Scam company
I AM SO GLAD I DIDNT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM BUT MY CONCERN IS THAT I GAVE THEM MY SOCIAL, I TRY TO CALL THEM ANS NEVER ANSWER OR RETURN MY CALLS,
BE CAREFUL WITH THIS COMPANY...I WOULD GIVE THEM 0 STARS

The WORST customer service.
Since late 2022, I have been contacted daily by email from EcoHome re: the end of Open Billing with Enbridge. I assume they have also been calling my work phone 2-3 times daily from different numbers around Ontario. The callers go to voice mail and leave dead air - in other words, I have no way of calling back. This means my work phone voice mail box is full every 3-4 days, necessitating a number change to prevent this harassment, and they're not getting a response from me, because I have no way to respond.

They do not provide any non-voice (i.e. chat, email) options to ask additional questions, which is discriminatory against the deaf community and against those with auditory processing issues. Customers cannot reply directly to the email, nor email the address that is on their website. Emails bounce back from the postmaster.

According to their daily email, "...If you have any questions, give us a call at XXX". Calling this number is a fast track to futility. The rep cut me off at every moment, whether I was asking a question or responding to hers. I managed to say "188 - " as the part of my address, at which point she interrupted me and said, "Can you spell that?" She then proceeded to give me an entirely different number to call, which does not appear in the email.

Their email link sends you directly to a page requesting banking information for PAP. There is no option for you to establish an account and review your billing, which means there is no way to know if you're giving away your banking information to a spoof or scam site.

How do I know they won't view clicking "I accept" as a net new contract, with new terms and higher interest rates? If I can't trust EcoHome Financial's contact information or its reps, why on earth would I trust them with my banking information?

I just want to know what is the current outstanding balance and how to pay it off, because I never want to deal with these people again.

Loan Shark
I purchased a water filter system from Rain soft and unfortunately I opted to finance it. Our contract started in August of 2017 with a balance of $9000 and agreed to pay $89 monthly

we learned this week our remaining balance is $6900; in 5 years we have only paid $2100 towards principal leaving me wondering how?

We have made $5340 in total payments in the past 5 years; $3240 have been interest. How is this acceptable, you need to give me a detail break down and interest rate being charge

If I learn you are illegally over charging in interest rates I will be filling a consumer complaint. You need to be audited

Biggest Scammers - EcoHome Financial / Reliance Home Comfort
I would give zero stars if it was possible. A door to door salesman (scammer) sold my retired parents on HEPA air filter in 2016. They did not review the contract terms but instead mis-represented the agreement as a short term rental for $53 a month and had my dad sign the 1 page agreement. This is a crappy $600 device. My parents have paid over $4,000 to date. Eco Home put a security lien with a balance in 2022 for $3,600, which doesnt allow them to refinance their mortgage. This scam of a company has them on a 10 year agreememt meaning if they continue payments until 2016, this crappy $600 device will end up costing them over $7,000. We found out that in 2021, Reliance Home Comfort bought over these contracts, the lien is still under EcoHome Financial. Reliance is honoring the contract terms even though they know its a huge scam. I've had no luck sorting this out with Reliance or EcoHome. I've asked for the original contract from Reliance and no luck. EcoHome has no record of us because its with Reliance Home Comfort. I've reached out to the CEO of Reliance and others with no luck. I've seen that before the law changed for door to door salesman in 2016, many were scammed in a similar fashion and the hundreds of complaints against EcoHome is proof. These companies scam old people relentlessly. How can any finance company approve of these actions? Imagine paying $50 a month for a $600 air filter system that doesnt even work for 10 years? Its insanity. I will continue to make sure people know of the business practices of these 2 companies, with the same relentlessness that they use to rip off old people. If I can sway even a handful of people to never use these companies for renting or financing HVAC equipment then I will be happy. I would never get a furnace through Reliance Home Comfort or anything else. Furthermore, my new home has a water heater with Reliance and the previous residents have paid $25 a month for the last 10 years. I was told the buy out is $1,800 10 years later. You can buy a new water heater brand new for $1,000. These companies are the biggest scammers and I can understand now why Reliance felt no way in buying out these bogus contracts from EcoHome. Like I said, I will post my feedback on every platform until every google search brings up my feedback and hopefully they lose potential customers as a result. I hate being scammed and worse,
I hate my parents being scammed who are both retired and almost 80.

This is horrible! I hope something was resolved. They clearly only respond to the nice comments

Steals your money and does not return cslls
I asked to buyout from my AC/Furnace contract and an invoice was sent to me with instructions to make payments. When I send the payment via my bank and emailed EcoHome Financial, I was told my account had been transferred to Reliance Home Comfort.

I was never notified that my account is being transferred to another company.

I have requested for my money to be refunded to my account and EcoHome keeps ignoring my emails and get keeping transferred when I call them.

Can someone call me and let me know when I can expect my refund?

EcoHome Financial Response • Aug 25, 2020

Dear Mr. & Mrs.

In reference to your Furnace and Air Conditioner, EcoHome Financial Inc. has thoroughly reviewed the original agreement signed with Smart Home Works signed June 04, 2016 to determine your early buyout.

Should we calculate the 124.95+hst with the annual increase by 180 payments less your amount paid month-to-date of $7,020.29+hst your buyout should then be $21,900.16+hst. The reduced buyout of $8,498+hst, installation Charges of $2,450+hst gives you a savings of $10,952.16+hst as an early buyout.

Upon receiving your payment dated August 21, 2020, EcoHome Financial Inc. is pleased to advise in an official capacity that your payment has been posted. The termination process has begun, the Final Release letter will be provided in due course.
Thank you for being a valued EcoHome customer and we wish you all the best in the future.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
Information received , early buyout in the process. Waiting for final release letter.

I am trying to pay out my balance but they will not tell my the original amount or the amount paid.

Each time I get a different amount, and my contract states I can pay this out with no penalty.

Desired Outcome

I would just like to know why they keep getting a different amount each time I ask how much to pay out. The amount keeps going up and there should be no penalty.

EcoHome Financial Response • Jul 12, 2020

Dear Mr.,

EcoHome Financial Inc. is in receipt of your complaint regarding your loan agreement entered with an installation Vendor named ***. A Start date of March 6, 2011 for your Furnace, AC and Water Heater, which was further financed by EcoHome Financial Inc.

You pay off the loan's interest and principal in different amounts each month, although your total payment remains the same for the entire term. Your terms end is April 1, 2021 but you are free to buyout at anytime, saving yourself additional interest associated to future payments.

Should you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact myself, undersigned below.

I ordered a new furnace and air conditioner through *** who deals with EcoHome financial. When I did this I was under the understanding that I could finance this through EcoHome financial. because they took 3 payments from my account for a total of 491.73. NOT the 143.38 monthly, I found out that I still owe the amount I owed on the date of purchase, price 12,876.35 which I cannot make payments on, they say I have to pay the full amount. ***. Why would I rent these items and still owe that kind of money.

looking forward to hearing from you soon
Juanita

Desired Outcome

I would like these payments applied to the balance of my loan.

EcoHome Financial Response • Jun 10, 2020

I was not aware I was only renting these items. I thought I was paying it off as though it were a loan only to find out to my supprise it was not. I would like all monies payed to be applied to the *loan*. I do not wish to continue renting these items if this is not resolved. Also I am still waiting for the breakdown. Hoq long must I wait. 3 weeks is far too long.

EcoHome Financial Response • Jun 25, 2020

Hello Ms.,

A Portion of each payment goes towards the ownership of the equipment. The monthly payments include the added benefit of service and repair as originally agreed at the time of signing.

We would be happy to review the breakdown with you.

If a portion has gone towards my purchase than why do I still owe thw full amount. I check tje cost of both items and I'm being charge $4000. Foe the air conditioner AND $4000. Foe the furnace when in fact the furnace is only 1/2 of that. I would like to know the exact amount. I can get a brand new air conditioner and furnace for less than that. I am not satisfied with this responce. Why do I still owe almost 13000
Dollers on my items if moneys have been applied .

EcoHome Financial Response • Jul 22, 2020

Dear Ms.,

As of February 2017, we have not had any affiliation or an ongoing relationship with ***. Whereby, no ability to inquire why the equipment quotes/buyouts are provided in the specific denominations for the amount we funded.

As you can attest to Mr., it has not been an easy road obtaining a buyout less than what has been quoted as $12,876.36 in the set Payment Schedule. All supporting documents illustrating your concerns were discussed at the highest level for approval. After much consideration EcoHome Financial Inc. is prepared to offer $9,241.14
for closure of this matter.

I have rejected the offer as I feel I am being charge way too much. Buy out has been changed but the units are nearly 6yrs old and I can buy brand new installed for less. Pluss they added taxes of over 1000. When taxes were already applied at the begining if the purchase.

EcoHome Financial Response • Aug 14, 2020

Dear Mrs. ***

EcoHome Financial Inc. has thoroughly reviewed the original agreement signed with Eco Energy Services a sub-dealer of *** as well as listened to the verification call conducted March 2015 for any evidence you have been taxed twice for the terms originally signed.

In reference to your furnace and air conditioner, it is to EcoHome Financial Inc. understanding that you received a copy of your original agreement accompanied by the Terms & Conditions on the day of signing March 9, 2015 by Eco Energy Services and again May 11, 2020 by an EcoHome representative. The verification call conducted states the same rate as the face of your agreement for the amount of $124.95+hst, and reference again under section (5) regarding your annual increase, which is also on the face of the agreement. Section (13) specifically references the agreement will remain in effect for the fifteen year useful life of the equipment, unless you choose to buyout by paying the remaining unpaid installments.

Should we calculate the 124.95+hst with no annual increase by 180 payments less your amount paid month-to-date of $8,930.71+hst your buyout should then be $13,560.29+hst. The reduced buyout of $7,848+hst and administration fee of $330+hst gives you a total savings of $5,382.11+hst. Therefore, reducing your term obligation from 180 payments to 143 payments with the additional savings of the 3.5% annual increase, as you will no longer be participating in the service and repair component.

***

EcoHome Financial Inc. has removed three years worth of payments from your buyout obligation and we will further reduce the buyout amount by lowering the administration fee to $261+hst for a full and final release in the amount of $9,163.17.

January 9th, 2019 I purchased a Water Filtration System from *** Environmental with financing through EcoHome. On January 11th. 2019 I exercised my buyer's right to cancel and faxed both EcoHome and *** (I have fax confirmation) and I also emailed both parties (I have read receipts).
January 15,2019 I followed up with *** who then came and removed the filtration system from my property.
I received a letter dated Feb 5, 2019 from EcoHome Finance regarding the financing. I immediately called them regarding the cancellation - forwarded the email again (I have read receipt).
On January 3, 2020 I realized that $35.15 had been taken from my bank account and further investigation showed that this amount had been taken every month starting August 2019 and that EcoHome Financing was the recipient of these funds ($210.90 total - and $20 I had to pay to stop payment). I immediately called them and spoke with *** - who initially told me that never received anything from me regarding cancellation. I indicated that I had proof of EcoHome reading the emails and fax transmission proof. He said he would look into it and call me back.
No call back - I followed up January 8, 2020 and spoke with *** again. He indicated that they never received cancellation from *** and confirmation that the equipment was removed. He told me to call *** at ***. I spoke with *** at *** that same day - he said he would look into it and call me back. Followed up with *** on Jan 10, 2020 and he indicated that he spoke with EcoHome and that everything was confirmed cancelled and that a letter and refund check were forthcoming end of week January 17.
February 3, 2020 Called EcoHome Financing again and spoke with *** - he indicated that he never spoke with *** from *** (Now call ***) and they never received confirmation of the equipment removal.
I called *** back and spoke with Brady - who said he would call back in a couple of days. Feb 5 received a call back from *** who said that they would pay me the $230.90 (210.90+20) and then they would get reimbursed by EcoHome Financing and that the check would be mailed in two weeks. It is now April 22, 2020 and I still have not received the money that was taken out of my account without authorization - since I ensured that both companies were aware that I cancelled the purchase. ***.

Desired Outcome

I would like the $210.90 taken from my account and the $20 it cost me to stop payment - returned to me.

Dear Mrs.,

EcoHome Financial Inc. is the funder and financier of your *** Filtration installed by ***. As the funder we paid the full cost of your Filtration system to *** which is then financed to you under the signed Agreement.

Upon speaking to our EcoHome agent on *** 8,2020 you were advised that we must verify the cancellation with *** to obtain your refund, as well as our own. We immediately ceased billing to avoid any wrongful charges. To date you have not been billed by EcoHome Financial Inc. nor have we been successful in verifying the cancellation and removal of the equipment with ***. Neither have we obtained a refund to pass on to the customer.

As it is not our intent to pro-long the termination or cause any undue hardship, we will refund the amount charged.

Refund has finally been received. Thank you Revdex.com for being a voice for the consumer!

Eco home came to my house in 2012 or 2013 to install shutters on my windows. They told me that $32 would be taken off my *** bill to pay for them. I just found out the their is now a lien on my home for over $3000 since 2018. I have not received any notices, no mail correspondence and I have been paying my bill on time every month. I have called and left voicemails and sent emails and no one has responded.

Desired Outcome

I would like for someone to contact me to explain why there is a lien on my house for something I've been paying into and also to remove the lien.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
I appreciate the timely response and resolution to this matter.

Our family rented an a/c unit from eco, but when it wasnt working they asked that we call someone local since they couldnt provide a tech at the time and they would reimburse us. It's been 2 years and I havent received the reimbursement yet. I sent the invoice and proof of payment; it was over $300 repair. Not only did they not reimburse us but they put a lien on my house seven though we paid every month. I ended having to pay $9000.00 for an a/c unit and hot water tank. I want the reimbursement for the repair.

Desired Outcome

I want the reimbursement of the repair, since they were obligated to repair it while it was being rented. At a time when we couldnt financially afford a unit up front, they raked us through the coals.

Dear Ms.,

EcoHome Financial Inc. is in receipt of your letter regarding an Air Conditioner Installed by *** August 27,2016 and would like to respond in order to provide clarity and understanding.

*** engaged with you directly at the time of signing and later installed the equipment upon your request and continued to manage your account directly. As the installer/dealer they are also responsible for service and repair of the Air Conditioner.

EcoHome Financial Inc. does not engage directly with the public nor do we house any parts or equipment. As the biller and financier of the signed contract, we provided the funding to *** on your behalf on August 27,2016.

*** went into receivership April 2019. This meant the promise of service and repair could no longer be upheld by ***. As the biller and Financier, we stepped in as of April 2019 and onward to ensure all contracts funded by us had access to service and repair outlined in the Terms & Conditions.

We are sorry to hear of your specific experience regarding the lack of service provided by *** in July 2018. This is the first time it has been brought to our attention.

The invoice referenced in your letter was not the responsibility of the finance company, and as such EcoHome Financial Inc. cannot take responsibility for the promise of a reimbursement by the dealer/installer for an invoice from July 2018.

In reference to the Notice of Security Interest registered by ***, it has been discharged by request of EcoHome Financial Inc., proof of such can be provided upon request.

Thankyou for sharing your experience with ***, we no longer do business with them, or have an ongoing relationship.

Should you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me direct, undersigned below.

Thanks again

. This company has their own set of rules and feel that they are not obligated to send you a monthly bill for their rental. As far as I understand in this life....you wait for a bill from a company, then send payment. I have tried on many occasions to speak to these people and reason with them, there is no comprehension of my concerns on their part. Obviously they do go through an awful lot of employees because the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. Unfortunately they do require a hefty price for a buy out.

Hello Mr. T.,

Thank you for sharing your concerns regarding the monthly billing of your Furnace and Air Conditioner. EcoHome Financial Inc. is in receipt of your review and its contents therein. We would like to respond in order to reach a resolution.

In respects to the specifics in your review Mr. T., ***. EcoHome Financial Inc. is a company that offers financing through a network of dealers/contractors throughout Canada. We do not engage in any selling directly with consumers, nor do we have any sales or service staff that deal directly with the public. We rely solely on our dealer network for business. *** was one of those dealers who installed your Furnace and Air Conditioner on August 15, 2014. The contract disclosing all pertinent information and Financing details, coupled with the terms and conditions was provided directly to you for review and your records. A 10 day cooling off period to cancel with no penalty should you find the contract to be scrupulous in away, was an option.

In respects to the billing of the equipment with EcoHome Financial Inc., a void cheque was attached to the signed contract; however, manual billing was preferred. This is a task completed every month by an individual, who manually drafts the invoices saved to records of billing and sent you Mr. T., there was a human error. Our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused. EcoHome Financial Inc. is pleased to share that we have implemented a new manual billing procedure, effective in two weeks. It will prove to be more efficient and accurate going forward by being system generated.

I trust the above response has addressed your concerns. Should you require any further information or have any further questions, please do not hesitate to let me know.

The complaint is in reference to a rental property in Stouffville that I own. I had requested from Ecohome that invoices be sent to me at my address in Markham as I would be paying for the air handler and not my tenants. After numerous (and I mean numerous) attempts I NEVER receive an invoice before the due date. Ecohome is borderline *** me for payment calling me everyday, sometimes twice a day for payment which I never receive invoices for. I have explained many times to several different people (email, phone) that I need paper copies of the invoices as this property is a rental and I need backup for payment.
I have voiced this concern to multiple individuals at Ecohome from collection officers to customer service and it never get rectified.
I am at my wits end trying to deal with them ***.
Its a simple request that I keep getting "promised" and never happens.
Payment of the account is never the issue its the lack of professionalism and customer service.

Desired Outcome

I am not looking for a resolution as I don't believe there is one besides the company just doing their job properly and sending out invoices in a timely manner and in a way they originally said they would.

EcoHome Financial Response • Sep 20, 2019

Dear ***,

Thank you for bringing your concern to our attention.

We take all customer concerns very seriously.

We have investigated your concerns and can respond as follows.

It appears that due to an administrative error your monthly invoices were being sent to the address where the asset was located rather than your requested billing address.

As a result you had not received the invoices and your account was showing in arrears and was assigned to our internal receivables team.

This error has been rectified in our system and future invoicing will be provided to your Markham address as requested.

We apologize for this error on our part and any inconvenience that may have caused you.

As a gesture of goodwill for this inconvenience we would like to offer you 1 months free rental charges.

Please feel free to contact myself direct if you feel we have not addressed your concerns fully or if I can be of further assistance.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)

. A *** came to my home asking me if I was aware of all the government grants available to promote energy conservation. He asked to check my furnace and I told him it was 30 years old. Then he totally misrepresented himself and his employer. Unfortunately for me I trusted in the validity of the Rental of a High Efficiency *** Furnace for the cost of $75.00 per month for a term of 120 months. I was assured there was a service and maintenance plan and a guarantee of a 2 hour response in the case of a problem.

I had 2 furnaces installed in 2 homes. That of my home and my oldest daughters home. After the installation no one from *** would respond to voice mail or email. For 3 years all regular payments were made to Eco Home Financial.

In February I became aware of a CO presence as it was killing mice in the basement of my home.
The pilot light of the Hot Water tank kept going out. I had the gas company (***) check the water heater and there was no reason defect detected, however the problem persisted. I chose to replace the water heater and the same happened to it. This meant the furnace was to blame.

I still was unable to contact *** so I called ECO HOME FINANCIAL who advised me *** no longer existed and they owned the contract and that there was "NO SERVICE, MAINTENACE OR WARRANTY" expressed or implied.

To this I replied "NO WARRANTY- NO MORE PAYMENTS" After missing the June payment ECO HOME FINANCIAL filled a claim against me. I learned the installation was done without a gas permit or inspection. I paid for the inspection and learned it failed to pass and that the furnace combustion and fresh air supply was not to code and was causing a "CONFINED SPACE" condition in my basement.

This group of "HOME SERVICE" *** are guilty of violating the Alberta Fair Trade Act by means of misrepresentation ***, *** and are funded by ECO HOME FINANCIAL ***

I am awaiting court decisions now and must replace the rental unit with a new unit from a local reputable dealer with professional installer.

My lawyer and myself have sent this company several faxes over the past 6 days. My Lawyer and I have provided the postponement to Eco home financial over 6 times and they have yet to sign this document and send it back properly. They sent it back once and not all the papers were in the fax. My lawyer and I have contacted the company several times and each time we get the name of the person we are speaking too and when we call back the company states that person does not work there.

Desired Outcome

I want the job finished NOW!!!!

Dear *** and ***,

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention.

We understand how this can be of an inconvenience to you and would like the opportunity to clear the air.

I have called you and left a message for a return call regarding your request.

On June 13, 2019 at 3:46pm, you lawyer sent us a request for a postponement of interest.

June 13, 2019, an email providing the requirements for the same was sent to your lawyer, as well advising that this process could take anywhere between 24-48 hours to be completed once we receive all of the required information.

June 20, 2019, per phone conversation, we advised you that your lawyer has not provided the required paperwork as yet in order for us to properly process.Shortly after, your lawyer called us and asked for us to send them the requirements again via email, this was sent again.

June 25, 2019 , per phone conversation, we advised you again that we have not received anything from your lawyer, which you asked us to forward the requirements to you via email, which was done and copied your lawyer in the same email. Shortly after, your lawyer then sent us an email with the requirements and we confirmed by email that this was received, however there a few items still missing. Spoke to your lawyer *** and advised documents are still missing and that we will call her back within the hour should she not send it in. *** finally sent in the documents after business hours, to which we then advised that there is still one item missing.

June 26, 2019, this morning we have sent another email to *** as well as called her, to no avail. We also advised you of this via phone conversation this morning.

Please understand we are more than happy to have this completed for you and will do so in a timely manner once we have received all of the information required.

Should you have any further questions, please call us at X-XXX-XXX-XXXX.

Thank you for your understanding.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
So , the company's timeline is not correct.

My lawyer ahs all the emails and communication to prove it.

This company is not to be trusted.

They have denied our claim for a postponement and the only reason I can think of is because we have made this complaint to the Revdex.com.

The company stands to make more money by staying in the contract with us. (we have never missed a payment)

The only time we have gotten a response from this company is right after this complaint was made. It took me 2 weeks to get to the point of making a complaint.

Eco home financial has done everything not to help us ( their customer) through this process that has now taken over 2 weeks, which should have taken 48 hours.

Case in point the Supervisor that responded to this complaint is the one that I have left several messages with over the past 2 weeks and the only time she returned my call was the moment she got this complaint. Its strange how my messages that I have left are not in her timeline. Also I have called back several times asking to speak to her only to be told there is no one there that works by first name of the supervisor that responded to this complaint.

***
My lawyer and I will be looking at what legal action can and will be taken against ECO HOME FINANCIAL and I will proceed with this I will not let this go, because if they are doing this to me then they will do it to someone else who might not have the fight or the means to fight for what is right.

EcoHome Financial Response • Jul 10, 2019

Dear *** and ***,
Thank you for your response. I would like to take this opportunity to address your concerns.
With regard to the Postponement request, please note that there is no process or decision taken with any malicious intent. Our requirements are the same presented to every customer under the process. Furthermore, all documents are mandatory for us to commence the process to be completed in 48-hours. This is contingent upon getting complete requirements in a timely fashion. Lastly, the processing fee is also clearly stated not to be paid until you have confirmation of approval. This indicates that there has been neither promise nor guarantee made of an approval until our analysis is complete. As this payment was made prior to a decision being made, we have requested a full refund of this fee.
While we strive to keep our customers satisfied, we reserve the right as a Finance Company to approve or decline postponement requests after careful review. We do not take postponements lightly, as we are aware of the impact it may have on Financial transactions concerning your property.
In cases such as yours, where the analysis has not returned in favour of a Postponement, we have no choice but to decline and request you to buy out this contract in exchange of the Discharge of the Notice of Security Interest registered against your property.
You have stated yourself, that we stand to gain more if we stay in the contract. I confirm that this is in fact true, so our decision to do otherwise should be an indication that we have not declined your request out of spite.
We sincerely apologise if you have felt uneasy having to speak with different people at different times. We most certainly cannot have Client Service files assigned to only one person because we must make sure requests are being handled as received.
We understand the inconvenience the process may have been for you and we sincerely sympathise.

If you wish to discuss your file any further, please feel free to contact me at

. Anyway, I too got hoodwinked with a friendly salesperson (actually 2) 5 years ago, who came to the door. (I think it'sno longer allowed for salespeople to sell equipment by just coming to your door, I can see why). The contract was never explained properly and I was given NO chance to pay outright for the equipment, but a 15-year (!!!) rent was ticked off by them, not an outright purchase amount. I have by now - after 5 years - paid enough money representing the cost of a new furnace, but I have 10 more years to go! Something is really wrong here and someone is making a lot of money out of this! If you add up their total rental after the 15 years, you could buy at least THREE furnaces for that amount. Also, they have the nerve to increase the cost every year, while the equipment of course deteriorates....I have learned that other companies ask for a much lower monthly rental price than EcoHome .... with a shorter rental period! That tells us something!
My biggest complaint with EcoHome is that their customer service is totally unprofessional and way below any accepted standards, i.e., non-existent. I have called them many times over the last 2 years to get explanations - the person on the phone never knows enough and passes me on to "a manager" - EVERY TIME. And EVERY TIME said manager is not at his or her desk, so I leave a message and ask to be called back, and I NEVER hear back. What kind of company is this? What are they hiding? I have even ask the first person that answered the phone to make sure that the "manager" they pass me on to is indeed at his/her desk, and still, this manager does not answer the phone!

I have tried to contact the company and the number reached is not in service and I am unable to send an email to them.

Desired Outcome

I would like the company to contact me

Accepting
Yes I was able to reach the company through the number they provided. Thankyou

Signed with Simply Green in Nov 2013 for a hot water tank rental.

Eco Home was assigned our contract at some point after that. We pay approx $20 / month through our *** account for the hot water tank rental.

In going through the process of renewing our current mortgage, we were made aware that Eco Home Financial has a lien or "Notice of Security Interest" on our home in the amount of approx $1600. This was lien was registered in Jan 2018 and no notice was provided.

I am being told that I have 2 options in clearing up this lien in order to execute on our new mortgage.

1. Pay approx $400 to have the lien postponed and continue our monthly payments to Eco Home or
2. Pay our our existing contract in the amount of approx $1580.

In the 64 months or so that we've had this rental hot water tank in place, we've paid approx $1280. To pay out our 15 year contract *** we have to pay $1580 for a total sum of $2860 for an appliance that any consumer can obtain from a *** store at a cost of $1000. ***

In discussing this with the Ontario Ministry of Consumer Affairs, my contact *** was frustrated in that there was legislation passed to prohibit door to door sales of items like hot water tanks, air conditioners, etc... but the legislation fell short of protecting those of us who may have already signed an agreement.

We have no appetite to remain a customer of Eco Home given their *** practices and are now faced with a very expensive buy-out penalty in order to obtain a mortgage and home equity line of credit which we plan on using to renovate our home with.

***

I would have been happy to pay a security deposit for their hot water tank but for them to place a lien on someone's home I think is extremely excessive.

Yes - we signed a contract with them. Given it was a door to door sales person, we didn't spend the time to dissect the fine print in their Terms and Conditions... in fact, I don't recall having been presented with them in the first place but that was almost 5 years ago now.

I'm looking for your guidance in finding out what options I might have at my disposal to remedy this situation in the very near term as the bank would like for us to have our mortgage sooner than later.

Thanks very much in advance for your time regarding this and I'll look forward to hearing back from someone when time permits.

Kind regards -

Desired Outcome

Take the lien off our house at no cost to we can obtain our new mortgage

Dear Mr.,

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention.

I would like to provide you with clarification of your contract, and take the opportunity for us to reach a mutual understanding regarding the Notice of Security Interest placed on our equipment in your home.

We have attempted to call you but we were unable to get in contact with you.

Please contact me at your earliest. I look forward to hearing from you.

EcoHome Financial- Revdex.com

An employee from this company has called me three times this week shortly after the death of my father to collect payment for his HEPA filter rental. I requested a buyout price and a copy of the contract three times, and they delivered it after their third phone call to me.

The buyout price is $6772.30, including a $295 "Notice of Security Interest Discharge Registration".

The contract they emailed me was not with Ecohome at all, but for ***, which is confusing because the bill says Ecohome, and there have been no bills from *** directly.

In the fine print of the contract from ***, Ecohome has helpfully highlighted fine print stating that by signing the contract you are granting them the right to register a lien against your property, and that you also waive the right to receive documentation of this, and that you appoint them as your lawful attorney for doing so. They have conspicuously not highlighted a little part in the middle that says "Unless prohibited by law"

Also in the fine print, they list the rental prices of their equipment.
My father's bill was $59.99, total lease cost is $2463.09, but they will be charging a total of $7198.80. You can get standalone hepa filters from *** for under $600.

My father was a senior immigrant for whom English was a third language, ***. I do not believe fair sales tactics were used on him***.

Desired Outcome

I expect this business to release us from this contract immediately, and pay back the amount my father has already paid.

EcoHome Financial Response • Mar 27, 2019

Dear: *** c/o ***

We kindly advise you, EcoHome Financial Inc.is an independent finance company that provides financing to customers for various home improvement assets. We do not have solicitors or sales representatives in the field, nor do we install or remove equipment.

We understand your concern and request.

Our legal team is currently reviewing all of the documents related to the mentioned agreement and will provide further communication once this is complete.

In the meantime, we do require a copy of the Death Certificate and a copy of the Will showing the person who submitted the complaint is the Executor/Executrix of the Estate.

Should you have any further questions, please contact us directly at our office, ***

Best Regards,

***, Manager, Client Service

Customer Response • Mar 28, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I have already submitted the requested documents twice to Ecohome to ***.

I am well aware Ecohome is an independent financial company. Our contract is with ***, not Ecohome, and I have not been provided with any documents showing the transfer of contract. The contract shows contact information for a third company, ***, and states that the bill will appear under ***.I have contacted *** and they claim no relationship to you, and have no record of this contract.

The contract is with ***, billing was supposed to be with ***, and now Ecohome claims they are doing the billing. This is confusing, and appears to be a strategy to make it difficult for people to understand their contracts and bills, and make it difficult to litigate.

I am consulting two paralegals and a lawyer friend to see how to proceed.

EcoHome Financial Response • Apr 18, 2019

Dear: *** c/o ***

This response serves to confirm that we have yet to receive any update from you regarding your statement of reaching out to a paralegal and legal counsel regarding your fathers account.

We are more than happy to communicate directly with your legal counsel, if this is your preference, kindly provide contact information for us to do so.

As you have previously declined speaking with us in order to work with you to meet a mutual understanding, please be advised that, our legal team has reviewed the account and all related documents, and have come to the conclusion that the agreement is enforceable.

In the meantime, should you wish to discuss this further, please contact us directly at our office, ***

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I reached out to a paralegal, and did a PPSA search.

Ecohome has placed a lien against my father's home, despite use of unfair sales practices against an *** elderly immigrant to secure the agreement.

We have no immediate plans to sell the home.
