Review: was forced in to signing a year long lease on a apartment , when the DRA knew I could possibly let go from my work meaning I would have to leave Pullman . They forced into signing the lease in April when I didn't have to sign again until may . I was let go from my work May 9 and was out of the dwelling may 15 which is the actual lease ending . Now they are trying to charge me 7000 plus dollars for a place I vacated on time .Desired Settlement: I would like my damage deposit back and my last months rent which is 830 dollars . I don't understand how they think this is the right thing to do to people who are trying to do them right . I'm not a college student , I work for a living . they called me you people , is that good business practices , I think not .

Response:

Our tenants are never forced into signing a lease. All leases are 1 year leases. We do not own the properties and the owners of the properties make the decision on how long leases should run. [redacted] knew at signing that he was signing a lease for a one year period. And after signing decided to move. This was a second lease that he signed and was fully aware of all conditions of the lease. Whether he was a student or working person, the lease terms would not have changed. I do not recall calling him you people, and do not know what that means. We are currently trying to help him sublease the apartment. If the unit subleases we will notify him. Until such time he will be responsible for the monthly rent. Thank you,

They are trying to charge money for repairs that were not my fault like leaks that they knew about also they are saying we got evicted when that never happened and they LOST our rent on multiple occasions

Review: DRA is not repairing their rental houses in sound condition. Normal wear and tear of the pipes, electrical, washers, dryers, flooring, shower faucets, mold in the walls, etc. Students are living in unhealthy housing conditions. When pipes break in the house due to normal wear and tear of a house built in the 1920's that DRA did not maintain.... it should not financially fall on the renters shoulders to bear the cost to repair. DRA should repair the deterioration of the premises that occur during normal conditions. electrical wiring fault - old pipes - mold in the walls -

DRA's threat to evict also is a bully act that needs to stop. Their accounting process is not accurate and their repeated request for proof of check payment is a burden.Desired Settlement: Normal wear and tear of a house built in the 1920's is not the renters fine to pay.

Response:

In response to the above complaint. This is complicated and difficult to respond to. First [redacted] is not a client of our's. her son however is. I have not spoken to her at any time regarding any issues her son may have. However I have been working with the tenants regarding a problem that arose. During winter break the tenants went home and turned the heat off to the unit. The pipes broke due to the fact that there was no heat in the unit not because the pipes were faulty. nor due to normal wear and tear. DRA Real Estate does not own the units but manage them. The owners do as required by law maintain their units. The Tenants were notified when they signed the lease it clearly states that damages caused by failure to leave heat on during the winter months would be their responsibility. I also sent them a letter prior to their break reminding them of this. I have met with the tenants they have taken care of their responsibilities and I believe this is resolved. It is quite unfair in my opinion that this complaint was filed by someone who does and has not resided in our properties. Thank you for your time
