Dune Sport Reviews (36)

I highly recommend this company if you are looking for a wheelchair accessibile toyhauler. Dune Sport worked closely with us to design a toyhauler that would work for my husband. Because of their attention to detail, my family can now enjoy the outdoors in ways we always wanted to. The bathroom is large enough for my husband to turn a complete circle in his chair. I've never seen another camper that he could do that in. This toyhauler fits our needs perfectly. As long as you don't expect to get a $60,000 camper for $30,000 then you should be more than satisfied with their product. We had a few minor hiccups during our order process but the amazing gentlemen at Dune Sport went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied.

The Team at Dune Sport: produces a very high end product. I ordered a totally custom FW-28 toy hauler. From the beginning of my custom build these guys go above and beyond to achieve a satisfied customer. There outlook is customer satisfaction. they always returned my phone calls when I had questions from the beginning stages of my build. My hopes for this company is to see them continue to Grow.

Im disabled and required a specific layout for the bathroom, the sales associate told me they could accomodate my request. After the money transferred I get a call from the salesmen saying they cant accomodate my needs for the bathroom, for me it was a huge issue because I could of purchased just any trailer if I wasn't going to be able to use the bathroom. The trailer came with a blown out tire, a AC unit that didn't work cheap stripping, rusty bolts and lighting fixtures that are cheap and flimsy. Their post money transfer customer service is below substandard, when we were discussing the restroom with the owner he raised his voice at my wife! The sales associate told me he was giving me a discount but afterwards I noticed he cut corners on my quote i.e. I wanted a 15k AC unit I got a 13.5...definitely would not recommend to anyone I care about, horrible rude disrespectful service... This company should just fold.

Review: Actually they defrauded us out of more money and won't return it.

Their advertising on the website " what you see is not what you get".

Back in October of 2013 my husband and I decided to look into having a ToyHauler built to our specs because we came across a website advertising such. We put together several packages to see the costs, decided on one a representative called us immediately and we were emailed the invoice and made out our deposit of $3400.00 by phone check.

Upon time for arrival... Feb. 2014, we get a call from them that it's time for the final payment for delivery.

Then they tell us there was an error on our first invoice... They put in our $3400.00 twice, so it needed to be fixed. So instead of a balance of $28,000 it was $31,000 then they told us that we had to come up with another $3798.00 or they wouldn't ship it. We had already gotten the loan.... I told them forget it, give me my first deposit back... They said it was in the paperwork we signed that it was non- refundable. Then we paid the sum of $27,520.00 in the loan check.... We didn't know we were bamboozled till after delivery ( which was a month late). I wrote them and said

We paid you $3400.00, then $3798.00 then $27,520.00 = $34,718.00 the agreed amt with the last invoice was

$31,453.00 ( $3,265.00 overpayment) they never replied or show any concern.

Also, we ordered chrome diamond plating around the bottom edges of the toy hauler... It came with black cheap plastic diamond plate molding. Also, the pictures show the cupboard under sink nice and clean plumbing showing plenty of storage.... Is so packed with wiring and half xxx plumbing you can't use it. They claim that's NORMAL and if I wanted it for storage I should have specifically asked for it that way... And you don't buy by looking at pictures... Their small print says that. It also came without drawers for silver wear. I purchased a small cupboard from Fingerhut to accommodate this problem for $249.00 and I will have to take it to a RV repair place to reroute the plumbing and wiring under the sink, so the space is useable. They claim the diamond plating is aluminum with black powder coating... I will love to get it inspected. I have pictures of everything... For proof... Please help!Desired Settlement: $3,265.00 overpayment

$249.00 cupboard

$500.00 for replumbing and building drawers

$ 195.00 for diamond plating I paid for

__________

$4,209.00

Response:

To whom it may concern,

I will address this customers complaint line item by line item

1) We in no way defrauded this customer of any money and upon further correspondence with them they have admitted to that not being valid and that they paid what they were supposed to pay. Its very clear if you add up all the options and trailer they choose the dollar amounts reflect what they actually owed. Anything to do with overpayment was taken care of months ago when Mrs [redacted] contacted me about it. This complaint just got to me today but this was handled months ago and customer agreed we have no issue with overpayment

2) They did not order chrome diamond plating. They ordered diamond plating and its up the discretion of the manufacturer as stated clearly on our website what kind they get and that if they see something specific they like they need to speak with their representative. You can see the disclaimer at the bottom of every photo page to ensure we don't have these kinds of issues. [redacted] If you copy and paste that link you will see how the bottom of every photo page looks. We build custom toy haulers so its very important that if a customer sees something specific they like that they let us know. They make an incorrect statement saying it is "black cheap plastic diamond plate molding" It is not. It is the same thickness of aluminum as the chrome its just in a black finish. With regards to under their cabinets, again this is something that is not standard but yet an option for the customer to put shelves in. We have 1000's of photos to show customers different options and its up to them to bring up things they like. We are not designed their toy hauler, they are and therefore need to let us know the things they want/like don't want/don't like.

3) We have yet to hear back from the [redacted]' and would guess they have no warranty related items with their hauler. If they do its the same simple process for getting actual workmanship warranty related items fixed by the manufacturer.

This complaint has no validity but is rather a rant of someone unhappy with the way they choose to design their toy hauler and is looking to place blame on the order taker and not take responsibility for not speaking up about what they wanted or didn't want. We place the following disclaimer at the bottom of every photo page so customers are very clear.

"Pictures shown are of similar units and may not be the actual parts included in your new toy hauler. Due to variations in trailer lengths and floorplans, some substitutions may occur.

Trailers are individually custom built. Cabinets, wall colors, flooring, fabrics, shelving, accessories, and other items shown are at the discretion of the manufacturer. If you see something you like, be sure to speak with your representative for any questions you may have."

I would hope that this is enough information to remove this complaint. If you need anything more please let me know

Thanks

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait until for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

Regards,

In early March 2015 we placed our order for a 14' Dune Sport Toy hauler. The salesman [redacted] said it should be ready maybe late April or early May. We closed on the deal April 8th 2015 and brought home our PERFECT Toy Hauler Trailer. Dune did everything as ordered and went on to do several little things we did not expect. Two more tie downs for the UTV, an extra cabinet over the fridge, moved out front wall to gain 6 more inches of counter space etc. etc.... The Dune guys know their business and make COMMON SENSE modifications as needed. This is our 4th camper, and by far the easiest to use, live in and have fun and enjoy. We had some minor glitches and their response was beyond satisfactory. Both Tom and Brad went out of their way to be certain we were satisfied. We can't say enough good about these folks. AND their pricing beat out all the competition. We also were pleasantly surprised to see a majority of the parts and structure said "Made in USA" This is a high quality, fairly priced unit. You will be happy with the quality and the customer service before and especially after the sale.

Review: I purchased a use Monaco Dynasty Motorhome from Dune Sport in August 2014. There were several issues with the Motorhome which were misrepresented on the "Certified Mechanic's" PDI Report (Pre Delivery Inspection) as well as the walk through Mr. [redacted] set up with the Certified Mechanic, Chris Walker and myself. During the walk through, Mr. Walker indicated everything was in good condition and was working properly pursuant to his inspection and as represented by Dune Sport . After several days in Mesa, AZ waiting for the walk through inspection with the Certified Mechanic, the detailing of the Coach and completion of the paperwork I headed back to Idaho. On the return trip I noticed a lot of wind noise and assumed it was just something I was not familiar with. At one point during my trip, it was raining and it became apparent there was a problem with the front windshield as it was leaking in both corners Upon close inspection the windshield appeared to have been worked on several times and even had been patched with some sort of silicone in the corners. It was at some point installed improperly with a silicone adhesive between the rubber gasket and the body window frame thus, the window rolled in the loose rubber gasket and out. In both right and left lower corners there is a 2” to 3” separation of approximately ¼ inch where water, wind and daylight come through. The drivers side window appeared to have soap sm from what was thought to be from the detailing of the coach but upon attempting to wipe it clean it was found to actually be delaminated. It is a obvious safety hazard impairing visibility of the driver. These issues were not noted in the inspection report nor brought to my attention. I was told by [redacted] who handled the sale, upon my inquiry that the tires on the Coach were four (4) years old. I later had the tires inspected for my own peace of mind and was surprised that per the date codes on the tires they are seven (7) years old not four (4). Since this was my first experience with owning a motorhome, I asked Mr. [redacted] numerous times about the condition of the Coach specifically asking, are there any issues on the MH that would cause concern”. He stated a few scratches on the bottom of the MH and the torn driver/and passenger seats were the only issues. I have brought these issues to the attention of Dune Sport who has basically ignored the issues other than the tires, indicating that a bumpy road may have dislodged the windshield. It is obvious that this is not the case. They did admit that they misrepresented the age of the tires.

There more issues that have been discovered which do not work properly, all which were represented to work per the inspection report, such as the icemaker and washing machine.

Dune Sport indicated they would stand behind the tire issue because of their misrepresentation however, I have placed several calls no avail.Desired Settlement: It has been requested that the front windshield be replaced or properly re-installed. The driver's window replaced. Reimbursement of the cost of the represented age of the six (6) four (4) year old tires as opposed to them being seven (7) years old. Obviously this would be pro-rated. They have been provided with an estimate for the proper re-installation of the windshield and a pro-rated cost of the tires.

Response:

Our transaction with Mr [redacted] are unfortunately not entirely the way he chooses to describe them. Let me address each point on this list and add a few additional things Mr [redacted] has decided to leave out.1) Mr [redacted] hasn't reached out or tried to contact us since 9/22/14 to our knowledge and hasn't left any messages nor has he reached out via email. The last conversation I had with Mr [redacted] ended with us coming to a conclusion that several things2) Mr [redacted] brought down a 1934 Oldsmobile as a trade for the motor home being discussed. Mr [redacted] told us that it was an original paint job among many other things. Here are a couple of lines he wrote to us "The new owner must realize that the Olds is not restored and is an original unrestored museum survivor which makes it even more valuable than a restored car" "The only other thing that doesn't work in the Olds is the 1 windshield wiper which I'm pretty sure the new owner will never drive it in the rain anyway" These are inaccurate statements. The front end isn't original as he indicated, the paint isn't original as indicated, some of the gauges on the dash don't work. The last time we spoke Mr [redacted] informed me that he had a few guys interested in the car at $25000. I told him that if he helped us sell the car for $25000 that would be great and that I would be more than happy to help him out with the items as a thanks for selling the car because the best offer we have received thus far is $17000. We still have the car in fact and haven't been able to sell it. He was to have some folks call me who were interested at $25000. That hasn't happened. Keep in mind we paid Mr [redacted] $27995 in trade for the car. Needless to say the last time him and I spoke was regarding selling the car and once it sold that I would work with him on a few of the items.3) Customer did in fact purchase the used 1998 Monaco Dynasty from Dune Sport. We have independent inspections done on all of our used RV's to ensure our customers get a fair and accurate assessment of the RV they are buying. We do not employ the technician. In fact the technician is an RVIA certified master technician and does work for various RV dealers and is well respected within the RV industry in our market. Mr [redacted] received a copy of the report and that report would indicate to the technicians knowledge and through the inspection the items that were discovered were addressed and if items were marked in the "working" or "satisfactory" category then surely we wouldn't repair items without issues. 4) Dune Sport has/had no previous knowledge of work done to or performed on windshield. Dune Sport never worked on windshield and customer was at our facility for a week prior to leaving with Motor Home and one would think if the windshield was in that bad of shape or had light coming through that he would have easily been able to see it. The fact that the technician, myself, the sales person nor the customer saw it during any of the many inspections and the fact that it was discovered hundreds of miles down the road makes it difficult for us to take responsibility.5) Mr [redacted] informed us the tires were older than what we were told they were and therefore I did tell him that I would give him the prorated adjustment for those and we would discuss that further once we had the buyer situation squared away. He hasn't contacted us in several months and therefore I thought that in lieu of him not being forthcoming with some of the things he said about the representation of the car he had foregone anything regarding the tires simply because I haven't heard from him. We are still willing to work with Mr [redacted] on the tires but we were under the impression he was lining up a buyer and therefore dealing with these items once that happened. In closing, I am pretty shocked to see correspondence through the Revdex.com due to the fact that our last conversation was amicable and he said he was going to work on a buyer for the car. I find this complain unjust as we've done nothing but work with this customer from day 1 and have been waiting to hear from him on a buyer for the car. He is more than welcome to call or email anytime and will get the same level of service as our other customers.Let me know if you need anything else[redacted]

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.First, my complaint was to the safety issues on the coach and the misrepresented age of the six (6) tires. Now, in their one sided defense, Dune Sport has come up with several issues on the 1934 Oldsmobile which have never been communicated to me at any time. At the time of the discussions of our agreement, it was contingent on the acceptance of the Oldsmobile by Dune Sport which took place at their facility. When the Oldsmobile was delivered from Idaho to Mesa, Az., [redacted] personally drove the vehicle, had the vehicle inspected/appraised and the vehicle was accepted. I was told by [redacted] the vehicle was appraised at $27,000.00 although I never saw anything in writing. In as much as my issues are with the Coach, I will address some of his concerns: The 1934 Oldsmobile is a old classic car. Nothing to hide here. The paint is original; I had a number of people in the auto paint business look at the vehicle's paint and no one felt the paint was not, in fact, original. The front end is not original; Mr. [redacted] is aware that I had the front shocks repaired. Delivery of the Oldsmobile was delayed as the shocks had to be shipped to [redacted], Santa Ana, California for repair and then returned to Idaho to be reinstalled. I could not in good conscience deliver a vehicle with safety issues. As to the gauges, [redacted] was told that the gauges were not accurate as a result of the upgraded 12 volt electrical system. Mr. [redacted]'s idea that I was lining up a buyer or buyers for the Oldsmoble is absurd. If that was so, I certainly would have sold it to them and then made an offer on the Motor Home which would have been some what less than his asking price judging from the condition of the Motor Home. There were no terms of the agreement with Dune Sport which required me to sell or find a buyer for him. In fact, while I was at Dune Sport Mr. [redacted] indicated to me he was undecided on whether or not he was going to keep or sell the Oldsmobile. In my conversations with [redacted], the salesman on the Motor Home deal, I did indicate to him that there were people interested in buying the Oldsmobile. As a courtesy I did contact the interested parties at one point, when I got home, to inform them where the vehicle was located if they were still interested, they were not. Whether or not Dune Sport is able to sell the vehicle is none of my concern and has no bearing on the issues contained in my complaint. This complaint is solely concerning one, the safety issues with the windshield and drivers window, and two, the misrepresentation of the age of the six (6) tires. Mr. [redacted]'s idea that no one noticed the windshield issue until a 100 miles or so down the road may be true. It was only noticed when I hit rain and water was coming through on to the dash. The separation was obvious when inspected closely and should have been pointed out during the inspection by the "Certified Technician" if he had thoroughly inspected the vehicle. The "Certified Technician's" report indicates it was inspected and the box is checked as "working or satisfactory". Upon my return and prior to contacting Dune Sport, I had the windshield inspected by [redacted] (a well respected auto glass installer) in Hayden, Idaho. I was told the separation of the windshield did not occur from recent use and certainly not on the trip from Meza, Arizona to Idaho. The windshield, in fact, was in that condition for some time. This can be verified by an affidavit or testimony. Finally, I will address his claim of being readily available to the customer. Several calls made to Dune Sport were cut short by, "I'm with a customer, I'll' call you back," or, "the boss, (Mr. [redacted]) is out of town and he will call you back." I received one call from Mr. [redacted] who stated he would not honor the windshield but would think about the tires. He did indicate that my quotes I sent him were too high and he could get them cheaper. I provided him quotes from well known tire stores in the area and am asking for them to be prorated not to be replaced unless he feels he should replace them. The issues complained herein to the Revdex.com are in my initial letter. I have communicated to Dune Sport the issues in writing and have provided him with photographs, quotes on the repair of the windshield, replacement of the window (drivers side) and the proration of the six (6) tires. The complaint has not changed. Regards,[redacted]

Response:

[redacted] and I have had several conversation about resolving his issues. He and I agreed to a $1200 reimbursement to satisfy his issues and he said that satisfactory. I then called him yesterday and he said he changed his mind and that $1700 was the least he would take. We bought a 1934 Oldsmobile for 27,995.00 from him and sold it for $21000. We lost $7000 on this trade due to several things not being what [redacted] said they were. We didn't go back to [redacted] and demand reimbursement etc. We recognized that we all make mistakes and that we all are trusting the information we are given to make decisions. Having said that if we were able to sell the car for more we would have been willing to offer [redacted] more for the issues he believes to be our fault. Again, we could easily have said we demand reimbursement for this or that but we again realize that the information he was given about the car is information he has no control over and we are in the same position. We were given information regarding the RV and clearly some of it wasn't 100% accurate. In this situation we believe $1200 to be more then reasonable for the issues at hand. Please let me know what more we can provide to get this complaint resolved.

I have never received such Stellar customer service before. The staff at Dune Sport is top notch, honest, problem solvers and truly care about each customer. I would highly recommend purchasing your next toy hauler from Dune Sport.

We are so greatful to [redacted] for a positive experience at Dune Sports. He went out and beyond to help us make a good choice with our toyhauler. Everything was done in a timely manner. Very professional. He kept in touch at all times. Very friendly person. We would reccomend them to anyone.

I would like to take this moment to retract my positive review left last year of DuneSport. I left the review after DuneSport contacted me and asked me to help them out by writing a positive review to offset the negative reviews they had received on Revdex.com. Now, less than one year later (and less than two years after receiving our custom toyhauler) we are sitting here with NO CAMPER due to the shoddy workmanship on the camper. The build was so horrible that our toyhauler literally disintegrated and rotted down to nothing. The RV repair shop we took the camper to was appalled at the horrible build. The cost to replace the completely rotted roof, walls and floor was going to be FAR greater than the cost to replace the toyhauler. How can a company be proud of it's product when the product does not last more than a few years when it should be lasting at least ten years or more? If you recently received your DuneSport camper and were highly satisfied, please come back in a year or so and let us know what kind of shape your camper is in. If you are waiting for your camper to be completed your best bet is to forgo your deposit and back out of the deal and go somewhere else. With DuneSport, the old saying is definitely true...You get what you pay for. Do not waste your money on this company...you will regret it in a few years!

I recently purchased a custom 14' CB floor plan "Man Cave" RV from Dune Sport. Having never seen their products or met the people involved, I had the same concerns anyone would have. My plan was to take delivery in Palm Springs, where there would be really no opportunity for corrections.

I am very happy to report that the entire process was a success.

I am a very detailed consumer, and I know exactly what I want...down to every detail. I am also an owner of many special vehicles and trailers, all of them modified and in very good condition. I am not an easy person to please, or deal with.

[redacted] and [redacted] at Dune Sport were great the entire time. It was a 3-month long communication session, with many days having multiple phone calls and/or emails. I was able to customize everything I wanted, and they offered many suggestions to enhance what I was requesting. I used their Facebook albums, which features thousands of photos of previous builds, as my inspiration for how I wanted mine to turn out.

Along the way, [redacted] reinforced Dune Sport's desire to "exceed my expectations". They did exactly that!

Every detail that I asked for was completed, and there were many positive aspects that I did not expect. The quality of the build is excellent. I have reviewed every square inch of the trailer - top, sides, inside, and underneath - and there was barley a scratch to be found. They really did a nice job on my rig and I am VERY HAPPY that I chose to customize with Dune Sport.

On my trip home from taking delivery, we stopped at a truck stop to weigh the trailer and truckers came over and admired it. On my first trip to the coast of Central California, I had numerous people ask me about the trailer. They were all impressed with the number of features packed into such a small trailer.

Throughout the entire planning and build time, [redacted] was extremely professional and responsive. He returned every single phone message and every single email I sent to him, usually within hours. [redacted] is a quality guy who I now call a friend.

I highly recommend this business and its employees.

I had my reservations purchasing a toy hauler via the internet initially. I have owned toy haulers in the past, and one them was from what was considered a luxury toy hauler manufacturer.

Ordering from Dunesport was easy and the people there made picking the items you wanted for your toy hauler easy. The toy hauler was completed in a timely fashion and upon picking up the toy hauler, it looked even better than it did in the pictures. From what I can see so far, the quality of the items used during the build of this trailer appear to be on par with some of the top manufacturers on my toy hauler. While anyone who has purchased any kind of RV knows there are always little things, I have to say that I have had less "little things" go wrong with this toy hauler than my previous toy haulers. Dunesport was responsive to those little issues and so far, I could not be happier with my purchase.

Review: I purchased a trailer from DuneSports in August 2013.

Unfortunately in September, The water tank attachment broke down on the highway and the tank got dropped on the road and cracked.

I contacted DuneSports about repairs in November and asked to accomodate repairs. As I'm not physically located in AZ I communicated with them over email and we agreed on

shipping new tank to me and compensating the portion of repairs. I was quite satisfied with results, however I never received a tank and my attempts to contact DuneSports are not successful since mid February.Desired Settlement: All I'm asking for is to stand to original agreement. Which is: shipping me a replacement tank and covering $200 for repairs work.

Response:

To whom it may concern,The customer has stated mostly factual information in his complaint, however, he does state some incorrect information as well. Let me address that please1) Customer has spoke with us about water tank issue and we did inform the customer that we would get with the manufacturer of the RV and the manufacturer would then contact the tank manufacturer and have one shipped. The manufacturer ordered a new tank from the tank manufacturer on March 3rd 2014 directly after our last correspondence with the customer. We have never heard back from either the manufacturer or the customer since then so we assumed this was taken care of2) The customer has not tried to contact us in any aspect that we are aware of. Our phone number nor has my email changed and he has left no messages via voice-mail nor has he called our office. Further he has not emailed me following up on any of this.We were and are more than happy to help this customer get his tank however this complaint is not valid for 2 reasons. 1) We are not the manufacturer and do not warranty any product of any kind and 2) We thought this situation was handled due to the customer not asking for an update or following up since Mar. Its been 3 months, you would think that if the customer did not receive the tank as indicated in our emails within a week like I instructed that he would have followed back up with us. He did not, so again we assumed this was handled.I hope this complaint gets removed from our record with the information given. Thanks[redacted]

Review: Found Dune Sport online and was excited about their cus[redacted] built toy hauler trailers. I went back and forth with them discussing a few options and different types of floor plans. During this process they told me they were going to give me (without charging) an upgrade in fabric choices, a free screen wall, and discounted a few other items for me on the invoice. We ended up making a couple small changes to my order and once we finalized the purchase they sent over the new invoice. The new invoice showed no discount for the items they had originally told me they would not charge for. When I mentioned this to them, they stated they needed 10% down payment first, then they would adjust the invoice accordingly. I was purchasing a trailer from them for over $27,000 and they adjusted the invoice a few hundred dollars hoping that I wouldn't notice. That was an extremely unethical move on their part. After explaining my frustration with them over this, they did finally give me the discount they had originally told me they would. At this point the invoice price was the only issue I had with them, so I then wired them 10% down payment.

After a couple months went by with no contact, I was unfortunately laid off from my place of employment. I notified [redacted] at Dune Sport about what had happened. [redacted] seemed fairly sympathetic to my situation and told me he would have to talk to the owner, [redacted], but they could work something out with me. [redacted] told me they had not started building the trailer yet so he didn't feel there would be an issue with refunding my down payment and that he was going to put the trailer build "on hold". After several days went by and I made several attempts to get into contact with [redacted], he finally contacted me. [redacted] instantly stated they do not offer any refunds. He claimed he was out $12,000 for the order of the parts for the trailer because I decided I no longer wanted a toy hauler. I attempted to make it clear to him that there was no issue with not wanting him to build the toy hauler, but that I lost my job and would like a refund for my down payment. He did not care about anything I had to say and claimed he was going to receive order cancellation charges. I stated I would be willing to cover those expenses, if we could work something out to where I could at least get a portion of my down payment back. [redacted] refused to offer any refund. I made it very clear to him that $2,700 would really help me and my family out during the time I will be out of work. He stated that he is not responsible for my family. That he is only responsible for his 30- some employees and all of their families. That he is a business owner and he just cannot offer refunds. What kind of business owner promotes customer service like this? Again, they never started construction on this trailer. Nor was it ever mentioned to me, in this entire process, that the down payment was non- refundable.

Beware of this company and their unethical business practices. Had [redacted] been willing to offer a refund, once on my feet again, I would have loved to have them to build me that cus[redacted] toy hauler I wanted. Dune Sport has lost a customer for life, because of the unethical business practices that the owner, [redacted] has adopted. If I can convince one potential customer to decide to not buy from Dune Sport or Dynamite Toy Haulers, then [redacted] has lost a whole lot more than $2,700.Desired Settlement: $2700

Response:

To whom it may concern,I will address the customers comments one by one1) I have no knowledge of adjustments made or not made on this customers file. If Chris was due discounts for various items I can guarantee he would have received those discounts2) [redacted] has worked for me for 9 years and would never make the statement this customer stated he made which was "[redacted] told me they had not started building the trailer yet so he didn't feel there would be an issue with refunding my down payment and that he was going to put the trailer build "on hold"." [redacted] has informed me that he would never and has never said this to any customer as its not his position to have that kind of conversation3) I did not state I was out $12,000 for parts. I stated that we do not offer refunds of down payments and stated on his signed invoice which I have attached. I also explained to the customer that once a customer places a down payment with us we then place his order with our manufacturer to secure his spot in line and that we had already paid the money to the manufacturer to have his trailer built and that they do not offer refunds either due to production schedules etc. We do not offer refunds on down payments as a way to protect us from a customer ordering a trailer and then us placing the trailer with a manufacturer to then only have the customer cancel for one of many reasons thus leaving us in a situation where we have to eat the trailer. All of our trailers are custom build to order trailers.4) I told the customer I felt bad about his situation and that I would do him a courtesy and hold his down payment on file and at point in the future once he got back on his feet I would allow him to apply his original down payment to any new order he would place. This isn't something I am obligated to do, however I do it as a courtesy when customer fall on hard times. We have had several customers over the years take advantage of this courtesy. 5) I did not make the statement that I am not responsible for his family. Once again words are being put in my mouth. What I said was that he is responsible for the members of his family whether it be 2 or 3 and that I have to make decisions based on 20 or so people who work for me and their entire families. 6) The customer signed an invoice that clearly states that there are no refunds of deposits. I'm not sure how much more clear it could be. I'm not sure how this is unethical. If you place an earnest money on a house and then back out you don't get it back. He simply placed a down payment on a toy hauler that he ordered and simply could not fulfill his end of the contract and therefore I don't see how this complaint could be valid. While I feel bad about his situation and wish he could fulfil his end of the contract and wish him luck in getting back on his feet, I also have a business to run and I would hope that the [redacted] can appreciate that. Please let me know if you need anything moreThanks[redacted]

I purchased a 14ft. Toyhauler from Dune Sport back in January of 2014. I took delivery of the unit around Mid May time frame. On a friday and left fore a two month trip to the east coast that Sunday. We only had time to load our gear in and leave for the trip since we had reservations at several RV camps along the way. The unit performed 100 percent. Not one Issue. I was a RV Technican for several years and had this unit built to haul behind my Toyota FJ, which has a 5,000 pound towing restriction.
I understand that Dunesport is a young company and is having growing paines. This is not uncomon for a new company to have some issues with production times and quality control. I just understand this and am willing to work with them to resolve any problems.

We purchased an 18' Firestorm Toyhauler at the end of February 2015 from [redacted]. Since then we have camped over 10 weeks and have really enjoyed it. From our first meeting with [redacted] to delivery, everything that was promised was met or exceeded. The quality and fit and finish is first class. The warranty work was done on time and to our satisfaction. We pull the Toyhauler with a Ford F150 with a 5.0 V8 without a problem.

I purchased an 18 foot trailer from Dune Sport a year ago and my wife and I are very happy with it. The people at Dune Sport have treated us very well, they are friendly and very customer oriented. Thanks Dune Sport
