Review: I had previously called to cancel my membership with Dolphin Fitness, I spoke to a young woman at the front desk who informed me her [redacted] was not on duty and someone would call me back the next day. The next day, after not receiving a call back, I called back and was told the [redacted] was only there from 11-6 on weekdays and that I had to come in during those hours to discuss cancellation. I informed the young lady that those hours conflict with my work schedule and would not work for me and asked if there was any other times I could come in. She took my name and number and said her [redacted] would call me if there were any problems with the cancellation. After not hearing back from them, I assumed they had gone ahead with the cancellation. Four-Five months later, I received a call from the [redacted] saying that I was three months late with my account dues. I informed him I no longer had an account with Dolphin Fitness and he told me that since I did not carry out their standard cancellation policy, my contract was never cancelled. I then looked at my bank statement and saw they had still been charging my account after I was put under the impression I had cancelled my membership. In that span of four-five months, my debit card number changed, which is why the funds were never released to them. I explained all of this to the [redacted] on the phone and he said that if I did not come in physically to the branch the next day, they would send my account to collections. A few days later, I received a letter in the mail stating that they had made numerous attempts to contact me via telephone and mail. Meanwhile the first time I had been made aware of any of this was the phone call I had received after the date postmarked on the letter. They have now sent my debt to collections, which will effect my credit score in the future.

I would like to note that this contract was a two year contract I entered into three- four years ago and that I never singed a renewal contract with them.Desired Settlement: Seeing as I never used the services they are charging me for, I would like all debt with them to be cleared and the collection company to be notified. I would also like for my contract with Dolphin Fitness to be cancelled.

No one has contacted me regarding this complaint.

Review: I have been trying for several months to cancel my membership, however the company refuses to cancel the account. Dolphin Fitness requires a form to be picked up at their location between the hours of 12pm - 6pm on Monday - Friday. Those hours I am at work and have explained that to [redacted]. He is refusing to mail me the form and refusing to leave on at the front desk to pick up at my convenience. My two year contract with the company has been honored and completed. Yet they are making it impossible to cancel my account.

Please I could use some assistance.Desired Settlement: I would like my contract terminated and to stop having charges on my account.

Review: I was a member of this health club 5 years ago. I was called for a collection by [redacted] collects for a settlement for terminating my menbership with Dolphin fitness 5 years after I was no longer a member and cleared all owed monies. I made the $59 dollar payment but I fell that this charge is unjust after 5 years, with no record of me being a member in dolphin fitness computers.

Sincerely,

Review: I resigned my membership 2 and 1/2 years ago, by the contract terms I had to send a letter withdrawing my membership by certified mail, which I did. I then had to go in and see the [redacted] to pay my final bill and end my contract. Which I did. 6 months later I received a call from them saying I owed them the final amount of 74.90. I told them I had stopped my membership the way they said I had to they told me that they switched to a new computer system which caused them not to have record of it so they apologized and said it would be taken care of. 6 months later again I got a call this time from a collection agency. Told the story to them and called Dolphin Fitness, spoke to the [redacted] and again was told it would be taken care of. In fact the [redacted] got the collection agency on the phone and told them that they had records of my payment and that it would be taken care of. Again 6 months later called again by a collection agency first, same scenario, ending with [redacted] saying it would be taken care of and apologizing. Happened again this past June same scenario and now today Feb *, 2015. When I again spoke to the [redacted] he said they switched computer systems and it had me down as not paying. sDesired Settlement: I would like this to stop, I have posted this on [redacted] on a page for our town, I have gotten at least 20 people responding who have had the same experience, all sent certified letters, all went in person to pay the final bill, all still getting phone calls months and months later. I just want them to stop,

Review: Good morning,

I cancelled my membership with Dolphin Fitness on December [redacted], 2013. Since then, they have continued to bill me $39.99 every month, including for the month of June. I have called 3 times to tell them to stop billing me and they said that they would and that my contract has been cancelled (the third time I called they said it has been cancelled) but not the first and the second time I called (they said that there was no record of me cancelling). I physically went into the gym on Monday, December [redacted] 2013 and signed a cancellation form. They even billed me $14.99 for the month of May and for what, I have no idea. They are using my Chase credit card that they have on file to bill me. I have been in contact with Chase and they have been refunding me every month. They put a stop on my card for Dolphin to stop billing but somehow, they find a way around it.Desired Settlement: I just want them to stop billing me. I dont need any refund since my credit card provider has been taking care of that.

I want them to NOT have my name and my credit card on file. This is totally unacceptable.

Sincerely,

Review: We attempted to cancel membership when we were moving out of state. We started to cancel membership in May 2014, We had to return to gym 3 times and were assured it would be done. We found had to contact an outside vendor to cancel after 3 visits to the gym, and did so in June,2014 They still took our money out in July so we called again. it is now November, I live in a different state since June [redacted] and they have continued to take our money, and all phone calls result in assurances of correcting issue, with no action. They are basically stealing 40 dollars a month from my family at this point. I finally had to cancel all debit cards associated with my accounts, at an additional cost to me.Desired Settlement: I would like all monies from June of 2014 thru Oct 2014 refunded, also the 30 dollar fee I had to pay for replacement debit cards.

Review: I cancelled my memebership with this gym several times and they refused to stop charging mycredit card. After repeated attempts to cancel I finally changed my credit card number so they could not charge me anymore. I recently received a call from a collection company stating I owed Dolphin Fitness approx. $114, which is completely false.Desired Settlement: Please remove my name from collection agency and stop calling me.

I spoke to them about 3 weeks ago and the [redacted] told me he would call me the following day by 6pm and he never did. I have left a few messages since and have not heard a response.

Sincerely,

Review: I was called by a collection agency in April to say that I had fallen behind in my payments to the club by two months. Not sure how this happened since the credit card used for automatic payment had not been closed or lapsed. However, since I had not been to the club in a year (suffered a broken foot in April 2013), I thought I would use this opportunity to formally close my membership. The collection agency told me I had to visit the club to obtain an approval to stop my membership. I spoke to the club [redacted], [redacted], and he said that he could not issue me a notice to close until I brought my account up-to-date, $59.98 which included a $10 late fee. Since I had not used the club in a year I asked him to waive these charges as a courtesy which was met with a resounding no. When I asked to speak to his [redacted] or [redacted] he would not give me that information. I paid my bill(he did deduct the late charge)and received the notice to close. The process from here becomes comical at best. I called the phone number on the notice and was told that I needed to send the cancellation approval letter by certified mail to the Taft Services in Culpepper, Va. At that point they would send me back a document for me to fill out which I would need to return via certified mail again. At that point I am still not sure I will be officially cancelled. Also not sure at this point whether there will be any added charges on my membership while I wait for the final closure documents.I find it truly unbelievable (but not really since they really do not want to let you or your payments go) that Dolphin cannot handle the memberships at the local facility and truly be a service business. Their billing agency should be able to receive fax or scanned copies of the cancellation letter and not require individuals to incur the cost of certified mail (approx. $8 for two letters mailed)Desired Settlement: Dolphin Fitness should be required to have full disclosure of their practices at the front desk for all members to view. They should also be required to have immediate cancellation of memberships without standing behind this archaic practice to terminate. I would like to be reimbursed for the cost of the certified mailings needed.
