In connection with Complaint ID # [redacted] , 42nd Street Photo has prepared the following response in rejecting the customer’s request for a refund The customer purchased a Sony Camcorder from 42nd Street Photo in July and received the item several days after placing the order One month after receipt of the item, the customer sent back the item to 42nd Street Photo without prior notification or explanation and without a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) The 42nd Street Photo Return Policy clearly states, "If you are not satisfied with your purchase, you may return it for exchange or refund within days of receiving it and after receiving a return merchandise authorization number from 42nd Street Photo” Although the return was outside the 10-day permitted window and the RMA requirement was not followed, 42nd Street Photo contacted the customer to determine the cause of the return and attempt to resolve any issue for the benefit of the customer The customer claimed the item was not working properly In actuality, the customer had the camcorder operating on an incorrect setting Once this was explained in detail, 42nd Street Photo tested the item fully to ensure the item is in proper working condition and resent the item to the customer at the Company’s expense The customer rejected the delivery and in subsequent conversations to resolve the issue, alternatively claimed the microphone setting was not working, the cause of which was subsequently determined to be the customer’s failure to install a battery (as detailed in the User Manual) and then falsely claimed that they never ordered the item in the first place and that their credit card had been stolen Clearly, this was a blatant attempt to avoid responsibility for their purchase and the credit card company properly rejected their chargeback attempt42nd Street Photo currently has the item in its New York City warehouse location and has requested on multiple occasions for the customer to send a shipping label so the Company can resend the item 42nd Street Photo has not heard from the customer and has not received a shipping label with which to process the returnTodd W [redacted] Reputation Rhino *** *** [redacted] [redacted]
