Mr*** indicated to us that he was completely satisified second roof that we installed for him Attached is the inspection report from the City of Billings, stating everything was approved and a copy of his final payment As far as the HVAC pipe, it was rusted through before we installed first roof It needs to be handled by a Licensed Heating & Cooling Contractor

I am surprised to be receiving this complaintI have met with the customer yesterday and again today with the City building inspectorWe have decided on a course of action that meets with the customers approval And satisfies all building codesAll repairs will be performed next weekAnd it is my
people doing the work*** said he will be happy as long as the new work performed passes City Building codes

Revdex.com,
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]The lien is illegal and fradulent.  I note Donahue is now attempting to use it as a bargaining chip.  Sorry, that just won't do.  (Kind of smells a bit like blackmail to me.) The closer to reality $ amount is that Donahue will owe me around $30,000.00 before this is over for various breaches of contract. On top of that they will be exposing themselves to triple damages so it may go bigger.  And they want me to put money in a escrow for them??? Somebody just isn't doing reality. Fox Valley Roofing will be going public. You need to recall, this complaint wasn't filed on behalf of Donahue. I guess Donahue fails to recognize a City Building Dept Correction notice when they don't want to see one. (They call it a "note"!)  I can't help them there. There really is no need for talk. Donahue simply needs to comply with the correction notice and they have not done so, all the while, pretending to comply. A pig in a poke.Strangely enough I was given a 30 year guarantee for these roofs. Orally it was for "everything" including leaks. But when the Donahue handwritten warranty note appeared, it was merely a phony material defects warranty that is already deemed worthless. The material supplier, nor Donahue, have never substantiated the material source with any real evidence and no material warranty even exists.  Another pig in poke. My mother's house - +180 leaks and work is not to Code.  My house doesn't just leak, it flows ... everywhere.   This offer is not really "of this world".  No takers here.

Dear [redacted], I will come over personally today to look at the problem and decide what to do to fix this problem.  I promise you that it will be fixed this week!

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: Yes, the city inspecter told contractor roof needed to be torn down to deck and instaled correctly. Contractor stated he would contact me by July 5th or 6th. No contract has been entered as of yet. Original contract has a start date of June 13th started on that date. Completion date to be three days later on June 25th 2016. It is now July 11th, 2016 job is not completed. No new contract has been entered. No contact has been made by any reprisenitive of the contactor. I feel his contractual obligations have not been met. Our original contract has been broken. I would like to hire new contractor. Get roof done correctley. I have more damage done to furnace vents being disconected by roofing company and venting into attached garage. This is a dangerouse condition risking fire or carbondioxide poisioning. I do not know if this is the case with the other two heat sources. This needed to be repaired by qualified licensed heating contractor.
Sincerely,[redacted]

We had the roof done the only part that wasn't finished was the ridge cap it slightly leaked in that evening, the next day replaced all wet material in the attic, we finished the roof, we then hired a restoration co. to do any and all repairs on the inside, which was minimal, which they also did a...

mold test and found it to be at acceptable  level.
Since the project was finished we have been paid and have not heard anything until now which is 2 years later. the owners  then started complaining about smells in the crawl space which could be anything, we have checked the roof prior and was not leaking to date, this is a very basic roof and easy to install correctly.
We have spoke to our insurance co. which has informed us that we are not liable do to the fact that the roof was installed correctly, If there was a mold problem the restoration co. would have informed us at the time.

Thank You
Mitch

I'm sorry to hear that you feel you cannot trust us to install a skylight. I feel like this is a fair offer and my offer remains the same. If you provide the replacement skylight, we will install it free of charge.  Thank you.

The skylight was in perfect condition when we left the property this is an insurance claim not a warranty claim we installed brand new skylights thank you

Revdex.com,
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I won't get into all the details in this forum but I consider Donahue to be a crooked contractor,. one that cheats to win. I cannot recommend them to anyone. The problem isn't resolved and the breaches in the contract are quite numerous. Donahue ([redacted]) & a supplier, ABC Supply ([redacted]) are complicite in an attempt to conceal the true source, grade, and type of shakes used on our roofing projects. While these 2 persons somewhat pretend to comply, Donahue's attorney is more forthright and says "We don't have to reveal this written data to you or anyone, and we are not going to do so!"  The coverup is on  .... in opposition to City Building Dept. correction notices which demands to know the true & correct data. The hiding of the true & written  data is an apparent attempt to beat & stymie the Building Codes.

Revdex.com,We have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this does not resolve the complaint. Several of these responses don't even make sense - such as the mention of a sale. Our complaint has been supported by numerous independent sources. Regards,[redacted]

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. Sincerely, [redacted]

Revdex.com:
I would like to reject the offer of Arbitration for complaint ID [redacted].
The $3500.00 amount of damages allowed for recovery in arbitration is 50 times less than what are damages actually are.
In the arbitration information, it states electronic devices are not allowed and I would need to bring a computer to the arbitration to state our case.
Please see picture of Roof-Leak 1.
Sincerely,

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:
I have attached the email conversation I had with Kyra at Donahue roofing of May 1, 2015.  As you will see I asked her to send me a final invoice and even double checked with her to make sure this amount was correct.  I have also attached the invoice I received with this email for $4,625.55.  The invoice attached above from Donahue for $5,057.75 was dated April 20, 2015.  Please note my invoice is for May 1, 2016.  Ten days later.

If, in fact I had not paid my bill in full; why did I not receive another invoice from Donahue?  I find it very "convenient" that I am suddenly the bad guy here.  I paid what was requested and never heard another word about it.  If a mistake was made in billing me that was Donahue's responsibility to send me a corrected invoice and explanation.  They did not.

As to the decking that they said they installed.  Just because I have received an invoice from ABC Supply with a handwritten note saying it was for my house doesn't mean the product was installed.  Even if it had been; why is the roof still soft?  Again, their explanation does not make sense.

At this point it seems that they have no intention of trying to work this out with me.  After repeated attempts on my part to talk to them and just get someone to come and look at the roof and come up with a possible solution I am fed up.

I will not use this company again and will definitely not recommend them to anyone I know.
Sincerely,[redacted]

Although we have installed 2 roofs for Mr. [redacted], neither of them are poor. I'm not sure what he is referring to when he says we have been dishonest. We were never terminated otherwise the job would be incomplete.  This winter Mr. [redacted] had us come over and look at the problems. We made a...

punch list at that time and said that we would be back in the spring to make the repairs. In April we were ready to come over and make the agreed upon repairs and that's when he said he did not want us over there to do the repairs in a series of emails to us. The main issue with Mr [redacted]'s roof was some very poor workmanship by our gutter installer. We were going to replace the gutters as part of the repair agreement as well as a few other minor repairs. We have many emails back and forth stating that we are willing to come and do repairs so for Mr [redacted] to say that we are refusing to make corrections is false. We have told Mr. [redacted] that we would love to come there and meet with him and the building inspector that we could know what it is that we need to do. Mr [redacted] refuses to agree to such a meeting.  If I can't meet with someone and I am not allowed to make repairs, how can I resolve this? A lien is my last resort but I felt it necessary in this instance. The grade of shakes has been supplied to Mr [redacted] by ABC supply, a fortune 500 company with a stellar reputation. We are not in cahoots with them or the manufacturer.  No cover up is in place.  We only want to make the necessary repairs and yes, get paid for our work.  We work hard and deserve to get paid for it.My best recommendation is to get a credible third party inspector over there and come up with a repair agreement.  We will then come and do all the necessary repairs. After the repairs are made, we just ask that we get the rest of the money from the original contract.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: I have no way to guarantee that the skylight will actually be installed if I purchase it. After the difficulties I have encountered so far, it is not unreasonable that I do not trust you to install the skylight. Perhaps you can send me the funds for the skylight that I will purchase and then you can install the new skylight.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

Review: Donahue has installed 2 bad shake roofs for me in 2014. The work was so bad, and they have been dishonest as well, to the point where they had to be terminated. Both roofs leak, the work was bad, and the materials used were substandard. I held partial money up on one project and Donahue filed an illegal lien way past the legal deadlines for doing so. The City Building inspector was called in and they wrote Donahue corrections notices that Donahue has simply refused to honor ... running some type of a cover up the their supplier, ABC Supply, refusing to document the type and grade of shakes used. Fundamentally everything was wrong ... and they wish to do some bandaide touchups, grab the money and run. The key is that Donahue refuses to document the type & grade of shakes, and their supplier indicates that no paperwork will be ever delivered that documents the shakes. A cover up is ongoing which stimies the City Building Dept from red tagging the projects with a removal order.

I have found the management to be totally dishonest and fairly histrionic. A totally negative experience. I will be tearing off all of one roof and most of another. As well there are damages done by their crew causing the pre-existing soffit to either be replaced or repaired. My attorney is talking to their attorney but in the end, I am positive that I am dealing with crooks & liars.

Review: We had Donahue Roofing put a new fiberglass patio cover on back in October 2014. The company put clear fiberglass , instead of white. We told them right away that this was not what we ordered. They promised to replace the panels. They came back in May to put the white panels on. This is when we paid them. (This was also a roofing job in Fall) When the first rain came the patio leaked. We called them and told them the job was not done right. They then came out and put another pannel on top of the others. This did not work, it still leaks. We called them agin , quit a few times , to fix problem. They sent someone out to caulk panels. The next time it rained not only was it comming thru the pannels, the rain was aslso comming over my rain gutter. I checked the gutter and found a piece of a shingle and a full tube of caulk in the rain gutter, this was blocking up the rain gutter. ,This shows that the person that came out did not do anything. My wife called four differnt times in July but got no response from company. I called on July 14, then again on July 16. [redacted] an employee answered on this day, and assured that someone would be out in the next three days to fix problem. No one has come out to this day, and no one has called from company.Desired Settlement: To fix pannels so they do not leak.

Review: On June 10, 2015 we signed a contract with Donahue for a new roof, steel rain gutters, skylight and a new roof on our garden shed. We were told that it would take 10 days to get a new skylight. We waited to hear from our salesperson and made numerous calls to him which were unanswered. We even called the owner of the company but he did not return our call. Finally on June 19, nine days after we signed the contract, the salesman brought someone over just to look at the skylight - nothing had even been ordered yet. On July 14, 2015, more than a month after signing the contract, a roofing crew finally arrived. They did a tear off and also took off the rain gutters. It was our agreement that the rain gutters would be taken off intact so we could reuse them on another project. The gutters were damaged beyond use. They shingled the roof, using the old vent jacks when the insurance was paying for new jacks. This was specifically discussed at the signing of the contract. The water heater stack was left crooked. According to the contract, Donahue was supposed to contract with our plumbing company for the vent jack for the water heater but this was not done. The roof on the garden shed has not yet been replaced. On July 15, 2015 we talked to the salesman and e-mailed him a list of all these problems. On July 22, 2015 Donahue sent a contractor over to look at the rain gutters. He said he could not match ours but would let us know who could. He gave us two names and we e-mailed those two names to Donahue. We received an e-mail back saying that the information was forwarded to our salesman. We have not had any further communication from Donahue regarding the rain gutters. We have made numerous calls to both the owner of Donahue and our salesman but have not received a call back. On August 4, 2015 we requested a meeting with the owner and were told we would get a call back the next day. We have still not heard from anyone at Donahue. We hired this company because they run a full-page ad in the local newspaper every week that states they can finish a roof and gutters in 7 days. This is certainly not the case here as it has been over two months since we signed the contract.Desired Settlement: We want the roof, gutters and garden roof completed to our satisfaction immediately. At the very least, we need to hear from these people.

Response:

I have Talked to [redacted] and the problem being is lack of communication with one of our sales people, I have went through the concerns of [redacted] and I myself will oversee the remainder of the project and insured him it will be handled.I informed him he does not have to make any payment until everything is addressed.

Review: Donahue roofing installed a new roof to my residence. The contract included the installation of water/ice shield which is required by building code and roof shingle manufacturer. The work was completed and paid in full by October 2012, totaling over $20,000. By June 2014 water damage to exterior trim was noticed. Donahue came to inspect, did not report a problem. Tried to address the problem by using calking. By December 2014 the water damage to exterior was much more severe. Donahue would not respond to phone calls. I had [redacted] Roofing perform a complete inspection, costing over $600. They determined that ice/water shield was not installed, and causing the damage, and would likely cause more damage if not addressed. The roof will need to be replaced. Numerous calls were made to Donahue roofing, including to [redacted] Donahue's cell phone, and his partner [redacted]'s cell phone. Mr. [redacted] returned one of my calls on 2/14/15 and stated he was going to inspect the roof and damage, which he has not done. My attorney has made several calls, and sent a letter. My home was just painted last summer, and the roof has damaged the entire N. Side of the paint, the NW corner and two other small areas. There has been no response.Desired Settlement: I need my damages remediated. This will involve paying the expense for a new roof and damage to the exterior of my home, including paint , and any damage to siding. Also I had landscaping put it AFTER the roof was installed to avoid damage to landscaping. Any damage to landscaping, sprinklers or underground fence that is caused by installing a new roof will need to be paid for. I had paid for ALL of these repairs after the last roof was put in, not anticipating having to go through this again. (This is a very high roof and requires heavy equipment such as a lift which caused damage to sprinklers, plants, etc). In summary, I need Donahue roofing to pay for all damages.

Business

Response:

After inspecting the roof last summer, we found no fault in the workmanship with exception to misplaced starter shingle in two areas. Although there is no ice dam protection, the pitch of the roof is very steep and the synthetic underlayment came down over the drip edge and covered most of the top of it. Most of the roof pitch is at 12/12 or above. In addition to the steep pitch of the roof, There are also no overhangs. Ice dam protection is made for overhangs because overhangs are cold space. frozen moisture on the roof is melted by the heat of the building and runs down to the overhang where it re-freezes. This causes an ice dam. Since the home has no overhangs, the need for ice dam protection is not there. Upon inspection of the areas in question, there is no evidence of water getting back up under the shingles. There were no water stains on the underlayment or the edge metal. If ice damming were occurring, there would be water stains in between the shingles and the underlayment and edge metal.
