storage regrets that Ms*** was not completely satisfied with her local move and the resolution of her claimHowever, we do feel that we had made every effort to correct and resolve the problems as they happenedIn addition, even though she had another mover move them items in question, Dodge's settlement offer was correct based upon Ms***'s choice to release her household goods shipment to Dodge pursuant to a Depreciated Value Coverage of $$10,We trust that the explanation above fully responds to all of Ms***'s concerns regarding her move with Dodge Moving & StorageOur last additional offer of $$to resolve this claim is still standing, if Ms*** would like to accept

On 8/7 a goodwill gesture was given of $200.00, leaving a balance of $198.60.
Mr. [redacted], it is our goal to meet all customers expectations related to their move and in your case that did not happen despite our best efforts to do so. We would like to erase the balance due of $198.60, and offer an additional $300.00 of goodwill. This would be a total credit of $698.00.
Dodge Moving & Storage Management Team.

Dodge Moving was sooo good to us. They made the move stress free, and FUN. The guys joked with my kids, and took such careful pride in their work. They worked together well, and the final price was less than the estimate. I don't want to move again, but if I do, I'm calling Dodge. Oh, and I had moved 1 year before this move with another local mover, and Dodge was less expensive and much more helpful!

Please see the attached settlement from our Insurer to the customer, as you can see they were paid over $11,000.00.  This was a very expensive very unfortunate claim.  We provide storage services to over 500 individual customers and this represents the largest "lost items" claim we have...

ever paid.  These items were not stolen, we did a very intense internal investigation, unfortunately they were lost, we have apologized numerous times to the shipper.  We did everything we could to make sure our insurer stood behind the customers claim.  Outside of not loosing the items I am not sure what else Dodge could have done, we feel terrible about this loss but we did stand by our commitment to pay the claim.  I think this complaint should be closed as resolved.

Our office was contacted by the [redacted]'s concerning the need to file a claim.  The process is as follows; a claim form is emailed to the shipper and they have up to 30 days from the date they moved to return that to our office via email, mail or fax.  Once a claim form is...

received, it is reviewed and processed in the order received.  We are unable to give a time frame as to when we will be able to review a claim, but we handle them as quickly as possible.  The claim for [redacted] and [redacted] was received in our office on 12/7/16 and reviewed, processed and mailed on 1/23/17.  It was actually sent earlier but due to an invalid address resulting from a typographical error, it was returned to us.  We sincerely apologize for the delay and normally settle claims much quicker. All parties agree that the T.V. that was damaged, was a new T.V. that was packed in its original box, and was not part of our original estimate of items to be moved, since it was purchased after the survey of the home.We also want to apologize for the miss communication and inaccurate information from our moving crew as to what T.V. was moved.  There was at least 1 T.V. estimated to be pad wrapped and moved, and at least 1 T.V. was moved. The damaged T.V. was not packed into the carton by Dodge's crew, and since it was not packed by us, we cannot be liable for the damage to the T.V. In order to resolve this matter we are offering the following:  The [redacted]'s valuation coverage they purchased for their move would have resulted in a payment to them for this T.V. in the amount of $620.  As a goodwill gesture, Dodge would like to split this amount with them and send a check for $310.  We request the [redacted]'s respond and advise if they are in agreement with our offer.

(In order to clearly respond to the complaint I have copy pasted the complaint here and I will add my response directly...

into the text of the complaint, my responses will be in parentheses) My Mothers name is [redacted] MD.
My mother moved into [redacted] House in July 2014 just a few weeks after my Dad died. As part of the move in "incentive" she was offered a $3000.00 moving credit by [redacted] House. (this credit was not offered by Dodge, this credit was offered by [redacted] an agent for [redacted]) They used Dodge Moving and Storage to provide this service. My mother a retired professor was initially told by both [redacted] and by Dodge Storage that this move in credit would include moving, packing, crating and if there was any funds remaining it could be used for storage fees. This was all part of her larger contract with [redacted] and unfortunately I was never given a copy of this contract . (We know of know contract, Dodge is told to bill moving charges to [redacted] as long as those charges do not exceed $3,000.00 but Dodge is told and we do also communicate this information to the move customer that moving charges do not apply to storage or services requested before or after the move. If a customer requests storage or additional services these charges are to be billed to the customer directly)
[redacted] contracted with Dodge Moving and Storage in Earth City Missouri.
My mother has powers of medical attorney and legal power of attorneys but we do not invoke them as at present she is fully competent to sign her own documents.
I live in Texas. I traveled to St Louis several days before the move which was only a 2 block distance from her home- by the way and my husband, brother in law and I did 95% of the packing and we purchased packing materials and boxes days ahead of the move. I never signed a contract nor did I see one. Once the stuff was moved into storage I was charged for warehouse handling and storage and told that contrary to my mothers understanding that no credit from the original $3000.00 could apply to either warehouse or storage fees. (two points: 1) all the moving charges were paid by [redacted], the only charges billed to the customer we done so under the direction of the customer, as you state above, you directed Dodge to bill the storage to you. Just to confirm the storage billing, we did contact [redacted] and she confirmed that the storage be billed to you as you directed)
I have also received bills for boxes and for tape totaling over 200.00 which I protested as we purchased the supplies ourselves, but the response I get is basically "you cant get your stuff till this is paid" . Why wasn't that covered in the $3000.00 credit??? It is like dealing with the mob. ([redacted] who is acting on behalf of the [redacted] House directs what is to be covered under the move credit, according to [redacted] all additional services post and pre move along with storage are not part of the move credit)
OK- I paid it. As I have paid the monthly storage fees. (We confirm these have been paid)
I am trying now to arrange to pick up the goods on December 3. I will fly to St Louis , rent a truck and arrive at 11 am at Dodge. I asked for a final accounting and paid an additional $389.00 and [redacted] paid $202.00 towards the tape and boxes as they felt bad about the whole mess. I was under the impression that this would fully resolve the account and the whole unpleasant experience. (Please note [redacted] no longer uses Dodge as a provider of the moving incentive due to persistent problems of this nature.)
After the additional $591.00 was paid- I have now gotten additional bills for another $ 210.00 for more storage fees even though the $591.00 was meant to pay everything until December 3. (Dodge will drop this charge, further Dodge will handle the items out to our dock for customer to load at no additional charge)
I need to get this resolved before I close my practice for two days- fly up to St Louis- rent a truck- and I just know that I will show up there and these folks will certainly demand more and more money before they will let me pick up my parents belongings. They will probably demand cash as well as a check could be stopped and frankly I would be in no position to protest.
They have been a nightmare. They clearly take advantage of elderly folks at a stressful time in their lives and they are now holding my parents belongings hostage while they just send bill after bill after bill.
I appreciate anything you can do to help.

BEWARE OF MAYFLOWER MOVING IN EARTH CITY - do not buy their boxes as they are not the cheapest in town. They charge the customer that they are moving for boxes and then keep those boxes when they unload them. Then they try to sell them to you for over 75% of the original cost of the box and they say they will buy them back from you but they do not mention that they only buy them back for 1% of what you paid for them.
